Mine is on the way. I haven't even reviewed it yet and i can already tell it's the best buggy WLtoys has ever made. Hands down. So what it's not as fast, pop on a pinion and there ya go. Great video, thanks for showing that you can release the battery connector wire from its position.
Ha, nice! Man, I used to live in Perth and Freo - the cry of those crows really takes me back. So many perfect places around there for RC, not to mention mountain bikes, motorcycles… Ordered mine a week ago with the option of two 2000-mAh batteries, and looking forward to its arrival.
Also at midnight on a Saturday, I'm sitting here looking at Amazon, and this exact buggy with the 3S battery is staring at me for $129 with $20 off and a 5% discount. That's all US money. I think I'm fixing to have a new car lol
I like the looks and colors of the shell. Can the shell and the dog bones of this fit and replace the ones of the 124017 without any issues, problems? 😕 Thanks.
WLtoys have made the 124008 with enough subtle differences to the MJX 16207, so that MJX cannot make a copyright claim, these guys are really sneaky! LOL!!! The 16207 really kicks @ss with its 2845 motor compared to the 2838 motor of the 124008. An upgrade I am considering for mine is to fit the tyres and wheels of the MJX 16207.
The A959-A also uses the V2 transmitter now, so it should also bind with the newer transmitter. BTW, yet another heart-warming feel good video from you, thank you Dave! You make me wish every day that Star Trek was real, so that I can beam over to you there in OZ for some RC fun, coffee and blueberry muffins!
The plastic shock towers failed on Phil Tomley's very extreme skate park durability test eventually leading to complete destruction of the car, so going retro on the shock towers and fit the metal ones of the previous model might be a good idea if you want to give this buggy such an extreme workout.
the plastic shock towers are way better for general bashing than the metal shock tower of the older model, less likely to bend and plastic absorbs majority of the shock without breaking
Thanks for the Makerfire coupon code! I am so tempted to grab one of these... Maybe a strange question, but do Makerfire etc double-box or wrap these cars before they post them? Or can the couriers and everyone see the product packaging and know it's a RC car? Thanks!
Hello, mine only has 4 lipos, no shock, no jumps and the dogbone came out of place and roughened the mouth of the cup, apparently they come short since the pins that go inside the cup when they are horizontal go a little outside but when they are vertical one of them comes out of the cup... And that was the problem,.. You've noticed that... Has something similar happened to you ?
I never encountered that issue so far with the rear dog bone popping out on any of these wltoys buggies and i have a fair few of them, only time i can think of where i may have had a dog bone actually fly out was when i've had a bad crash landing after a huge jump but not normal driving around on a flat surface.
Hey do you know what opinion is in the 008... Is it metal do you know what the spur gear is.. Can you maybe do a video where you disassemble it and see what the gears are like
Are you referring to the plastic shock towers on this model compared to the older models or vice versa? in any case i am not 100% sure they will fit as the chassis are different. Thanks for watching
I don't consider that a WL toys I consider that a MJX hyper go. Just because of that I think I'm going to pick one of them up cuz I know it's going to be very durable and very fast.😮😮😊
I just received this car I bought after looking at all the enthusiastic reviews. Sadly the first impressions are not in line with the expectations. In particular I find the throttle response incredibly bad with huge deadzone in both driving and braking directions. Around 50% of the full stroke has no effect and the torque modulation happens in a short amount of travel making fine control impossible. All my other RC cars are brushed so maybe I'm expecting too much from a cheap brushless esc, but at the moment I'm pretty disappointed. It's a shame as in every other aspect the car is magnificent and overall quality is better than expected.
I'm not trying to be pretentious, or act like I know everything, so hopefully you won't take it that way. I think you may be operating thinking incorrectly about batteries. When you're talking about performance, as far as power increasing speed, the mah is not the number you need to focus on, that is just a measurement of duration. For increases in power/speed, you need to pay attention to the discharge rate. Represented by "c". The higher the c, the more power going to the motor. Like a 3s 35c may not be as quick as a 2s 120c. So, I'm absolutely not a know-it-all, and I very may well be mistaken, but it's my understanding that the c is representing the discharge rate and that adds performance where the milliamps adds to the run time.
Yeah higher C rating does make a difference in punch performance of the lipo but also the increase in size of mah does as well. If I had say a 3s 1000mah 120c lipo vs a 3s 3000mah 120c lipo, the performance is not the same. The smaller 1000mah will have a voltage drop as it simply does not have enough mah on discharge of 120c while the larger 3000mah lipo will have no voltage sag at all so will far out perform the smaller lipo. The capacity size of MAH as well as Discharge rate are both important performance wise. I've tested and bought hundreds of lipos in the past few years in this hobby.
No they can't, the motor mount and gearing is different, entire chassis is different, only thing that is the same is the wheels and tyres and swing arms and shocks basically
@@PERTHWESTOZRC Darn, I was hoping you could simply replace the differential with the new version with the larger cups and be able to use the stronger dogbones that way since the swingarms are the same. Thanks for replying
@@PERTHWESTOZRC awesome, thanks boss, I made the right purchase yesterday then, after watching it getting hammered at a skatepark and your video it was a no brainer, all cars have their faults but this looks pretty solid for a cheap car, I’m in my late 40s now and enjoyed the old tamiya cars back in the 90s and 2000s so this car will be a starter to get back into them, thanks again for the knowledge mate, is there any way to contact you if I need to know anything? Oh ok thanks. But the new V2 versions of 124017 and 124016 have the blue wheel one right? I have been looking at those two but have been very confused as to which is supposed to be the new version without the cogging issues. I see that there are some of those cars that come with controllers that look like the red one from 124008 but blue instead of red.
First of all thanks for watching the video, I can suggest something you can try so you can drive this rc car or any rc car easily with the standard pistol grip transmitter. Have the TX laying horizontally in your hands with the steering wheel on the left, facing up so you can steer with your left hand, and use your right hand for the trigger, give that a shot 👍
Again, always confusing the consumers with how they're using strange naming convention to define their product type... This RC has many major improvement compared to the 124007, which yeah...

Great price..but how long would it last?
For an on and off basher it would be nice for someone for sure.

I Finally received my first WLtoys, an A959-A buggy, and I am very, very impressed with it!

I think this will look awesome with the wheelie bar of the MJX Hyper Go 16207!

Hi Dave, does this RC transmiiter have better range than the MJX Hyper Go 16208 and 16209 transmitters?
Have not tried that , but i am guessing it would not as the receiver looks to be from Wltoys not MJX
