Funky Chunky Poncho Crochet Pattern
By Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs
I am so in love with the Funky Chunky Poncho
Crochet Pattern.
Yes, I designed this one for me.
It's a quick pattern to stitch up, and has a "Retro
Hippie Vive to it, which I Love.
I wanted it to be designed with a super bulky yarn,
and The Anniversary cakes from Yarnspirations /
Caron are perfect for this project. Although any Super
Bulky (6) yarn will work for this project.
I have been working On The Crochet Pattern design
For About a year. I wanted it to be roomy, comfortable
and fun to wear, so I designed it in 3 sizes -
Size 1 - XS/S - 21 inch neck opening
Size 2 - M/ L - 25 inch neck opening
Size 3 - Xl/ 2 XL - 27inch neck Opening
Now remember, everyone's tension might be different,
so be sure to measure as you go.
And of course the length is up to you.

Hi there
Thankyou so much for creating this pattern for us all! I have several balls of this anniversary cake yarn so am very glad to have such a fun thing to make with at least one ball. I'm wondering if you'd be will to design a hood to add to it???😁😁😁
I crochet, make jewelry and make jewelry and accessories and small sculptures/figurines with polymer clay. I'm attempting g to bring the 3 together...
What is nice is that I can customize pieces with color and pattern of yarn. So, I plan on building on the 'Funky' aspect that you introduced in this pattern. A hood would be awesome!
Let me know what you think
I have several hood patterns that will work just fine with this pattern. You can find them my youtube playlists.
Love the colors and style!
Thank you so much!
Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!

You’re welcome 😊
I love this pattern, do you have the instructions for children? I would love to crochet ponchos for my Great granddaughters ages 4& 6. Thanks for sharing. 🤗💕👍
We are working on a child's Version, Should be ready out soon.
I'm leaving it open cause I didn't quite long enough then braid yarn and make poof balls
Sorry that I just found this, I have been searching days for a poncho, this is what I’ve been looking for, but I want for the summer to be light weight, can I use 4 weight, if yes can I use a L needle too. Thanks for sharing this.Awesome❤
If You use 4 weight yarn you will need to adjust the sizing, I would recommend a I / 5.5 Mm hook. But, I have not worked up the sizing or crochet hook for making this in a 4 Weight Yarn.
@@SaraSach thank you so much for the speedy reply❤, your tutorial was awesome!!!!!
Thank you for the video. Would it be possible to make a blanket yarn poncho?
I have never made a Poncho out of blanket yarn. It's an interesting idea.
Hi Sara I love this pattern! I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews for this particular yarn - too thin, splitting, knots, did you experience this with your cake ? I’ll take a run up to Michael’s today and see if they have the Sour Cherry color 👍🏻
Mine was all wonderful. I have used about 5 different cakes. Very consistent in the thickness and colorway, no splitting and very few knots. My Michaels just had them on sale.
@@SaraSach Awesome I can’t wait to start mine 😊
Can I use a bulky size 5 yarn instead. I have so much of this yarn I want to use up!
You can, but it will stitch up smaller since it's smaller weight yarn.
How many cakes does it take for the XL size.
Depends on the length you make it, but less than the one cake.
Thank you! I can’t wait to make one… I needed to know bc I am ordering the yarn now!
I live in Miami and want a lighter weight yarn . How can you adapt this pattern? Thank You
This pattern is designed for bulky yarn. You will want to find a pattern designed for lighter weight yarn.
Hello,
My bulky is #5. Will it work for this pattern.??
Yes, but it will be a little smaller, so you will need to add some additional Rows for the length. You also will need to go down a hook size.
I can't figure out how to get the neck done
I am totally lost...when I maké the circle. I always go into the whole to put the stitches and you didn't...I'm post...this is not a beginner
You are correct, this is not a beginner crochet pattern. It is a Easy Crochet pattern. There is a difference. Beginner is basic stitches, this is not. If you are struggling, I suggest you click the link provided in the notes under the video, it has the written pattern, with many pictures that might help you.
I got it my way
