I love eucalyptus bonsai of any sort. So much character, so gnarly and rugged. Represent an Aussie tree perfectly!! One my favourite species to bonsai for sure. Nice one Sammy!
Wow! Sam.. WOW! It's gorgeous! The only thing that surprised me is that you weren't wearing your microphone on your toque like a pompom... That tree is fantastic, right from the story of how it stared to how it looks now.
Aw man I’m barely into this and I feel, the people talking smack, should watch their mouths, and enjoy the information you give. I sure do, and my trees and myself thank you. From the other side of the water, love you mate! You are the best!
finally a decent pot for this beauty, it was well overdue :D perfect match, great nebari exposure. my last comment is a bit ago, hope you're alright so far.
Looks great! I would never have thought you could disturb the roots on a Euc that much! Gives me some confidence to try collecting a couple from my block. Have you ever tried air layering eucalyptus? I have one with a really nice shaped branch that I have been thinking of trying.
@@SamDoeckeAussiebonsaibloke question for you, when you collect gums do you defoliate them when you first pot up? I have dug a couple from my place and did defoliate but wondering if I should have left them a bit first?
I say it every time but I love that River Red Gum and it looks awesome in the new pot. I repotted and root pruned my Desert Ash into a new pot a week ago and it hasn't missed a beat. The new leaves are starting to separate from the buds and powering along. I'm in South Coast NSW. Cheers mate.
Voice sounds much better Sam. Mic looks weird where you have it, but it seems to be the best location for your audio quality. I’ve often wondered where Nigel hides his mic, because I don’t see one anywhere, but his audio always sounds great.
Thank you Sam for your great content. You said this is a Red Gum…..which species? Giant RiverRed Gums. The River Red Gum, Eucalyptus camaldulensis? Or Angophora costata, commonly known as Sydney red gum?
Found this awesome mad lad and has really inspired me to go all out on my Silver Dollar Eucalyptus bonsai idea using a clumping method i have read about so thanks SAM and dont listen to the haters your gums are gorgeous as well as all the other bonsais i have seen of yours! Keep on being awesome! PS. Are all Eucalyptus (particularly the Silver Dollar Eucalpytus) this hardy to this level of root pruning for pot downsizing?
Dearest Sam. Love you so much, your dear wife , lovely Taya and the twice grieving grandparents. The last thing you’ll be doing is reading this, but I’m praying for you but also need to express my deepest condolences in this world too 🤷🏼♀️God bless you all, I have no answers, but one day God will heal all our wounds and sorrows in Jesus ‘ name and we will understand……🙏✝️
Hello Gaye. It seems that Sam has experienced a recent loss. I’m not sure what has happened but I will be keeping all in prayer in Jesus name. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.”
Amen 🙏✝️ Sam’s son n bonsai buddy died 4 months ago due to “unexpected health complications”What a devastating blow out of the blue?! I pray that the whole family are finding comfort, strength and peace in the Lord ❤️🩹
some of these heat stressed etc trees i have are making me a little bolder about defoliating trees.. and the deer chewing on some of my maples.. i didnt need a dog to chew my hose sprayer, its cheap construction was enough to get me using this old metal sprayer.. im learning a lot thru my misfortunes this summer.. i even started cuffing my pant legs thanks to these mis sized jeans and watching too much leave it to beaver.. now, if only someone would kick me in the teeth and smash my computer, id get some nice dentures and become a writer
Wew❗beautiful new pot👍💚❤
Man that pot is freaking perfect! Really looks great with that tree, beautiful job Sam!

Pressure washing of the roots helped make the job easier.

That’s awesome Sam
Sam I’ve got a bottle brush tree which the leaves have got burned with the frost would take them of or wait till the new cone up
I'd leave it to naturally bud up again.
Love the outfit!

Did you order and pick the size of the pot that was gifted to you from unknown fan?
I ordered and got a custom pot made for this tree but it was paid for by an Amazing viewer 🥰
