looks like a bronco.. but, its no 4x4. its a mall cart.. ifs, sensors, computors. crap.. plus, too short w/base, too cramped, too expensive.. garbage. last toyota was the 80 series, & even that, has problems..
This review is bogus. It’s not the Prado (Diesel, Australia, SA, Europe etc) it’s the USA LC 250 Petrol Hybrid version which has the ridiculous battery on the floor of the boot. Also even the old Prado 150 had the option for wheel on tailgate or not (more fuel tank or not) but new Prado 110L tank at less than 8L/100km is plenty. Even with 7 seats the floor is flush as you see in any proper review eg ruclips.net/video/LA0FAxkzebc/видео.htmlsi=L2HADHI-b7F-0zOw
I was excited when I first heard and saw the photos etc of the Prado 250 and was keen to purchase one, UNTIL I found out there was no diff lock on the GXL, the seat issues, the smaller fuel tank, lower ground clearance, PRICE (full Toyota Tax plus extra) and I can go on. The Fortuner, or MUX are now an option. I can put a 50 ltr auxiliary fuel tank on the Fortuner (giving it 130 ltrs) fitted for under $1,000.00 and no ad blue That is still $15,000.00 cheaper new than the 250. The Prado 250 is not worth my hard earned and not practical for Aussie touring (in my humble opinion). Appreciate your video.
AdBlue is 1.20/litre at the bowser. 1 Litre is good for 1000km, sure more gets burnt towing. It’s really not a big deal and definitely not a dealbreaker.
Was considering waiting for a new Prado ( had a 2016 Prado great 4wd but had high kms ) but decided on the 2.8 Troopy when I found out they were coming with an auto. 10 months, 23k kms later couldn't be happier. Just completed 15k WA half lap towing 2.5t hybrid camper, didn't miss a beat on road or off road and twin locked. Stick with your Troopy for towing, the new Prado has half the payload of a stock Troopy.
@@Reflect744 saw a lot of new Fords, Isuzu and yank trucks towed same trip, most were either engine or transmission fails, you just can't beat Toyota reliability in harsh environments, the others are good for short black top trips.
Picked my GXL up exactly a week ago here in NZ. It’s the base model here and all versions (GXL/VX/VXL/Adventure) have 7 seats. The 3rd is bolted in with 8 bolts. First thing I did was rip them out. The seats themselves are heavy but they were remarkably easy to remove. Underneath there is a flimsy fabric piece that covers the battery and inverter. It also works to help direct the airflow with the fan. I made up some brackets and a platform covered in carpet to match the interior. It looks like it’s factory and incredibly sturdy but it does have a similar height to the floor in the US version, still better than the seats. I will keep the seats and replace them before every service and clear the error codes in the system as the seats have occupation sensors.
Id love to see a pic if you have one. Seems like the only logical solution. Mines 2 weeks away but i def dont want third row and evryone is saying what a drama it is ?!
@@johnleepassport I’m just getting the check rear seats notification and I’ve actually stopped noticing it. It’s not intrusive and only when exiting the car.
@ I hear what your saying comments can get carried away, just personally the new Prado isn’t price competitive value for money compared to other makes/models. Do love the looks of the Prados 👍
This video has made me appreciate my pre DPF 200 series Altitude even more. $88k in 2013 was a bargain. I'd be getting the gx 300 if I was you over the Prado toy.
This is a Toyota Australia choice. Other markets (eg EU) have 7 seats as an option on all trims. However, they don’t have the hybrid version yet, just plain diesel. Japan only has 3 trims (GX, VX, ZX), so Australia created the other trims by taking options and making them standard to create new trims. This is a general trend in Australian auto sales, the trims are created to simplify purchasing for Australian consumers, while in EU everything is an option, which is also a bit tedious but gives more flexibility.
I ordered a GXL more than 12 months ago. I received a call from the dealer this week inviting me to make an appointment (which I did) for an inspection of the new Prado next week. From what you have told us in your report regarding the positioning of the 3rd row I’m sure it’s going to be an interesting viewing and could make or break a deal for many.
I was lucky enough to get a look at the Toyota Bulletin 8 months ago and seen the cargo area. I then went and ordered a LC76 GXL straight away and couldn’t be happier.
I’m in New Zealand. We don’t even get the choice of the GX. All of our models are 7 seats. I think Toyota just f****d that one up for NZ. I’ll be waiting for a JDM five seat to come in
@@666dualsportplease put up some links where the 300 are dropping like flies. Yes they have had some dpf issues with the 7th injector. Only failed motor I’m reading about is the bloke that modified his 300 with a cab cut and added a tonne of weight.
Wow, so you want to order a car before it’s released and you are criticising colours etc? Maybe wait till they are out next time. Oh that’s right. You would have to wait, which means less views on your channel and less income to pay for it. Catch 22 isn’t it?
They should bring the petrol model to Australia. Between the complexity of modern diesel engines and the increased power/good fuel economy in a modern petrol i feel like people would want them. Or give us the iForce max engine!
Hello Matt, the 60kgs weight is for the box, you can put max 60kgs inside the box. But seriously it’s a plastic box just to level up the back seat. The second row seat cannot move forward or back either. Have to open the back door to access the door storage. If you have kids and wants to drink from the bottles stored in the door pockets. Park up and open the door to access it.

I had a 150 series Prado and loved it. I now have a 200 series Landcruiser and love it. But I think Toyota is treating its customers like crap with these new models. If I wanted a mid size proper off-roader now I’d probably go a Ford Everest V6. If I wanted a full size one I’d probably get a 300 series and hate the lack of the split tailgate every day. Then again, you can buy a lot of petrol for the difference in price between Y62 Patrol and a 300 series.
I have had a GXL on order since May 2023, and even paid a deposit. Saw the demo model on the weekend. I cannot pay $90k for a vehicle where the boot is so badly designed. The worst part is that there is a huge void between the second row seat and the third row headrests where stuff would disappear into. I am absolutely gutted that Toyota has done this. I was really looking forward to my new vehicle. Also I am in exactly the same quandary as yourself, get a Barry Basic GX or Altitude. I might now go and look at a Ford Everest.
Recommend Everest. Ive been on exactly the same journey. Cancelled Prado order. Just picked up Everest with upgraded suspension, rims/tyres and barwork which still came in $ well under stock, unimproved new Prado. Can only speak to sand, but Everest is actually better than old Prado (which I loved) on road and off. So relieved...just can't possibly justify spending almost as much as a 300 on a vehicle which is not within a universe of a 300, let alone an old Prado. Weird logic by Toyota. Nearly fell for it based on my legacy great experiences...
Cancel the prado and get a 300 GX! We picked ours up from Project Overlander a week ago and couldn't be happier. Doesnt have most of the negatives you talked about in the vid. I do miss the heated seats I had in my 2018 triton though 😂
The 150 Prado has 2 tanks totaling 150 litres. All variants except the GX have a rear-locker. Plenty of owners remove the 3rd row seats and replace them with a false floor - gives you an extra 40+ kg in payload and more height in the rear.
i bought a 4.2tdi s/duty. owned 8 yrs, does everything, goes anywhere. comfy, room to spare. quiet, tows 4.5t no probs. 14 lt 100.. 35'' tires. no computer crap..
Nice looking car - the rear seats / boot area looks horrible though. I have a 300 Sahara & the seats fold flush into the floor. Can't for the life of me see why Toyota would have botched the rear area so badly.
I like the new look of a Prado and the colour. We did think about buying the 2024 model but we went for Ford Everest instead. We need 7 seater 4WD. Thank you for the honest opinion ❤
I looked at a Kakadu in Dusty Bronze, it would be my choice of colour. I looked in the back, I thought all the stuff in there was Toyota accessory boxes, I didn't realise most of it was the folded third row seats. From the driver's seat it has a luxury FJ Cruiser look to it, flat upright windshield, big square mirrors, and lots of straight lines. I run my FJ Cruiser as a 2 seater, I removed the rear seat base so it's a flatter space for my dogs to sit in, they really didn't like getting in and out of the back seats.
Ordered the VX. Went to see the horrible boot situation and had to upgrade to the altitude because we wanted the creature comforts you talked about. Love how Toyota kept the 3rd row seats under wraps until they arrived here😅. Overseas models all have them hidden away flush into the floors.
Yes understand and agree with most of your comments, except for the 300 series. We have an Dusty Bronze Altitude ordered which would have been here if the ship passed quarantine, now its 6 weeks away. To buy an equivalent 300 series I would need to spend another $50k, and I wouldn't be even considering at the bottom spec 300 series as an equivalent. We are happy with our choice and looking forward to the new adventures.
@@peterbrett7000 I agree the altitude is a far nicer car than an entry 300. But as an off road platform the simplicity of the entry 300 might be more appealing. But the Altitude is the pick of the bunch and I think you’ll be very happy with it 👍🏼
My Grenadier has 17 Litre adblue tanks and in the last 12 months/30,000 kms I have used about 25 litres of adblue. Check the load capacity of the 300 series as from what I can see they don't quote a roof load rating. Toyota also don't state if their load ratings are with all fluids and a full or empty fuel tank. The 300 only has a GVM of 3250 and a GCM of 6750. So assume a towball weight of 350 kg and the vehicle weight of 2630 that only gives you 270 kg of load capacity in the entire vehicle. Unless I have done my sums wrong. If that doesn't include the 110 kg of fuel then basic you might have to leave the kids and dog at home. My Grenadier load ratings state 90% fuel tank and all other fluids. I think all manufacturers should do the same.
After seeing one at the dealer the other day, I think they look great - certainly better than in the pictures - but, buying one off the plan, like any all new model really, is asking for problems. Toyota will use these buys to do the final vetting of the engineering. Also, as you say, the third row seats are a mess and leave very little room in the back. Much less than the 150. Define looks good though.
I will stick with my trusty V8 TTD 200 Sahara (pre dpf of course) does everything I need a 4wd to do without worrying about running out of adblue in the middle of nowhere
Agree I have 2013 200 series Altitude since new $88k pre DPF. I've done 185,000 and lots of off road with no issues and still love it like I did the day I drove it out of the dealership.
I ended up getting a 300. Just like you said, bigger engine, roomier interior. I actually want the 7 seats and the Prado's configuration wasn't going to cut it. Really happy with my decision even though in the end it will cost me a bit more.
I test drove 2 of them yesterday and had the same complaints, also the knee room was terrible and my knees where physicaly twisting the center consol near the shifter. The worst problem of all was that every door panel on all 3 was warped from the handle install. Make sure you take a side view in natural light and you will see that every door skin is bent at the front side of the handle.
Having had Landcruisers since 1978, FJ40 swb was the first, then 2 Hj47 troopcarrier,s and for the past 25 years a 78 series troopcarrier which i still have, and i am keeping it with its 300.000 ks. I was looking at the new Prado, as a newer second vehicle, but after some research the new Prado was not for me, add blue etc 48 volt battery as you have pointed out. So i went for a new isuzu Mux 3.0 liter so far agreat car i think for some it could be the way to go, thanks for the video
guys in our 4x4 registered club, both bought mux, there over 60 yr old.. went to w.a from s.a. one broke an engine mount, cost 8k.... 8k.... to replace..
@@harrywalker968 Yes i had heard about the engine mount problem, hopefully this does not happen to the 2024 model , some times it may pay to stick to the old model Toyota,s ,
I agree on your thoughts on the 3rd-row seats. To me it looks like they were designed as an after-thought. No cohesion with the rest of the interior at all. It's the 48-Volt battery system sitting under it, that is taking most of the space. That's why they cannot drop it flush with the floor. I'm interested in the new Prado to replace my daily. I'm opting for the Altitude, but I will not buy sight unseen. I'm waiting until my local dealer have a demo for me to fully scrutinised and test drive. If it doesn't meet my needs, used LC300 GR Sports are coming down in prices.
I didn't want to stump up the coin for the GX either with the compromises that you mentioned. I bought the 2024 double cab SR Hilux instead with the same motor for a touch over 60k with a discount negotiated (try that on a Prado). Obviously a different kind of vehicle but more money left over to mod it to my requirements - eg after market larger fuel tank, suspension etc. I would have still been happy with the Prado and I think you will be too if you go ahead with it.
I’ve been researching vehicles for several months, and the Prado was initially on my list. However, I’ve decided to remove it for a few reasons, particularly the high cost of the 5-seat variant. Given the current competitive market, the price feels excessive, especially as other manufacturers are stepping up their game and offering better value. Your comment about how “putting a sticker on the car voids the warranty” really stood out to me. While I understand it was an exaggeration, it suggests there might be some underlying issues with warranty claims. Toyota certainly has a solid reputation and is benefiting from it, but I genuinely believe they may face challenges in the coming years if they don’t start providing more value for the price.
@@afriquelesud They have become very expensive but selling well in Australia. The Cab Chassis will become extremely popular in Australia. Best option for an overland tourer build. Dealers here have some available.
We getting ripped. The 250 Prado highest end sells for 75 k Aussie in Japan. I was hyped in getting one. Saw my first one yesterday. Look great but just read all the reviews. I’m waiting a few years until we get a better version. Like full hybrid etc.
in a few yrs, EV,s hybrids, will be dead, as they should be now.. they cost more than std cars, to run & produce. . if your worried about being green, or image, the earth has been here a lot... longer than you..
I'm looking into the new 250 Prado as my new daily (not to replace my 80 Series). IMO, despite the shambles of the 3rd-row design, I can see it selling well. Which is bugger for me, as I doubt I'd get a good deal on one. Regarding laws on 3rd-Row seats in NSW, if you remove the seatbelts you'll need to get it engineered. So on my 80 Series, I removed the 3rd row seats but left the seatbelts.
I just read an article that read if the 3rd-row seats were removed, it will only void the warranty for that component (as it wasn't designed as a quick-release component. The rest of the new car warraty will remain valid.
@@OverlandTravellers The article stated “If a customer removes the third-row seats out the 7-seat LandCruiser Prado variant, the warranty will remain valid for all components of the vehicle besides the third-row components,” said a Toyota Australia spokesperson. From this statement, it seems the battery warraty is not impacted by the removal of the 3rd-row seats.
Thanks for posting, have you considered talking to your nearest licensed certifier ? Regarding seat removal .See VSCCS ( in nsw). There are a number of them listed for South West NSW region. We used our local company for rear seat removal.
The current 150 series Prado has a 150 litre tank I’ve read the 60kg limit is just for the cover of the under floor storage bin not the whole load area I’ve pulled the third row out of my 150 and have been told that it’s now technically unroadworthy unless it gets recertified as a 5 seater. I’ll just put the third row back when it’s time to sell it. I think having the spare underneath is a retrograde step because (a) means the fuel tank is smaller (b) reduces ground clearance at the rear and (c) the door mounted spare meant it could be used for a garbage bag and Kaon make some fantastic accessories using the spare wheel as a mount point Overall, I’ll be hanging on to my 150 but I did see a 250 in Bendigo that had a rear door mounted spare - maybe that’s an accessory or options as yet not being discussed. Based on the colour (blue with white roof) I’d say it was an Altitude
I own a 2024 landcruiser prado lc250 & I'm from kuwait.. it's a 2.4 single turbo engine without the hybrid stuff + base model with the rear diff locker and thankfully that means we have the use of the full trunk area + the 3rd row .. by the way I've paid 48,880$ for it (new) from our certified dealer
Hi Matt,l am ln a similar situation to yours,3 days ago I looked at the Prado 250ser. I have a lot of reservations about the Altitude , from outside it looks pretty good there are not many colors to choose from , the front left and rightside windows not darkened like the rear, the door handles and mirrors are black but high gloss but black mat would look better. The sun roof is there but not needed. Inside glow box so small. In the middle console two wery large coffee or bottle holder ,and small electric cooler. No room for any small items as was the big deep dauble container. In the back power point 220-240v only 100W. Floor big step when rear seat folded. Floor mats carpet not rubber ,side steps plastic not for off rd. TPMS not available. It is factory towing attachment but you must buy towing hubs , electric socket with brucket and wiring. Altitude at carrent price should have standard steel side steps ,snocker, bulbar, TPMS, floor rubber mats. Toyota Australia call Altitude of roader but its only with rear lock , all terrain tyres and swaybar dysconection at front. Engine 2.8. L mild hybrid with change for electric motoralternator together ,not room for dual battery system how was it in 150 ser. also 110 l fiuel tank.cuts 40l from last model. I’m off roader for a long time and very disappointed because lve been waiting for this Toyota for a long time.
Coming from a 2011 150 Prado (no ad blue or dpf) and being loaned a new Everest 2.0l bi turbo, you won’t notice the ad blue (lasts ages) and the dpf just gives you a warning on the dash, not even noticeable. I too was worried I would notice it. The third row of seats is a joke to be honest 😂
Remember when we had the ad-blue shortage. If that occurs again, your car is potentially not drivable. The rear weights are completely inconsistent with the way we use them. Not convinced.
Love the look of these and simpler design yet seems like the Lexus may be a better option if save for a few more years. Was looking at them and then bought a mint condition 2005 105 GXL with after market turbo, third of the price, capable, comfy and lov’n it. Confident remote tourer with all the mod cons we need… feel like cars are turning into second homes and the trusty workhorses, like simple caravans, are disappearing… we get what we ask for….👍
Great video, I have been eagerly waiting for the 250 prado, wanting to upgrade from a 2016 150 GLX Manual. The current configuration of the 3rd row is really disapointing and has me considering other options. Spending $90-100k on a VX at this point doesnt seem worth it.
I own a Hilux and a Fortuner we went to the dealer and they had 2 brand new Prados seats were comfy. But apart from that I'll pick a Fortuner over a Prado. I believe now the Fortuner will be a much more popular car as lots of people I spoke to picked a Prado over the Fortuner because of comfort and the flat flooring, plus the bigger tank. But now the new Prado has lots those things you can buy a base model Fortuner with a diff lock for under 60k
Was already planning on keeping my pre-DPF 150 series Prado for aslong as possible, take function over form anyday. Those rear seats are shocking, first I've seen of them. Does the 60kg limit appoy to 5 seat model ls too? Drawers, fridge all loaded up, and 12v/ battery, and you're well over, no good if you can't have the set up you want.
Paying so much and not getting basic features sums up Toyota. We got a RAV4 after covid. Huge wait. Dealers keep the cancelled orders and jack up the price and sell them as “used”
So glad the US didn't get that third row! The 4in (100mm) boot floor in the US spec was bad enough but yours looks to be twice that if not more. We have the same weight restrictions in the US but it is only for the lid of the storage area not the top of the battery.
From what I understand the full hybrid version in the US has the battery at the back, which is why it does not have a third row. The Aus one only has the mild hybrid, the battery is under the drivers/passenger seat I think. Just think where does the battery go in the five seater altitude? None the less, I want a Kakadu but don’t want five seats. I will put my purchase on hold and keep my 22 Kakadu for a few years and see how this all pans out. With some luck they might bring the full hybrid here.
I’ve had LC’s for 25yrs, the 80 series was great, the 105 improved on the 80, my current 200 is mostly an improvement over the 105. But there is zero chance of me buying a 300. The 250 sounds like an even bigger POS than the 300!
if you had a 105, why buy a 200.??.. there not 4x4rs. or dont you do 4x4ing. ?. anything with ifs, is rubbish. they break, bend, no travel. good for bitumen..mate has an 80.. wont buy anything else. cos there junk.. i like my yank 4x4rs. cos they work.. toyotas are very over priced, i just sold an 82 bronco for 25k. cheap.. with solid diffs, 8 stud lockers. with purchase, it cost me 12k all up..winner.. owned 24 yrs.. only replaced 2 ignition coils.. work truck, 4x4, thrashed. still good..
@ outstanding, I’ll take your advice and sell the 200 and buy a 80 series, a +30 year old vehicle. How many km’s do you think is reasonable? Should I be worried about rust, or spare parts availability? Full dealership stamped service history with no owner modifications for the win!
Had three previous models, between a hatred for dealing with Toyota dealerships and their service centre staff, not liking the new look and model and what was already mentioned in this video it was a no brainer to skip this model 😢 and head on over to another manufacturer
I'd wait a few years as there are bound to be bugs to iron out with the DPF, Adblue system, and with the mild hybrid system. My choice would be the GX. Manual cloth seats won't bother me. If you look at 76, 79 series, they are sparse inside, and people love them. For me, less is always better when it comes to off roaders.
I will never touch Toyota again. Toyota have always been very stingy! ... Traditionaly, they give the absolute basics (if you are lucky) The engine issues are a major block. Yes I think the new look is very good. If our daughter wants to bring her Teddy, .. Mmmm have to get it in writing that doing so won't void warranty! LOL But seriously, Toyota have been running on their history and expect everyone to accept anything and bow to the 4 x 4 Lord. ...
I've cancelled my order due to seeing the boot,,,,they added a pallet in the boot,,,, your shopping bags will fall between rear seats so evertime you shop you have to life the 2nd row of seats to get your food,,,,,if you had a baby seat, then even more..........
Remember though the prado and 300 share the same basic chasis and have the same wheel base. Diffs and engines are different obviously. But they are more alike than previous models
The Prado has been out for a while now in NZ. I have seen a couple on the roads. Black doesn't look good. The white looks good but appears to be a Pearl finish. All models are "hybrid" with no off-road editions.
@@fishinbite Im not a fan of Pearl paint so I would go for standard or metallic paints. I think the colour is Frost white and it looked thick but not shiny.
Was very keen initially, so order a Kakadu, but the seating configuration is a show stopper. Considering the Altitude but now also look at the options in similar price bracket. Disappointing that it seems to have so many design flaws.
So Matt, exactly where is the value in this Prado. 100k and it’s wanting. I think Toyota as a whole have lost its‘Toyota Tax’ reputation. At some point purchasers have to weigh up value for money and Brand name.
I put down for the Altitude. I reasoned a better spec for all of the car over the lower specced 300. Bigger engine is good, but the rest of the spec isn't as good. Also, I saw the 250 side-by-side with the 300 yesterday. The 300 is a monster. The 250 is a little monster. On the subject of 'ripping the seats out and getting on with it', if it voids your warranty, it may also void your insurance. Unauthorised modification.
I have a VX on order in Frosted White, absolutely love the car and the dealer has been really good but..... That 3rd row and no rear diff lock on a $95k car is making me reconsider. Car is due in January and honestly not sure what I am going to do.
Wanting to replace my 2008 V6 GXL, I was quite excited, and saw a few driving in Botswana & South Africa in August. The 250 series present well, I love the shape, BUT the 7 seat only in the GXL? A bit of a turn off. The statement of the Altitude being just sly of the $ for a LC300 is also an eye-opener. What do the other people think of the Tank 300? You get a lot of change between a Tank and Prado Altitude?
A solution for the 3rd row now exists and we have a video out about it in our 1500 review which I encourage you to watch.

Stick with your Troopy for towing, the new Prado has half the payload of a stock Troopy.
Wanna hope it didn't miss a beat with that amount of Kms 😬 Still feel the older Toyota's are where the reliability started and will stay
It is all about payload when towing.

Canceled my order last week for a GXL after seeing the boot, the new Prado feels like cost cutting exercise and is no longer valve for money.
The amount of comments I see every time a Toyota is released...and yet they still sell faster than bread. Go figure.

The model designations in Australia are quite silly.
I think not having 5 seats available in the GXL which would be the most popular model is odd.
Adblue is enough for me to run a mile. Also no sunglasses holder 😮

Upwards of $100k and still only get the old 2.8 engine. Can’t see the value here.
Typical Toyota, asking big money just because of the badge. No way are these things worth the money they're asking.
What’s worst is the cost in Aussie dollars for one of these in Japan. We got too much money.

Yea. It’s a big disappointment. Was hyped on getting one. Not now.
Cancel the prado and get a 300 GX! We picked ours up from Project Overlander a week ago and couldn't be happier.
Doesnt have most of the negatives you talked about in the vid. I do miss the heated seats I had in my 2018 triton though 😂
Spot on - had the new Prado on order but changed to a 300 for the reasons you have identified.
The 150 Prado has 2 tanks totaling 150 litres. All variants except the GX have a rear-locker. Plenty of owners remove the 3rd row seats and replace them with a false floor - gives you an extra 40+ kg in payload and more height in the rear.
On top of the already generous 60kg boot load limit. Hooray
Still not the same volume as the GX due to a/c, seatbelt housings & armrests in the space.
@@norbertoberholzner8673 but a reasonable compromise to maintain basic luxuries and rear passenger/dog comfort.

Smaller fuel tank a disappointment. It’s nice to go on a trip and know you can go the extra bit.
Waited a long time to see the new Prado. After a good look at it I went an ordered an Everest.
Nice looking car - the rear seats / boot area looks horrible though. I have a 300 Sahara & the seats fold flush into the floor. Can't for the life of me see why Toyota would have botched the rear area so badly.
Looks like the Toyota Fortuner is a good option compared to the new prado. It even has the same engine and everything.
It's like the US 6th gen 4runner. It has a lot nicer looks and is more offroad orientated but is cheaper. But is the same car underneath.
Part time 👎
I like the new look of a Prado and the colour. We did think about buying the 2024 model but we went for Ford Everest instead. We need 7 seater 4WD. Thank you for the honest opinion ❤
its too short & ifs, to be a good 4x4..
I wanted one, but I think I’ll stick with my 150 GXL after hearing your story. If I do upgrade will definitely go for the 300.
I've done 185,000 and lots of off road with no issues and still love it like I did the day I drove it out of the dealership.
add blue, is piss. just piss in the tank..
I initially had a GXL on order and cancelled when I saw the rear boot. Managed to upgrade to an Altitude for only $12k more than the GXL.
I ended up getting a 300. Just like you said, bigger engine, roomier interior. I actually want the 7 seats and the Prado's configuration wasn't going to cut it. Really happy with my decision even though in the end it will cost me a bit more.
I did exactly the same
Spot on on my opinion. Smartest thing to do is buy the basic car and personalised it. Just like a troopy
Hey, we had the third row removed from our 300 it was super easy and didnt cost much. All legally done through our DoT.

I have seen my Altitude, but haven't driven it yet of course. I really like it, but worried by 660kg payload and the tiny engine.
100 percent correct, definitely no 3rd row seats. I think your spot on with 300 call.
Was going to order one but I’m holding off. Will either go with something else or just wait and see how the 250 is received first.

@@HammerRocks that’s great to know! What about the battery underneath?

Thanks for your insight, that's a terrible design with the 3rd row. I like the new Prado but it sounds like the models need some more refinement
The current 150 series Prado has a 150 litre tank
I’ve read the 60kg limit is just for the cover of the under floor storage bin not the whole load area
I’ve pulled the third row out of my 150 and have been told that it’s now technically unroadworthy unless it gets recertified as a 5 seater. I’ll just put the third row back when it’s time to sell it.
I think having the spare underneath is a retrograde step because (a) means the fuel tank is smaller (b) reduces ground clearance at the rear and (c) the door mounted spare meant it could be used for a garbage bag and Kaon make some fantastic accessories using the spare wheel as a mount point
Overall, I’ll be hanging on to my 150 but I did see a 250 in Bendigo that had a rear door mounted spare - maybe that’s an accessory or options as yet not being discussed.

Considered the New Prado, Went with the Everest In stead. Great deals at the moment on the Trend plus option packs.
Makes glad to have kept my classic 2009 Defender.

When looking into the market you will see this car overpriced, too
Great video, I have been eagerly waiting for the 250 prado, wanting to upgrade from a 2016 150 GLX Manual.

@ outstanding, I’ll take your advice and sell the 200 and buy a 80 series, a +30 year old vehicle. How many km’s do you think is reasonable? Should I be worried about rust, or spare parts availability? Full dealership stamped service history with no owner modifications for the win!
My guess is the buying demographic was families who needed a shopping trolley and school run vehicle and this model primarily targets that group.
I have seen my Altitude, but haven't driven it yet of course. I really like it, but worried by 660kg payload and the tiny engine
I think price comparison of Altitude needs to be done against GR to be fair - which is a bit different to $103 vs $104

Yup canceled mine as well brought a MUX LS-T more value for money and only had to wait 2 weeks vs 2 Years and 20K cheaper
glad I bought a new 200 in 2019 payed less than 100k its the best. I tow a 3.2 ton off road van no problems
All models are "hybrid" with no off-road editions.
does the pearl look good or would glacier white look better?
@@fishinbite Im not a fan of Pearl paint so I would go for standard or metallic paints. I think the colour is Frost white and it looked thick but not shiny.
Was very keen initially, so order a Kakadu, but the seating configuration is a show stopper. Considering the Altitude but now also look at the options in similar price bracket. Disappointing that it seems to have so many design flaws.
@@maabs9337 I’d definitely go for a drive in one and test it out. They are still an amazing car
Losing height in the cargo area is the killer for me. I can fit 2 mountain bikes in my current car now.
All true bro, I'm keeping my 23 vx model
What colour is your New 300 going to be? 😅
