A few years ago, I was a month away from fusion surgery on my L5-S1, completely disabled, and found a Bob and Brad video talking about the tennis ball to work the piriformis. It gave immediate relief and now I'm working, golfing, and enjoying life. Thank you Bob and Brad!

I use the small ball by simply standing against the wall and positioning the ball in the sore spot directly while moving my body around the tight spots. They are easy to feel because they are hard knots. It may take a few days to loosen completely. Per my therapist I use a firm ball.

@@jeremiahshine That is very relevant in my situation. I was in horrifyingly bad sciatic pain for a year, they didn't address any of the muscular issues, but instead put me on a manual traction machine which only made it worse. I don't think it's the Dr.'s, it's the industry and schools. Big Pharma owns all the medical schools and designs the training. They don't train them to cure anything anymore, just treat.

People can't seem to grasp that funny business and morality issues develop when the same people own the MSM, news networks, Insurance Companies, the Pharma industry, bullet factories, solar panel manufacturing, and oil companies.

I'm going through this right now for the last year. Never been so frustrated in my entire life trying to get rid of this piriformis syndrome. Finally found what helps me the most. Rolling on the tennis ball like your guys showed, and also crossing my one leg over the other while rolling. When you find the right spot, stay on it for 15 seconds, 3 times a day. Finally it's starting to go away! Thanks guys for all of your helpful videos!

For about 5 years I had what was diagnosed as sciatica. It was awful, and changed my life significantly. But then a physical therapist, on a hunch, suggested that I do the first stretch in the video. The pain went away immediately, and I've never had a problem since. I do the stretch every day to make sure the pain doesn't come back.

I’m in love with you guys! I had a bad bout of sciatica a few years ago. It was horrible, I thought it was the end of living an active life. After it showed on an MRI and I was told to seek pain management (injections) by a specialist some distance away, I opted for the P/T option. However, I watched one of your many related videos and saw YOUR massage gun, ordered it and in less than 2 days of use a few times a day, my sciatica went away! It was miraculous after having suffered with it for some time before this, the excruciating pain traveled down through my leg, worsened my knee pain and went down into my foot and toes resulting in “floppy foot” and shortening that leg, throwing off my hip, my balance and gait. I could not walk, stand or sit for long. I tell my friends about your practice and informative videos then and now that saved my active life. I now practice your exercises even before getting out of bed daily, among other exercises like swimming and yoga. Thank you for all you guys do and Bob, keep at your healing and here’s some extra love for you!

I am experiencing severe sicatica pain as well after having a baby. My baby is 8 mnth old and I started having this issue since he was 6 mnth old, so almost two months now I have difficulty sitting, and have shooting pain when I wake up and during the day. Painkillers don't work at all and its so hard with an active baby. Doctor wants me to go to Physical Therapy if the painkillers don't work. But I have been watching all these videos trying to make sure I have piriformis and not herniated disk. My pain starts just above the tail bone slightly to the left radiating down to my ankle. This is the worst pain and one of the hardest phase of my life.

They recommended PT, but that took 5 wks just to get in. I did your exercises & by the time I was able to go to PT, I canceled it. But I had this about 9 weeks, before it finally eased it. It started on the left side, and then moved to the right side. It was awful!! Thank you so much for these videos! 🙏

Pain mostly on my right butt..it feels deep.. like a tight musle ... but sometimes I feel on both sides ( left and right butt) the achiness feels like it radiates down my butt. It gets worse with cold and stress . I notice if i get super worried it amplifies the pain. Clearly something ain't right. I also had pain on my inner thiegh for 2 days but now it's going away.... I still have pain in the butt.

Now I need to keep it flexible so thanks for these options. I also learned I am tightening it up by trying to do lotus pose without supporting my knees and sitting in figure four on the couch! I had a terribly painful period earlier this year with right hip arthritis pain flare ups and pain in my glute muscles that kept me from sleeping well. Just walking was painful. I am still not sure if it was piriformis syndrome or true sciatica or a little of both. Your advice and information was so helpful. I am 100% recovered after 6 months of regular weight bearing exercises for the body including lots of core strengthening (squats and lunges), and also from yoga and spin cycle classes. I feel strong, flexible, have good balance and best of all, I am finally pain free again. Thank you so much for all you do!!

i had thought i had reoccurring sciatica issues until i saw this video! i rarely have lower back pain unless i am putting a lot of physical stress on my body. at night when i am trying to sleep, my outer right buttock and upper thigh hurt a LOT so i attempt to lift the leg to sleep. i feel it in the morning and while walking, periodically throughout the day. i am a person who loves to sit cross legged ALWAYS- but for the past 3 months that has been far more difficult. im 40 and fairly active. i tried your pigeon pose stretch and it hurt like a bitch! but i held it and even leaned into it toward the side for about 30 seconds. i was sceptical until i stood up and the pain vanished entirely. i am so poor and your videos always save me. unbelievable. thank you for sharing your knowledge with us from the bottom of my heart.

There’s a very good chance that your hip or your femur head is out or your sacrum. You need to see a chiropractor. That’s my problem and the only way to stop it from spasming is to have my sacrum put back in place and sometimes my femur head. The stretches don’t work for me, they never have. I’ve had this problem for over 50 years. When you look for a chiropractor find one that you trust, one who is recommended to you by someone who is not only seeing one but is having a good experience with them. If you have any Hypermobility diseases like Ehlers-Danlos or hyper mobile joint disease, some of the stretches shown in this video would actually make your condition worse. So do be careful.

This is great! I started running several years ago, clocking upwards of 20 miles per week. My biggest fear was knee pain. To my surprise, I have absolutely no knee pain, but I developed pain in my right glute (to name one of many aches and pains). I figured out the first stretch on my own, and it really fires my glute which I now know is piriformis pain, thanks to your video. However, I will add the deep tissue work to my stretch routine because the first stretch, while good, doesn't get rid of the tightness entirely. I had to take a long break from running because of injury. Running quickly reveals any and all pathologies, and I know that piriformis tightness is due to issues with my running form. I also have tightness in my right hip flexor which I am sure is related to tightness in my right piriformis, but I am happy to say I have been back to running for nearly two months and feeling really great!

Oh yes, my physio told me this was from doing cycling and kicking, he said it gives the muscle a tendency to knot up, so it's important to stretch even more if you're doing sports that have this kind of movement.

Ah, it’s so nice to see Bob again! I’m so glad ❤️ seems like his ataxia isn’t as bad as it was-kudos!
I have a question: I don’t think it’s my piriformis-what else could it be? It hurts when I’m climbing the stairs, or when I cross my legs like the number 4, laying supine, doesn’t hurt when pulling towards my chest but pushing the knee down. I’m not finding what’s causing that-help?

I have a hip replacement. My orthopedist told me NOT to do pigeon pose. It would be a great service to your followers if you would include contraindications for replaced joints on pertinent exercises. Thanks much for all your great tips and exercises.

Thanks for the demonstration into pigeon pose that isn't from someone who is already bendy. I've never seen it done quite like that and it's exactly what I needed to see. I might be able to get some sleep now having stretched it a bit. I was starting to worry that maybe I have a labral tear, but getting the piriformis moving has helped relieve some pain.

I have this pain often but a few years ago it was very severe and thought it was an ovarian cyst.
After many tests that didn't show anything, I went to the chiropractor where he took the pain away and I found it it was my piriformis.
