I'm surprised the Fed are talking multiple cuts. I was expecting maybe one early enough before elections to give the current party a bump. Actually this rate cut talk might be mainstream media and not necessarily the Fed?

Powell said he would make monetary decisions based on politics. Hmmm…we’ll see! 😊

We will be in a recession next year, if we're not already in one now. This is the reason why the Fed is talking about rate cuts. It's just a matter of how bad the recession will be. Some top financial analysts believe that it will be severe. Real estate usually doesn't do well during recessions, so we're likely to see continuing declines in real estate prices across the U.S. Even though interest rates may be lower, it can be hard for people to get loans due to income decline and existing heavy debt. Cash will be king in the real estate market in the near term and gold will be king in the long term.

There could be a recession next year, but we’ll see. Even if we do end up in recession territory, that could be good for rates since the fed would probably just be more aggressive with scaling them back.
So far the fed has achieved a softer landing than I thought they would. Yes the energy sector is still up, but all things considered we’re not all that bad off considering where we were a year ago (9.1% inflation down to 3.4%). Their latest presser was a clear indication that they are satisfied with the results and are feeling confident about the current trajectory.
