What an epic buggy! It was so close to being Flawless if it had the original transmitter and featured a normal battery instead of the low capacity proprietary battery. I am glad WLTOYS have finally given us a decent release! What do you think? See you on the next one! 💯😎👍
I don't mind that they included the battery that way. The plastic casing makes the battery more impact resistant, and it's very easy to convert it to allow for standard LiPos.
I’m thinking the battery is designed like that for the less experienced users, a normal lipo you need to check all wires are secured whereas this battery design solves this issue. No balance lead getting rubbed by the drive shaft or anything. Obviously they catered for the more experienced users by making it compatible with non modular batteries. In fact, my complaint on this one is still using Deans connectors, xt60 would imho be a better choice.
An honest review as ever. I had the one that Cogged which has put me off this brand, but I am tempted now. I personally love 1:10 scale and would love to see this in these better value brands. Thank you.
I probably would have bought one but I just got a 144001 for $50 from Walmart and I put the entire brushless system from a team associated dr10 drag car as I will be upgrading that. Now I have a 1 / 14th 3s rocket ship.
Supposedly, that new transmitter is backward compatible and will bind to all WLToys vehicles. They finally got it through their heads that the 1420XX models needed to be 1/12 wide was well as the length. The added ground clearance is nice too.
I have been using my 124017 as a speed run car and I am really happy with it. The transmitter for me isn’t a big deal because the first thing I change out of them is the receiver and transmitter because I have all my cars on 1 transmitter for ease. The One thing I would like to see WL toys change is to go to a more readily available gear pitch on their cars. Something like a standard 32 pitch or 48 pitch. It would also be really nice to have an adjustable motor mount standard in the cars
Alright. I'm impressed. They did really good with this. Transmitter sucks ofc. But i dont think someone just getting in would care, most of us watching this video likely already have a Dumbo/Flysky. What we need to know now are the motor mount and gearing and parts compatibility. Not like it would need upgrading really
Gracias
Dude awesome review on this! I agree with everything you said! What a sweet little car. I don’t like these new transmitters either. I definitely prefer the old the previous style Tx , but they should have dual rates on it along with the trim settings. Great job Ricky. Have a great week!👊🏼💯👍🏻😎
Compatible batteries: I am using the original and aftermarket batteries from 2 of my boats. The Feilun ft012 original batteries which are 1800 mah and Wltoys wl916 original and aftermarket 2200mah batteries. These batteries are the perfect width and you will have room to spare in both length and height. Just use velcro and a bit of packing foam to make it snug. Easy to connect after you you take off the connector casing. PS. I’m using 2200mah 35c batteries I bought for the wl916 boat. Watch out because if you drive all out the motor gets very hot ( as does the battery).
It looks quite alright, this one, from them. I stopped buying their products a couple years ago, even before the 14th scale success buggy, I had a couple cars from this brand and I didn't like them... This looks like a good comeback, although I probably still will stay away from it, I have enough keeping up with buying other RC cars, ha ha... Nicely structured review video, very pleasant to watch!
25mph on 2s, I don't see a kv listed I'm pretty sure this is the 16889a pro/ EC30B motor from HBX 3800kv (surpass motor) with 17t pinion if using wltoys diffs and spur. Can you open it for us?
Already bought this unit, thanks for the good review and indeed this buggy is worth the money. However,, WLTOYS should start selling clear body shell. Maybe you could tell them :)
Does it use M3 or M4 axles? That was my big problem with other WLToys models, the 3mm axles and smaller hexes and pins bend and break too easily. The M4 axles on the MJX Hyper Gos are far tougher, and 4mm ID hexes and chunkier 2mm pins are more common and easy to replace.
I have been running it three times. No hits nothing bend or broken but it doesn’t go straight. Probably the servo is too weak. Any recommendation of a great servo that fits in? Can be a more expensive one.
bought two for christmas have aready broken both shock towers on one of them which are not very shock resilient after one roll over it split both of them, the stockist doesnt even stock the repolacement shock towers for it, so had to adapt a pair from 140007 the previous model to make them fit. the gear boxes are also devoid of grease on arrival so its a pretty big job to strip them down and put in some lithium grease, not the most impressive RTR car out there in terms of durabili8ty, id keep your money and look for so9mething a bit more bash proof.
Nice review! I ordered it yesterday with the 2000MAh battery. Do you think swapping the plastic front and rear arms with metallic ones is a good idea? Also I saw you running it with 2S. Is there a possibility of them doing harm to the motor? I find it an nice idea using them in order to let my little boy use it as it is slower with them. Cheers from Athens Greece!
Just got one of these and a motorcycle ran it over just bent the shell and kept going!!! No damage to the chassis or suspension 😮😮… the only issue with the car so far is I’m getting a slight delay
I wonder what speed that would get with a better battery and some nice contact foams on Rik? They have certainly come a long way since your original videos on the 144001... So have you for that mateer mate!!
Hello, mine only has 4 lipos, no shock, no jumps and the dogbone came out of place and roughened the mouth of the cup, apparently they come short since the pins that go inside the cup when they are horizontal go a little outside but when they are vertical one of them comes out of the cup... And that was the problem,.. You've noticed that... Has something similar happened to you ?
Hey dude, awesome review as always. I purchased 2 of these after watching your video, it was awesome fun for 20 mins until I broke it. I'm looking for upgraded arms etc but can't seem to find anything, do you know if older model arms are compatible? Any help is appreciated, keep up the good work
124007 parts from ebay will fit except the alloy front shock towers which need 2mm removing from the bottom with a grinder, the rear alloy shock towers fit fine, the 124007 all alloy 1/14th scale shocks fit to.
I used to race RC's so maybe my view is a little askew, but I don't understand why WLToys is getting heat at all. At this price point you can't beat what they offer, proprietary battery or not. You're absolutely correct on the reasoning, batteries have a HUGE profit margin which is exactly why Traxxas went proprietary. Is their stuff perfect, nah, but you should know that going in. I don't care about a couple of claimed mph when you're paying this little for this quality. WLToys is hardly the only offender here and some of the other brands have bigger names and cost 3 times as much. The controller is hideous, but probably how they kept the cost down. Looks like I'm adding another WLToys vehicle to the inventory.
Amazing how much it looks like the MJX Hyper Go Brushless series. I like to Imagine that those drive shafts are more rugged than the previous ones. Good move on Wltoys but I think I will keep buying MJX. Does anyone happen to know how to make the third party batteries stay in the tray with these type of honey comb structured surfaces? My velcro strip came off after two days of use.
Ahhh I'm torn between this and the hyper go Brushless. What should I go for? Both are around the same price, but the hyper go includes the 2s battery instead of 3s. I want to do some skate park bashing, some speedruns (just because :D ) and offroading. It's a bit of a mixed bag. I CAN'T DECIDE PLEASE SEND HELP xD Anyways great video as always!
I have to hyper go it goes faster and is more of a basher. Two 3s batteries will cost you $30 and a charger is $10. I think it’s deff worth it, it almost seems indestructible
I have the hypergo and I launched it 30 feet and nothing broke and I have the 1/16 scale and I also own a traxxas 1/16 erevo and I have snapped A arms multiple times. Hyper Go are built tuff I can say
I just received this car I bought after looking at all the enthusiastic reviews. Sadly the first impressions are not in line with the expectations. In particular I find the throttle response incredibly bad with huge deadzone in both driving and braking directions. Around 50% of the full stroke has no effect and the torque modulation happens in a short amount of travel making fine control impossible. All my other RC cars are brushed so maybe I'm expecting too much from a cheap brushless esc, but at the moment I'm pretty disappointed. It's a shame as in every other aspect the car is magnificent and overall quality is better than expected.
