Still driving my 2001 xlt escape ...still looks and drives great. One small spot of wheel well rust which at a dime size, i intend to stop and fix myself. I do 90+% of my own work on it and as of now it has 135k miles.
    Some coils and plugs
    Thermostat
    A new radiator
Besides that, regular maintenance has made it last.
Excellent suv and ill drive it til either me or it dies lol

This is a decent vehicle, imo... I'm rolling with an '05 XLT (V6). But with much higher miles - a little over 140K, but it's still running great. Curb weight is about 3500lbs, if I'm not mistaken. MPG is more like 16/20 (not the most economical for a small SUV)... Handling is a little less than a regular car - because it's kinda top-heavy, but it's AWD system is great during the wintertime. It has an old 4-speed transmission but is smooth and quick enough, and imo it looks more rugged than the later generations.

My sister used to have a 2002 Ford Escape in black. I just don’t remembered the trim level was. I used to have a 2015 Ford Escape SE in silver grey. I got it in late March 2017-mid March 2022. It died on me with an oil leak. Now I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black since mid March 2022. When I got it and everything was new to me.

I like this gen Escape, a lot.
I'd drive this in a heart beat.
You have an XLS V6 auto with convenience package, which is interesting, as most had the 2.0 liter and 5 speed manual.
That XLS you have there was renamed XLS Choice in 2002.

Nice review! We have a newer Escape among our cars. No video if it in the channel yet except a cold start one.

i wouldnt say its car based, it has a modified version of the mazda 626/ sable engine and trans. its a unibody small suv with bumper to bumper frame rails. its much more truck than car even though ford marketed it as their "crossover". its actually very comparable to the cherokee xj, excluding the escape's 4wd drive system since the xj has a more advanced system.

I have the 2005 mercury mariner version. Has the 3.0 too and it's a great car! And 4wd gets me through the sand on the beach just fine. 😃

Yo tengo una 2001 XLT 3.0 4x4, asientos de cuero (intactos), sunroof, nada de óxido y ya cumplió más de 160.000 millas.

The vehicle in in Chicago, that's why it's rusted. If it were down south, it would be in perfect condition..
