The Prado took forever to release in Australia with its release even being delayed from original date and yet they still released it with an awful 3rd row/boot layout. People shouldn’t have to pay even more to have it deleted and cleaned up, this should have come from Toyota from the get go.
I definitely don’t blame people for the disappointment in the 3rd row. It’s crazy to me that the largest car company in the world thought it would be ok or someone ticked it off and a small Aussie business had a solution made within 2 days of the release in Aus.
Good update. Thanks for sharing. As per my previous comment, an article I recently read stated the following "“If a customer removes the third-row seats out the 7-seat LandCruiser Prado variant, the warranty will remain valid for all components of the vehicle besides the third-row components,” said a Toyota Australia spokesperson." From this statement, it seems only the 3rd-row seat will be impacted by the warranty if removed. The article was from Car Expert website.
How about for registration purposes? A video I watched a while back said that the seat belts had to be made non functional and the vehicle re registered for the lesser number of seats when the rear seats were removed. Seems pretty daft that they don't offer variations for something as simple as this tbh.
In most states if the 3rd row is removed the compliance plate will now be invalid, no longer a 7 seat vehicle, would certainly need a new compliance plate. If unsure I’d be checking with the relevant state transport department. Certainly don’t want an excuse for an insurance company to reject a claim.
Removing the 3rd row seats seems a no brainer. I hope Toyota doesn't play games with the vehicle's warranty. It strikes me as a tad ridiculous that I'd have to spend several grand on a brand new car to get what I wanted in the first place. These cars are not cheap to begin with so having to undertake aftermarket mods before I set off anywhere is anathema to me. Safe travels and congrats on another great episode.

i went to have a look at the seven seat VX yesterday.... sat in the front seat and it was fantastic.... feel of the new seats and comfort was great. asked to see the boot and the salesman apologised.... after opening up the rear door i could see why. the gaps between the seats and storage box are cavernous (7 seat)..... you could lose a small animal down there, (it is literally open) you can cover it with a rubber mat.... like my current GDJ150 (later shape). difference is the mat in my VX is for catching crap and saving the wear on the floor... in the new 250 it could be for covering up a turd which is the 22cm deep well that is the rear seats design. for a car that costs over $90k for the variant we were looking at... it was a 7 step walk away from the 7 seat versions for mine. such a shame for a aesthetically pleasing vehicle for the most part.

The old plain Toyota white as you call it, is still available, called glacier white, it’s a no cost option only on GX, GXL and Altitude. For those who will be keeping the vehicle outside 24/7 and not be washing the vehicle for at least 12 times a year and plan to keep the vehicle for 10 plus years, then glacier white is the best colour to get, for long term durability. Simply because it’s the only colour that doesn’t have a clear coat. Glacier white (a solid colour due to not having metallic flakes) might not look as premium as frosted white when new, but clear coat colours which all colour choices for Prado are except glacier white, when left outside 24/7, having less than 12 washes a year after about 10 plus years, will show signs that their clear coats are starting to deteriorate. When metallic paints start deteriorating, the clear coat will start pealing and look very second hand and not so premium looking, far from it. I begged Toyota years ago to keep glacier white for this generation Prado, due to being a colour without that rotten clear coat and thank god they listen.

Comparing a ford everast against a Toyota prado haa haa 😅 no comparison seriously Toyota all the way , id rather have a coralla than a yanky crap ford 😊
The big question mark is how long is this engine is going to last? Toyota engines ain’t what they use to be.
@@biglap.australia the 2.8’s are pretty good. They have ironed out a few of the early issues. I have a family member with a 2017 Hilux with a 2.8 with over 300 thousand and it’s only ever been serviced not a single issue with it. It’s used as a work ute.
@@OverlandTravellers2017 they were ok. The engines built in the past 4 years are ones having issues.
@@biglap.australiaah right. What problems have the ones made in the last 4 years had?
