So tired of people ignoring this, they've both got the same politics and ideology and had the same agenda with the show, they came together and Chibnall handed the job to her on a plate (after intitially refusing to become showrunner so was probably one of his conditions), she wouldn't be pretending to be the 13th Doctor if Chibnall wasn't writing her! I’m going to be completely honest. 13 has had good moments but nothing about her is all that great. It’s not Whittaker’s fault but she’s suffering because of Chibnall. If Davies or Moffat had written her, she would have had several iconic moments already. Davies is great with character development and Moffat took risks with episodes. Chibnall doesn’t excel at either of these.
It’s the exact same thing that happened with Colin Baker; he was a fine actor and would’ve made a wonderful Doctor, but the writers well and truly f*cked him up
@@Liutgard That's what kept me optimistic at first. I was a little nervous when I heard he was taking over but I wanted to give him a chance (at least a season) before I came to a decision. He is very into the action of the episode but leaves little room for growth/development and the action itself can be very messy akin to a DC movie. Yes, his politically charged episodes can be cringe inducing but that isn't what detracts me. Doctor Who is and has always been very political, but I miss having a doctor I could root for. Jodie just lacks on screen authority as the doctor. Jo Martin felt like she was the doctor and her own unique incarnation. Jodie feels like she's reading lines and doing her best impression of Smith and Tennant. I also just don't buy the relationship between her and the companions. It feels so forced. I'm not ready to give up on my favorite show but I miss some of the old nuances.
@@baxatakbaxatak2014 Yeah, but Torchwood had a very different tone. I know they had similar personnel and gadgets, but they were sooo not the same program...
I honestly feel like Jodie could make a pretty good Dark Doctor. But instead writers seems to want her to be a poor diet version of Tennant who runs around like a headless chicken.
I know how everyone is hating on the latest doctor. But isn't the way she's acting all because of the 12th doctor? 12 told her to be good and never cruel. To laugh and be happy and kind. She's only doing her best. Though I will he lying to say that I don't look forward to the day that she eventually snaps and explores the dark side of The Doctor..
The story is rather in consistent, and a bit all over the place, like boardroom full of meth addicts. She is actually a wonderful actor, but sometimes you just kinda wish for a bit more energy at the better moments, like the reveals... so I am hoping she gets a bit more of a stable and energetic persona down the line
in my opinion her acting is superb. Jodie Witthaker's amazin. the storylines are so poor, and silly themselves...that is the problem. 11th was somekind of brilliant and sad at the same time. 12th was grumpy and sweet because of their storylines. I hope next seaon will me wittten way better beacause a Doctor "woman" is a good plot
livia Jod Agreed. Exactly what I’m saying. The Timeless Child plot point changed nothing in the Whoniverse, but it takes the risk out of the episodes, that if you are killed, you are one regeneration closer to death. Now, the Doctor can just jump right in, take the enemy out, get killed, regenerate, and the circumstance doesn’t change. The Doctor is now ♾ regenerations away from death. Not to mention, Season 11 was poor, music was less than subpar (mainly because there was none, nor any character themes, just an eerie, spooky, unchanging tone), Season 12 brought back the Master, a fan favourite, but quickly went downhill, like Spyfall Pt. 2 was a rushed storyline, an Indian Nazi, and Barton just peaced out without a word. The rest only got worse. I will say, though, that I still liked the Spyfall storyline, Haunting of Villa Diodati, and Ascension of the Cybermen, but the Timeless Children... That episode dropped the ball terribly. Ashad, the Master, Gallifrey, the Cyber Masters, all good, but not only was the plot bad, Ashad was just swept aside, and Ko Sharmus just walked in, not shot at, and destroyed everything, as well as any hope of a good idea or good storyline.
All the time She forget to refer to herself as a woman are brilliant She is more like 10th and 11th. I am watching now season 12 (new who) and it's better than season 11. The companion are so wrong. Just think about the Donna Noble storyline a carachter silly and annoying but truly human. She saved the freaking universe. Or any other companion in the last 15 years. They all have a storyline entangled with the faith of the doctor and the universe. Those companion are just travelling with the doctor because it's fun. Is it all about travelling around space and time and hanging around?
I swear I laughed at that when I put my subtitles on, and I never intended to do that because I love that speech xD What the hell, subtitles?? Why would you do Capaldi like that? I swear it's a Dalek Masterplan or something. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a monk meddling with the translator too. Maybe he secretly works on the IT department, I mean... that would certainly explain the "highly trained monk-eys" Google keeps talking about whenever there's a server error.
I think it's in the way that she didn't bother to watch any Doctor Who before taking the roll. She just watched David for a bit and then tried to copy him. Preparation complete.
I'm so ambivalent on the 13th Doctor: - On the one hand, scenes like these show that Jodie makes a good doctor and really has had some great moments. - But, on the other-hand, the writing... oh God the writing... 3 episodes into the newest series, and the choices made by the writer are just abominable. I'm no expert, but honestly, I (and most fans) could probably pick out the issues. *Spoiler for Orphan 55 episode:* Like in the Orphan 55 episode, where instead of doing all she could to save the remaining people, the doctor opted to lecture her companions on global warming. Are you kidding me writers!?
Yep, before I think the Doctor would go back to Orphan 55 to save Bella and her mother. The Doctor knew the coordinates and the Time period. She could did it. Maybe she did it off-screen, but it's stupid tho
i just thought of it as comforting her companions and giving them hope when they were distraught at seeing their home destroyed. Also you gotta admit her mood was different in that episode. she was much more snarky and edgy. i was living for it.
@@Thief555WWJD well, in a way, her reaction was very logical. She saw her home destroyed and her mood became darker, so it's finally a good Doctor's reaction: give the others some hope so they're not sad and in a very bad mood like her. (Also sorry for my english, I'm french and I do my best :)
marcelo guedes sorry but I disagree - part 1 was alright (lots of potential, nice twist) but part too was a huge let down (although I did enjoy some of the scenes in the past with the doctor and master)
Even if the writing so far for Jodie’s era has been a pivotal problem, I can enjoy Jodie’s era because of Jodie, Bradley, Tosin, Mandip and now Sacha as well. So if Doctor Who on TV comes to another abrupt cancellation like the classic series, I’m confident that Big Finish will do justice for Jodie and company as they have for Colin, Nicola, Bonnie, Sylvester, Sophie and Paul. Thank you, Jodie. 💖

All of the times watching doctor who, and all the girls being obsessed with the doctor and his cuteness I was just like oh he's cool calm down. Now I'm like obsessed with Jodie as the doctor lol how the tables have turned lol
I was initially disappointed when I found out the doctor was gonna be a woman, purely because I was really hoping for another “dashing young man” to crush on.... turns out Jody works just as well lmao I love her so much 😂😂
“Youve redecorated… i really like it” The doctor says this alternate of the usual “i dont like it” because before regenerating, 12 came to accept change, because before he hated the change but now he/she has made peace with it.
I feel like the destruction of the TARDIS wasn't earned here, unlike in End of Time with Tennant's regeneration. With that one, there's explosions, some of the coral arches collapse, there's significant amounts of fire, etc. Here there's just a bit of sparking and smoke, and nothing really goes wrong until the Doctor presses a button.
@@sirdeadlock I'm not a fan of the personification of the TARDIS. But yeah, I feel like it's been misused so far in the Chibnall era. Most episodes it's just a way to take them to the story, then in Spyfall part 2 it's a lazy way to conclude the story (Oh, the Doctor fixed the problem off screen).
After rewatching several episodes of the last two seasons recently, I hold the controversial opinion that Chibnall’s writing isn’t nearly as bad as it seemed at first. And Jodie kills it in pretty much every episode. I can’t wait to see the new year’s special.
I personally enjoyed the last two seasons. I think Jodie's Doctor is fantastic and a breath of fresh air after Capaldi's cranky old man. There are some pacing issues when it comes to the writing but every who season has had those issues. People are just up in arms because it's a female doctor and Chib, he has his flaws, favors the show being like it used to be. The show was originally meany to be educational and the early classic seasons had plenty of episodes set during historical events. NuWho has had plenty of episodes regarding the planet or race but 13 is were they really dive into it. I also don't understand why people complain about the current companions not being fleshed out when, sorry, last companions in NuWho has had the same treatment. They either love the Doctor and will do anything for them or they don't want them to be alone. It's just massive backlash because of the worlds current political issues and in a decade or so people will look back on Jodie's Doctor and say it was underrated.
Because kind is having overgrown spiders starve to death and killing some guy with deadly explosive bubble wrap. Kind is also sending her best friend to a Nazi concentration camp while saying "Now they'll see the real you." Okay
it makes me so sad to see so many people hating on Jodie, she's a fabulous actor and I really love her version of the doctor. Anyone has the right to their own opinion but there was no need to hate on her constantly, calm down
I feel like Jodie proved herself as an incredible actor in broadchurch, but the writing for chibnall era doctor who hasn’t matched up. Jodie’s got so much potential but it’s gone to waste with bad writing
it took me a long time to be persuaded to watch Jodies Doctor and I was exactly the same with Matts Doctor but after I watched them I bloody loved them both, ofc some of the writing needs improving but I think Jodie smashed it as the Doctor
Remember when the Fez arrived.. Oh how we all got 11 flashbacks --- “What is on your head?” “Its a Fez, fez’s are cool now” *yeets it into the air and shoots it* ---- Sigh... The good old days
@@ATFDC24 I actually take a lot of offence from this statement. Opinion is different to belief. I am a Christian and don't make fun of other beliefs/atheism. That is just so wrong.
I feel the same. Which is why the current doctor always ends up as my favorite, simply because they are the newest and that's where the excitement is. But I truly love them all, at least those that I've seen.
I feel like because of the awful writing, The Doctor doesn't have that fearing and daring side like the previous doctors. There's no adrenaline rush or I dunno an actual engaging storyline.
That could be because there was not a story arc in jodie's 1st season. They were all single story episodes although 1 villain did appear more than once..
I think the main problem I have with the 13th doctors reign is the fact that I feel like I don't care about anyone in this season. Not Yaz, Graham, Ryan or even The doctor. They could all die and I might not care at all. There's no character development or attachment storylines. In previous seasons we see scenes where the companions are bonding with the doctor and in doing so we also bond with them. But there is none of that in 13's storyline and I hate it. They're just running from mission to mission without any real character plot or story. I also don't like her "goofy yet unfunny" nature but I have hope that her personality will change throughout the series like so many other doctors have before her. Edit: After watching the new season I have to say I also hate the storyline for the doctor with the timeless child plotline and everything. It basically ruins the lore of the doctor that has been set up for 50 straight years and I'm not okay with that. Also, I was really happy that Jodie was the first female doctor but with this storyline she apparently never was and it's infuriating. Her personality is starting to become something better than it was so I do have hope she is becoming her own person.
Once I asked Steven Moffat if he found hard writing different Doctors and giving them their own personalities. He said no, because each actor gave their Doctor a little bit of themselves, which is what made them unique. I absolutely loved this reply. I’m bringing this up because I feel like Jodie is like her Doctor: happy and kind. But I really really wish they’d let her put more of her own personality to her Doctor in order to make the character fully hers! 💙👩💼 She is amazing! I love her!
Too true! If the writers actually bothered to give her character an arc and actually challenge her, she'd be a much more interesting and compelling character. As she is now, she's just a bunch of wasted potential, and that's by far more tragic than rage-inducing,
@@Arkonservative the whole point is tho show that it's not just a male role and they show this by having the 13th doctor constantly forget or mention that she's female because the whole point is that she's an alien. And saying stuff like "men's roles" is the whole reason why ppl are swapping ppl's genders on film to show more representation and dynamic
Yep, seeing as regeneration wasn't always like that. It was a trend started back in 2005, when they wanted to standardize what regeneration should be like.
susanne anique But she also has the power to improve her performance - just look at Capaldi’s performances even with awful scripts. The problem seems to be that she didn’t bother watching any Doctor Who before she auditioned for the role (unlike Matt Smith) and seems to haven’t watched much of it since. I.e. it’s a bit of a problem if the lead actress has watched less of the show than most of the fans watching it.
@@bjnz I don't know how much of the show she needs to OR has already watched. All I know is that my enjoyment of her performance has gone down as we go deeper into her run. The bits I like are the companions like Graham and Ryan and the Master aka Oh. I still blame the writing. Whereas Capaldi had terrible stories through his run, at least his Doctor was distinctive and personal. His monologues were well written, even when the stories sucked. This new Doctor has monologues which are political or cultural sermons. Her distinguishing traits such as her affinity for fixing things are wasted. She lacks idiosyncrasies such as Smith's liking for fish and custard. I want to enjoy her, and I did in the beginning, but now... She's meh, and it's because of the writing I think.
Jodie and Graham are wonderful and they deserve better writers. I hope we get more of season 12's episode 1/2 and less of episode 3. The first two episodes made me hopeful, the 3rd felt like a rushed 2 parter with a bunch of plotholes and filler characters.
Happy birthday, Jodie! Your Doctor is the reason I have become a Whovian. You have brought such a joy and happiness to the role and yet deeply touched me too with a wonderfully acted and cleverly written run.
They putted not so memorable moments in this video. The only ones were her right after Capaldi's regenerations, some moments with the Dalek and some moments in Spyfall. And it's still far from other Doctors's level
Finally someone said it, I do not get her at all. There is nothing unique about her. When she tries to be 11,it turns out silly . I did not give her series a go. Just can't watch it. Of course everyone has an opinion, but I will wait til the next regeneration.
I think 13's really fun and kind, and Jodie is brilliant. She would have been amazing under a different showrunner, but she still put her best into the show and that can't be ignored.
I think she is doing an excellent job of being the Doctor. UK give the actress a break. With Science Fiction it often comes down to the writers. So, give the woman a chance as spoken across the pond.
Yeah the main cast (especially Jodie and Graham) are all very good and renowned UK actors who have done amazing shows. The issue is the director for these last 2 seasons have been terrible.
@@soundautomatic1 'they' and 'they've', not 'it' or 'it's'. You're addressing the most civilized civilization a billion years advanced of humans, remember? (and non-binary humans deserve more respect thank you, save 'it' for daleks)
I think whenever they have Jodie do anything serious she feels like a proper Doctor. I don't mind levity, the Doctor is always like that, but it looks like she's putting on an act (which is paradoxical wrong). Like at 29:10 when she was warning the Dalek, or after when she confronted it, those were all actually pretty good. Jodie can be great Doctor, but it's the writers' fault for such bad stories
Jodie is amazing, loving her as the doctor, and loving the fam. I like how she's such a leader and delegates tasks to them like a little crisis management team 😂 I really wish we could see more bonding and banter between Jodie and the team, that would be great! Also, love dark Jodie, I'm really excited for season 13 and the New Years ep!!!! 💖😍
Laura Klaassen Minnick ohhh so, OHHHH THATS why the TARDIS crashes all the time I don’t know why since the TARDIS is a little bit more organic and aware so it should’ve known? Maybe that’s stretching it
Jodie could have been the best doctor so far because she is such a great actor but she has just had such bad writing and storylines apart from a few. I feel really bad for her because everyone is hating on her!
I really, REALLY expected thirteenth to be different. Her own character. At first I was excited everytime she did/acted something similar to the other doctors, but I soon realized that it's pretty much all there is to her 'character'.
I didn't remember this, but when Doctor regenerates into Matt Smith, one of the first things he said was: "I'm a girl! (touching his long hair) No!...I'm not a girl (touching his adam's apple)." So the Doctor has always known that at some point he could regenerate as a woman. Although for some reason statistically speaking the probability seems to be lower.
What I love is how they made the decision to go from the grumpy yet wise old man that sees the darkness all around to the doctor who looks at the world through childish fresh eyes and a perpetually optimistic demeanour. That’s why I love Doctor Who. Especially peter Capaldi and Jodie Whitaker
Time Lords can somewhat control their regeneration. It is mostly seen in old Who but it can be seen in nuWho when Melody Pond says "Shut up dad I'm focusing on a dress size." before regenerating into River Song, and by the Master regenerating into Missy, not to mention the fact that they give speeches before they regenerate and the new Doctor tries to embody the rules given. The past Doctors have shown that they like Kate so they may have chosen a face like hers like they chose the face of 12 to be the face of a man that 10 almost let die.
1:22 she’s like a baby exploring for the first time. It was sad to see how her first time doing something was a dramatic event. Makes you think how kids with such curiosity and happiness would be robed by trauma and makes it feel like it’s their fault for trying something.

It’s the exact same thing that happened with Colin Baker; he was a fine actor and would’ve made a wonderful Doctor, but the writers well and truly f*cked him up
He is a good writer- I just don't think this is his element. Doctor Who is not Broadchurch.

The way she is acting is because of the shite writing.
All the time She forget to refer to herself as a woman are brilliant
She is more like 10th and 11th.
13th Dr and still leaves the parking brake on while traveling.
The Tardis herself also does, that scene where it materialises has that wheezing sound.

I'm so ambivalent on the 13th Doctor:
- On the one hand, scenes like these show that Jodie makes a good doctor and really has had some great moments.
- But, on the other-hand, the writing... oh God the writing... 3 episodes into the newest series, and the choices made by the writer are just abominable. I'm no expert, but honestly, I (and most fans) could probably pick out the issues.
*Spoiler for Orphan 55 episode:*
Like in the Orphan 55 episode, where instead of doing all she could to save the remaining people, the doctor opted to lecture her companions on global warming.

“Youve redecorated… i really like it”
The doctor says this alternate of the usual “i dont like it” because before regenerating, 12 came to accept change, because before he hated the change but now he/she has made peace with it.
The Tardis was built up as her own Sexy character. Then she was practically ignored the entire season, even after they found her.

Jodie is great. I'm not a fan of chinball with the exception of a few episodes. But it's OK to like his stuff
Twelves last words were to be kind. And Thirteen gave us a kind doctor. One that bottles up everything from her friends to be kind.

Breadcrumbs of an arc tacked onto an end of an episode does not maketh an engaging storyline.
There is now
@@kobeangelesdamelio An engaging stroyline indeed, but the doctor herself is still lacking. Also, the storyline was technically set up in series 11.
Django I’m starting to see her more as the Doctor now. But I don’t believe it’s Jodie. Just the character they set her up to be
I think the main problem I have with the 13th doctors reign is the fact that I feel like I don't care about anyone in this season.
So what exactly happened? I haven't watched since capaldi..

Too true! If the writers actually bothered to give her character an arc and actually challenge her, she'd be a much more interesting and compelling character. As she is now, she's just a bunch of wasted potential, and that's by far more tragic than rage-inducing,
13 seems cute though
It's the writing and the fact that they cast a woman for a male role. Let's be real. The industry ruined another otherwise healthy classic.
Some episodes are enjoyable
@@Arkonservative the whole point is tho show that it's not just a male role and they show this by having the 13th doctor constantly forget or mention that she's female because the whole point is that she's an alien. Isn’t strange how every regeneration is more stronger and powerful?
Yep, seeing as regeneration wasn't always like that. It was a trend started back in 2005, when they wanted to standardize what regeneration should be like.

Raúl Castillo yep

susanne anique But she also has the power to improve her performance - just look at Capaldi’s performances even with awful scripts.
She's meh, and it's because of the writing I think.

well from what i heard the writter are to be blamed along with the apparently really really bad episode i think it was called the timeless child
Yeah the main cast (especially Jodie and Graham) are all very good and renowned UK actors who have done amazing shows. The issue is the director for these last 2 seasons have been terrible.
"It has been long since I bought woman clothes"
Gives me the feeling this is not the first time he's (it's) been a woman
Well the doctor did have daughters if I remember correctly but also the (new) original form of them
First time She's been a woman* daily dose of pronoun correction.
It isn't a nice word. Maybe them would be a better pronoun.
Or it just liked women's clothes
@@soundautomatic1 'they' and 'they've', not 'it' or 'it's'. You're addressing the most civilized civilization a billion years advanced of humans, remember? (and non-binary humans deserve more respect thank you, save 'it' for daleks)
I think 13 will become really dark... she's already had her moments.
I love the Tardis like shaking her out.
STOP. REGENERATING. IN. ME. DAMMIT.
_Thank_ you!
Me too
Does anyone else find it funny that after the regeneration the first thing the Tardis does is try and kill the dr?
I think the Tardis doesn't recognize the Doctor at first.
Laura Klaassen Minnick ohhh so,
OHHHH THATS why the TARDIS crashes all the time
I don’t know why since the TARDIS is a little bit more organic and aware so it should’ve known?
Maybe that’s stretching it
The TARDIS tried to end the show before it could get shit lol
Jodie could have been the best doctor so far because she is such a great actor but she has just had such bad writing and storylines apart from a few. I feel really bad for her because everyone is hating on her!
I totally agree with that.
I totally disagree with that
@@hillaryclinton2415 Whatever dude lmao
@@hillaryclinton2415 these people are so stupid
Funny how the best of thirteen vídeo starts with one of the greatest of 12th.
everyone knows the best bit about 13 is the SCRONCH
“Empty pockets. I HATE empty pockets!”
(touching his long hair) No!...I'm not a girl (touching his adam's apple)."
So the Doctor has always known that at some point he could regenerate as a woman.
Still like how twelves theme song transitioned into tens theme song post regeneration.
“Do you have family?” “No lost them long ago” “how did you cope with that?” Was expecting ; “blew up my planet”
Was Graham...peeing on the back of the TARDIS?
Why was he just standing behind the TARDIS??
Also I stan grace frog
13 is my spirit animal
Doctor = *Why you calling me Madam??*
Yaz= Because Your a Woman 👩
Doctor= *Oh Yeah, SOZ...*
*Half An Hour Ago I Was A White-Haired Scotsman!!!!*
She looks like the head of unit. You know the one that Capaldi's doctor did the zygon speech to. I'm surprised no one noticed
D’you mean Kate Stewart? I suppose there _are_ some similarities
13 presses button
TARDIS ight ima head out
1:22 she’s like a baby exploring for the first time. It was sad to see how her first time doing something was a dramatic event. Makes you think how kids with such curiosity and happiness would be robed by trauma and makes it feel like it’s their fault for trying something.
No matter the scripts or producer... Jodie has been worthy of the name... The Doctor! 👍
Jodie isn't the problem - its the writing and direction.
The Doctor still shouldn't be female, even with good writing
@@rikardandersson5582 at this point can’t anybody be allowed to have an opinion?
@@MightyMarioBros378 OK simp, Riddle me this then, what if a male doctor had the same makeup and hair as the female doctor? Whats that you say? Makeup are for females only? OK then, and the doctor should stay male then
@@rikardandersson5582 did I say I liked Jodie’s era exactly NO
@@rikardandersson5582 I would honestly not care I have no care if a male dressed as a female it’s literally a TV show grow up and stop watching if it bothers you I know I stopped watching her era it was bad
I don't care what anybody says, Jodie's a great Doctor and the writing really hasn't dropped much. I thought every episode of season 12 was great and 13 is even better!
Doctor who sucks
I love season 11 and 12
Season 11-13 was alright 👍
All the bros can sod off, we love thirteen
She sucks.
She does suck.
The writing sucks
@@cmc2838 whoa, no need to be femenist here.
@@cmc2838 yes, but the way that person said it sounded very much like an entitled parent in my opinion.
Wow, hope this comes on Netflix, i like the 13th doctor, reminds me of Tom Baker the 4rth doctor and i really liked the 12th doctor :D
It’s on HBO MAX
