DIY BBQ Camp Grill - Forme Industrious

- Every chance I get I head off to the bush in the Campervan for a bit of Big Sky and fresh air. Well nothing beats sitting next to the fire, except when the fire is one that you can cook a meal on. So the idea for making this Camp Grill was borne. (No Plans) This grill can use Wood, or Heat Beads.
This project can be made pretty quickly, Maybe in a day. You do not need to have the metal folder or rod bender. There are numerous ways you can make the bends in the metal.
The Plate Steel is 3mm Mild. The Grill, handles and supports are all made from 10mm Round Bar (Mild Steel).
I used High Temp Matt Black paint on the outside of the steel only. Additionally I gave the grilll a good burn before using for food.
If you are interested in the Sheet Metal Bender. I have made two videos on the build of this tool and also it's modifications.
The Rod Bender is pretty simple, no video sorry, though if enough people ask for a video on building one of these I will do one.

The wife needs to get you a plasma cutter for your next birthday. Great video!
Morning from Texas just before 4am here. Great video to watch before the day job.
4am! I'd still be snoring the shingles off. Thanks!
I wish I was waking up in Texas. I woke up in Minnesota with a wind chill of 32 below. If my freezer got that cold, I would call it broken!
7am in Austin, 30 above! but brrrrrrrrr - Steak briquettes! One of the best descriptions I've heard in a while. Great content Scott - Love the creativity!
@@mindthependulum6245 it's currently 25 degrees here. Texas can't deal with this. 😆
@@papaburf7275 have frozen roads here because we don't know how to prep for this. The person from Minnesota would be laughing at us because everything shutdown over here 😆😆
Form AND function, gotta love that! Simple yet clean and effective design. Nice one! Thanks for sharing!
amazing fabrication and engineering using ancient relevant equipment and techniques building something very worthwhile
Thanks Keith
Well done Mr. Turner. My wife watched this one with me and now she wants me to upgrade and fix my existing barbecue. Haha. Thanks again for all your hard work. Keep 'em coming. Cheers.
Love the grill and wish I had one back when I was camping so much. I can see so many uses for a stove like this one... Great idea and workmanship.....
Great build. Have to watch the snags don't fall through the gaps. Aint a BBQ without snags
Scott fantastic job!!!! Love your teaching work!!!! Good vibes to you friend!!!!!!💪🏻
Always like watching what you're gonna create next Scott!
I love how it's: "I could buy one for less than the price of materials...Nope I'm going to build a much better one AND enjoy doing it!"
That's how I roll, the joy and satisfaction of making something far outweighs the money saved when you buy Store bought things. Thankyou again!
@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious no, thank you! I've also noticed that items made with love or enjoyment or fun are always better looking, even when imperfect, than something out of a factory. It's not simply a design or quality thing either.
And that thing is going to last ten times longer than a store bought one 👍👍
@@Goalsplus exactly. It's the gratification and the enjoyment you get from building something with your hands! And knowing the quality that you can make something even better than one you can buy!👍
@@Everythings_Adjustable exactly. A cheap portable grill from the store might be made with 1mm thick steel if you're lucky and will rust out fairly quickly. The bottoms fall right out of cheap store bought grills.
Missed your videos
Hello from Germany. You did very well again. Your self-made things are just cool.
Please don't stop, do more of this. :-)

Nice job!
👍👍😎👍👍 - even a little char tastes sweet when you fab the cooking vessel yourself.
Wouldn't mind seeing more simple builds. Not all of your products need to be a modern industrial masterpiece.
can't get much more simple than that mate.
Very good, congratulations from Brazil.
Good project, and I learned a couple things.
Thumbs up and thanks for posting!

Much appreciated Steve. Using it this week end camping.
Excellent job Scott, really well made. Love the vice bender, future project for me I think. Cheers, Jon

Really good video. I got some ideas for shop tooling from this video. Thanks!
My pleasure.
Hi Scott! Great grill turned out! By the way, I really liked the design of your welding table and I made one for myself. It has become much more convenient to work! :)
super, merci pour le partage, et bonnes grillades😉👍
Nice build!
Thank you Greg!
Hahaha. Murdered the steak. Great work mate. There are a few projects you have inspired me to do.
It's been murdered twice! Was still pretty good in a chewy sort of way. Thank you!
Over cooked or not those steaks would've tasted beautiful knowing you cooked them on your own barbie that you built. Such finess and skill when you build even the simplest of projects Scott. Great work!
Thank you Dean!

Very nice. We enjoy your videos.
Great to hear, thank you Becky!
Steak briquettes!!! LOL! I feel your pain Scott.
That was a nice, quick, fun project with a great reward at the end. I'll bring the steaks if I ever make it to Australia again.
You'd be welcome! Thanks
👏👍desde Barcelona,fantástico trabajó, como siempre,n1
Well done mate! Let's throw some more shrimp on the barbi!
Nice video...
very good barbie build will try myself in near future , thank you Robert Blue mountains NSW
Thanks Robert! I'm fond of the Blue Mountains. Lived in Richmond and Windsor for years.
Bravo!!
Extreme talent! Nice work, you could probably sell them with no problem. Thanks for the look, BTW, might use charcoal.
Whoa, keep going
Cool grill! I made one about half that size years ago. Welded a tab to the side and clamped in the vise on the back of the service truck. Prefect for one large steak or two burgers at a time. Grill on the go!
That's a great idea!
Your a Master fabricator ,love your stuff ,hope one day to be able to do 1/4 of this and I would be very happy ,thanks

Sympa ce petit barbecue, super costaud, joli travail bravo à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Merci Jeannot! Je suis content d'avoir de tes nouvelles.
I'd still eat them steaks. I'm jealous. We're getting some of the coldest weather of our winter so far tonight. Your grill came out nice. Happy BBQ!
Great work I'm a fan new here but like it
Many thanks!
Wow easy and useful
Un bon petit barbecue pour partir en camping ou de chantier quand ton bricole chez soit près de sont atelier 😊👍
On this side of the planet we do something entirely different when we head to the bush!!! Thanks for sharing Turner.
Top notch Aussie build there Scott, - It is a really great design, Love ya bender machine, - PMSL at 18:25 - "Steak Briquettes" - Thanks mate..!
Haha, the things one does for views (boy did I get in trouble that day for that cook up). Cheers
Good good good 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👍
I think your steak is a lil burnt 😂 great build mate.
I guess now it's time for a big one !!! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Hi Scott, I came over from Pask makes and subscribed. love the camp fire style bar b que.
Very much appreciated Laurie. Neil is a great guy!
beau travail
One suggestion for cutting sheet like that get a hand held circular saw, use a tungsten blade or friction disc, you can the use it as a track saw, works surprisingly well, I have very successfully cut up to 6mm sheet this way with appropriate safety gear
Good idea, and thank you!
Great job, thx.
Thank you!
Nice build. I think I'd drop the grill down another 25 mils or so to create a lip around it. It might prevent accidentally pushing a snag off into the dirt....
I like a good BBQ build video 🔥 👍 😊
*very good channel video, channel fans hello everyone, thanks for the video*
The corn looked awesome, the steaks not so much 🤣 that's a really neat little braai...
Хорошая работа! От меня плюс огромный! ✌️

Интересный минимангальчик получился 👍
Great work as usual, Scotty! (On the metalwork, not the cooking 😁)
I can cook an egg pretty good! Thank you!
Great video Scott! Can I recommend watching Fire to fork on how to cook better over fire
I'm on it! Thanks Peter!
after a long time I can participate again. And again a great project. This is an interesting approach to building a grill. We also have Schaschlick grills in the same size. It is called "Mangal" I will remember your idea for my project. Thank you friend...
Thank you Andrew! All the best!
Süper süper süper 💯💯💯👍
Another nice project, don't think we will be seeing you on master chef , lol .take care look forward to the next one.
Instant ineligibility for Master Chef, but I might get the gig at the Crematorium though. Much appreciated as always!
Cracking job Scott, What can be very handy is to put a removeable shelf under the bbq just above the ground, and you can leave plates, spuds etc in there to keep warm while your burning your steaks. :-)
😆with the price of steak now I cannot afford to buy them anymore so I can just burn the corn and spam. Thanks Merv!

super!
I guess you should bbq steaks on glowing coal instead of flames. Maybe then you won't murder them. ;) Great work and very pleasant to watch!
Super tare Bravooo 👏👏👏👍
Thank you!
Pretty fantastic work, Scott! Really well done! 😃
But hey, have you ever tried Brazilian barbecue? Your grill would be perfect for that!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Haven't tried but sounds like it's worth a go. Thanks!
Well it's good Thursday if we get a little Scotty T. in the RUclips mix! Good one, bro. I'm making something like this for a firepit in the spring (I know it's summer there, but -35C here). Cheers.
-35c eeeeek! We have 35c! Many thanks Rob!
harika! ölçüleri nedir?👌
The corn seems to have turned out well :D
