My step son moved out and in with his girlfriend when she got pregnant. Then several years later he ended up in rehab for alcoholism. And nobody would take him when he got out. So reluctantly we took him in. It’s been 4 yrs now and he sits in his room playing video games. It doesn’t matter how many times we tell him to either apply for disability or get an online job. His mother who dropped him off to us then literally left the state and moved to Alaska within weeks of dropping him off sends him money. He’s still drinking ( was told not in our house)and is stressing my husband (severe heath issues) out so much. We are both on SSI so having his extra expenses are a lot on us. We have no idea how to get him out of here because we can’t kick him out by law. And he has no place else to go. He would literally be on the streets. He knows that everything he does wrong will be met with shouting and lecturing from his father but it goes in one ear and out the other. And thats the extent of it. He’s got it made here free room and board, food some yelling from his father every now and then and it will blow over. 😩

Most of congress are wealthy. Two weeks without pay will not affect them.

I agree with you totally!!! If they don’t do their jobs, then, they shouldn’t punish us. They should punish themselves.

My parents and I lived together and I put my salary toward the household expenses. I took care of both my parents till they both passed away. If you move in with your parents you have the responsibility to contribute to the household. To live off your parents is immature and lazy.

4 YEARS! This will be our NORMS for the next 4 years Democrat/ Republican ELITE vs NON elite. Democrats/ Republicans ELITE cutting and or eliminating programs. If you want this to change, ALL US citizens need to vote , Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z need to run for local , statewide and federal office 2026 & 2028, don’t vote for incumbents Republicans or Democrats candidates only new candidates, invest in 3rd parties at lower level AND president .

Australia the same we have over 300 thousand senior women in cars , couch surfing, on street, tent. We have families in tents some with babies toddlers. Severe shortage of social housing, private rents a ridiculously high.

Hi Lindy, Im Linda, 75 y o,living in New Zealand. Rents are astronomical here too. I was living in an old, rotted farmhouse in a paddock, rats and mice, holes in the walls etc. for 9 & half years, i had an accident in a paddock and broke some bones. I used to work there voluntarily, when needed, but still had to pay high rent. Whilst in hospital a social worker visited me. She was shocked that I lived there alone, after 2 big falls. She rang the council to locate me housing. Ive been in a bedsitter in a town 4 months now. Ive got a 2002 Toyota. Your van is very modern. I admire you for what you've done with it. May the Lord Jesus help you, and all of us. xo

Not happy with them trying to put through a 40% raise. Their raise would be more than most people make in 1 - 2 years. Sorry they can't live within their means of $174,000. Maybe they should have done their jobs to keep costs down and then they wouldn't need a raise. Sorry to go on but this is just one of many beefs with them.

Just because a person lives in a sticks and bricks doesn't mean that their property maintenance or a company that they hire will come to help. Many in stationary structures still have to worry about electric bills unpaid, a crazy HOA, insane neighbors & hoarders, neighbor kids or dogs, etc. Being on the road has its challenges but I'd rather have the ability to move my vehicular home if things become risky. Also, moving around helps me find different types of healthy food to eat. It gives my dog the privilege of visiting different parks nearly every day. Thanks for the good info. 😎 👍🏾

I was in the Air Force 20 years and served during government shutdowns. Shutdowns don't affect military or people on social security. These two groups get paid weather the government shuts down or not. Civil service, however, is a different story.

I no longer believe that there ARE 'two parties'; I don;t see a difference when it comes to anything important,like helping us, which they don't, or giving money, and arms to other countries, or even our children's lives.

Its not only on a federal level. I see so many communities paying the highest property taxes ever , and yet, community services at an all time low or absent. Just one example, the county animal shelters that used to have low cost spaying, low cost vaccines. Ours is taking no more cats, and no more services. This used to funded by the county. There are feral cats everywhere now. Its like our world is reversing in civility. We've had a commissioner in for over 25 years. Defunding these basics and yet the taxes keep going up? Where is the money going?

So many have become dependent on government….Why? always be prepared people 🤷🏽‍♀️

Don't think for a minute that people ever recovered from that. Please, please, don't let that happen again! I still believe that people in the government who "retire" after a short term, should not do it with full paycheck and benefits, and sometimes protection. They should go out and work like the rest of us and retire on social security and pension benefits if they are due. People who didn't have to work hard all their lives do not understand what it takes They do not understand what it means if funds and paychecks are cut. Have they ever had to feed watered down soup, and peanut butter sandwiches at the end of the month, or have oatmeal for three meals? Or, how many times did i see Momma eat a lettuce and sugar sandwich, or even an onion sandwich while we ate the food. I thought it was because she liked them. It wasn't. She made sure Daddy and us got what we needed. The U.S. isn't as great as some believe. People say there aren't classes, but believe me we are separated by who has access to money and who doesn't.

The way the United States treats our elderly is a disgrace. We HAVE worked our whole lives and contributed to Social Security and Medicare and every senior citizen should be able to live comfortably in housing if they want to and should be able to afford the basic necessities. Nothing will change until the majority of American voters are willing to use their leverage by voting outside the two-party system.
