I had 18+ mins of run footage on the 'off road' part that I condensed down... this thing took some serious abuse!

Cant go wrong really remember wen we first had 15 mins playing time and 18 hours charge time lol boy how times changed lol
Wltoys took their wheels and body shell, slapped it onto a hyper go chassis and called it their own
That was shokcingly tough for that price.
At least as a brand they’re always trying.
😎👍
They just should learn and listen more from users/customers and also other makers like MJX/HBX/rlaarlo if they don’t own any of these company (this one has some MJX genes on it though😊)
Very!
@@davidives7204
I see what you did there.
Not gonna lie it’s much better than I thought it’d be and I want one
isnt this a longer mjx?
Gleiche Plattform wie die Hyper Go
No issues out of the box with this one, nicely made and cheaper! WLtoys did it this time! 🤘😊
Nice video Phil!
Do you know if those cvd shafts would fit older buggies? Like the 144001 or 124016? Thanks
I thought they went with a proprietary battery like T..raxxas, until I saw the deans connector fixed into a bracket, what a scare
Yeah, at least you can fit normal batteries
Love wltoys!
Me too :)
got myself one recently after watching all these "speedster" vids.. gonna whack the biggest motor in it I can find.
I have 5 wltoys buggys including a brushless version and I love em all. All have been bashed back flipped etc. Brilliant value for money. Oh all have slightly bigger wheels, for garden grass and all have better spoilers. Great when you have mates around or the kids... brilliant. John
Yes, they offer really good value for money
where do you get the spoilers from please?
That took way more abuse to break then I ever thought it would. I'm not easy to impress, and I'm surely impressed. And great video shots man!!! Them slide and close calls were sick!!
Agreed
That's because it's mostly MJX hyper go parts all over it chassis and all All it is a WL Toys body. Other than that it's a good old MJX hyper go. If you have an MJX with a plastic chassis you would agree. Then you can do the comparison.😮😊
Phil, those cvd shafts looks beefy as opposed to 124017 ones which are the week point. If you can check whether they fit to 124017/16, that would be a nice information for us that do plan to upgrade the cvd.
Yes I would love to know the answer too!
I'll have a look when I fix it
0:02 i doubt they would fit seeing as it is "apparently" an all new platform and completely different to all there other buggies
Pretty sure i have LC racing ones in one of my wl toys.
@@TomleyRCits been 2 months now, have you tried it yet?
Thanks for the review! I'm hesitating between the 124016 and the 124008. Which car would you recommend if they were available for the same price?
Same here, would love the answer! Maybe with 144010 in comparison too
This is probably better for durability. Although the I prefer the look of the 124016. And it’s got better electronics
Those driveshafts, rear bulkhead, hinge pin holder, front bumper, battery holder, battery hard case style, body holders on the side of the chassis, etc. are all from the MJX Hyper Go series, specifically the 1/16 buggy.
the ESC and fan look like mjx too. It looks like a 1/12 hyper go
Yes you're 100% correct That's probably why I'm going to go get one.
@@andrew4403 I already got one and the plastic front shock tower broke the first time it landed upside down. Looked like its time for an upgrade
Dang. That Buggy took a beating. There seems to be a lot of buggys of this style/scale out there now. It's making it difficult to think of new adjectives for them. That terrain you were on was possibly a bit rough for a 1/12 scale.
Looks like it definitely is worth $120. Seems to perform well 🙂
Love these titles that say 120$!!! Yeah okay so when i got to look it up its probably 180-200.
Well it is $120… and I even showed a screen shot of the price on the video 😅
That is a neat little car. It has a lot of very cool design features. The price is good. You gave it quite a tough test.
Yeah, certainly priced well
come on, not this again, its not an all new platform in the same way as the Arrma Vorteks Boost is a whole new platform from the Arrma Vorteks, look at the Rlaarlo, that comes either with a metal chassis or carbon chassis and nobody says they are 2 different platforms.
Not bad especially for the price and they actually put a honest top speed on the box - tin finally 😂
Yes… decent price in todays market!
That sounded so nice on the speed runs. Cheers
Yeah… it’s a little ripper
That’s beyond crazy fast. And those tires have excellent grip!
Hi Phil I do like this buggy seems very smooth. Thanks for posting SIR 🇬🇧✌🏼🤩
Good God that's an ugly controller! 😕
I do like the body shell and your British accent. ☺
Is this the "Fastest Chinese made RC car....... in the world."
It’s whatever you want it to be 😅
very nice.
With the recent BG sale... it was tough to choose between this 124008 and a 124017 V2. I had a $12 off so went with the 124017 V2... but think I'll end up with one of these as well in a few months maybe 😂
Could I use the new thick axles on my older wltoys buggy?? (Same one as your blue one on the video) the stock axles are horrible!
Hello Mr. T....looks like it passed the Tomley Torcher Test.. ....
Certainly did 👌
Looks a real bargain 👍
Fantastic little buggy, Phil! Awesome bashing and review!!! 😃
They usually make those in 2 versions, right? This kind of buggy and a desert one I guess... Anyway, looking forward to this one!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
WLToys RC cars seem to produce a lot of RC cars with good value for money.
That was a great review. I always enjoy watching it. thank you👍👍
It's great to see a WL Toys car, going to the speed on the box, and that they've actually improved it over the previous cars, and not just made it longer, etc. I'm still hooning about my 144001, so I suppose this will be the test for this! Will it still be being talked about, 3 years after it's released?! I'd buy one of these to replace the 144001, if and when it ever breaks!! 😎👍🏻
144001 was/is a solid Buggy 👌
@@TomleyRC Yup, still running my 144001!
That’s nice for the price thumbs up 👍
👍
Your having too much fun Phil
Yes haha
get the wing from an LC racing truggy the molded version holds up to alot of bashing.
Yes… I’ve used them before. I prefer the Traxxas Rustler 4x4 one
@@TomleyRC those are good wings also.
If you dont know "metal or plastic", then no need for a magnet (wont work on aluminum and zinc-aluminum), no need to tap it with screwdriver, just touch it with your lips. Feel the cold=metal, feel room temp=plastic.
Yeah I know 😅
They still should have made it more adjustable front and rear I don't know why they went backwards on that.
I have just bought this but also bought a DumboRC controller with giro reciever for 22 quid 😁 they should just sell the car without receiver now the servo is non proprietary 3 wire 👍 or provide the Dumbo as an optional upgrade 👌
WHat about throttle delay? I have 124017v2 and it's... problematic. On the other hand, I just got 284161 and it doesnt seem the case
No delay that I noticed 👍
@@TomleyRCgood
Thank you for bringing this to my attention Phil. I will have to look for one.
No probs dude
I can't find a replacement piece for the left arm holds up the wheel for the WL toys 124017 V2 I don't want to get scammed either
Thanks for the cool video. That car seems really good for the price. Are replacement parts available?
a 1/10 scale with a rigid body like this will be sweet. Those cvds must be compatible with the old 124017 for an upgrade.
Is the transmitter and receiver better than of MJX? If yes this would be a good alternative for hypergo 16207. MJX has crappy remote and receiver.
I just received this car I bought after looking at all the enthusiastic reviews. Sadly the first impressions are not in line with the expectations. In particular I find the throttle response incredibly bad with huge deadzone in both driving and braking directions. Around 50% of the full stroke has no effect and the torque modulation happens in a short amount of travel making fine control impossible.
All my other RC cars are brushed so maybe I'm expecting too much from a cheap brushless esc, but at the moment I'm pretty disappointed.
It's a shame as in every other aspect the car is magnificent and overall quality is better than expected.
Stop thinking about converting your 14401 and 1240.. Wltoys with these drive shafts. They look nice and thick - but they're no good! That slotted bullet in the CVD just keeps breaking away! I prefer the old waves!
They are the exact same shocks on both cars except one is heavier and the rebound is smoother because of the weight. What confuses me is why they would put thicker beefier CVDs on a much lighter car. These driveshafts belong on the 124017 and 124019. NOT this thing. It's like there's nobody home at wltoys! Out to lunch.
i like wltoys and got 10cars all up and i agree with you..id love to be a fly on the wall when they make these stuffups they keep making WHYYY..just listen to your customers feedback..grease your diffs better would be a great start..
I wanna see it at the skatepark
This terrain was more realistic for its durability 👍
@@TomleyRC I get that bro skatepark is just fun. I think I’m gonna have to get one it will go good with my Rlaarlo
Will watch it once I'm off this massive hill I'm on lol
Haha
Back from the family walk now. That car is really cheap for what you get and those MJX style chassis are indestructible. Couple of little mods and it's a winner.
Wow impressive car and durable for that low price!
That's a crud catcher, sod cleaning that honeycomb out 😂👎 half decent platform for a rally car conversion, better than a tamiya all day but with no adjustable camber ,again 👎
Have the 017. Totally looks like a downgrade. If I get a new one Will be a rlaarlo not an WL
This car will be good for Wltoys. Finally they seem to see the value in durability and truth in advertising. Im on board, ordering one for my next review. Nice job as always Tomley!
$120? looks SUPER cheap and easy to break. Amazon reviews say these cars break super fast within 24 hours
Would love a new a959
Wltoys is always a bit hit and miss but this one seems pretty promising, like a cross between the 124xxx and and mjx/hbx 1/16
Hello, good video.. Thank you... For this model, which battery do you recommend to have more life and power without damaging the equipment? Thank you, pending your reply.
I am overall disappointed with the 124008 - I think I expected too much after watching various positive videos. I've now driven the new car for about 1 - 1.5 hours (3 battery charges with the 2000mAh battery). Basically, I find the speed and acceleration insane, but it's a lot of fun.
However, I had to notice that the quick starts, fast switching from forward to reverse, and the occasional crash have left significant marks.
At the end of the third battery charge, the car suddenly started to creak/scream a lot (without a direct preceding crash).
As it turned out when opening it, the pinions and gears have already suffered such significant damage in this short time that I will probably need to replace them. There's a lot of metal debris in the housing. I haven't even taken a closer look at the differential yet.
I am now unsure whether my driving style is so bad and I am pushing the part too hard, or if the material quality is just pretty poor. I was actually leaning towards simply ordering the car a second time to have a second battery and an extensive spare parts inventory. But if I assume that I will have to replace various "wear parts" again after another 1-2 hours, it will get expensive quickly.
Did I have false expectations or were the various RUclips videos misleading, where these things come across as very robust? Are the WLToys really that short-lived or do I need to adjust my driving style (less throttle at the start, then full throttle later, etc.)?
That little buggy looks like a tiny shredder! Little sender! Love it looks like it could handle a bit of a beating too!
Except for the fugly factor, can you see/ tell a difference between the 124007 (YUK) and the 124008? As ugly as the 124007 is, they want MORE money for it. WHY?
I still prefer mjx hyper go over wltoys now because wltoys easy breaking not durable like mjx hyper go
I WANT TO BUY WLTOYS BUGGY AND I'M NOT SURE
WHICH OF THE TWO IS BETTER IS IT WLTOYS 124007 OR WLTOYS 124008? THANK YOU!
Are the shock towers the same in the 124008 as in the 124019? I just broke the plastic shock tower on my 008 and I dont know whether a metal replacement will work?
Thanks
Thanks for the review.
Ive found the plastic shock tower weak and needed to replace within a few runs
broke both my shock towers on first run flipped the car and they shattered so easily, cannot find spare shock tower upgrades to alloy even in Jan 2024 so I have fitted 124007 shock towers after trimming 2mm off the bottom of the front alloy shock tower to prevent it hitting the diff driveshaft cups on the front.
I know this is an old-ish video, but what do you think about 124008 vs 124017 v2? Is the 17 worth the extra $40-50?
I think I’d be inclined to bend the servo posts on the esc, but that said I’d probably upgrade to dumborc receiver. Otherwise a great little rig
Man finally found you . I love you bro. Thank you for the inspiration and knowledge
calm down
Looks like a winner. Is the gear mesh adjustable?
The honeycomb design is from 1993,
Tamiya TA-01 Chassis
Is it me? Or does it seem to have a bit more ground clearance?
You may want to go change your underwear after droppin that bomb @ 2;45ish ,
I want to get into this hobby. All these videos are overwhelming. If you could go back and buy your first rc today what would it be? Thanks
Can convert metal to plastic??
🤷🏼♂️
can you recommend shockoil and diff oil for beginners, what i can get in germany??
only have mjx and wltoys models
Great backflip action! Love the fact that it's 3s straight away and got up to speed stated. Great video ‼️👍👍🦾🦾
what?... a actually GENUINE speed claim on the Box?.. Naah.. don't believe Ya! ;)
Yeah haha… finally
nice video, just curious, for the module battery, so we still need to keep the battery in the storage voltage by our own when not using? or the modulized battery can auto keep its voltage between over charged or lower voltage?
Looks good, not sure if I missed it did you have any issues with throttle response or cogging?
No cogging at all, instant throttle response but I just swapped the Tx and Rx for the Dumbo X6 with Giro receiver for 22 quid 👍
@@stevearmett1565 thanks mate I'm going to get one ordered 👍
@@me.6737 You won't regret it it's a great buggy I took it out for a rip last night but make sure you grease the diffs they were bone dry in mine inside, there was grease outside I can recommend Putoline White Grease with PTFE 👍
More garbage from WL toys. That battery alone makes it a no go.
Garbage? If you say so 😅
Why?
The text actually tell the truth 😂 cool lil car 👍👍
😁
Debating weather to buy one of these or a Mjx 16207, what you do recon?
Debating weather to buy one of these or a Mjx 16207, what you do recon?
Jackson Linda Walker Barbara Rodriguez Maria
There's one thing I'm curious about. I still bash about my OG 144001. It's currently running a 2845 3700 kv can and 19t pinion and hits same speed on 2s. Why do so many new cars require 3s to match performance of my battered old POS on 2s?
Lower gear ratio or lower Kv rating, presumably.
what do you think man this car is really durable or not ? i am thinking between this one or the mjx 1/16 !
Yours and mine came with the latest controllers, no longer the V.2 with the poor range.
Mine is still on preorder hoping to ship by 5/12! Adding to my small WLToys collection!
If you were to compare it to a 12428, did they actually make the whole thing 1/12 scale this time as opposed to just lengthening the 1/14 scale ones? It look as if it might actually be Tomleyproof.
Not a proper comparison… but looks the same as their other 1/12’s
Where are the best most popular places to buy when living in europe? There a many american site but it get so expensive getting it here.
Phil, can i use the shock tower from the 124017 ?
2:47 T…raxxas😂👌
😅
Hi. the only video that shows that drifting is possible.
You gotta put a little sign up requesting the construction workers smooth out their mounds "how do you expect us to jump in all this rubbish"? lol
Haha
Starts with a T ends with 💩!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪
i like it but the plastic isn't the same as others and the screws that hold it together . I guess thats the price diffrence
It’s Nylon & Fibreglass apparently
How is plastic more durable than metal?
what batteries were the model of the two batteries you tried?
Does it has any throtle delay???
As previous brushless Wltoys?
none that I noticed
Does anyone know what app I need to download to use the camera on an iPhone?
