      100k. I'd say that as in only America, world wide you will be looking at millions.
      Same with Android development, g+ being killed of has killed the scene and XDA is a joke imo now a days, there was millions of us not just one or two select hundred people located in different countries. Theming was even more people. Look at Cyanogen mod, list of contributors are unreal....but you would think only a few hundred?

      I can half say that, got started as a game programmer back in 2015 on lego star wars tfa. Though I don't think I wrote anything just for the 360. I did at-least fix a few bugs that only reared their head on the 360 and would primarily use it to find and fix performance hitches.

    Im extremely thankfull for all your ports, specially mame 0.72 wich we still use for tournaments for UMK3. It does has better controller response even than retroarch OR EVEN BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL PORT (tested on my videos on my channel) and what I would only miss is the option for true screen stretch and to hide the options menu (and also more compatibility with games)
    Btw MvG, do you think that with optimization, old xbox could wun T ans W units from Midway at a perfect speed?
    Thanks again!!!

    Whenever I hear the title song from Cannon Fodder I am 14 again, staying up until 3am on my Amiga! That was a 3 disk release and the entire first disk was just the intro and I had to watch it all the way through every time I played the game. Such a well crafted use of samples and cycling it still gives me goosebumps to this day.

    You should probably release more of these unfinished things to the public, I can understand if you want to have another go yourself but like your OG Xbox Postal port sometimes it's better to move on instead.

    I grew up in the 80's 90's, I played these games for thousands of hours. I have a huge nostalgia for them, but that is all it is, Nostalgia. I am 38 and purchased a Switch, loaded Retro, and all of the games are just so Primitive. I deleted all old Emu and Roms. I just don't know how people my age can stay interested in them, unless they didn't grow up with the games.

    Very cool. I have just under 20 X360 XDKs and love collecting them. Got one in every color, all XNA variants except GB Ethernet, and some slim xdks including a couple fully boxed. Some of them have in development X360 games on them and a couple have unreleased apps and an unreleased game. I also got a few prototype consoles for both the fat and slim variants.

    • @ErroneousClique

      Stipo: I do not. I have had many chances to buy one but it has just never worked out. Almost bought one last month for $1500 with the faceplate and krypton controller. Seller backed out at the last second as they didnt really want to part with it I think...
      Last year I had a chance to buy another but it was missing the faceplate, the beta sticker on the side was peeled and partly ripped off, and the case was cracked. Oh yeah, and no controller and the seller still wanted $1200 for it. Had to pass on that one as it is nearly impossible to find XeDK faceplates or cases on their own.
      EDIT: BTW, if you are the same STiP0 as from the OG forums - that is awesome. I literally just used one of your recent posts to fix a bricked sidecar (before I fixed it, it wouldnt boot past Xbox logo with HDD installed and showed E68 error, but booted fine with the HDD/board removed or with the HDD installed but disabled). Your post allowed me to save a dead dark grey Jasper Dev unit I picked up for next to nothing - thank you for that! Wish I would have seen your post before I broke the warranty sticker and opened her up to check all the connections and headers...but oh well - I have all the proper tools so I didnt damage the back of the case, and it was dirt cheap. Very cool to see you in the comments though! :-D

    • @ErroneousClique
      @ErroneousClique 6 лет назад

      Eric: I thought about it but I am not really in to making vids and dont have a good cam...maybe some day. I do loan my consoles to other creators on occasion. The recent Hard4Games vid they did on the unreleased Cipher Complex X360 game was my unit I picked up not too long ago from someone else.
      As far as the prototypes go, they are nothing crazy. The 2 fat protos I got are just prototype Jasper units - they look the same on the outside and say "Prototype" on the back instead of "Xbox 360 Console" but one does have the stress wiring coming out the top and some yellow LEDs you can see turn on through the air holes in the top (other looks fairly normal). They have all their warranty seals and are Jaspers so I dont want to open them.
      The slim prototype is kind of neat but it does not boot unfortunately as all the eFuses in the CPU are blown. When you power it on it makes a weird noise and then the red dot flashes as if it were overheating. It still has the warranty sticker and all internal Microsoft stickers on the side, and has never been opened so I dont really want to break the seal as it is kind of a collectors item to me - so it would make for a rather boring vid as the differences in the case and power button are very subtle (this was one of the last slim protos created before they went into full production of the retail slim units I think). You dont see very many of them and the ones you do see usually dont run (blown eFuses) - but I have seen one run before which is why I was curious if MVG's slim prototype actually boots.
      I also got a couple 2005 green launch team X360 fat consoles. My favorite of the 2 says "Savage Xbox 360" on the silver/chrome HDD label on the top of the console which I thought was awesome...but its likely just someone on the dev team's last name. But I like to think it is just because it is the most savage X360 fat console around. :-P

    It is amazing about chip efficiency...here is the P3 Celeron at 733mhz that is professed as being only half as powerful as the Xbox 360s Xenon G5 with 3 cores and 6 threads. I think the cache is very small like 1mb for all 3 cores to use. Regarding emulators and such, super impressive work. The emulator community that is massive is thanks to people like you who spend the time making the impossible, capable. Thanks.

    • @halofreak1990
      @halofreak1990 5 лет назад

      Keep in mind that the figures mentioned are single thread performance, i.e. each of the 6 hardware threads of the 360 is only twice as powerful as the OG Xbox's single CPU. That still makes the 360 CPU (theoretically) 12x as powerful as the OG Xbox.

    Excellent work. You're a real inspiration for people like me who want to port to homebrew, right now that is Switch. I'm wondering, has Nintendo banned you? That's one concern of mine. I'm not planning on piracy, just homebrew

    Do you think porting PPSSPP on Xbox is possible?
    I have 0 knowledge on programming but damn I am tempted to learn to make Xbox apps and homebrews

      Doctor Claw I doubt that would work if you're talking about the original given the system only has 64 Megs of RAM

      A small part of the HDD can be used for swap/paging if I am not wrong

      With only 700 megahertz I just don't think it could work but who know

    Hello Modern Vintage Gamer, I was wondering if we could get a video talking about your educational background and how it is that you learned how to code these emulators and hacks. That way we too can try our hand. I have heard you talk about one program mainly in all you videos and that is C++.

    I wish the console could had a plugin for more controller options, a better mame (video doesnt properly stretch, nor fits proper 4:3, at this poiny shmupMAME could be godly if possible, who cares for MK2) and FBA without sound problems.
    Still, what is there, is good!
