The piriformis #4 stretch is also a common pose in yoga. VERY important when doing this stretch is to flex the foot of the side you are stretching; whether lying down or sitting. It activates the knee muscles and protects the joint from torquing and injury.
You guys are so in sync. No egos on display here. Admirable for such a long term partnership.
Your videos are so informative for all who watch.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Like "wow it would be nice to see alot of other men like these 2 in the world".
Awe man. I got a sciatica nerve pull recently and it’s been really hard. Saw one of your vids. Did the exercises and now the pain is in the hip area and now you guys upload a video about it. Thanks lol. It’s been helping
So glad I tuned in today. That is where i’ve been hurting I’m going to try your advice thanks again!
This video was an answer to my prayers! I overstretched 3 years ago and had a partial tear to the obturator internus muscle. I have been through physical therapy and still have trouble being able to walk and bike regularly without pain. If you have a excercise rehabilitation series on this, that would be awesome!
Me too
You guys are so funny!! I discovered you very recently as I was looking for Abs exercises that didn't pull on my back. Thank you also for this one - piriformis syndrome is so painful 😖
Thanks guys! Love the stretching! I will do them!
Great video! I have had this problem constantly for 4 years! I go to a massage therapist every 3 weeks for Relief!
Love this duo, very informative and wholesome videos with dad jokes :) keep em coming!
Well well well!! You guys are entertainers, doctors, actors and I don't know what. Not a second have I felt any sort of boredom. I like it. Keep it up and wish you best of luck!!
Once again you guys are giving me timely information to deal with a new issue that's causing me pain.
Alot ofchristain stretches and sermons fix me right up
Thank you guys for all that you do
Those chin tucks sure helped me
I even told my PT about u guys
So much help for so many
Problems thank you so much♥️♥️
I think you guys have identified my problem for me. I am so glad you do what you do!
@Steve Monteleone you have a problem for knees have a muscles decision nerves to the legs for pain for system it’s progress generally enforceable about clam shall you have to push up
Bob and Brad,
I love your show. Keep up the great work!
From a fan in California.
Thanks for the info on sciatica. You guys ARE #1 on the internet! 🤗😘🕊️🕊️🕊️
My problem is the ishialgluteal muscle(sitting muscle). Over a year now. Been in PT on and off the whole time. Love to hear your take.
Do you happen to sleep on that side chronically? I’m not a doctor but a massage therapist- that comes up a lot..try switching sides you sleep for a month first. also switch your wallet from that side to the other. Good luck
I love you two, the Laurel and Hardy of the physiotherapy community. Seriously I am finding your videos very helpful for coping with my sciatica, you are benefitting me immensely
I have been dealing with this pain for years (20 years) on my left side! FINALLY got rid of it I think!! By doing a treatment called Emsella, which is HIFEM (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) that was for my pelvis floor which reproduces Kegels! It fixed my bladder and my pain I couldn't believe it!
But wouldn't you know it moved to my right side of my body (i have never had pain on this side) and started with planter fasciitis in my foot and then into my hip and radiates to my knee on my hamstring and ITB. Starting all over again with foot splint at night, stretching, rolling, acupuncture, chiropractor, massage, ice, heat and some Advil when needed. I'm loosing my mind half the time because i have almost never lived without pain there! I'm physically active but this pain doesn't stop me i keep going!
I do so appreciate your suggestions and try so much to get this gone or under control. Is there maybe a muscle related problem i have in my system? My neurologist said my L5 and S5 are the cause, but i have no back pain! just this pain in my butt all the time.
This set of exercises and stretches that you did for piriformis and gluteal muscle Syndrome has been a godsend to me. I was having pain on the inner thigh going up and down steps because my lateral thigh muscles were so tight. I have had incredible relief but I have to do them Faithfully if I skip a day usually two days later it starts acting up again. I also bought one of your massage guns and when it's really bad I can spend 20 minutes doing that that I really wouldn't want anybody to see. it is so helpful!
We are so happy we could help, thank you for sharing!
Wow I’ve been suffering !! Thank you for this channel! Thank you thank you!!
Thanks guys! I have the white massager I see on the table there behind you. It’s great!
Thank you Bob and Brad
Love you guys. You are always helpful. Greetings from chile
Thanks again for your videos, the little massage gadget works, esp pain in the hips. Ty!
I went from lower back to piriform QLs all areas of back from compensation and now hamstrings and quads..it has finally gone from chronic to 75 percent gone...I have all sorts of future distresses but chronic pain is a thing of the passed
Will definitely try this. Question, can piriformis syndrome affect pudendal nerve?
....I’m facing this situation since 6 to 7 months now i’m so glad to see this video that i can fix this problem but can you guys please tell us that the causes behind this because it’s really problematic while i’m studying because i have to study and sit on a chair like 8 to 10 hours a day and may be because of this pain i got swelling on outer things
please please tell us the causes and do and don’t ....so that me and others too found this helpful
Love your work guys.
I was thinking about "they" a few days ago lol! I love u guys!
Yes, my husband always says, who are “they” anyway?!
I had to stop walking for a bit for healing there and ham strings. Getting old SUCKS.😑
The alternative sucks more.

@@brendaraines9088 true but this pain is debilitating - 16months, 2 injections in the SIJ, can't drive, can't sit can't walk far. Cancer is worse but severe pain is pretty tough and meds have some bad side effects. x
@@4wheeltundra I understand! I have SI issues too.
Hi guys I have the pain in left side lower back and leg, I am 65 years old, I went to the urologist and make me a biopsy, for my prostate, reason I mention, I read about and say is one of the symptoms, but I watch the program and I will do the exercises you guys say, hope it help me, thanks 🙏
Thank you so much 💓
I have found for my hip pain , finding the right chair to sit in will cure the hip pain. Sitting in those office chairs with hard seats will make it worse I was lucky and found a chair that worked, with some exercised, really helped a lot.
What kind of a chair ? I have been battling hip and back pain since 2008 and can't find any chair to help me
@@Jstarry48 a soft chair made with cloth and sinks down and able to lean back, when I sat in the chair it felt like it was soothing my bunds. I have to find another one. working on it. It was an office chair. I haven't tried out the big chairs that prop up your feet up. Wish you luck, you might have your doctor recommend a chair.
gr8 video guys!!! could you do one on this area of the body with the nerve diagram that was in the short yesterday? where he showed the hand and what nerves impacted what fingers? is there a similar expression for the legs/feet?
I always wonder that thank you 😊 🙏
I'm doing pt right now for that same pain in my butt. I cant walk very far and hoping this will help
about 4 years ago I suffered from a horrible incident. One night I woke up from sleeping on my left hip all night. I didn't move the whole night. Well my left leg was completely numb. After a few hours some of the feeling returned but I had horrible foot drop. There was some numbness in the right foot, but the left leg and foot were severely effected. I saw neurologist and back surgeons. No one gave me an answer that I thought was credible. But I think this is it. Deep bruise of the muscle.
I’m a city bus operator. Recently I’ve been having this issue. I hope these stretches help.
Thank You you two
Lower back, sciatica, hip knee and all that was mentioned today 🥴😖 have been making me miserable for way too long.
Thanks for your video/s... really encourages me to use my gun more frequently and have to remember to be more consistent of using it as it is in my case only a temporary fix when I don't.
P.s. the love gun comment 😂🤣
Thank you for this video.
These stretches feel so good
It is a pleasure to watch your video with the good informations about health.,God bless you nice gentlemen. ❤❤👍
I am so done with this pain! Getting an ablation after two trigger point injections.
Hi there, Bob and Brad 👋🏼😃🥰! Greetings and All The Best to you...from Bombay, India 🇮🇳🙏🏼💕
What do you think of yes indeed back stretcher pillow? Is it useful or not?
Hi guys, do you have a video on high tone pelvic floor disfunction? My daughter is in a knot. 🤭 you offer sage advice i thought of you guys first to ask edited for spelling
You guys are super! And I just got on your website, and entered the contest for today, with the bed with all the many pieces! And then I just watched this video, which was so fun! You’re going to get me to watch more of you now!
I think I saw a Bob & Brad billboard on the 5 freeway by Artesia blvd 🥴 in LA county. I must be seeing things
Hi Bob & Brad
I got a accident in which socket of right hip was broken and I also got foot drop. Surgery was performed for socket but I hv a lot pain and I am not able to walk properly. Disbalance is there in walking though I m using a stick. Plz help me for getting balance in my walk and if I can walk without stick?
Again - I got that left sided pain after spending a week wearing flip flops. Thank you for shedding light into my various issues.
I'm dealing with this now. All the glute work and clamshells in PT (for low back pain), flared trigger points in the piriformis. Caused the false sciatica and pain in sitting. Trigger point release I performed really helped get it under control but i will see chiro this week for the deep TP's I cannot reach.
What is TP's
@@Jstarry48 trigger points
Can we buy the mini massager straight from your website?
I would like to know what brand is the massage/PT table?
My favorite two guys! One question I have for you guys..,I sit at my desk too much. I've been trying to undo years of bad posture. Lately my biggest foe has been a tight psoas that refers around to the front. (Getting old is grand, but it beats the alternative!) My hip adductors seemed to hear I was working on my psoas and said "Hold my beer, I can get his attention!" and yeowza, that's hurting too. I'll wrap this up into a question... what round of stretches do you suggest us folks stuck in meetings and desks do to solve that core area? (I have a stand up desk..but just catch myself leaning against the wall!) Stay healthy, look forward to your advice
Trapezius, glutes, hamstring, calf stretching.
Back extension on foam roller.

Just found your pod cast. Thank you.
I’m new to you both I had pain in my back I try everything nothing work but guess what did work radox
My left hip and inside groin has been hurting really bad since I pulled out my back 5 months ago now, while camping. For several months I could barely even make it to my restroom down the hallway. I have to take Goody or BC powders every day, and it just eases the pain enough for me to walk around. I've tried all those exercises but the pain is still there. Additionally, because I haven't been able to walk around without the use of a walking stick/cane, I've now developed edema in both feet and legs. Recently I thought of purchasing a massager and figured I should begin massaging my entire body every day. What sort of method should I follow do you think? Also, do you think that the muscle or hip problem would eventually go away with methodical daily massage? Thanks.
Please get your glucose levels checked and blood pressure.
Start Lying down on the bed with 2-3 pillows under the leg that will relieve your edema slowly.
You can also dip your feet in the hot water for 20 minutes and do ankle foot pumps EXERCISES
Your description here is about shoulder impingement......just thought I'd mention it 😉
I love your vedios.ladt ten dsys i got lowback sain when i bent to take something. Now whe i sd leep onthe bed icsnnot get up ain is severe. I tried several methods no use life is miserable. I struggle everyday with painn to with a shout.
Pleaee help iam helpless. I went to rwo foctors pills did nog work. Iam scared to see the bed. How can I rest after a hsrd work all day? Plrser help.
Which small massage gun do you recommend
I can’t drive because of what you are talking about. Would you look into what to do with loose ribs on your back. I have three on one side and one on the other. I sometimes find breathing difficult if I lie the incorrect way. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.
Posture plays an important role in breathing.
On my channel I posted very simple spinal mobility EXERCISES for improving breathing : post covid recovery EXERCISES part 1
Take care 🙏
Bad knees can’t get on the floor where can you get a table like your using?
What if you're a very flexible person and none of these stretches really stretch you much? I do yoga and Athletics and I'm having a hard time getting good stretches on some of this
Frank and Furter, the two most important, parts of the name of the guy from Rocky Horror!
What’s your guys honest opinion on those lumbar spine decompressers/stretchers? Was thinking of buying one?
Some guys it helps, some it doesnt, always worth a try imo :)
@@requiem-ph5xx Yeah. I did some more research and I think I might have to try it out. If I don’t like it I could always sell it or get a refund. Thx
Does the pain get worst as you stretch? And then go away? It seems to be more tender since starting to stretch.
Please add foam rolling of hip muscles to your EXERCISES, it will be helpful

I have these symptoms on both sides.

Can I give heat fomentation
if someone has bowed legs, are they bound to have this become a chronic pain for life? i do these workouts and have been at it for 2-3 years, but the pain never goes away..
Hi Bob and Brad, the massager you have your name on stopped working. I bought on Jan 23 and Amazon won't take it back. Can you offer me a solution?
I have this problem since my hip was revised all your stretches will cause my hip to dislocate. I got the massage gun and also apply steady pressure on the hot spots with a theracane. Do oyu have any other way to stretch that muscle? Also what do you think of getting a steroid shot to calm it down?
I just had 2 steroid injections, first an ultrasound one ( did nothing) then a Cat scan one where they spend 45mins just lining you up. for a week I thought might be better. However the injection can be a miracle for a few months or so I'm told. Worked in my shoulder years ago. Gets you off meds for a while if it works
I like to "hit that" SI Joint too Brad! 😂 Seriously though, it's amazing how many people suffer from PS. Question Bob: if it is a tear, do you still recommend massage and stretching?
I would like to know the same!
I also want to know because I did have a tear.

Question for you guys can I use a tennis ball to massage the area if I don't have a massager?
Rolling on a tennis ball fixes it for me.
Good choice
yes it can give temporary help I found. Can put on the wall and roll on it - but as you go along in a straight line, then lower etc
So funny😀 this piriformis problem hit me yesterday after my leg and but work out at the gym😳 It usually do but not this hard😖
And What was the fiirst I saw on my YT?

I got this, it’s good to learn so you know it’s not the lower back. Massage and stretching works.I think mine accrued because the imbalance of all the muscles in the buttocks and the Piriformis was over worked or got to strong because the other muscles were weaker. Anyway it’s gone and working on having to balance all muscles of the buttocks .
That's where I've been hurting throug 3 failed back surgeries. Lower back? Is that what that is there? Yes all across back and the buttocks I sure could use that mattress!
Try one leg glute bridges with hip flexion. Look it up on google and try it. I had low back problems for years this solved all my problems. I did one set of 5 to 10 each every night before bed that’s it.
Yo that thumbnail 👌😳
Sounds like what I had. Doctors and PTs all insisted it was pain caused by narrowing in my spine. I kept insisting it was a pain in my butt. After months of PT only making it worse, a physiatrist gave me a cortisone shot in my butt. it started feeling better almost immediately. 2 additional shots and I was back to normal. A year later I'm still fine with no additional treatment. PT can't solve everything.
Can you please tell me what is a physiatrist and did those shots hurt much? I think I need to get a shot in my butt to feel better. Thankyou in advance
I’ve never had PT help with anything. I’ve been doing it for over a month this time and it doesn’t seem to do anything. I try it every time but never have any luck I guess.
so can you have both si joint and pfm at the same time because ive been having this issue for 6 years now and even my chiro can't seem to make it better , it happened when i was tieing my shoe but then when i came back up i felt a pain in on the right si joint area but i also used a tennis ball in the figure 4 position and it helped alot but it never went complety away
I am suffering for 19years and I am willing to pay a handsome sum of money to anyone who can cure my butt pain. I cry every night.
@@georgewilliams258 me too, George. Me too.
I guess we have the same issue. I use the ball a lot as a comforter and you are right. ..... it only provides a temporary relief. I cannot drive without the ball or I cannot do any form of sitting without the ball. Might sounds ridiculous but sometimes I feel like taking a sharp knife and cut out that butt area that is hurting me so badly. Just cut it out and throw it away. I am crying as I type. It's a shame to tell the huge cost I have already spent on this painful but but still no cure.
Chiropractors are not as efficient as physiotherapists. Some don't prescribe exercises - which really are crucial. I have wasted a lot of money on chiro with this and a physio relieved it in one session - and the prescribed exercises fixed it.
@@georgewilliams258 you can fix it yourself with a bit of physiotherapy research videos on "piriformis". You may need to do strengthening exercises as well (not only stretches) - which other videos offer.
What is the name of that pillow for people in wheel chair? I have a bony butt and it feels like I'm setting on marbles. Have not been able to find a pillow that helps.

That's weird because thats the area thats bothering me this morning. I'm stretching it now.
I don't have that kind of pain. I clicked this because I thought it's about butt pain from sitting too much and too long (my work). How do I 'fluff' my tail up again? (Can't go to massage therapist to have my butt massaged..., can I?)
Of course you can. I have a remedial massage once a week focusing on lower back and glutes.
