Our government has advised for *decades* to be ready for at least the first 72 hours to survive on your own, and to network and help each other. This is *decades* old advice.
Just remember one thing if the government tells you to stock up for 72 just make sure you have 10 times that. My suggestion is stock up for at least a year and rotate it out.

I am always open to accurate info. We should have learned from Katrina but apparently didn't. I stand by my statements. FEMA is not adept at handling immediate crisis situations where l8ves are in the balance. They are more about longterm aid. There are special units in thr military that are better suited this takes strategic military precision action that I have yet to see FEMA leadership demonstrate.
Unfortunately I have no tribe. I live alone with my daughter and two very very small dogs, and that really didn't affect me until the last storm in Houston. I managed to find a generator at Lowes. My car's trunk is to small to handle a large generator. So I had to rent a truck. Anyway when I got home we couldn't lift the generator from the back of the truck. In the heat and anxiety I didn't know what I was going to do. My neighbors and I aren't the most friendly. I had to go to my neighbor and ask him to help me get the generator from the back of the truck. Not only did he take it out of the car, he set it up for me. He told me to go and try to find gas while he worked on the generator. That was the first time that I felt helpless and vulnerable. I pride myself on being able to do it myself, but that was a wake up call for me. Now we're not hanging on the fence talking to each other but they did send me a card, saying don't hesitate to reach out to them if I need help in the future, and don't rent a truck again because they have one. So I guess I kind of have a sort of tribe. LOL
That could be the start of a tribe. But I wohld certainly bake your neighbors a cake ir something. If you think about it God said it was n9t good for Adam to be alone and gave him a helpmate. We are not meant to travel this journey thru life alone. Perhaps join a bookclub or go to activities at your senior center if yoj arr a senior ir volunteer somewhere. You never know how or where you will meet the very people that could be there for you in your time of need.
I totally agree!! Help our own people who are in dire need. It is neighbors helping neighbors, it has always been that way when the rubber hits the road.
@ericisave Facts, that's my thing as well I agree. What you got to understand America is not really helping these other countries. For no reason, they do it for reasons that they don't tell us about. It's about war. It's about controlling land and countries. I'm not gonna wait, no one is doing. That's why it's giving money to there than to give to the young people.
But with the world situation, we can't take care of everyone. The government is out to help the world, everyone except its citizens. Y ou don't think that is wrong?
As a recent tornado surviver Id say have enough for 2 weeks!!! Have a back up phone and or amateur radio!! Hand help power pack for phone/ radio Can easily get a basic license!!! Yep have a tribe at least a group of 4 people, a couple emergency safe places u can go!! If u stay somewhere for several days make sure someone knows where u are...and a local.person knows where u are. Check on your tribe abd other people as well.. Volunteer with non profits when u can. .
These are some great suggestions!! I used to live in Owensboro, Kentucky. I hope you dodn't suffer any damage from the tornado and you amd tours are ok.

It's always this way in a huge national disaster. Local people help while the government takes one day to assess, one day to organize, one day to deliver. Helene is much bigger than Katrina was, which makes help arrive even slower. Can't say I agree with stopping aid to Ukraine but I'm not in favor of paying illegal's costs. I do remember back when Clinton was president, people had a very positive opinion of FEMA, but that got lost under Bush and has never recovered.
What disturbs me is the blocking of help from individuals who are concerned, competent and capable. Ready to support and provide assistance. Shame on the politicians for diverting our tax dollars from FEMA to support …. Well just research it for yourself.

This is why if or when I buy my piece of land it's gonna be on high groundand away from hurricane areas. If possible, this is why if you choose to buy a piece of land do your research first on the weather era in the areathe rain in the area and what's it like year round in the area where you buy that piece of landthis way, you can guarantee you'll be saferbut close. To riversand waters and lakes. If hurricanes come bad weather come, you'll get drowned in that. So do your research first before you buy land.
I live near Asheville, NC (Western North Carolina) and this storm isn't normal weather for this area. the last time a storm of this magnitude occurred in this area was 1916. Anything can happen anywhere. I never in my life (77) expected to the catastrophic destruction that Helene has inflicted upon us in Western NC.
@elainegoad9777 That's the scary thing like it says it's not normal, you're right? Climate is changing that's the problem too. The world is changing for the worse, I think.
ABSOLUTELY HAVE A TRIBE! The only thing that I think you missed is that phones might not work. Land lines might have washed away or failed and cell towers may be down. Have a “go bag” that includes a heavy duty water filter, 1st aid kit, hand crank radio, and some kind of security communication device. Know your route out and have alternates. Watch a video now for what needs to be included and have it in a readily accessible area. I don’t think you can plan for everything - who can imagine the mudslides for instance.
Great points. O did a video with the staff from the Red Cross awhile back. that included crank radios. Think I will do an updated video again. You are so right. There are some things you just can't plan for like entire cliffs falling down!
I agree wholeheartedly. I'm beginning to understand why there is so much anger. It's UNACCEPTABLE that we're sending gazillions of $$ overseas (we always have money for war) while total disregard to the citizens of this country. I feel horrible for the people in Ukraine and elsewhere that are trying to survive the chaos. But it's beyond time that we focus on re-building our country and the people that need help. It's UNACCEPTABLE that there's a homeless epidemic. It's UNACCEPTABLE that the billionaires get a tax break and the poverty level keeps increasing. It's UNACCEPTABLE that thousands of people freeze to death in England every year. It's UNACCEPTABLE that corporations have so much influence on the policy makers. That began with Citizen United. What we've got is capitalism on steroids and it's crushing our country and the people in it. I haven't had a decent night sleep in a VERY long time.
Corporations drafted a lot of our regulations and laws. They used the public comment process against the American public, long before Citizens United. That is why there are so many carcinogens in the US food supply and not in EU and other country’s food.

As a Canadian I'm feeling pretty useless at the moment and would like to help, but if FEMA is blocking people is there any point? Does anyone know the name of reputable local organizations that I could donate to? It's hard watching the American government treat their citizens this way.
Thank you! Also please look up “mountain mule packer ranch” in western NC. They are using their mules and horses to get tons of food and necessities into their area since it first happened.
Thre are RUclips creators who live in TN and worked to raise money, drop supplies and share links to reputable charities. They are @pinballpreparedness and Patara's Homestead. Their channels have lonks on how to help.
That’s always the way it goes. We had a flood here in 2016. Local people were helping others that night. FEMA didn’t show up because it wasn’t a big enough disaster. PEMA stepped in after 10 days s or so and UMCOR as well It takes time to get people into place
@emilyfeagin2673 this storm according to many is the worst storm to ever hit. Even Katrina reporters said this was worse. Everything alot of these towns had is gone. All the rds are gone. Their houses, cars. Our death toll will reach 1000s. Military showed up day 7. Fema day 5 but all they did was walk around with clipboard. I'm still not sure what military is doing. I've been by and video two days n a row and they are mostly just there n that spot. I love military. My kids are military. I know they take orders but they aren't or didn't get them here fast enough. A friend got a call yesterday to tell her whole family . 34 members who lived n the same holler are all dead. All of them. They lived back in the mnts of Burnsville. I agree width you 100 percent. Frankly, under the current administration the spending on Ukraine and illegal immigrants will not stop no matter what. Hold back on the hate please folks. I have a right to my informed opinion. Thank you as always for keeping it real.
I came over to this vlog because you referred to it when I just saw your last livestream. I have been very impressed with you and when you pointed out that things are not and have not been handled well despite who was president at the time, I saw that you were truly a thinking person; so many are brainwashed into being polarized and not seeing what is truly going on. We are being played. I believe that it is obvious to those who will truly see that there are bigger powers pulling strings. If nothing else, what happened last 'election' and what happened now makes no sense whatsoever, if things were on the up-and-up. I FIRMLY believe that the 'immigrant problem' and how it is handled, along with what is not being done for citizens, is part of the plan to get people angry and when the upcoming economic crisis hits, people will have to beg for, or accept, martial law. I sincerely hope that I am wrong. If you see to whom the real money is going to, more makes sense. Who is the head of Ukraine, put there by U.S. powers, and what people were immigrating there, buying up land? I am not prejudiced against any people except those who abuse power. I follow the Torah Rabbis on social media and other good people who are against the genocide in the Middle East, (the Not in My Name movement). Why is the U.S. supporting this? If it were any other power, we'd be fighting them. I fear for the safety of the Israeli people, and their soldiers with consciences who are refusing to go back to serve or are unaliving themselves daily. There is so much to be fearful of. Both candidates were puppets, as the presidents have been. They did away with JFK when he said he'd expose those who would enslave every man, woman and child. That speech has been washed from RUclips; I wish I had recorded it. Theer are powers at paly and I am not sure who, but we absolutely have to do our best for ourselves and as many around us as we can when problems, (most of which seem to be planned), hit hard. God be with you.
CONGRESS ( the House and the Senate) approves funding for Ukraine and Israel, etc... Sec. Blinken can't just decide to send Ukraine funding by himself. Illegal immigrants should sent back. Legal immigrants should stay and work, pay taxes, etc...

Please friends spread the word to parents to NURSE your babies!! This could mean life or death for your children!!! Really encourage women to nurse their babies!! If you don't have formula or water for the babies you can still nurse and save water that you do have!! Remember LORD JESUS is KING of kings and LORD of lords!! Serve Him not govt/merica/any person!!
@@martna1 I didn't say every mom can. BUT a lot more resources are available for moms now to nurse or pump. A lot of "not being able to" is a lack of the know how. Just because one person can't or won't shouldn't stop women from trying very very hard like their child's life depends on it then to give up or not research into how to do it!! LORD JESUS guide
Does anyone remember when baby formula was scarce + very expensive and illegals got priority for it? Shameful that white citizen mothers were told to nurse their babies!
I absolutely agree, this response, as well as most responses is terrible. FEMA, as well as most Government agencies is good at talking about programs but terrible at following through. I have a few stories, but will not bore people with them. Our Government does not take care of our citizens properly.
And the $750 the government is giving out is only if you "qualify " for it. I saw a video where a lady said she wasn't getting it and no one she talked to was getting it.
I live in the area and talked to some people who got money for generators and one lady lost her home and FEMA is paying for a place for her to stay. Yes, you do have to qualify for FEMA assistance. If you had no loss of property, power, injury, expense for tree & mud removal etc... them maybe you don't qualify. I lost all my food in the freezer and was without electric and water but I'm not applying for FEMA money. There's folks who lost their homes or had damage to their homes or who still don't have electric or water and they need help.
The disparity of care for our own people is disgusting. Those areas hit by Helene have had generations of people that paid taxes and served our country. Our tax dollars should help our own citizens first. Yes we love to help others but c’mon let’s help our own. 😢 watching the misuse of money for helping non citizens to reclaiming beachfront so expensive homes don’t wash away and similar projects …. It defies any logic and shows how our money is mismanaged by greedy politicians.
After Katrina I stopped expecting the governmentto help. Hurricane Maria's impact on P.R., the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and Maui are more recent examples that FEMA and government does not have a good track record in msnaging large emergencies. I am not shocked by the lack of response in NC, but still disgusted by it in light of all the spending on migrants and abroad.
I understand the importance of aiding Ukraine. However, I think that the govt. needs to allocate enough funds for situations such as Helene before they promise it away to other countries. The United States needs to look after it's own first. How can you take care of others if you don't take care of yourself? $750? That's not enough for a family to live off of for even a week if they have to stay in a hotel and buy food or even buy a few necessary items for personal care. And some of these victims have no power or intenet to even apply online. It's so insane.
When trump was in office the amount was $600. He has managed to create the greatest deficit which we’ll be paying for for decades because of his tax cuts for the top 1%.
I believe the reports I’ve seen on different TV stations that there is a lot of help from the federal government coming in right now. And I also know having hiked the mountains around Blue Ridge Mountains a week before the storm hit that it is not an easy task to bring people, regardless of there skills into that areas for rescue services, especially since the infrastructure is totally destroyed right now.
Back during Katrina the US was engaged in the Iraq war which limited the funding for FEMA. Just like now we are gearing up for war in the Middle East so there is no appetite for the kind of funding that FEMA needs to be there for the Americans who desperately needs their help. Plus the head of FEMA is exmilitary and might be a little biased as to who deserves the funding the most. Add in the fact that our president is a Democrat but Congress is being lead by Republicans and the funding for FEMA must be approved by Congress it means that the very people who gave the government the money aren't getting the help needed. I guess Israel is more important to them 🤬

Feels a bit biblical, but I am not a scholar of biblical times. I am a believer though, and that calms me. I have been in rough times. I’m glad it was in my early adulthood. Knowledge is everything and mistakes happen. It is true that you actually learn from them. Well…most of us. Being prepared is, as you said, key. Having a tribe is so beneficial. Even if you are a loner, as I am, but not always. I enjoy gathering from time to time. But I know my tribe and I know where they are. You are sharing your knowledge with all of us. Such a kind thing to do.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621I felt the need to clarify my statement “know who they are”. My “tribe” is long term friends and acquaintances, and a few family members. I KNOW them. Most of us have risen from difficult circumstances. We know each other’s skill set and needs. We are machinists, carpenters, nurses, hunters and we have some who are just born leaders. We are scattered at this time but we know how to connect. A tribe is more than a group of people , it’s a CONNECTED group. I hope your words are not taken lightly. I have never seen our nation as divided as it is today. We need to care for each other. More now than ever. We must pray for and seek knowledge and guidance and that our hearts do not harden in hard times. May God bless us all and help us find our connections.
I agree with you Carol they need to stop helping others and start helping our people. No other country is going to help us so why are we helping them? I understand helping people in need but we need to take care of ours first.

History has taught us even when warned there are people that do not make good choices when it comes to personal safety. Our government and our military have a job to do already to secure our safety. The wheel never turns as fast as we want. I hope there is enough humanity in people to help those in need. Be solution driven Carol not a Karen complaining.
A lot of people had no place to go. Shelters fill up fast. People on oxygen etc... need to be in the shelter with a generator when the power is out. I'm 25 mi SE of Asheville NC and had to stay in my apartment. They did take a resident , on oxygen, to a shelter last Saturday but I haven't seen her come back to her apartment yet.
There has been a LOT to complain about in our recent history. It's not by the people, for the people, and of the people anymore. We have lost our humanity, priorities, what this country stood for at one time. Corruption and greed has taken over and that, too, has been "normalized".

@@fluffyfeathers49 certainly one party blatantly lies more than the other and consistently votes against the better interests of their constituents. So I don’t see both parties as the same if that’s what your getting at.
It's illegal for regular military troops to operate within the united states, that's what the National Guard is for. That's why the units you listed don't get called in. Instead of getting people riled up, please get correctly informed first so that what you're saying isn't causing unnecessary anger and resentment. As far as Ukraine vs. Americans, it isn't an either-or situation. Biden approved many millions in aid for the victims of Helene immediately. The delays in getting aid into the people who didn't evacuate when they had the chance are because FEMA and the National Guard and volunteer/donation groups have to wait for the storm to end and for conditions to settle down enough that they CAN get in there to help people, without putting themselves in unnecessary danger. After all, they can't help anyone if they die on their way there because they went in too soon. If the wind is still whipping and rain is coming down in deluges, they can't fly helicopters in and they certainly can't do air-rescues from them either. Helene was a slow moving storm, so it took a little longer than usual. This should be common sense, but for some reason people are all too happy to cry and complain that help didn't arrive within an hour or two of the incident starting. People who aren't prepared to rough it for a week or two, should evacuate when they're told to, even if that means asking someone else to help them evacuate. There's plenty of warning before hurricanes make landfall. It's not like a tornado where you're lucky to get 5 minutes warning. BTW, privately operated donation/volunteer groups never receive federal aid, so that lady saying "no, we haven't received any federal aid" doesn't mean the federal gov't or FEMA is failing or withholding. And the donations getting stopped at the airport is probably due to safety issues. ie; FEMA stopping well-meaning stupid people from getting themselves killed. And regarding Ukraine...years ago, we made a deal with Ukraine that if they would give up their nuclear weapons, we (and NATO) would provide aid in the event they were attacked by Russia. Withholding aid would be breaking our word, which would make our word worth nothing in every other treaty; past, present, and future. Keeping our word to Ukraine, is far CHEAPER for us than it would be if we backed out and Ukraine fell to Russia because then Russia would attack Poland and the Balkins, next. Poland is in NATO. We would be obligated to stand with Poland, including sending in OUR troops, under Article 5 of NATO, just like NATO countries stood with us in Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11. Active duty troops and equipment on the ground, engaged in a war with Russia, would cost far more than the aid we're currently giving to Ukraine and would put the USA in danger too, because Russia and its ally, China, do have weapons capable of reaching the USA. Aid to Ukraine is an "ounce of prevention" that benefits our national security. It's obvious that when you do research, you're getting it from right-wing biased sources. Here's a couple of tips for you: #1 log out of your google account before you do your searches and you'll get a broader spectrum of results. As long as you're logged in to your account, the algorithm will show you what it thinks you want to see, based on your past activity. If you've been looking at right biased sources, that's what it will keep showing you, taking your results further and further to the extreme. #2 check out ground news (ground dot news). It shows you what is being reported on the right, left, and center, and if the articles are biased or heavily weighted, etc... and also has a "blindspot" section that will show you what ISN'T being reported on the right or the left or in the center. It's a great resource for finding out what's REALLY going on and how media bias is misleading people and causing unnecessary division.
Not sure how long your reply will stay up here, plenty with your same effort towards education seem to be deleted. Fantastic, educated response though!!!

Replying to the rumor that funding for FEMA disaster response had been "diverted to support international efforts or border related issues," the government agency said on its specially dedicated fact check page: "This is false. No money is being diverted from disaster response needs. FEMA's disaster response efforts and individual assistance is funded through the Disaster Relief Fund, which is a dedicated fund for disaster efforts. Disaster Relief Fund money has not been diverted to other, non-disaster related efforts."

Have you taken the time to look into where almost(around90%) all of that money going to Ukraine comes from? How about ALL of the equipment we are sending over to them? If you check it out, yes WE are sending money to them but it is money we have seized/frozen from Russia and so in turn they are getting money that way. Yes! Exactly. Roads are completely gone. There's no safe passage to some of the places. They're using mules. I get that people want to help. This is not a war. This is an act of God, and you have to be more patient. Listen Gloria, normally I always agree with you but you a spreading fear and rumors. Don’t you think people are capable of making the right calls. Where are you getting your information from?
I am not a political channel and contrary to what many think this is a political video it is not. I call out what I see whatever side it is on and I believe humanitarian aid should go to Americans in need first. That is not political but simply common sense. Who would let their own family starve while feeding others?? No one with good sense!!
As far as people staying on top of their rooms, I love them had warning to leave a lot of people don't believe the weather forecast and they stay behind and that is the consequences of stain will they should be left.
I disagree with you on some things. Come on, Ukrainian have fought and given their lives for this country. This was all in place before the hurricane. You have got to be kidding. Ukrainians are our allies and we should help they though this invasion that is almost 3 years of bombing, murders, people being killed in the comfort of their own homes. Gloria, where is your heart. People are people no matter where they live. I am a little disappointed with your words regarding Ukrain.😢
Agree with you 100%, we need to take care of our own before we take care of others. Imagine telling the people who pay taxes that their isn't money or resources to help them but there's money to send overseas and help criminals. Probably not a popular take, but yes, someone who has entered the country illegally has committed a criminal act and it feels like they're being rewarded for it to the detriment of folks who actually contribute to our society.
FEMA provides supplies, housing, money for losses etc... It's First Responders (Police, Sherriffs, Fire Departments, EMT's, Search & Rescue people with dogs and volunteers) who are out trying to help. The State National Guard has to be called up by the Governor so these people have to gather from various locations in the state and get their "stuff"together and deploy. Gov. Cooper has called up NC N. Guard. The President can send US Military to help (Biden has sent 1000 troops to NC)
If FEMA is not helping why are the Republican Governors and mayors telling us that they are? Do you think you are helping by perpetuating these untruths? What do you know of what is really happening? My daughter also lives in North Carolina and she is not saying the same things you are. I have watched many videos in the past several days by people who are actually there and they aren’t saying the same thing you are saying. If you are going to start to making your channel a political channel count me out! I’m canceling my subscription today I’ve had enough of you talking about things you know nothing about!
First of all I did not say FEMA doesn't help. What I said is in the first critical hours they were not there and they are mostly effective for long term assistance as opposed to immediate help. I also stated that there are military units and the Coast Guard that are better equipped and trained for this kind of crisis operation. Apparently you know nothing about what happened during Katrina and how many people perished waiting days for help. I had friends and family in Nee Orleans when Katrina struck and they were very clear about what FEMA did and didn't do during those first critical days. I don't know what videos you are watching from people in North Carolina, or where your daughter is but if you need to see those who have not been helped I will gladly send you names of those individuals and their channels, including names of folks from non profits on the ground who have not seen FEMA in the areas they are serving. Even government suggestions say people need to have supplies for a minimum of 72 hours as help may not reach them for days.in aj emerg4ncy. If my sharing these facts is not something you want to hear then Godspeed to you. There are plenty of channels that will say whatever you want to hear. I am not one of those channels. Whether poor performance is on the left or right i I call it out, not based on polit8cs but verified facts. My allegiance is not to one side or the other, but to the truth and revealing it. Let the body count and how long after the storm hit these poor victims waited for help before they perished speak for itself.
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 If you were sharing only "verified facts" then you would know that bit about Biden taking money from FEMA and giving it to illegal immigrants is utter nonsense started by Donald Trump (who, btw, DID take funding away from FEMA to waste on that stupid border wall that he built less than 100 miles of, and parts of which is already falling down... He also withheld aid from California during a major forest fire until his aids proved to him that orange county had a lot of Trump supporters in it, then he decided to go ahead and approve the aid.).
FEMA was sent way too late...i was a rescuer with FEMA from 1995 to 2007...i know...poor response..poor communications....they had no planning for anything with this much infrastructure destroyed.. In the mountains... The us military would be better..but tge slow response is terrrible..typical bureaucracy and departments not talking to each other...president delayed response too
I agree with some parts of what you are saying as yes the people here need help and in catastrophic instances they need the national guard etc. some areas are too dangerous to get into due to electrical wires, mud and in the south some of that mud is like quicksand...if the winds are unpredictable it's very dangerous for a helicopter pilot and fixed wings can only hold a certain amount of weight they also need the fuel and a safe place to land. There are a lot of logistics to consider but basically there needs to be a plan of order and someone to handle it. I did see on the news there were a lot of mules being used to carry supplies into areas where the roads have been washed away. Regarding Ukraine we need to help our allies and Ukraine is very important if Russia takes Ukraine they will continue to other countries. I do feel bad for the illegals wanting a better life and escaping their harsh reality but we need to prioritize housing for our elderly, homeless etc first before providing housing for illegals.
Thank you for pointing all that out. A lot of us are reacting emotionally, I'm definitely in that camp, but you pointing out all the logistics helps keep things in perspective. I hadn't considered all that. And yes, Ukraine is important and my heart breaks for the people. And my heart also go out to the people who are trying to escape their country. But, yes, we need to prioritize the citizens of this country. They've been getting ignored and it is NOT acceptible that increasing numbers of people are becoming homeless. It is NOT acceptable that the poverty rate is rising while there's massive amounts of wealthy who don't pay their fair share.
@@TLA123y6fmost people screaming the loudest about there not being enough services are the very same people who support the very people giving tax cuts to the top one percent that creating trillions in deficit under the last administration that could be used to prop up social services. They continue to support a party of trickle down economics even though they don’t see any of the trickle and they support the “pick yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality, I guess they still haven’t figured out that that means them now.
It is not the government responsibility to save you from Mother Nature. We need to stop being negative and take care of ourselves. I suggest you take a positive approach to helping others and stop criticizing and blaming everyone else.
You sound like a Libertarian ? We pay taxes and the money should be used to benefit the citizens that pay the taxes. " Everyone Does Better, When Everyone Does Better"
We pay taxes. Those taxes are there to help the people. Or supposed to be. By the people. For the people. and Of the people. We've lost our way and need to get back to that.
You have to wonder if that is why. If people die or are incapacitated, it is hard or they are unable to vote. Funny thing is NC is mostly Trump Country. Asheville, not so much. I lived there on a job assignment at the Grove Park for about a year. This was a long time ago -like 25 years- but I remember how eclectic it was - it was very white (which I don't think it is now) but had a new age/psychic community and LGBT people. It also had a lot of people that were conservative and in the mountains who I would say would be Republican-some people didn't have phones. Unless it changed a lot it is probably a mix of Dem and Republican

You are actually spreading disinformation. This is type of of video is causing such harm.
You don't understand how Fema works.
Please tell me what information I shared in this video that was wrong and provide the receipts for such. I can share dozens of videos of people in North Carolina who had not received any help or seen FEMA days after Helene hit. I can provide loads of information including first hand accounts on the hellish nightmare Katrina was. Secretary Blinken is on camera sharing the amount of humanitarian aid being sent to Ukraine.
There are records of the monies approvvd by Congress to provide aid to local governments to pay for lodging and services for illegal immigrants. I can provide thr names of entire hotels that were taken over and contracted to provide housing for illegal immigrants, I can provide the name and contact info of the head of the non-profit in Ashville who shared that FEMA stopped their supplies from being distributed to them.
So please, tell me exactly what I stated that is false. I can provide proof for all my statements same as I always could when I was a journalist and investigator for Superior Courts. So if you are going to accuse me of something either provide your proof or refrain from spreading false information and accusations about me!!

I agree. Military and Fema and all other relevant services and organisations always work together on disaster relief.
Our government has advised for *decades* to be ready for at least the first 72 hours to survive on your own, and to network and help each other. This is *decades* old advice.
This is good advice. However, in many of these cases even the storage areas where supplies we located were washed away as were many homes.
@@alexcarter8807 except that this is different. They found people with no shoes clinging to trees. Home gone. Along with it your 72 hours comment.
I prep. Many people prep but if your house goes and the whole town floods there in no preparing for that.
Just remember one thing if the government tells you to stock up for 72 just make sure you have 10 times that. My suggestion is stock up for at least a year and rotate it out.
Did you not see that people's entire homes and everything they owned were washed away? Please watch the news so you are informed.

You have the freedom to say what's on your mind, and it needs to be said. Thank you.
Charity begins at home. They should know that by now, charity begins at home. It doesn't begin elsewhere.
Correct! A rich nation should not have some of its citizens living in squalor (especially children and military veterans).
Amen
But with the world situation, we can't take care of everyone. The government is out to help the world, everyone except its citizens. Y ou don't think that is wrong?
@tonette6592 Guess the government's supposed to take return people first always.
I agree with you totally you are speaking the truth
if the government wanted to save and help the people, they would be doing it.

Carol I would appreciate a video to help us understand how to pack a basic to go bag and how to find a ccomfortable quality back pack
I have a couple of dozen requests at least for different videos, but I will try to get to it. 😊

@janiswilliams2ty!766
Not every mom can do that. I was 39 when I had my girl 32 years ago and couldn't make enough milk so she had to have formula too.
@@martna1 I encountered that issue with child #2 forty four years ago. With #3 I was successful for 11-months. He went straight to a cup after that.

I absolutely agree, this response, as well as most responses is terrible. FEMA, as well as most Government agencies is good at talking about programs but terrible at following through. I have a few stories, but will not bore people with them. Our Government does not take care of our citizens properly.
Why cant our own goverment help our people. Its like their traitors!😢
It takes time.
Corruption equates to *treason!*
Talk to congress. They allocate fubds
I think all humanitarian aid to foreign countries should cease and those funds be diverted to the victims of Helene and the upcoming hurricane.
Project 2025 proposes doing away with FEMA and the National Weather Service
That should help
I guess Israel is more important to them 🤬
The terrain is what making distribution so difficult...its not the norm...elevation is so hazardous
Good point.
Except it’s not a “natural “ disaster Carol. That’s why…Katrina was a test.
I was dreaming in my dreaming
Of an aspect bright and fair
And my sleeping it was broken
But my dream it lingered near
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
That the people have the power
To redeem the work of fools
From the meek, the graces shower
It's decreed the people rule
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
Vengeful aspects became suspect
And bending low as if to hear
Well, and the armies ceased advancing
Because the people had their ear
And the shepherds and the soldiers
And they laid among the stars
Exchanging visions, layin' arms
To waste in the dust
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
Where there were deserts
I saw fountains
Like cream the waters rise
And we strolled there together
With none to laugh or criticize
And the leopard, and the lamb
Lay together truly bound
Well, I was hoping, in my hoping
To recall what I had found
Well I was dreaming in my dreaming
God knows a pure view
As I lay down, into my sleepin'
I commit my dream to you
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
Power to dream, to rule
To wrestle the earth from fools
But it's decreed the people rule
But it's decreed the people rule
Listen
I believe everything we dream
Can come to pass through our union
We can turn the world around
We can turn the earth's revolution
We have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
The power to dream, to rule
To wrestle the earth from fools
Well it's decreed the people rule
But it's decreed the people rule
We have the power
People have the power
We have the power

If you were watching RUclipss from the local NC area you would have seen multiple military helicopters overhead . President Biden sent 1,000 troops in three days ago. I realize that it should be more but this is a dynamic situation and things change constantly so please don't think that this area is being ignored.
Things take time. That's what too many don't understand.
Yes, I'm 25 miles SE of Asheville and i see the copters and have talked to people who have already been helped by FEMA. Monday our city legal non profit is open to help people fill out applications for FEMA assistance.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was getting VERY upset.
It is times like this that not only highlight the need to have a tribe but also reveal who they are.
I agree with you.
100% agree!!
Invaluable information Carol and very good question…Where is our military during these disasters? 🐾🙏🏽
This Administration doesn't care. They are hoping the immigrants replace any Conservatives that can't vote because of the hurricaines
I agree with you Carol they need to stop helping others and start helping our people. No other country is going to help us so why are we helping them? I understand helping people in need but we need to take care of ours first.
Well said. Thank you.
You have a very level head. Good info. I'm not sure how a "tribe" works.
Basically it refers to people in your inner circle who care about you and look out for you and you for them. People who you could travel with in a caravan or even combine resource with. People you absolutely ttust.
A lot of us do not have that. Not sure how to find or create it.
Thats what i worry about my grandparents think its all work and technology but dont realize if natural disaster happens we go back to old age no social media none of the good stuff but everybody thinks its about the dollar when in reality u cant make the dollar without manual labor sooo.....
Helene Hit Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Western North Carolina, Tennessee and bottom of Virginia so where are people going to evacuate to ? I'm 25 mi SE of Asheville NC and had to stay in my apartment. They did take a resident , on oxygen, to a shelter last Saturday but I haven't seen her come back to her apartment yet.
There has been a LOT to complain about in our recent history. It's not by the people, for the people, and of the people anymore. We have lost our humanity, priorities, what this country stood for at one time. Corruption and greed has taken over and that, too, has been "normalized".
@@elainegoad9777 I hope you're alright and that your needs will be met. I'm sorry all you people are suffering.
Im in Central Florida now but have lived in SC, NC, VA, AL, CA. I understand evacuation and common sense!

The further ypu live on country side you really need a tribe
Oh I have an opinion on as to why they are not doing anything, but I can not say it on here to many would get upset about my opinion.

@@janiswilliams2766 So sick of this division. Both parties are corrupt.
@@fluffyfeathers49 certainly one party blatantly lies more than the other and consistently votes against the better interests of their constituents. So I don’t see both parties as the same if that’s what your getting at.
@@janiswilliams2766 Wrong.
It's obvious that you believe what you hear on mainstream media.

But wouldn’t it depend on the type of helicopter? The terrain and the weather?

It does still have to be approved like anything else in the House. As for the equipment it all old stuff we are ever going to use again and it will be disassemble and destroy. FEMA responds after disasters. No human can stop a storm. If we take action on global warming ? storms won't be "as" damaging. If congress did it's job FEMA would have adequate funding ! We could fix the problem.
Yes! Exactly. Roads are completely gone. There's no safe passage to some of the places. They're using mules. I get that people want to help. The government has to consider how dangerous it is for more people to be out.
They are going through rubble so they don't miss anyone.
They can't deploy people during the storm! They're not going to risk MORE lives.

The international humanitarian aide is out of a separate “pot of money.” Not to say that they cannot change the way money is budgeted.
As usual the liberals here have no facts and just want to blame Republicans and Trump when he hasn't been in office for four years.

In the mountains... The us military would be better..but tge slow response is terrrible..typical bureaucracy and departments not talking to each other...president delayed response too
@Kerrischuh8000 I'm right there with you!!!!
Ukraine is not more important than American citizens!
As for illegals . DEPORT!
Yes, I agree.
