Omg... I'm in my 30's and my hips, mostly the right one, have been killing me for the last couple of years. It radiates down my legs into my feet. I just did this stretch on both sides, twice. I got up and it didn't hurt at all. I haven't been able to go from sitting to standing in almost 3 years without my hips and legs hurting. This is incredible!!! Thank you!!!!

I had a coworker tell me I was limping and that I needed more comfortable shoes. I wear vans for the nom slip grip with insoles and loosen the laces for my arches, so vans don't really bother me. BUT, two days before we had inventory night and I was crouching and twisting during scanning products a lot. I realized it wasn't my feet that was making me limp but inner thigh pain from the other day, maybe pulling a muscle that made my gait wonky. So this exercise I hope helps a lot relieve tightness because I bet my quads were working hard during the crouching, but weak inner thighs got really tight.

Shortening the muscle, holding then slowly releasing is pandiculation. It's the opposite of stretching. It also resets the brain to remember the normal state of the hip flexor, or any muscle you want to target. It really works.

    • @PsychoGemini
      @PsychoGemini 2 года назад +14

It absolutely does. This is why I practice Hanna Somatics which uses pandiculations. Bob and Brad really need to look into it.

Well…let me just say, this has changed my life! Each and every morning, as soon as I wake up, I do this with each leg, then I do your recommended ankle on the opposite knee stretching, and let me tell you…this ABSOLUTELY has given me 95% relief of my hip issues! Thank you guys, from my heart ❤️

5 years ago I broke the transverse processors on L2 - L4 on the LEFT side only. While I did not need surgery, the muscle issues it has caused in my entire body have been unimaginable.
It compensated exactly the way our bodies are designed to do. I look normal but I’m weak and in pain. Though I “look” normal, my body could no longer function the way it was.
I needed professional help and was ready for it. (Huge difference!)
3 months ago I started 2x/wk with a new PT. Lots of dry needling and re-educating just about every single muscle in my body. It has absolutely changed my life!
If you are in pain, never ever give up on looking for and finding relief!!!

A million thank yous! I'm an active 60+ woman, playing tennis 3-5x/week. I try to pay a little more attention to stretching my hip flexors before playing but maybe not attention after playing, and then going right into the office and sitting for too long. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of the hip area (side & front) pain for 6+ weeks and decided to stop all activity for 2 weeks to give it some rest. The pain didn't bother me while I was on court, though. It was everything else I did--sitting, walking, sleeping. Did this move last night and it immediately relaxed and felt like blood was getting into the area again. Woke up this morning and most of the pain was gone! And, your comment that stretching might be irritating the muscle and making it worse? Yep. I would agree--for me, anyway. Especially on the outside of the hip. This morning, almost pain-free! Thanks for sharing, guys! Relief!

I remember when I was a teenager having really sore hip flexors from hockey. My shower had a tub and I remember having to physically pick up my leg to get it over the tub… I’m in my 20s now and started playing hockey again. My hip flexor stiffness started to come back and it would flare up when I work out abs at the gym. This stretch feels like I just reset my hip flexors! Thank you!

you seem to have mistunderstood. this is not a stretch, on the contrary it's compressing/ shortening the muscle and thus relieves tension.
during a stretch the muscle is lenthened and under tension.

Love the exercise....but I LOVE the fact that Bob corrected Brad's use of the word "lay" (down)
Bob is correct, the word is "lie" down!!!
Yea!!!.....almost everyone uses the incorrect word

Americans make this mistake but much less so with the Brits and other English speakers. Actually, even non-English speakers use it correctly because they actually study grammar. Americans also don’t use past perfect tenses like have swum and have drunk. I notice that Americans are triggered to anger when their English is being corrected. It’s like they do not want to improve and prefer to be mediocre and sloppy. I speak multiple languages and it’s not the case for people speaking in other languages, where they appreciate being corrected and want to strive for excellence.

For the past week my right hip flexor has been annoying me with this nagging soreness. It's something that has bothered me on and off (thank God mostly off) for a while now. I Just did this, and I absolutely mind blown at the fact that it really worked!!! Like immediately 😲. I swear this will be my go to move from now on for the rest Of my life anytime I feel that pain in my hip. I did have to rotate my heal in towards my knee to find my most comfortable position, but true to the video 90 seconds later I felt absolutely no pain! Amazing!!
