I recently saw a video where the guy installed the shaft in the body and then installed the lubed seals in the body over the shaft. That way you never run sharp threads over compressed orings.
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve never been good at putting shocks together but after watching this I got it down. Can’t express my gratitude enough on this one 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
@@crawlersncustoms I hope you do too. I’ll be checking your profile every time I have a rc problem. Honestly this video was what made things click for me so thank you again, your knowledge is greatly appreciated!
Heads-up...delux assembles them for $10 per pair. I just ordered them assembled because I have xl hands as well and didn't want to chance losing anything. I think I will build my next set, but nice to have the option.
Personally, I’ve had expensive Pitbull shocks, had spent $200 on two pairs of shocks so I thought for $80 for the Dravtechs was a bargain! For me, they’re the best performing shocks I’ve ever had and I own two crawlers that are sporting them. I prefer them on my technical trucks that can creep slow up rocks and terrain! I’ve had ProLine scalers, Vanquish S8E, Incision and Axial scx10 3 shocks. I find that since Dravtechs are based off Traxxsas big bore design, they really are the best shocks out there and provide the most supple movement. Shocks. Well worth the money when you’re ordering them you can get them in multiple colors. You can get them in two different colors for the body and caps and spring cups on the same shock so you can get them to match the theme of your trucks paint scheme. The Traxxas rebuild seals and clips kit part #2362 are only about $5 to $6 dollars per pair of shocks when needed so this is a great option to rebuild on your own!
I watch this video every time I build set delux shocks man they are worth every penny that’s for sure I love mine just got two more sets ! Looking get every rig outfitted with them! 😊
I would insert the rod into the shock body first. Than run o-rings and spacers through the shock shaft. Just to avoid damaging the seals from the threads of the rod. How would I setup for full droop? Thanks for the video.
That’s likely a better way. Sometimes I turn them while installing but I’ll try that next time. With soft springs on portal rigs I’m usually fully bottomed out/droop to compensate for the added height from the portals.
@@crawlersncustoms Are you to owner of the brand? I went to purchase them but they are out of stock on the colors I prefer (Black, gun metal and silver). I hear alot of good things about them. I guess I will wait. Thanks for the reply and informative video.
You don’t want fast rebound on crawler shocks to begin with! 👍🏼 Besides by the time you install them to the vehicle and have the gravity of your rigs axles and wheel weight, the shock travel speed would be much quicker than with the shock by itself!
Very informative video, props to you. However, from my experience, the cons out weigh the pros for these shocks for what they cost. Poor customer support: I've sent many emails for support and weeks for one response about a missing C-clip from the package set that I bought. I asked for a replacement, no response, I wanted a refund got no response. I gave up and custom made a C-clip to fit because its difficult to find the special C-Clip they use. Oil leaks from threads on all shocks (poor design flaw) and probably not engineered or threaded by a professional shop that understands tolerances or thread pitch. I gave these guys a shot with my own money but will buy another brand.
so to change springs you have to unscrew the rod end, theres no thread preload collar, they use a snap ring instead of a screw on cap and theres no bleed screw or even hole. any adjustment you want to make is so much harder and time consuming than every other shock i have ever seen. combine the pain in the ass with adjustment/tuning with the assembly process and its a shock with some extremely stupid designs. why the hell are these so popular?

That is how Dlux assembled his
This is the best shock building video on RUclips.
Thanks!
Thanks for doing this video. Now I’ll build my own.👍

I would really have a hard time doing this with my big hands do you guys offer them assembled already?
It can be tough! But this is not a product we design or sell so no plans to offer assembled units.

Excellent video! My only suggestion is to fill the shocks before adding the springs, I find it easier (but your method is good as well).

Glad it helped!

Great video! What’s the make on your electric driver in this video?!? The (Blue/black one). Thank you very much🤙🏼

@@miniboom007 hi thx. No we are not the owner.
Are these the same as the Yraxxas big bore shocks just pretty
Similar but not the same.
They are pretty much the same with different rodends 😎
What are you using for the c clips. The tool I have is way to big for those super small clips.
CHannel Lock 926
Hey does this apply to all internal spring shocks ?
I would say probably not since those internal spring shocks do not use diaphragm seals as far as I’ve seen.
Great tutorial but the green slime caused a ton of stiction it seems.
Thx. Green slime has been my go to for a long time. I haven’t seen it add stiction and seems to help long term reducing leaks/wear.
Pick up the Protek premier blue grease. Much smoother than green slime.
had to order loads more rubber boots. impossible to get on and when you do they all feel different. what why!!!
The caps can be a little tricky. But the feel should be the same across all of them.
@@crawlersncustoms thanks i think i need leave shocks longer for air to go and not push down as much on shock. cheers i will try again
What drill is that?
No answer yet?
Sorry for the delay! Sometimes I don't see all of these messages.

27:58 why the hell is the rebound so slow? your using very thin oil.
Very soft springs.

Because they work well and the low stack height.
@@crawlersncustoms i feel like i know what stack height is but tell me anyways and what so great about that?
🥰🤩💥💯👍👏
