As I was picking up canned fruit after listening to this message, I noticed that some brands, like Dole and Del Monte, are sourcing from different countries. Dole, for instance, is from China and I think Del Monte had some from Taiwan. This made me think about concerns some of us might have, like the possibility of aluminum or lead being used in pots, as well as overall cleanliness standards in manufacturing. So, I just wanted to remind everyone to check the labels carefully. Some of the fruit is sourced from Asia, while others are from the USA, and it’s always good to be aware of where our food comes from. I did stock up on a few canned meats, which were on sale at 25% off, so at least that’s handled. Let’s stay prepared and watch for good deals, but be mindful of quality and sourcing too.

The thing with diabetic medication is that it's A, by prescription so you're limited by how much the doctor says you need at a time and B, limited by insurance - even if you wanted to, pharmacies won't let you pay out of pocket if insurance sets a date they'll authorize a refill.
Actually I have paid out of picket for medication that insurance wouldn't pay for when I misplaced the meds. I don't know if this would work with diabetes meds.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 Maybe things are different where we live. We tried that when she ran out of insulin "early" and the pharmacy absolutely refused to sell it to us since it was a prescription item.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 A follow up on this, I asked at the pharmacy again about this today. Insulin is by prescription only now, they'd get in the same trouble for selling extra as they would if it was a controlled narcotic.
Yep!! Stock more non perishable food, freeze dried foods, toilet paper, necessaties, find farmers markets or local farms to buy food from.. Definitely get what u need thats made abroad now( power sources) In stores and amazon. This definitely is a dangerous strike with a terrible domini affect.. Plus high inflation on the items available
Good advice and I think you are a logical and intelligent woman of good experience. Not to mention I always have to laugh about the toilet paper and paper towel issue I recall being in lines waiting to get something and it was ridiculous how people went bananas for that. To me one of the most essential things to stock up on might also be water in the event that you don't have good drinking water, but other than that I think you covered the basics.❤❤
You are spot on on your information and thank you for sharing it. I believe we will see a residual effect of what's going on for probably the next 7 to 9 months and this may be where the food riots are coming from that's been predicted to, everybody stay safe and stock up❤
I'm glad this came up on my feed, I hadn't heard about this I don't watch a lot of TV these days. I hope this doesn't go on to long my brother is a long haul truck driver for his sake and the others as well. I'm not going anywhere bc I can't afford it. I'm just trying to get the things around the house that I might need before winter comes in case there's a power outage, so I have alternative sources of heat and lighting a little extra food, propane for cooking on my camping stove etc.
I read that Costco and other major retailers planned ahead, in anticipation of a strike so maybe it won't be as bad as the 2020 shortages. Thank you for the advice, I will stock up. Wish I could lift that much water into a cart though.
I live in a small town in Texas and Covid taught me to stock up and be prepared. I try to keep a six month supply of canned goods, water and cleaning supplies on hand. I don't think the strike will last long only because it is an election year... but I have been wrong before... you could say I am cautiously optimistic.
I am making sure that I have money and local and regional banks and in at least four different places.. I keep cash to cover my monthly needs for fooling gas and utilities...at home.. I keep my gas tank full at all times not just the coldest part of the winter
I think if you are a nomad you need to go to u haul and rent some kind of storage to put food in if you don't already have one, because you can't store much food in your vehicle by having a storage you can always return to it and refill that's my advice.
Yes. Some folks who stay in one general area are doing that. It is a smart thing to do. But only canned foods as most storage places won't allow anything else.
There are a lot of nomads that are nomads because of serious financial reasons. Renting a storage unit might not be feasible - that can be $200 -$300 a month.
Salvation Army, red cross and other volunteers w organazations go to help and feed and bring all the stuff the people need. Iam a survivor of Katrina- it will all work out and this too shall pass❤
Look up just in time delivery system. Walmart doesn't have warehouses, so the only have 3 days of products available per their community. This is why at Christmas they bring in so many cargo containers as warehouses.
In an article I read doing research for this video it noted that WalMart and Dollar Tree were some of the main retailers that wihld be impacted by a Long strike. That makes since now with what you shared.
I know people that are still selling cleaning supplies and Toilet paper out of their garages from COVID.. People get crazy!! During lockdowns NOBODY was selling or sharing.. Now they are being forced to sell it pennies on the dollar... I really hate fear mongering... Being prepared to rough it is great though... most nomads already know how to do this... Maybe buy a few seeds and growing trays if you are heading to the desert and grow your own greens!! :)
The largest grocery store in my area is as big as a Walmart Super Center in size but the store is by far almost all food and related items. Not much of the department store stuff like a supercenter has. What does this store frequently run out of? One thing stands out; the least expensive brand of distilled water. Not "baby water", not "drinking water", not "spring water". Distilled water. In gallons with a screw on cap. People are actually pretty smart. Store managers... not so much. The other things they run out of are the best buys of common food items. Usually it's the "house brand" which is often lower price than national brands and sometimes better quality. Usually a short list of ingredients in comparison to famous brands also. Healthier. Folks are wise to the game.
I began a small stockpile a year ago. The last two months I had to use some for financial reasons, but it was time to rotate anyway. Timing wasn't so great, but I will see tomorrow way I Ned and what's available. I'm going to be laid up awhile after a surgery, so easy meals are a definite ite need. So it's not just a strike or pandemic when we need stockpiles. Listen to this common sense. Also, keep some cash at home.
We won't feel it right away. Of course it will increase inflation. I went to big lots for a package of TP and a couple of paper towels. Nomads maybe should pool and get a small storage room for some things they might need. It will effect exports as well. I'm getting ready to put my house up for sale. I have a house that costs less than those tiny homes on YT. Makes no sense. Get a life straw. Doesn't take up much space. I'm also taking most of my canned goods to the blessing box. Charities here don't want them; go figure.
That is crazy that a tiny house is more expensive than a stick built one. Go figure. Yes, we need to get ready for a big inflation boost if this strike goes more than two weeks . Even a week will have an impact!
🤔 Just curious . . . How long did it take for the backlog from emptying the ship’s containers during the pandemic before being restored to a normal schedule? I’ve noticed a local CVS has never had full shelves since 4 years ago.
When I was.working I could build up my medication, but now that I'm retired, it is very hard to get extra medications on medi care. You barely get them 4 days before you're out. So how do I do that?
It is a hard thing I know. Are you able to get any samples from your doctor? Also, have you checked to see if you qualify for free medications from the manufacturer? If you want to email me I will share what someone I know did..Not recommending it just sharing. Gloriouslifeonwheels@gmail.com
Now that is really interesting as the cheapest gas I could find anywhere near me was $4.09 last week. I paid $3.96 this morning. This is in southern. California. Don't understand how gas went down here and increased there. No rhyme or reason to this all!!
The President cannot suspend it. What the President can do is evoke Taft Hartley and request the Courts to call for a 80 day cooling off. The final decision would rest with the Courts.
The oil will likely not be affected. Fresh perishable produce limit will be item specific. Much of the perishable produce comes via air frieght. Yes, Christmas, toys, clothing, some electronics specific items may be affected. I don't expect the strike to be long term. Corporation have made and hoarded much money cash in the last 3 years. Just examine the corporate leaders paycheck. How are you enduring today, yesterday, California heat?
I certainly hope this strike doesn't go long for everyone's sake. It couldn't have happened at a worse time. One viewer shared that due to the hurricane supplies in Costcos in Tennesse and NC are depleted, as one would expect. I have read that car parts, autos, and electronics will be heavily impacted. As far as the heat I am back in moderate weather, but last week I was on the road and it was miserably hot with bugs galore!!!😡
The Knoxville Costco has been sold out of a lot of things for several days because of the flood situation in Tennessee & NC. I do not believe the retails have enough stock to go through Christmas. No way. BTW, gas in Alaska is $7-8 a gallon. Yes I think the strike may last longer than a few weeks.
From what I hear Costco brought in Christmas merchandise early. I am guessing they did not bring in perishable food for obvious reasons but am hoping they stocked up on canned goods. I guess we will find out soon enough. I have mixed opinions about the strike. I believe here are some behind the scenes wbo want it to go on for quite awhile for as it would benefit them and others who want it to end immediately as it would harm them. The timing is very suspect to me. Thr one thing that gets to me is I am guessing the union president who was a vocal.proponent of striking will likely still be collecting a paycheck while his men are out on strike. If that is thr case it is downright disgusting.
We are not that far from the covid shut down. We stood in line to enter stores and were limited on quantities we could buy. I had a hard time getting my prescriptions. Prepare judiciously not by panic buying.
Some nomads could group together and collectively rent a storage unit and have their own "Cooperative " food bank unit. Do this with folks you trust and won't abide by the rules of the group. I see forming small "cooperative groups" for storage and even land purchases for base homes as a way to go. 4-6 people can purchase 1-2 acres as a cooperative unit each with a proportioned section where they can have their own storage shed and van or house/shed. You work together for the good of the unit but have your own lives.
I don't know why more people, especially seniors with limited resources aren't doing this. There is a group of 15 Black families in Georgia that purchased 96 acres. Another group if 20 adults bought property in Oakland and built additi9nal homes in addition to the ones already there to form a small pocket community with their kids. They have a common kitchen, play area, etc. They even all go in together on groceries and have hired a cook who prepares all their meals.
Food banks almost always give put bags of beams and rice that don't take up a lot of space. Packets if tuna at WalMart are pretty cheap as are cans of sardines which can even be stored in shoes and glove boxes. Every little bit helps.
I don’t think it’ll last long, I think they’ll probably reach an agreement before it goes on too long Remember, there was a supply chain disruption before during Covid, and we recovered quickly when things resumed normalcy
Once..the workers get an increase in pay, then they will have to work at double time to catch up.. The ports are vital to our lives. We the people should have more control over this crippling shutdown. I would like discloure on the amount of money the top executives of the union...make?? It makes me believe this is more than just a pay increase. but a ploy to further trash our countries financial stability...
Trust me. They make a bundle. Also, I would like disclosure on what foreign interests own which port operations in the U.S.. I am going to do some research on that. I do not believe something so vital to our national interests should be owned by foreign enterprises.
Thank you for the work you do. Different topic and just want your input. I’m a little worried what will happen after the election. Especially if trump loses or if he wins. In the back of my mind I feel I should figure out a place to be to hunker down. Or what state or what town. Just in case the shit hits the fan!! lol. Thanks Mona
I think you are wise to be concerned. Either way, especially if Trump loses I think there is a high risk for violence. If it gets too bad we will have a national curfew with Marshall law. I pray it doesn't come to that and cooler heads prevail. What you do I think will depend on where you live and if you are a nomad or in a sticks and bricks. If you are a nomad I would strongly suggest having a plan so you are in a caravan or at least with a few other people. If you want to discuss it further you can email me at Gloriouslifeonwheels@gmail.com
Those striking port workers have had a 15% raise in wages in a time when wages have gone up much, more in other areas of the US workforce. The shipping company owners have made an 800% increase in profits. Don't blame the strikers for wanting fair wages.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 I thought it was a 50% raise over 5 years?? I guess I need to go back & read the latest. Either way, I understand why they need their requests met. Thanks for the information.
@@martna1 yes it is very hard work and very dangerous. I understand they currently make between $100 k and $200 k annually. They flat out rejected an offer of a 50% increase. That said everyone deserves tp be paid fairly and be safe at work. However I do not have the knowledge to suggest what fair compensation is
Although that's true... they get paid $100,000 a year with great benefits. What are the main reasons that they're concerned to strike is because of Automation and that would do and go a long way to help prevent dangerous situations. But they don't want automation to interfere, we can't stay in the horse and buggy era forever, and eventually as other countries have automation will become a precipice for the way things are handled more efficiently, effectively and to lower the prices that get passed on to consumers.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621Agreed, they're as greedy as their employers, and already make $100k salaries a year. They primarily just want to stifle automation.
The company offered them 50%. But they want more and they said no to that, but I think it's not about the money but I think they want to make a pointthat's why they rejected it not to mention they don't want AI or cybernet to take their jobs away. But what they fail to realize is cybernet is coming regardless. They're just prolonging it. Make no mistake, cybernet is coming.
@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 And go absolutely my dear absolutely. I'd be saying the same exact. Think all they're doing is slowing down. The what's to come cybernet is coming. Whether you like it or not I don't care for the internet or computers like that, but whether I like it or not, it's coming. It's gonna come to a time where we can't use cash anymore. Where we have to use machines for everything. Credit cards, even the poor have to use certain top credit cards. They're doing now in certain countries in China. They're doing a lot of that nonsense. So what about control? I think as well. I don't. That's why I don't trust automation.
Ok,,,I re-watched the interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe with Secretary Pete Buttigieg on youtube titled ' This needs to get resolved': Secretary Buttigieg on the ongoing dockworker strike. I need to correct my 800% to read 350%. My sympathies still lie with the dockworkers who some years didn't get any raise in pay.
Based on my recent research, even if the President pulled Taft Hartley it only means that he is asking a court to call for an 80 day cooling off period. The final decision woild be up to the Court. I personally think this strike will last between two ajd three weeks. I don't think the ego of thr union president will allow for him to settle before then based on all of his grandiose talking.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 I still think Taft Hartley is a viable option. If you don’t do it, you don’t know if it will work. It does not look good for the administration to do otherwise. My opinion. I really appreciate your videos. They are so informative.

Absolutely water. I actually also bought a dehumidifier in order to collect water too in a pinch.
Sigh...thanks for the guidance...so much prayer needed...wish my husb was more on board...my God guide us all what to do
Thank you Carol
You are spot on on your information and thank you for sharing it. I believe we will see a residual effect of what's going on for probably the next 7 to 9 months and this may be where the food riots are coming from that's been predicted to, everybody stay safe and stock up❤
I sure hope it doesn't come to this. But we need to be prepared just in case.
So smart of you to work on getting prepared for winter.👍 I certainly hope your brother and other truckers are able to get back on the road soon!!
You don’t need TV to be aware. I don’t have TV
Thx ! I hadn’t thought of the timing yet. I think you are right about pressure behind the scenes building up due to the timing of it all.
@@kellynewtonmusic I believe the union President picked this time for specific personal and political reasons.
Yes, a video on being prepared would be great!

Thank you. 💜
Im not worried about furl. The USA is oil independent. We produce almost as much oul as Saudi Arabia from shale. We just need to stop exporting it.
This stroke may reveal a lot of unknowns.
Excellent and informative!
I’ve been storing dry goods for months and I willing to suffer! WE NEED TO RISE UP AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM CORPORATIONS!!!
Iam on the ms gulfcoast… so far all of our stores are fully stocked, not sure if ppl here no about it or if this area will be affected…
Good points! Thankfully, I heard on the news this evening that the strike is temporarily settled, pending voting by union members.
I read that Costco and other major retailers planned ahead, in anticipation of a strike so maybe it won't be as bad as the 2020 shortages. Thank you for the advice, I will stock up. Wish I could lift that much water into a cart though.
😊thanks for the information…
💐This is Laverne ,thanks for your video it was so informative 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you😊 I really appreciate your comment as I did do quite.a bit of research for this video.
I live in a small town in Texas and Covid taught me to stock up and be prepared. I try to keep a six month supply of canned goods, water and cleaning supplies on hand.
I don't think the strike will last long only because it is an election year... but I have been wrong before... you could say I am cautiously optimistic.
You certainly learned well from the Covid experience!
I would suggest extra items for one's vehicle as well... oil, transmission/brake fluid, etc.
Great point!
People have been hoarding already. Shelves are already empty
I am heading into Costco in a few to see for myself. I have been hearing reports of shortages already with certain items.
Have to be prepared. Thanks for sharing sis ❤
Be ready!
I am making sure that I have money and local and regional banks and in at least four different places.. I keep cash to cover my monthly needs for fooling gas and utilities...at home.. I keep my gas tank full at all times not just the coldest part of the winter
Very smart!
I agree, you must also follow Dan of I Allegedly. He warned us of Bank of America and today people woke up to "zero balances".

People are already panic shopping at Costco in Woodstock, GA🙄
I saw more people at Costco last Sunday than I have ever seen before!!!
I stocked up but I can't imagine it will go long.
I am predicting it will end by October 21st.
❣️ thanks for the info
I more worried about Helene victims getting food
Supposedly they are air lifting food and supplies. I hope so. On TV I saw people there filling up uckets with dirty flood water!

They are even bringing in supplies by mule trains for way back in the hills!!
October 2nd, Costco had no TP and only Bounty paper towels in Tulsa OK
I truly believe this is what the union president wanted to happen. Of you listen to him that will reveal a lot.
Wow 😲, that's crazy carol 😍😮
Will be very bad if it is prolonged!
Aldi sells canned potatoes, not bad at all, very reasonable price. Thx for the heads up.
I'll have to check that out.
Toilet paper already GONE off the shelves at Walmart and H. E. B. here in West Texas! It's absolutely ridiculous!!!
The hoarders are out!
People are morons. They think Charmin in Texas comes in via ship. From where? Some things in the grocery store are imported, but most are not.
That makes since now with what
you shared.
The main thing is exercising good judgment. Have an adequate amount of supplies on hand at all times just un case.
And sprouts
If u ever come through Charlotte give me a heads up love to meet u
If I do I suee will😊 But, when I am in N.C. I am usually in Eastern N.C. near Greenville.
It will be resolved fairly quickly. I have everything prepared because I reside on the Gulf Coast.
I sure hope it gets resolved quickly or we are all in the soup!
I pray that you are right !
Yep. We are all.looking to be wise with our money these days!
What's a life straw?

I live in Texas I paid 2.43 a gallon gas sunday it has been low for several months this morning 2.89 but will it keep going up ?just wondering.
Now that is really interesting as the cheapest gas I could find anywhere near me was $4.09 last week. I paid $3.96 this morning. This is in southern. California. Don't understand how gas went down here and increased there. No rhyme or reason to this all!!
I still have stuff stored from the COVID scare...mostly expired already.😷
Yeah. I bought a lot of hand sanitizer mot paying attention to the expiration dates!
California seaports are closing but the requirements on OTR in your state is strick!
The President could suspend the strike which would give the unions and companies an 80-day cooling period to resolve their issues.
That makes sense!!
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 102 degrees in San Jose today! Hot again tomorrow!
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 having worked a union job one time I would say the boss will definitely still be drawing a check.
We are not that far from the covid shut down. We stood in line to enter stores and were limited on quantities we could buy. I had a hard time getting my prescriptions. Prepare judiciously not by panic buying.
As long as we don't have Soup Lines again, i am satisfied
Some nomads could group together and collectively rent a storage unit and have their own "Cooperative " food bank unit. Do this with folks you trust and won't abide by the rules of the group. I see forming small "cooperative groups" for storage and even land purchases for base homes as a way to go. 4-6 people can purchase 1-2 acres as a cooperative unit each with a proportioned section where they can have their own storage shed and van or house/shed. You work together for the good of the unit but have your own lives.
Collectivism rarely works
I don't know why more people, especially seniors with limited resources aren't doing this. There is a group of 15 Black families in Georgia that purchased 96 acres. Another group if 20 adults bought property in Oakland and built additi9nal homes in addition to the ones already there to form a small pocket community with their kids. They have a common kitchen, play area, etc. They even all go in together on groceries and have hired a cook who prepares all their meals.
How can poor people living in their vehicle, stock up on anything?
Food banks almost always give put bags of beams and rice that don't take up a lot of space. Packets if tuna at WalMart are pretty cheap as are cans of sardines which can even be stored in shoes and glove boxes. Every little bit helps.
Dried food, you can even store under your seats, store in large ziplock bags
Right dont hoard but try to have a months worth of non perishable food.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621great advice!!
I don’t think it’ll last long, I think they’ll probably reach an agreement before it goes on too long
Remember, there was a supply chain disruption before during Covid, and we recovered quickly when things resumed normalcy

Those striking port workers have had a 15% raise in wages in a time when wages have gone up much, more in other areas of the US workforce. The shipping company owners have made an 800% increase in profits. Don't blame the strikers for wanting fair wages.
They haven't been on strike in almost 50 years. It's hard work and dangerous. Praying it won't last long. They have several legitimate issues.
They do, but it is unrealistic to think they can demand a 70+ percentage raise over their 6 yr contract.
I think it is more about job security too. But they are fighting a losing battle if they want NO automation. They are going to have to compromise.
Think of all the perishables stuck at port for weeks. Someone is still paying for those. Someone must haul them to the dump.
Someone needs to envoke Taft Hartley.
