  • They've had over a Year to get this New Brushless WLToys 104002 right, but they have not! Seems like a Money Grab to me. Yes, I had fun with it in the end, but it's over $200, and has a sub standard Brushless System in it. Come on WLToys, you smashed it with the 144001, and 124017 etc..

      quick (albeit rough) way to convert KPH to MPH is drop the zero multiply by .6 so 60 kph 36 mph. quick C to F is double it and add 30. So 18 C would be 66 F. You're off by a couple of degrees and mph but it's close enough for the girls I go out with.

      "I don't think I'd pay over $200 for it" that's the problem with anything from China these days. The prices have gone crazy, specially shipping. I was going to bite on a EX86110 at $300 CDN with free shipping then when I went to buy it a few days later it was $350 + $124 shipping and now they're all over $500 cdn. Now even the HG P407 in KIT form is almost $400.

      Diffs are sealed (but arrive empty, need shimmed and are not very long lasting).
      CV joints are very weak (weirdly thin near plastic bit)
      Turnbuckle pop off from driving (not just crashing).
      Carbon top decks are available and stop flex
      Id suggest looking an LC racing 1/10 instead if you want a cheap 1/10 buggy.
      I tried to love mine, but I just couldn't enjoy it.

      @SOLO MASTER try diffrent wheels to see if they are unbalanced + check if the CV shafts are bent (might be worse with wheels on than without) + unlikley, but maybe the diffs are causing the problem and skip when there is resistance?

    WLToys had so much succes with the 144001 because the could mostly copy the LC Racing EMB, and build upon that existing and solid design. But making a good 1/10 scale is a different challenge.

    • @TheActionBastard
      @TheActionBastard 2 года назад

      they look like they just scaled it in their software. Literally just stretched parts and changed nothing else. Thicker plate? Nope that'd be effort, just make it longer. They didn't add reinforcement or anything... like "can we use the same sheets of metal we're already using for the other cars?" was what some bean counter asked the engineers. You can't take something for 1/14 or 1/12 and just... stretch it and hope to god it still works right.

    • @rc-fannl7364
      @rc-fannl7364 2 года назад

      @@TheActionBastard Indeed. While the original 1/14 design by LC had enough "headroom" for that scale, 1/10 is just an entirely different ball game. The forces and stress that parts are under, are much higher, due to the bigger size and extra weight involved. Plus a company like WLToys will probably use cheaper materials where they think they can get away with it. Like I've never seen a tie rod being bent that much, not even on well used vintage cars.

    • @hundredeyes4596
      @hundredeyes4596 2 года назад

      This is not true at all, they did not just "stretch" the 1/14 versions into this 1/10 car.
      This is a design based on the x-ray b4, it's almost identical, the LC racing 10bl is also a clone of the x-ray.
      The design itself is brilliant, the x-ray version is an awesome car.

      @@hundredeyes4596 Ah, thx for the clarification. I mixed up some things with the 1/10 scale cars, as LC Racing's first 1/10, the truggy, was mostly a scaled up version of their excellent 1/14 buggy. So I assumed, since WLToys cloned LC's 1/14, they had done the same with this 1/10. But the 1/10 buggy series is different indeed.

    ive upgraded my 104001 (the brushed variant) to brushless about a few months ago and now they have come out with a brushless model. 😭it has a 4200 kv 3660 moter and a 60 amp esc capable of doing 3s. 29 tooth pinion.

    Honestlly , get the brushed version , slap your own choice of electronics ( i would go for a 3660/3670 not the 3650 amd a 60-80A esc ) and you will end with ~the same cost or even cheaper ( you can sell the brushed electronis for ~30-40$ ) and have a much better buggy .

      Slapping a surpass hobby motor+esc and a dumboRC radion + some servo into a brushed version would make so much more sense then getting this one. i have a 124018 converted to brusheless with a 3650 3900KV + 60A esc with a dumbo and a 3.5KG fast servo and that thing is a rocket ( 50mph on 2S and 80mph on 3S on a basher is crazy ).

    Does a brushless setup "run in" and give a little bit more speed? My guess is that it was a half arsed effort to keep up with the market mostly moving to brushless but sometimes on a budget set up tried and true is the way to go.

    doesn't seem bad but is what it is too. a top center brace would have been nicer. maybe they got called out on their ESC's and they re-labelled accordingly? pretty close on box label top speed, fast enough for playing on a clay or carpet dirt track. just maybe they've been paying attention to us some?
    I liked your idea sandwiching 2 pans, scuffing epoxying clamping 2 glass ones would be very solid, its low CG weight and rigidity increases makes sense. if they used stock that was 1 mm thicker it'd improve it a bunch, is also something they could do going forward and immediately with ease.
    fair little review of it, its not a basher.

    I can't get past the weak chassis. If they'd at least equip it with the carbon fiber chassis and at least a 60 Amp esc, I might be more interested. I've got two wltoys and while they're fun after a few upgrades, it doesn't take long to become disinterested. The metal gearing and plastic quality could be much better. From what I've seen, they mostly just try to copy other brands using cheaper materials.

    Maybe on 3s mate? 🤔 But I'm not sure It has the strength to handle 3s, who knows maybe at least for a while, after all, It took a nice beating and the chassis did not bend this time, also I been thinking that maybe the Esc on the 124016/17 Is also a 45a only, I have a 3650 4300kv waiting to go in my 124016 v2 but I wanna see first what can the 2845 4300kv can do with a "better" Esc and I use this things "" cause Its only a kk series surpass 80a not even a hobbywing, but still I wanna see how Its going to work, Its just the Esc hasnt arrived yet, back on topic, It maybe better to get the zhunter brushed and then make It brushless, that thing seems well build and I think Its only 99usd and it's also 1/10 scale and It doesnt look bad at all, maybe even better than this one on my taste, any way cheers mate hope you have a great weekend!! ✌️

    Hi Tomley, have been eyeing the WLT 104002 & maybe a HSP 94107 pro, you have any advise which is better to buy in terms of durability & parts availability. Is this 104002 good since it has a metal plate below the chassis that should help with the flexing? Me and a friend goes to track where most are driving 1/10 buggies, he wants to get a WL 124008, which i think might a little small compare to the rest.
