    that piriformis hurts like a beast but those simple moves of yours really offer quick relief. This is natures way of telling me I need to pay attention to these stretches forever. I used to do all kinds of stretching yoga tai chi etc but now that I'm old, and I need to stretch I stopped doing it! Wake up Call!!

    I gave myself Chronic Piraformis syndrome and Gluteus amnesia through a repetitive stress injury it was so bad I could not walk without severe pain on standing or walking .Could not step up a kerbstone or climb stairs yet if I could get to the car I could sit and have no pain and my legs worked fine .When on the floor my legs would not obey commands from my brain to move would have to move them physically and haul myself up by my arms . That was early 2020 and spent 6/7 months in a chair one thing that did help I got a Zimmer frame so I could support my weight on my arms and walk .has taken since then to walk again but still have difficulty climbing stairs .What was difficult was retraining my brain to immediately compensate for any imbalance when standing .

    The information here is priceless. Figure 4 stretches have 1000% cured my piriformis syndrome butt pains. I get it from poor sitting posture ergonomics, and insufficient lumbar support. To a much lesser degree poor sleeping ergonomics can make it worse. Either inflames my piriformis and it constricts down onto the nerve causing butt pain. Stretching the muscle 2x a day (morning and evening) alleviates the inflamation and constriction every time. I also take advil when the pain is really bad. Thanks a million B & B!!!

I tried your diagnostics and will keep up with the exercises, much better than wrecking my liver with acetaminophen every day. Much respect for physiotherapists, they have helped me before I found you fellows, what the doctor thought was a collapsed disk turned out to be a torn groin tendon. Again, many thanks!

      Can you afford to go to a chiropractor to be checked. I could not do the figure 4 while standing. So, I'm standing in the shower trying to lift my left foot up into my right knee so I can wash my foot. Could not lift it even halfway. I have piriformes problem in the left hip. Physical therapy didn't help. Chiropractor pushed down on the left pubic bone (the pubic bone is not connected in the front) to move it back into alignment. She said it was a fairly common problem. I can now lift my leg onto my knee when sitting or lying down. A weak piriformes in that leg keeps me from lifting my leg all the way when standing but I can almost do it..

The extensions in the beginning are what I do when my back goes out. I am not suppose to do it for my herniated disc. I will be watching more of your videos. Those muscles tighten up only when I walk or stand for any length of time.

    Could you talk about arm pain. While repairing a hole on my ceiling months ago, I hurt what seems like is my elbow or around it. I could not let my arm hung normally for some weeks. When I walk if I let my arm hung, it really feels painful, so I have to put my arm inside a pocket while walking. Could you please explain what could be the reason? Thanks for explaining about the Piriformis, how often and how many times, should I do the exercise? Thanks.

    Here's question for anyone some experience. What do you do if you have had hip surgery on the side that you have the pain? You are not supposed to move that hip joint past 90 degrees I thought. I can't get anywhere near that but have either sciatica or piriformis problem or maybe SI joint issue and have had it for years. Very tight hip and hamstrings for years. Also I believe all the muscles in that leg are not as strong as my other leg due to years of favoring it. Thanks. Best of luck to all

  • @vinlago
    @vinlago 2 года назад +1

    Different neurosurgeons all tell me something different. Some say my herniated thoracic discs are the culprit. Another thinks it is from the lumbar disc bulge at L5/S1. One suggested none of the disc herniations or bulges are an issue and that it's likely piriformis syndrome but directed me to youtube to look for videos on it.
    One was brutally honest and said no one will help me because I'm uninsured. He thinks it is the thoracic herniations but he doesn't do that kind of operation.
    I've been in pain for over a decade. It's getting worse. I've already lost everything including my home, chasing relief or dare I hope a cure. I had an SI fusion back when I was insured and it only made the sciatic pain worse. It's a shame it's so hard to find an honest medical opinion and once one is driven to poverty by their health, they are tossed out with tue trash.

    Bob and Brad, I have suffered with piriformis syndrome since a fall I had when I was in high school. Most of my life, it wasn't diagnosed properly by the health profession; some even suggested that it "was in my head." A physical therapist actually diagnosed it. Anyway, I have a few questions/comments concerning your discussion over whether the pain is caused by low-back or by the piriformis itself. I know it is my piriformis because when you press on that spot on my butt, I see stars! I've been doing stretching exercises for a number of years, but the relief is only temporary. I cannot sit in a car for longer than about 20 minutes, especially if I am driving and unable to switch sitting positions. My greatest relief comes from walking. I'm at the point where I am very depressed because I feel that I will never be without pain. Any suggestions? Or words of encouragement? Thank you.

    Question. I have pain in my right gluts. Then pain in the RIGHT THIGH ONLY when I raise it onto a chair/stool or try to put my shoe on my right foot. saw a video where it was said if the pain in the thigh is in FRONT THIGH and not in the back thigh, it’s not sciatica. What’s your take?
