Great Job,man. Just don’t over tighten the bolts and it will sit even. There is an issue with grease leakage so be careful. Will be also be addressing that too in a follow up video the first week of March.

Yup I actually noticed grease leakage and also the ash tray/draft door gets jammed after the coals start to burn down. Thanks Lew I appreciate the support and the awesome content you create.

Great video man! I have the 2 quart Dutch oven as well and I love that thing! I used it today on my Side burner to deep fry some catfish. It works great for green bean casserole. The new grill looks great too. I was leery at first but it really think Lodge hit it out of the park this time. Keep the videos coming!

Yeah that 2qt pot is very handy with side dishes or small meals. More to come with cast iron content so I hope you guys enjoy
I really like the new Sportsman grill. It's also much cheaper than how much the old ones were going for online.
@ around 4:00, the bottom of the new grill is likely quite flat whereas most tabletops are not usually flat or level.....all this can be alleviated with a simple wedge to shim up the loose corner. i like the larger grill surface, i'm gonna get me one of these new grills..!!.......

I’ll tell you something else I’ve had trouble with is using the seasoning so early in the cooking. Some of them have lots of sugar and it burns real quick. I’ve started waiting to put on spices with lots of sugar until the end.

@@luisj.castironcooking Very nice. I have a Ka-Bar like that….often referred to as a “hobo knife” or picnic knife. (pocket knives and multi-tools….another rabbit hole to try to avoid)
I heard if you close the little side door it will decress the heat, thus allowing less of char. Is this true? Thanks
Update : I did hear you state at the end of the video regarding the "draft door" and how it affects the "char" on the meat. I've heard from others if you keep the draft door closed, the temperature will be reduced as opposed to being open. In the open position, more oxygen will enter causing a hotter charcoal. Just got my grill yesterday 👍 can't wait to use it🙏
The grill plates on my camp chef are cast iron and they really like Grape seed oil.
Grape seed is a great oil and I do like it as well
Does the bottom of the grill get hot? I'd noticed your BBq on a plastic table! Your partchment paper didn't burn (patatos)?
It does get hot. That’s not a plastic table, it’s an aluminum table.
One of the downsides to living in Alaska is the wait on the shipping. And the cost of shipping! Holy!
