Now we need "Blackhole Sun" made by AIC
Great, great job
This
Yes! I already hear it in my head
Holy shit yes
You're onto something
YES!!!
Love how u made Cornell’s voice more uplifting and less depressing than laynes. Very accurate
Layne sounded like a restless spirit
THATS WHY WE LIKE IT.
Layne’s voice is a huge part of their sound. It was real. He was such a talented guy, and the dope took him down. His voice and lyrics reflected where he was at the time.
It's an interesting analogy. Layne had hungry ghost vibes at times. Makes sense.
I feel like Soundgarden had Gnostic vibes at times.
It's mostly due to the different chords this guy is using, especially on the chorus. More majors.
Cornell was not more uplifting and less depressing, he was angrier and more cynical towards life lol. Not being an ass just giving my 2 cents since that's exactly how I feel and why I love his music
This is absolutely mind blowing hearing the chorus against a totally different melody - a melody that encapsulates the spirit of Soundgarden beautifully. RIP Chris and Layne.
Yes!!.... That chorus could have been straight off of a 'Down on the Upside' tune.... Very clever.
Same thing I was going to say man, he really nailed changing the melody to something like what Chris would have done. This is going far beyond just doing of cover of a song with just a different singing style, this is a *full* treatment on the song and I don't think a lot of people will fully appreciate the level of musicianship here.
Alice in Chains and Soundgarden were the two greatest bands to come out the 90s Seattle scene.
True
What about Pearl Jam
@@jessemariner7591 and Nirvana
@@amundaahh9473 should’ve stopped at and
@@Bluntula yeah no
What about if Alice in Chains wrote Spoonman?!
Spoonman in the Box?
Man in the spoon
And then is sound garden did sick man
Spoon in the drawer?!??!
Man in the rusty cage
That final dissonant note on "back then" is genius.
Very Soundgarden for sure
I was thinking that! That's such a spot on Soundgarden move, it's an inspired addition to the cover
really solidified that this is supposed to a melody written by Chris Cornell. he was so weird in all the best ways
I noticed that too!
Im not sure if its dissonant, he has just added a lot of vibrato
Mind blowing 2:28 the "am I wrong?" part, omg, seemed like Chris were here again, you really put Soundgarden essence in it
Love the super accurate depiction of Soundgarden during the Down on the Upside era. It's like mixing Would with Burden in my Hand.
This is so amazing, i love grunge 🖤🔥
How is this guy even remotely real?? You remade one of the best grunge songs in the style of one of the best grunge bands and you absolutely nailed it! Kudos
Thanks mate!
I massively second that!! Your a beast Steveo!! \m/
That first “into the flood again” is VERY SOUNDGARDEN. Your riff also reminds me of spoonman a bit. Great cover.
Thank you! Spoonman was one I paid close attention to for adding that SG feel and to help navigate the vibe I was going for :)
Would? You Save Me Spoonman.
Right? I got mad chills.
That part reminds me of "Burden in my hand". Nice. 🔥
For that moment it felt like Chris was back for a second
Your Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland and Layne Staley are spot on.
I also like your attention to engineering. The AIC version is much heavier on reverb, giving it this darker dungeon sound, but this drier sound sound much more like Soundgarden Super unknown era. I think it might have also been the time/era. A lot of the grunge artists records from 1992/1993 and before have lots of reverb sound to them. I guess that was more the style back then coming out of the 80s whether it was Michael Jackson or arena rock production had that washy sound, where as later records from those grunge groups started to drop it in favor of warmer sounds and production. So I actually appreciate the playing, engineering changes too to really make it a different version.
Thank you! I put a lot of effort into those finer details that usually go unnoticed. I’m no pro but I try make the mix as accurate as I can and I’m glad they came through to you.
Thanks for listening 😎⚡️
A man of great talent!
Thank you!!
@@stevewelsh__ to me this really hit home as someone who grew up in Seattle my cousin knew Chris personally and went fishing with him on the weekends you sound amazing.
Indeed
This man is too powerful for his own good
Haha thanks!! Maybe I’ll go lift some rocks on Dagobah? 😎

@@stevewelsh__ and now you can't get that sound and image out of your head... the force is strong
God damn. That chorus melody is pure Soundgarden.
That chorus is pure, uncut mid-1990s Soundgarden. Perfect
I listen to Alice in chains and Soundgarden so much that this sort of melted my brain. It was just so well studied, it's fascinating.
In a parallel universe maybe Cornell sang this. Him and Staley are alive and well in that parallel dimension too.
Melted brain, yes.
Yes, yes, a thousand times YES!!!! I love the idea of Chris and Layne alive and well rocking their hearts out together somewhere! 🖤
Hahahah exactly a parallel universe! I feel like i woke up in a parallel universe!!
A universe where Layne and Chris were healthy and happy.
Brilliance
Forgetting all these remake songs for a minute. I mean yes, they are all really f*cking good, but for me, the real treat is listening to Steve sing. Steve Welsh has got to be one of the best vocalist out there right now. This guy deserves a hit album and huge run at making music for the masses.
Hey thanks so much Dan! I loved reading that. My bands album is going pretty well so far! open.spotify.com/album/4SxK0lHC7CGK1y7e69s0eK?si=HKX-KjUrSFWHZ5h8fSKylw
I have some more exciting news to announce soon 😎✨
I'm astonished how accurate that is to how Chris Cornell sings
god damn the vocals are accurate
Thank you :)
Yes he nails it!
man, not only vocals, the whole arrangement is dead on point, lacks Thayil’s trademark solo thou
@@jeyi3224 ye he can, check out the 12 different bands perform dirt vid, he does layne really well
Even changed up the vocal harmonies majorly, way more Chris-sounding than Layne/Jer. The choice to let some parts resolve on a major chord where AiC keeps everything minor = on point! So good! Great job, Steve!
holy shit mang.... never heard anybody remotely nail chris's voice down. you are the damn closest ive discovered. may the rock gods bless you greatly
I guess you haven't heard of Ritchie Kotzen then. 🤔
If I had a time machine, I'd burn this on a CD and then head back to 30 years ago - then pop it in the stereo an hour or so into one of our house parties just to watch my drunk pals flip out. 😂
You nailed the Chris wail perfectly. This whole thing was perfect
Thanks so much!
Bro any chance you could do "If Alice in Chains wrote Fell on Black Days"
Or crowbar version
AiC doing that song would be sick. Perfect vibe.
@@stopglobalswarming Crowbar doing "Fell on Black Days" would be fuckin awesome, too. Good call.

Oh yes please!!
Layne and Chris would be SO FUCKING PROUD OF THIS.

Actually laughed out loud at this!
you introduced me to sound garden, and i’m eternally grateful
Yes!!!! You’re welcome! 😎😎
How are you enjoying this Soundgarden and grunge adventure? Soundgarden are great and other grunge bands like Mother Love Bone are amazing.
😯
Dude I'm extremely jealous, hearing them for the first time again would be unreal
If Soundgarden's 'Badmotorfinger' were performed by 12 different bands?????
I’ll admit I’ve thought of doing it more than once!
I would really like to see Room A Thousand Years Wide in the style of any other band

I swore I read “if Spongebob’s” haha

Ain't that simple my brother
Especially the chorus is spot-on.
UNREAL. Actual chills when the chorus part hit.
Dude I mean this 100%, I have been looking for something actually musically entertaining on yt for years, and I have finally found it. Great ear, and all other musical aspects. Awesome job man.
Thank you so much !! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@stevewelsh__ Thank you for taking the time to reply to fans, keep it up, man!
Wow. I just.....wow.
How you managed to capture the essence of both AiC and Soundgarden so accurately is uncanny.
I swear this guy is a multidimensional traveler, he connects with the souls of these artists and successfully amalgamates them into unforgettable pieces.
How is it... what are the chances that I searched "soundgarden - would" on a random sleep-deprived whim on the exact same date in 2021 that you uploaded this, which is ALSO the day before my 26th birthday? Not sure what it means but props on the brilliant execution and much thanks for the heaviest birthday present ever.
Haha!! What an unlikely sequence of events! Thanks for watching dude and HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY!!! 🤘🏻🎉🥳
You know what the heaviest BD present is?
NOTHING
I was skeptical at first but you absolutely nailed the Superunknown / Down on the Upside vibe in this interpretation. Like the "into the flood again" part is very DOTU, gave me chills hearing that part. I suppose the only thing you're missing is some of the crazy guitar leads Kim usually uses, but I'm really impressed.
You're an awesome wailer too, would love to hear more Soundgarden covers.
Thanks so much!! Definitely keen to do more in the future, I have some audioslave planned too :)
@@stevewelsh__ all my favourite Chris songs are about suicide... And that's before he did it. I'd request my favourites, but I know sometimes music can push people over the edge. But my absolute favourite goes E G slide up an octave. F# D. Musicians who love Soundgarden will know which song that is.
@David Roberts been out of the music/instrument game a while, what song is it?

The fact that you don’t have millions of subs is a crime against humanity. Or at the very least, against the RUclips community.
Combining the 2 greatest Seattle bands into one sound....
MIND BLOWN!!🤯
Amazing dude. I can’t get over how well you emulate Chris’ voice and his overall style too. The arrangement is perfect too in my humble opinion, has that weird dreamy vibe a lot of soundgarden’s songs have
Thanks so much! I really tried to dial in a bunch of vocal/musical nuances I’d heard in other SG stuff so I’m glad it’s more or less hitting the mark for most who watch this :)
Jerry needs to hear this!
C'mon how it is possible to dislike it?
I mean the verse is already spot on; then the chorus kicks in and shows perfect chimera; simply, astoundingly, sensual.
For me is ten out of ten!
Hats off, man...
How peculiar this showed up on a day when I was listening to nothing but Soundgarden CDs the whole day.
Google is listening 👀👂🏻
As a big fan of both bands, THIS IS AMAZING
Vocalist killing that Cornell vibrato and highs!
That's absolutely wild. Prior to hearing it, I could not imagine it. After hearing this... yeah, that's pretty much dead on.
Sounds good. I feel that Matt Cameron’s influence is understated in the drums.
Dont get me wrong, I love this, however after listening to this I have grown a fonder appreciation for the original. Jerry Cantrell’s guitar playing and tone, and pacing of the song really bring out the depth of this piece. May Chris Cornell and Layne Staley rest in peace.
rather „get me wrong„ eg. by fnm
Not to mention the chilling harmonies between Layne and Cantrell
RIP Mike Starr too
I am agreeing this but I can't leave a thumbs up because at present your comment has 69 likes.
GreatKevoski...I agree.
This has been on repeat lately. Incredible impression of Chris Cornell. This legit would be in my top 5 sound garden songs
i really appreciate that, thank you!
If “Fell on Black Days” and “Would” gave birth to a new son-g.
Imagining that soundgarden actually did write this in an alternate universe and wondering which reality I’d prefer
Would? was written as a tribute to Andrew Wood; Chris Cornell's tribute to the man was Say Hello to Heaven.
This is seriously my favorite song right now.
Holy fuck I was shocked when you started singing. If I heard this without seeing the video Id be like "Damn soundgarden covered would? ??"
Haha thank you!!
Very appropriate to do a Soundgarden version of this seeing as Cantrell and Cornell were both good friends of Andrew Wood.
This is unreal. I‘ve been a Soundgarden super fan since Louder Than Love came out and you 100% nailed it. Much love and thanx from Germany.
Holy shit! That really is Soundgarden playing an Alice In Chains song!!
Insanely good! This is goin’ on repeat. Absolute masterpiece!
Thanks man!! 😎
This guy is a fucking genius. Plus he can sing like Chris Cornell. And a bunch of other people. In awe.
This is absolutely incredible!
My top two 90s bands....thanks for turning me on to my new drug of choice! 🎶🎶😎🤘🏼
This is INSANE from vocal inflections Chris would have, down to the drum tones Matt Cameron uses. Incredible work!
Awesome! You definitely nailed the Soundgarden “off kilter” feel.
There's so much talent here. Reinterpreting one band's song in another band's style is one thing, but absolutely nailing it like this is beyond impressive. Liked and subbed.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the video is really well edited too
I have listened to this more times than i can count. AIC is one of my favorite bands ever. You somehow managed to take an already great song and make it better. The chorus hook is sooo good. Bravo!!!!
Damn dude, that's really a unique concept. Do more! Great voice!
Thanks! Definitely trying to make the time to do them :)
I mean if soundgarden ever wanted to get back together I think they found a singer 😳😳 this is legit.
Chris Cornell is not an easy voice to pull off. Dude had such range, but you did it well. Considering he’s my favorite singer, great job!
This is so accurate can’t deny it fr. The intro, verses, refrains everything very Soundgarden but would
The bridge tooooo omg love it
a Kim Thayil type solo somewhere would've been perfect
Honestly would be tough to pull off well unless you are Kim haha
With lots of wah pedal
I'm so glad you actually did this!
I would also love to hear a full STP- Angry Chair version!
Dude this is so accurate DON’T STOP MAKING VID LIKE THESE
Dude, that was amazing! Similar bands with very different singers. You nailed it! Sounded better than I thought it would
This actually tugs at my heart. So beautiful.
If the rest of the members will do a tribute concert in the future they need this guy
Jesus, why is this so... Correct?
I wish they were both alive to hear this 😢
It's amazing how many different Soundgarden eras are compressed into one song. Badmotorfinger, Down on the upside and King Animal are the most obvious to me.
Very cool! Chorus reminds me of The Day I Tried To Live, can you do a reverse one? If AIC wrote The Day I Tried To Live
Thanks! I’ll add it to the ideas list!
Such a fucking goood song
Yes please!
This is why AI will never replace musicians. Nothing a robot makes will ever rock this fucking hard.
Goddam that chorus pumps me up just like Soundgarden does. That flat five is so heavy ... great, great, great choice.
I am so glad this showed up in my recommendations. That was excellent. RIP Chris and Layne
This breaks my brain in a good way.

My two favorite bands from that era. This is god damn magical. Sir, you are a skilled individual and then some.
Still my favorite video of yours! Always love to come back here haha
so accurate i almost forgot this wasn’t actually soundgarden playing it
Wow this is dope AF thanks for paying tribute to my most favorite Seattle bands
Literally the best thing I've ever seen. You must do Dirt in it's entirety.
It sounds like a crossover between Dirt and Superunknown. Fantastic job !
This is impressive as hell.
Dude, everything I expected and much more. This is my new favorite song!
That was amazingly accurate. Damn good cover.
Thank you :)
i was not ready for this level of specificity on youtube, wow
This was actually shockingly good.
I'm actually really impressed. Got that scene mish mash down. Makes me sad and happy at the same time. Saw Soundgarden, never got a chance with Layne though. Edit, saw Layne play with Tool in Silverdale but did not know at the time.
bro this is so fucking accurate im so fucking addicted i love you
Love Soundgarden, love your work 😎
This is so insanely good! Your channel is pure gold!
That was kickass dude. You seriously deserve some more recognition.
WHY IS THIS SO GOOD.
This was mesmerizing 🤩
I can remember like it was yesterday the first time I ever heard Soundgarden and Nirvana. I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing, time of day, and exactly how electric it was to me. I was transfixed by bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden.
I was into SG before any of the other ones. Probably 1988 or so,but in the end loved the big four Seattle bands, plus the not so famous one's. They all left us waaaay too soon.
