    when i lose video, i flip to self level mode and punch out for half a second. if i still dont get video back in two seconds, i disarm. This has saved me several times when i go behind some trees, and this is the only reason I keep self level mode ready on a switch. Also, I only do it when it makes sense. Obviously in a bando it would be stupid to punch into the ceiling.

    • @rcrdps8144
      @rcrdps8144 5 лет назад

      @@du4-fpv777 I've previously flown with HDO, RapidFire, and a Ratel. Since I got DJI, I have only flown the analog systems while my waiting on parts for my digital drone. There are others that have done long range tests. The DJI is no better, no worse. That is my experience at lesser range but more obstacles. There are spots that I would only fly my RapidFire when I was testing new antennas. I can fly those same spots with DJI, but like RapidFire, it's a place I avoid for most flying.
      Clarity at 50 feet and Minecraft past the first tree is a trait of analog. Digital is the exact opposite. Stuff that is close is moving faster, so it compresses it more. But you can see powerlines from a looooong ways off.

    • @jdogflipper7997
      @jdogflipper7997 5 лет назад +1

      Du4 FPV I think DJI belongs in fpv if they are making better products than everyone else, and despite what u think this DJI system is the best fpv system currently it has just as much range as analog, and this system will only get better. If DJI focuses on fpv they will make the best fpv products. I’m not saying this cus I I love DJI, as a matter of fact all my stuff right now is fatshark, but I’m just sayin DJI has way more developers than other fpv companies. Fatshark and others will catch up, but I think it won’t be for a while, and if DJI keeps focusing on fpv they will keep making even better stuff, and I don’t think this should be looked at as a bad thing it’s 2019 and we’re still using boring old analog. This is like the release of the first HD tv, or the first smart phone in the fpv world

      @@du4-fpv777 Glad I'll have someone to sell my HDO's to. :D I thought I wasn't going to get anything for them. Right now though, they're my backup and are adequate for indoor whoop flying. My impressions are that man-made(inside) objects look fine with analog. God-made (outdoors) objects are much better in HD. I'm giving away my Sky03's this weekend. I'm also holding on to the HDO's for the remote chance that the Fatshark HD system becomes all the rage,.. but I'm really doubting it.
      And by the way, the DJI ain't delicate. I had it strapped to the bottom of my CineBee( see my videos), and ran it into one of my sheds, and then it fell quite a ways. No harm done. And I bounced my new 3 inch drone off the concrete a few times today(airmode idle caused a flyaway-ish). Bent a motor,..... sigh,... No problems with the DJI system. I'll just have to deal with jello until the new motor comes in because I'm dying to get the DJI back in the air.

That's some real good advise. Only a trained / experienced LOS pilot should attempt recovery on video loss IF the quad is within visual range in my opinion. I did notice the other day that as soon as I hit record I was loosing frames like that badly and it felt like latency. Had to format the sdcard in the air unit to fix it, might be something to check. @7:43 tsk, tsk,.... Hook up the FC wires! No need to manually turn on DVR,... and it dynamically switches the power-level for "pit-mode".
    No need for 25mw in the US. With stock antennas, it's FCC cleared to go full power. No HAM needed,.. I know, I know,... races only allow 25mw. But everything has to be re-structured with a digital unit on the field anyways. Even at very low wattage of 5ghz WiFi, I had to change analog channels at home to keep those random white bars out of my video.

    @Joshuabardwell I have two questions. Regarding the tiny Hawk s, can I fly a 2s battery in profile 1, cus 2 is very aggressive indoors? Regarding the Taranis 9d se can I change the throttle mechanism like the DJI drone setups so the drone can hold altitude when I leave the throttle, I am used to DJI drones for years and I am fed up of trying to hold altitude in low speeds. Thank you.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  5 лет назад +1

      Emax says you absolutely must use profile 2 for 2S.
      No you cannot set up the Taranis or Betaflight to hold altitude. The quad does not have the sensors or programming to do this. It's an acro/racing quad not a camera platform like DJI. You must learn to hold altitude yourself if you want to fly it.

      Only if you are using DJI for control. You have the option to control the quad using FrSky, FlySky, Crossfire, Spektrum, or any other traditional control link, if you so prefer. The "video" part of the DJI FPV system does not require the use of the "controller" part.

    These kids think they are racers these days with their HD video, smartvtxs and betaflight 4.0 audio nonsense. That's not real racing! Back in my day you couldn't even touch a gate because your props would explode and we didn't have any wide dynamic range neither. The screen would go pitch black if you even thought about changing lighting conditions. We liked it that way too. And the flight control software was proper too, proper vibrations so the whole quad felt like it was going to fall apart when you gave it some throttle. These racers today don't know anything. 6s pah, 3s was good enough then and it's good enough now.

      Joshua Bardwell I was curious about that mode.
      In the spec it’s 120fps 720 in low latency vs 60fps 720 for normal mode.
      That’s counter intuitive to me, I would expect lower frame rate or rez for lower latency (less data)

    • @eparg1
      @eparg1 5 лет назад

      slartibartphast you bring up a good topic about frame rate. 60fps (what our analog systems use) has a baseline latency of 16.7ms, it can’t get any faster than that. The DJI system in low latency 120fps has a baseline latency of 8.3ms. The higher the frame rate the lower the latency.
