What makes Terraria so good (when compared to minecraft) is the fact that it hasn't been taken over by a big company like Microsoft. The original Terraria devs get to keep making awesome updates and not worry so much about having a big company looming over their shoulders. Also, the mod-type weapons and stuff that are added to Terraria in these late updates feel natural, because Terraria has always had a variety of crazy awesome and eccentric aspects. Whereas in minecraft, things like bees and armor trims seem out of place because they are the type of thing you would see in a 2016 minecraft mod. It doesn't suit the base game of minecraft in the same way because we all know what minecraft should be like with our memories of it and nostalgia
How do bees seem out of place? Minecraft already has big bugs, same with armir trims when they have already experimented with customizable armor before? I don't see how it doesn't suit the base game. Minecraft has some crazy and interesting aspects too, not as wild as Terraria but still pretty fantastical.

Terraria is one of the few games whose developers aren't greedy and corrupt. They actually care about their game and the fans. They delay their updates for a long time because they want to make sure everything is finished before the update goes live, unlike all these other big games that are unfinished because of greed. The fanbase is probably the best I've ever seen, and the modding community has been amazing as well.
Yeah, Terraria is the Totally Respect and example for any indie game, No overprices, No microtransantions along the years, and actually cares about them own community.

As someone who has 3445 hours of Terraria on steam and 215 hours of Tmodloader i can say that this game is defiantly one of the best ones i've played. Like you said, its a great sandbox game with lots of variety. Dont want to kill bosses so fast? Well theres a shit tone of other things you can do like, building cool bases, fishing, making farms, collecting NPC's and messing around with items. And if you dont want to do those and your tired of killing bosses there are still more options, there's mods that make the game harder like Calamity, Thorium. You can also make challenges or goals in vanilla Terraria as well, like a thrower weapon only playthrough, or getting all the achievements. This game does what it does best and i love it, there is always something to do or achieve and thats awsome. Have a good one guys.
I remember the endless arguments I'd have with friends trying to convince them how much better terraria was than Minecraft back in 2012-13. It just kept getting better and better yet idk why it's so much less popular than Minecraft although it's way cheaper
I myself took 145 hours to beat terraria for the first time (i went in completely blind), i really just took my time beating the game, and enjoyded it a lot. 10 out of 10 game would recommend!
Me: "I have played Terraria since 1.2, I have conquered all up until golem, killing the duke, built houses, contraptions, farms, up to achieving automation of a quarter of things available in my world that can be automated. I have the knowledge!" Also me as soon as I start a new playthrough: _"what the heck is a vine rope??"_
Oh no its the calamity community hater! Aghhh! Jk bro idc what you think, and yeah terraria is horrible as a person who cant go a week without playing.
Unironically, if Relogic needed/wanted a Terraria update that perhaps costed $2-3, I would have 0 problem with that. Hell I'd pay for Terraria again just because I love it so much.
I was thinking the same thing lol… It’s funny how AAA game developers don’t understand that if you actually make a good game, fans will actually want to pay you.
I mean Terraria is one of the VERY few indie games at the top of the list of best selling video games of ALL time. I mean it's beaten Call of Duty, Cyberpunk, even f'ing Pokemon. This game by itself is an amazing experience to play through and honestly is one of the most fun games in the world to play with friends. So much hilarious stupid shit happens especially pre HM with people dying to boulder traps, dying to lava, dying to dart traps or random mobs cornering someone or dropping on them from above. And as you said if you ever get bored of base vanilla Terraria well... you're in luck because this game has one of the most passionate mod communities of any game and there are tons of mods to play that will literally double the amount of hours you have in the game. I have 735 hours in vanilla Terraria and 1.1k in modded. I still haven't done all the seed combinations and runs with different class setups on each. That's another thing this game not only has a shit ton of content both in the base game and with mods but the classes are all equally viable to play from start to end game and they're all equally a lot of fun. In 99% of games I play I'm a ranged character person. I like to play either mages or archers/mercenaries with guns. Melee in most games just isn't fun to me. Terraria makes it fun for me though and when a game can make something you normally dislike into something you enjoy, that game is wonderfully unique.
Wonderful insight, isn't it insane that it's literally in the top 20 most sold games of all time but it feels like we hear more about COD and Pokémon, probably because they've been around longer and their history but theirs something underlying and special about Terraria that resonates with many but rarely talked about.
And on top of all that once you’ve beaten the game there are so many more options in playing through it again, like doing a harder game mode, or a harder character difficulty, or journey mode and making cool stuff, secret seeds, using a new class, and more. Terraria has the highest replayability of any game I’ve ever played, which is why it’s nearly impossible to become bored of it. You can tear through the game like a madman facing boss after boss, or you can stop and smell the roses making nice houses, doing fun activities like golfing and fishing, exploring, making new gear, etc. Because this game is so amazingly fun to play, that incredible amount of variety, replayability and content makes for never ending fun. I fully agree that Terraria is a masterpiece and one of the greatest games ever made

@@kitchenpotsnpans man, whatever you are smoking I need some of it, because I need to dissociate from reality, like hardcore. Btw, not that you're interested, but opinions aren't valid or invalid, it's personal preference bro. One of my biggest regrets is playing it for the first time on switch after my dad got it for me from the eShop instead of PC because it basically robbed me of the first time experience with how hard the console versions are to control
I was always one of those people who thought terraria was just “2d minecraft”. That was until I tried it and i can confirm. it’s not just a 100x better than minecraft but it’s the best game of all time
The last time I played this game was 12 years ago. Should I revisit it with mods or does the new vanilla have enough new things/changes in it that I should go through it stock first?
I'd recommend just playing the original first, the most recent 1.4 has so much content that you could spend days on it, weeks even. It is very different than what it was in 2011 so it will be like a completely different experience. Once you've defeated the final boss it can get a little stale, so at that point yes id recommend mods once you've finished the overall game progression.
I used to play minecraft and terraria religiously in the early 2010s, my computer broke so haven’t had a pc to game on in almost a decade (think it broke early 2014). Coming back to the games years later, I have no interest in minecraft as it literally feels the same with more blocks… I managed to get my old world back on terraria and it feels like a whole new game with all the new content added through the past decade… funny thing is built an i9 13900kf 4070ti rig to play demanding games but I just find myself playing terraria mainly since lol.
i agree with you otherwise but around 6:00 the point about having to rebuy the game is completely invalid, you also have to buy terraria again if you get it on console or another steam account so it's exactly the same as minecraft in that regard also the point about terraria being more free in terms of creativity and exploration is just not true (although there is more reason to explore in terraria)
The problem with installing and playing multiple big mods at the same time isn't just some bs the community made up. It's becuse they can clash a TON. Biomes can get merged in ways that make the game unbeatable, world generation can get skrewed up, and your game can just crash when you try to open up your world. But, if you have calamity/any other massive mod, and you have like 50 small mods installed, then it will be fine.
minecraft is a lot more sandbox than terrarias pretty linear progression but terrarias replayability is a whole lot better cuz of how fun the game is and how much shit there is to find i have damn near 1600 hours on the game through the 3 years ive been playin it and the other day i started a new playthrough and immediately ran into some random shit loot i aint even no existed on my 20th smth time playing also the weapon classes and the amount of weapon types makes combat always interesting in minecraft u got 2 options for weapons in terraria you got 4 classes each wit subclasses of their own special armor types weapons accessories and each calls for a completely unique playstyle if you like limiting yourself to 1 class like i do and no matter how far u always have smth to work towards in the game i have yet to beat master mode as summoner which is the last class i gotta do in master mode and i have 98% achievements wit just 2 more to go and after allat i aint even touched the 10smth special world seeds that switch up the game meanwhile minecraft a borin ahh block game that i done played too much you can only bring yoself build a castle so many times you never get tired of whoopin celestial deity ass tho😭😂🥱
after having over 4500 hours on terraria and a lot of time on minecraft I can say the first minecraft playthrough does feel incredible because you have no idea whats in a cave or a chest, after one playthrough you run out of content, whereas terraria has solid progression and a lot after the first playthrough. minecraft literally has speedruns where you can get a full set of the best armor in the game in like 2 minutes, whereas terraria has actual progression and it takes hours getting the best armor. also terraria mods are just better. no debate. calamity wrath of gods is the best mod ever made trust me
You don't have to really buy Minecraft multiple times though, in fact once you buy Java or Bedrock you get the other for free on PC, meanwhile with Terraria? Yeah once you get int on steam that is it...but PC doesn't even have all content due to other versions having exclusive content, so it's really no better except it's easier to get on PC. Although Consolearia can help with that, still though.
I love Terraria, and I really enjoyed this video. But my dude, I have bought Minecraft the exact same amount of times as I have brought Terraria - thrice! Once on my phone, once on my PC and once on my PS4. And there isn't a bunch of crap to download. Just like Terraria (PC) you download one launcher. Then you download that game on that one launcher. Woah. I love both games and for certain players they each do things better than the other that would make different people prefer one over the other. But neither are that complicated to get into and just play. The main barrier is how much more Minecraft costs, but difficulty to DL and set up? They're both simple. EDIT: All those devices that "can run Steam" are PCs. You buy Terraria once on Steam, and it works on every available Steam machine (PC). You buy Minecraft, and it is available on every PC running any OS just like Terraria. Also both games have to be downloaded on to each new computer - both launcher need to be downloaded to each new computer. You don't need to spout such weird point when there are already so many real points that make Terraria better than Minecraft. It is starting to feel like you're making stuff up about Minecraft in terms of the way it's installation and setup works so differently compared to Terraria. It isn't that different, it's just a different launcher.
im seeing more and more of these "terraria is better than minecraft" or "terraria is one of the games of all time" also off topic, during the sequence when you are talking about how the eye of cthulhu was terrifying, I saw a star almost hit EoC but EoC was in the ground womp womp.
i think comparing the original vision of minecraft and terraria is kinda pointless. og minecraft has a very different thing its going for. even though the premise is somewhat similar. it has that lonely feeling and its basically an open sandox. terraria had focus on progression and bosses and items all the way from the start. so it works. but minecraft wasnt meant to be like that imo so now it feels like it has too much stuff thats disjointed. less simple and more overwhelming. terraria has goals so all the stuff makes it so you still feel like you have a direction to go in. idk if that makes sense. terraria has a clearer goal than modern minecraft does. it lost its original appeal and artstyle and charm. now it feels like people want minecraft to be more like terraria even though it was never meant to be from the ground up. wanting mc to be more expansive, more boimes, more items, more objectives. but minecraft was made to be a game with no objective. apart from what you came up with yourself. i love terraria a lot. and also beta mc.
Honestly, it isnt the BEST game of all time but it is definately at LEAST 4th place in my books. My list Ultrakill Minecraft (dont insult me ok its the first video game i ever played) Final Fantasy XV Terraria This is based off of games i actually played
I swear to God every time I see a terraria video it's always **Here iS Why TeRaRIA iS ThE Best GAmE iN ThE WoRlD** and they take any opportunity to shit on Minecraft
My only gripe with terraria is the endgame. Weapons like the terra blade become obsolete in like 40 minutes of gameplay due to golem and cultist being quick bosses. They should make empress mandatory (with a nerf cuz shes harder than moon lord tbh) and the pumpkin/frost moons, and replace the pillar weapons with powerful accesories.
Every single Terraria video has to be comparing to Minecraft I think it's copium. Like if you have to start off a video talking about how the opponent of your favorite game it means that you're coping. Ordering a massive Cope special
Are you gonna ignore how minecraft youtubers do it too? Even then, they still make videos complaining about minecraft and talking about how Terraria is soo much better

also the point about terraria being more free in terms of creativity and exploration is just not true (although there is more reason to explore in terraria)
I beat the game with my brother on mobile a couple of times and it was amazing
wait you play as the villain? how
The problem with installing and playing multiple big mods at the same time isn't just some bs the community made up.
Terraria is so silly sometimes and also so dark💀
after having over 4500 hours on terraria and a lot of time on minecraft I can say the first minecraft playthrough does feel incredible because you have no idea whats in a cave or a chest, after one playthrough you run out of content, whereas terraria has solid progression and a lot after the first playthrough. minecraft literally has speedruns where you can get a full set of the best armor in the game in like 2 minutes, whereas terraria has actual progression and it takes hours getting the best armor. also terraria mods are just better. no debate. calamity wrath of gods is the best mod ever made trust me
i defeated golem not long ago yay im go get lunno culcust
Terraria is the game you pirate and then buy cuz the devs put their soul in it
Well said.
Console and mobile don’t have ah more exclusive content
i think my 3300h can relate
It isn't that different, it's just a different launcher.
im seeing more and more of these "terraria is better than minecraft" or "terraria is one of the games of all time"
also off topic, during the sequence when you are talking about how the eye of cthulhu was terrifying, I saw a star almost hit EoC but EoC was in the ground womp womp.
What abut the negative reviews and aspect on how 505 ruined terraria???
Most negative reviews are made as a joke, and I haven’t even heard of 505 until recently so in don’t think anyone cares
@adilsagadiyev5090 I care, j think terraria turned to crap ever since they decided on pc port and upgrade over 1.3
i think comparing the original vision of minecraft and terraria is kinda pointless. og minecraft has a very different thing its going for. even though the premise is somewhat similar. it has that lonely feeling and its basically an open sandox. terraria had focus on progression and bosses and items all the way from the start. so it works. but minecraft wasnt meant to be like that imo so now it feels like it has too much stuff thats disjointed. less simple and more overwhelming. terraria has goals so all the stuff makes it so you still feel like you have a direction to go in. idk if that makes sense. terraria has a clearer goal than modern minecraft does. it lost its original appeal and artstyle and charm. now it feels like people want minecraft to be more like terraria even though it was never meant to be from the ground up. wanting mc to be more expansive, more boimes, more items, more objectives. but minecraft was made to be a game with no objective. apart from what you came up with yourself. i love terraria a lot. and also beta mc.
Honestly, it isnt the BEST game of all time but it is definately at LEAST 4th place in my books.
My list
Ultrakill
Minecraft (dont insult me ok its the first video game i ever played)
Final Fantasy XV
Terraria
This is based off of games i actually played
I swear to God every time I see a terraria video it's always **Here iS Why TeRaRIA iS ThE Best GAmE iN ThE WoRlD** and they take any opportunity to shit on Minecraft
Dude it's kinda true, Minecraft has turned into a shitbox, I grew up with minecraft too but I've came to realise that terraria is better in many ways.
@@Fishos minecraft is still pretty good
@@Fishos I know terraria is better it's that I don't get why the terraria Fandom is hating on Minecraft
@@soup6661 I didn't say Minecraft was bad it's just Microsoft that makes it I still play Minecraft from time to time.
@@Fishos Ok both games are good I don't get Why the terraria people hate minecraft so much
I ❤ terraria
Terraria is my favorite game!! 😎😎😎
why does he keep showing that fking annoying green circle
My only gripe with terraria is the endgame. Weapons like the terra blade become obsolete in like 40 minutes of gameplay due to golem and cultist being quick bosses. They should make empress mandatory (with a nerf cuz shes harder than moon lord tbh) and the pumpkin/frost moons, and replace the pillar weapons with powerful accesories.
Yes waiter, another video of someone glazing my favourite game.
Every single Terraria video has to be comparing to Minecraft I think it's copium.
Like if you have to start off a video talking about how the opponent of your favorite game it means that you're coping.
Ordering a massive Cope special
In all honesty, Terraria is way more fun.
Terraria is the game that makes other games feel boring
Damn, I want to learn about Terraria but this vid is so over edited that it gave me a headache.
I have terraria in pc, ps4 and switch... And I have close to 300h played.
I still haven't gotten beyond the cultists
For the cultist i reccomend just maxxing your defense. They do barely any damage.
F*ck this game
I'm not able to enjoy minecraft anymore due to it
That is the only problem i have with the game
Terraria is the greatest of all
Terraria is great. Play it. That's my review.
Couldn't agree more
I am at slightly over 2k hours, and i really can not say it's the best game ever or even my favourite
Skill issue
damm can terraria players stop comparing it to minecraft for once?
That would require not mentioning Minecraft at all or talking about the differences between the games at all.
Are you gonna ignore how minecraft youtubers do it too? Even then, they still make videos complaining about minecraft and talking about how Terraria is soo much better
@ Minecraft RUclipsrs never do that and if they do it’s a joke
And those who do that don’t understand Minecraft
@@Elistic4443d I don't think that people don't understand minecraft since it's so simple and popular. Also, Terraria is still objectively better.
@@ishitatiwari6056 Some do. also its not stop being biased
Starbound is better
Uh I don’t know about that, could ya provide some evidence on why?
Minecraft better than terraria
Play Terraria first
L comment.
Only at using imagination to build visual things.
Wrong opinion
both are good
I feel like you're about to pop off.
nice video
