  • They've had over a Year to get this New Brushless WLToys 104002 right, but they have not! Seems like a Money Grab to me. Yes, I had fun with it in the end, but it's over $200, and has a sub standard Brushless System in it. Come on WLToys, you smashed it with the 144001, and 124017 etc..

    No doubt wltoys will take note of your honest valid opinion and review, I'm pretty confident that they will release a pro version 2 with the proven 60amp esc they used in the 1204 and a stiffer chassis,

    They need to drop the prices of these ASAP! Shame about the chassis flex and delay but put those issues aside its a decent buggy and pretty quick and more than enough for most people! Like others have Said the brushed version may be the better option with a brushless upgrade. 😎👍

    Recently got a emb-mt and have put 8 fresh batteries in it and in that time have done about 2 dozen high speed cartwheels mostly on asphalt. The only thing I've had to do is pop back in those links a few times. Bought some extra link ends in case the sockets wear out. When I go out I have zero anxiety about breaking stuff and having to wait on spares. True enjoyment.

    Yeah, I am going to second your meh. I have mentioned this before a local R/C'er bought one of the WPL 14th cars and that buggy was shocking for speed and smooth operation. The flex in this one is like it's a half finished chassis missing the top brace. And no not over 200. As usual, a candid to the point review. Thanks Phil.

    You say the 104001 is a bit of a letdown but honest to god my testing against an associated b74 showed it to have a TON of promise for the price. It DOES need upgrades, for sure, but as a starter chassis it can work fine and for less than the cost of a roller from the big boys.

  • @NathanStorer
    @NathanStorer 2 года назад +1

    Maybe they could start making brushless ready rollers and put a little more money into the chassis. Honestly, I would like to see more rollers out there so you can just plop in your own electronics.

    I enjoyed the video. I think you evaluated it correctly. As you know, when the turnbuckle pops off and it happens more than once to the same ball cup you might as well replace the ball cup. I thought it was unusual for the camber link to bend to that extreme on that surface. Thanks.

    WLToys had so much succes with the 144001 because the could mostly copy the LC Racing EMB, and build upon that existing and solid design. But making a good 1/10 scale is a different challenge.

  • @413RC
    @413RC 2 года назад +1

    It’s good to see them making an effort at 1/10 scale. And if you need upgrade parts pretty much all LC Racing 10b5 parts will fit. Agreed that the price makes this not work it. For those turning these into speed run cars they’ll probably opt for the roller anyways.

    doesn't seem bad but is what it is too. a top center brace would have been nicer. maybe they got called out on their ESC's and they re-labelled accordingly? pretty close on box label top speed, fast enough for playing on a clay or carpet dirt track. just maybe they've been paying attention to us some?
    I liked your idea sandwiching 2 pans, scuffing epoxying clamping 2 glass ones would be very solid, its low CG weight and rigidity increases makes sense. if they used stock that was 1 mm thicker it'd improve it a bunch, is also something they could do going forward and immediately with ease.
    fair little review of it, its not a basher.

    Does a brushless setup "run in" and give a little bit more speed? My guess is that it was a half arsed effort to keep up with the market mostly moving to brushless but sometimes on a budget set up tried and true is the way to go.

    Maybe on 3s mate? 🤔 But I'm not sure It has the strength to handle 3s, who knows maybe at least for a while, after all, It took a nice beating and the chassis did not bend this time, also I been thinking that maybe the Esc on the 124016/17 Is also a 45a only, I have a 3650 4300kv waiting to go in my 124016 v2 but I wanna see first what can the 2845 4300kv can do with a "better" Esc and I use this things "" cause Its only a kk series surpass 80a not even a hobbywing, but still I wanna see how Its going to work, Its just the Esc hasnt arrived yet, back on topic, It maybe better to get the zhunter brushed and then make It brushless, that thing seems well build and I think Its only 99usd and it's also 1/10 scale and It doesnt look bad at all, maybe even better than this one on my taste, any way cheers mate hope you have a great weekend!! ✌️

    Wow, 223 dollars US, so then around about 170 or 190 pounds I guess then as well? If it had some sort of chassis brace or some kind of telescopic center drive shaft like an arrma 3s to deal with that chassis flex a bit better ,hmmm maybe that price would make a tiny bit more sense. But to have a 45a esc instead of at least a 60a like other wltoys, typical bendy driveshafts, and in my own wltoys experience bad diffs, that's a tough sell for 223 dollars. I want to like this car, and I do actually like how the motor is arranged dead center like that, but I'm just not sure what this car is. It's not a basher, not really a speed runner either, and not really a race buggy. Just not sure the direction of this car. Is it a drive, upgrade, drive some more kind of car then? It's like it's almost a good car, but then not even close at the same time. Sometimes it seems like wltoys is having an identity crisis. Awesome video as always!! Thank you!

I've got two wltoys and while they're fun after a few upgrades, it doesn't take long to become disinterested. The metal gearing and plastic quality could be much better. From what I've seen, they mostly just try to copy other brands using cheaper materials.
