This is Part two of my interview with Lulu. Her story is a fascinating one about how a 55 year old woman decided she wanted more out of life and did something about it becoming a part time nomad living van life on the road in a DIV Dodge Caravan minivan conversion. What a story it is. If you missed Part 1 make sure to go back and hear Lulu's story in her own words. I know you will be just as impressed during this van tour as I was at not only Lulu's story but also the creative ideas she implemented in her van build. She literally makes amazing things out of just scraps and just about nothing. Her system for.keeping her food chilled is nothing short of brilliant. From her "cardboard toilet seat" to her shoe rack made from scraps you will be taking notes to copy these budget friendly ideas if you are like me. What size refrigerator/freezer is it!
Wow! I've seen so many van setups and this was the first one I've seen where she uses a fridge to make her ice packs to keep her food cold. Very smart! The reason I got rid of my cooler was because it was such a hassle to always buy bags of ice. This is much better. She doesn't have to buy bags of ice and worry about dumping out the water from them all the time. And that cooler! Very nice! Great setup.

She actually used to use a traditional cooler (instead of the insulated box) lying on its long side with the lid being opened from top to bottom. It was raosed anout 4” by 2 by 4 on each end and she had drawers that slid in that space as well as a few inches of space above the cooler. I would like that better as food did not get so stacked on top of each other. That is what I am going to use since I don't have the under floor storage area.

I love that she is reusing the plastic zipper container for her cleaning supplies that was once a sheet or pillow case type bag. Those bags are so useful! Too many people throw them away.

Love the freezer and ice packs

I was just thinking the same thing. Like to know her diet. I guess just all fresh, no processed.

Turning 62 on Halloween and just put the insulation and pine floors in my Nissan NV 2500 high roof and did it all by myself 😁😁😁😁I’m so excited to get out there and play in the woods lol
She has the most ingenious setup of the hundreds that I have seen! I would have liked to know how she did her white storage! Great interview and such a wonderful woman! 💜

If you are talking about the side cabinet, Lulu and one offer neigh or built that out. Lucky lady to have such a talented .and helpful neighbors!
Lulu is such a wonderful inspiration .It is refreshing to see a lady in her 60's excited about life and adventure. I hear her about preping her own food and eating differently than other people .Too many people just want to take pills or shots ,relying on doctors, instead of taking respinsibility for changing their lifestyles and eating habits!

Blown away!!! Lulu is an incredible human. I’m overwhelmed by her story. Both videos are insightful and inspiring. Fabulous van build. Think she can start a business with doing this for other folks. Curious what her costs were for the build. She seems to have a skill in frugality which is equally impressive.

Some reasonable concern is not a had thing.at all. I think perhaps the way to address some of your fears and concerns wohld be to start out small, maybe venturing out on weekend trial trips. Also traveling with a women's caravan as you get used to things. Home On Wheels Alliance has one. H.O.W.A. Good luck

I love the food storage system!. It's brilliant. Takes up no space and holds more food than a mini fridge! The bed, the storage everything is so simple and functional. What a design!

The DIY cooler is AWESOME! Such a good way to make use of the space! To say it's ingenious is an understatement. The sliding doors on the cabinetry is also a very good idea you don't often see in van builds. Lulu has managed to put together a nice setup. I noticed that no mention was made of how she plans to heat the inside during colder months. Has she crossed that bridge yet?

You are right James. We didn't address that. Guess I'll have to do another tour during the winter🤣 Actually I have asked Lulu when she has time to come on one of my Saturday Glow Lives and we can ask her then.

She travels for warmth during the winter months. If the weather changes on the travels she bundles up with blankets and clothing. She has her sticks n'bricks in Boston. As of this viewing (1 yr later) she had to get another vehicle which is even cuter. I'm sure you've probably seen her channel but if not Lulu's Way.

Wow! This woman's idea to keep food cold is ingenious. Great idea to save on power by only charging the smallest freezer possible to keep ice packs frozen in to then use in her "ice box" that only needs frozen ice packs to keep cold. Love it! Others with THOWs that need to conserve on power should consider following this model.

I love this layout. I think selling your floor plan with blue prints, would be of interest to folks. I would def buy. I love the colors, the storage, the layout. The ingenious floor cooler is awesome.

Lulu really did come up with some brilliant 💡 ideas.
The fridge setup is genius. So are the floors.
Wow. I had the same idea, of getting a small freezer. But I was thinking of making ice. Or of freezing bottles of water.
Her version is even better. Those ice packs (some of them at least) stay cold longer than plain ice. The liquid inside isn't just water, it's better than water at staying cold.
And her ice chest idea is great too. Great idea and execution.

I'm LuLu, too! 72 in Illinois. Hubby and I are on our 3rd minivan (2 Caravans and now a Town & Country. Love it - it's like a rolling iPod we have loaded so many CDs into it. That 1st Caravan was horrible to remove the bench seat' 😞). I really want us to do 'vanlife', because we like road trips and I've never camped in my life. Hubby says I'd probably like 'glamping'. My question is: 'what do you do with the 'StowNGo' seats after they've been removed? No one has ever talked about how to dispose of the removed seats in any videos I've seen. I love how Lulu configured her bed platform/table in so many ways! TFS

One of the smartest and most health inspired builds I have ever seen. I really love her freeze and cool system and her water system and how low maintenance it all is, not to mention cost effective. A brilliant lady!!!

Lulu has one of the most beautiful smiles....what a woman. I could not do this without a real toilet...My daily pooptime is 10 minutes or less after I rise in the early morning....no such thing as an emergency....more like a morn-gency.

Great ideas. Those blue ice fridge packs are always more than convenient and your ingenuity making a homemade fridge box was quite creative.

Possibly one of the neatest, functional, well designed minivans I've seen. Only 2nd toilet/bucket with a seat, and padded! Good to mention the "peewee". Lol...very smart substitute non-electric fridge that doesn't use messy melting ice. Very clever. Plenty of storage. Ventilation under mattress which most don't know about or mention. Adding just a few other ideas from You Tube and I'd be set to go. If I didn't have two young cats I would love to join the older, solo female nomads. Good luck, enjoy, and safe travels.

This is a fun van! Lulu you are pretty cool! For the toilet (love that she says she doesn't need a 5-gallon bucket 😏) she mentions kitty litter. I am wondering if anyone uses the crystal litter? Walmart has a brand that is very affordable. It dries super well in a cat box, so I'm thinking that would work. It also zips closed, and you can get a small bag. I bought a pet food container with that kind of lid as well. So much better than just a plastic bin, for the pet food I mean.
I love the bed. I don't move much when I sleep, so that looks like a good width. The white storage is pretty amazing with the sliding doors. The floor storage is genius! The ceiling is very pretty! I would not have thought of fabric spray adhesive. But sewists know it works!
This is a really great van life video!
Here's another approach to emergency #2: just put about four or five sheets of newspaper down. When finished, just roll it up like a burrito - start at one end, roll maybe three times, then fold each of the sides over the middle. Then keep rolling to the end. The resultant many layers of newspaper are astonishingly good at killing odors.
Interesting. Learn something new everyday.

This is kind of my contingency plan for emergency van potty, except instead of newspaper, I'll be using large disposable "puppy pads", which can also assist as toilet paper in a pinch!

I never knew Lulu’s beginning. Awesome. In 2023 I currently watch HER CHANNEL. She has remodeled her van and it is amazing.

I have a Town and country that I have just began the conversion process on. So far I have removed the third row seats and flipped the passenger seat which was easy to do. I have watched hundreds of conversion videos. really good ideas are hard to come by. The basement cooler is one of the best ideas that I have seen yet. Like how she did the floor to. Pretty nice
