The biggest problem with the hard cases is that you're meant to either leave them fully charged or fully uncharged, because you can't storage charge it. If only they included a banace cable with the battery, it'd shut people like us up. I find a velcro strap anchored to the battery clip works AOK for holding standard batteries. I've got a 25mm wide strap that wraps longways.
There's not a balance plug on the same end as the battery connector? A cheap balance cable extender will remedy that if it does.🤷🏾♂️ But that's for advanced users who already have better lipo chargers...
@@VDVC-RC yep, they should include that $2 cable. its not something even people with hobby chargers have. But the novice storing their battery at either 0% or 100% can't be safe or good for the battery
These are aimed at novices, so I totally get your point, but it really depends on where the lvc Is set. I highly doubt it, but these could actually be smart batteries that "self discharge" 😂 Lemme go order one to test & review
@@VDVC-RC nobody really considered battery health on laptops, a cynic could say its to sell more batteries. Only now in road cars is battery life becoming a selling point. But the old mjx trucks had "smart" batteries that could show you charge. It was one step towards storage charging. And they had this annoying clip. But yeah I'd be happy with the $2 cable
If the USB chargers they supplied had detachable balance cables that you could use with your own balance charger, problem solved, no extra cable required
the great thing about wltoys is theyre cheap and they listen to their customers which is super rare now days. the thing i wish they would do is get an 1/8 scale buggy and then take their 10th scale and get themm track ready as much as possible and give us premium parts to buy so people can start racing for way cheaper than currently. I have a feeling these guys are gonna be the next traxxas and arma honestly because they put out some awesome stuff for starters or people with smaller budgets.
Rlaarlo has a sale on their 1/14 brushed rtr for $99 at the moment. About the same price as the wltoys 144001 but with much better quality and 99% interchangeable parts between both platforms.
Not sure where you get your information from but this company does not listen to their customers. Very far from it. If they would listen to the customers they'd be top-notch top dog right now. WL toys are going downhill. If they listen to the customers they wouldn't put brushed motors in their newer vehicles. And we wouldn't have to complain about oil-filled shocks they would just put friction shocks on it. If they didn't complain about this car this car would have came with friction shocks.
I needed that, I needed a mount for a 36-something brushless motor. My 124008 is modded (2840 to 2958 4480kv on 3s) . I put a new 120a esc on the battery side and I needed to fit a tab to keep the battery from sliding in the steering linkage that is facing backwards. The tires are good but don't last very long, the shock towers are weak and I need to throw away the servo saver it's stripped. Other than that I'm happy with it good platform for a low price imo.
How did you go? I have a 124019 I converted to brushless and was going to make a speedrun car but it snapped a rear axle and I could never find the exact replacement part for it, I got sick of looking at it today and ordered one of these and am wondering how much luck people had upgrading/fitting the parts. I plan on putting a Surpass 3650, Ezrun Max10 and a 100c 4s CHNL drone battery in it and see how it goes against my 6s Typhon just on the road.
They have stiff competition. I don't think they appreciate that consumers have a better appreciation of what they want then they did just a couple years ago in this segment of the market. We're still seeing all of them playing games with the quality of components and it's up to reviewers like you to dig down into the details to bring value to these reviews. What is sorely being neglected is the quality of the components. Just to say it has a metal gearbox doesn't state the quality of metal which they have varying qualities; sintered, zinc etc.. Looking at a transmitters how well do they perform? What distance can be obtained? How much latency is there? Do they accept LiPo's? I think many of us could give a short list of what should be covered in a review that really exposes the value differences between these models.
I fully appreciate your views on this. As a creator its tough. People want short, sharp and straight to the point over in depth breakdowns. People simply get bored these days which makes it incredibly hard to create such an in depth video without losing people. This is why me and a lot of channels cover the essentials then move straight on. Some channels do the move in depth stuff which is a great service to the hobby but again its rare) Truth is at this budget level i dont think most people care about the quality of metals. If its cheap they will buy it. Sad but true.
@@beyondRC I'd just flash up a score sheet at the end of the video. The criteria between these variations are sadly predictable but require tear down and investigation. Likely a result of using many of the same suppliers for components. The results often come down to their choice of going top shelf or bottom shelf in their component selection and where they decide they can get away with cutting a corner. Lately there's been a move to rework ESC firmware to remove 3S support even though many reviewers receive versions that will support 3S. Makes me think they are sugaring the samples with better components or don't expect them to fail in the time it takes to make a review. Reviewers seems to be getting 3S supported firmware and the purchased units come with a warning label 2S only with firmware that falls flat when it sees 3S voltage. Wltoys is one manufacturer that is doing this.

I was hoping they would have used this chassis and stuck the electronics from the 124017 in it. All my batteries are 2s while the 124010 and the 124008 would be terribly slow on 2s with their smaller motors.
Just another reminiscence of boring 124019... I have mine locked in the glass display collecting dust. The ESC will turn super hot after 10 min of run...
