    Great video Josh, love the fact that first e-clip flew like 90% of the times and became part of that other dimension.

    I use a similar technique when assembling my shocks. As well, I use a small dowel, cut to size, that I insert in the shock and then install the cap - this keeps the shaft from moving up and down during assembly and only takes a few extra seconds. 👍

    I always try to do c-clips and things like that inside a pillowcase cover, saves hours looking for them on the floor, .... granted wouldn't be ideal for filming

      I like snap rings too but they definitely aren't as user friendly to the general consumers since they require special tools. Thats why these shocks come with the lower cartridge pre-assembled.

    I had a heck of a time getting collar to thread on properly. It would go straight then want to skip.

    Josh, could you please point me towards any aluminum, adjustable spring collar, that will fit the stock SC8E shocks on the VS4-10 portal shocks?

    Another informative video. Thx. Any news when the straight axled Phoenix is going to drop?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 года назад

      No straight axle Phoenix is announced. The Phoenix Portal is brand new, so there will not be another release any time soon.

    Is it just me or is Josh using dental picks? Lol creative

    • @HarleyDesignsInc

      You can get a pack of 6-8 different styles on Amazon for just a few bucks. They are larger than dental tools, and can be very handy for RC.

    Is 30 weight a good weight for these shocks/ rig? I just got this kit and haven't built the shocks yet. Love the channel, man!

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 года назад

      30 is great if you like to drive slow and technical. If you drive with more speed, I like to go up to 60-80.

    Any word on a restock of the Phoenix?

  • @jerryvolpini7987

    Ideally, all manufacturers should be using small screws to hold the piston on the shaft, then no need for e-clips! And, c-clips, just use a threaded cap and no need for them, either! 👍

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 года назад +1

      Threaded lower cartridges take up more space is all, so this style is used for maximum shock stroke and consistent compression on the lower seals. Lots of different schools of thought in shock design for sure.

  • @billderas3420
    @billderas3420 2 года назад

    Oops! I put the shock pistons in up-side-down. But, they were still working very well. Will need to fix that. Did I do that on my Pro build too? Dang!

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 года назад +1

      It’s not critical at all, just moves the support as far up as possible. Not worth pulling the shaft thru the seals to fix.

    Where are the rubber o-rings in the kit? I didn’t see that part in the instructions either. Mine leak like crazy and now I know why . Thought this kit was perfect but see they’re are things missing. You’d think if you spend that much $$ everything would be included

    Are these shocks available for purchase on the vanquish site? I did some searching and looks like only the older version is available on the site. its hard to find shocks with a bleed hole in cap.

    Mine leak so bad right out of the box, tried rebuilding and they still are wet after every run. Not sure what the issue is since people rave about these shocks but I had to take them off my Phoenix because of how bad they leaked.
