Saw your video and decided to try this! I don't have quest bars, but I tried this with IQ bars. It took a little longer for the bar to harden after taking it out of the microwave, but the texture is similar- not as dense as the regular bar. **IQ BAR, Almond chocolate chip**- longer to harden, tastes like a soft batch chocolate chip cookie. tasty! (Thanks for the idea!)
I cut the bar into 8 pieces as well. I bake them in my toaster oven @ 350 for about 10 minutes. They get crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Game changer!!

I learned that hack from Highfalutin' low carb. I works great. Wes, the keto twins, and you are the channels I follow. They do a great job of referring back to the original author for exact recipes, which really support other creators. I LOVE the honest reviews about the recipes as some have very specific ingredients that I don't have on hand. I don't want to waste money on buying things that just don't work out. I understand creators plugging their content, but an independent review is needed for me to spend money gathering the required ingredients.

I made these with the Smore Quest Bars and love them! I didn’t have a metal press and the bar was too hard for me to flatten. I microwaved the rectangle cut pieces enough to warm and soften them. I was then able to press them into a round cookie shape with my fingers. I gave them another 20 seconds to finish off. YUM!!! Look forward to trying other Quest bar flavors. This is a keeper!
I have never tried pressing the bars into cookies, but I remember when Quest first came out years ago and the company themselves recommended microwaving the bars a few seconds, so thats the way I have always eaten them. Every flavor. So yummy. I'm going to have to try the cookie hack too now because I already know I'll love them!
When I'm in a hurry, usually on my way out the door, ripping open a Quest bar, putting it on a 9" parchment circle and throwing it in the microwave for no more 30 seconds has been a LIFESAVER! When the timer rings I simply fold the parchment around the bar and stick it in my pocket. I'll eat it in the car and besides functioning as a meal, sometimes I'll eat it on the way to do grocery shopping- nothing derails a diet like being hungry in the supermarket. That said, if you don't eat it while its warm, and it gets cold it will harden up again but microwaving again will soften it up again. I've tried this with EVERY flavor of Quest bar and it improves the texture across the board. I personally don't like the Cookies and Cream flavor bar. I often meet friends at a coffee shop so I'll have a bar in the car on the way so I don't get tempted by the pastries. I've been doing keto for almost 1yr and am down 60lbs. I consider these bars as tools to help me suceed. They do 'scratch the itch' for sweets. The Double Chocolate Brownie does feel like a brownie and is very satisfying.
The is the easiest “semi-homemade” recipe ever! You’re the Sandra Lee of Keto minus the tablescape lol thanks for sharing! Also Terry has awesome steady hands wow!
What an excellent idea! I got a slew of protein bars sitting in my cupboard to try this with. Like you said, eating a whole one is a tough mission. This sounds like a great hack to calm the cookie monster inside! Thank You!!
So far one of my favorite flavors this way is the oatmeal chocolate chip. Really good! I also tried the blueberry and the birthday cake. Both are excellent. I tend to do mine on 40-50 seconds. I have a full size micro. I guess i like mine a little more done. Also the birthday cake flavor is not overly sweet, just right.
1/25 edit: after putting the cookies in the fridge overnight and trying them today, they were much better! They actually took on a very nice crisp versus the toughness I experienced after they'd cooked and cooled. I couldn't wait to go out and buy a Quest bar, so I tried this with an Aldi Elevation Snack Advance Protein bar, the caramel double chocolate crunch. Here are the basic macros to start: Serving size: one bar (44g) Calories: 150 Total fat: 5g Sat. fat 4g Total carbs: 23g Fiber: 6g Total sugars: 1g Added sugars: 0g Sugar alcohol: 10g Total net carbs: 7g for one bar. I can edit later as needed if someone wants the ingredients. I followed Steve's method, cutting the bar into 8 pieces and flattened them with a burger press. It was tough, the bars are dense! I microwaved the eight flattened segments for 30 seconds, since the caramel started to spread and bubble. I don't own a silicone mat so I had to use parchment paper. The end result was just okay, most likely due to the "crunch" element of the bar. They were rather flat, almost like chips. They tasted great, but didn't really resemble or feel like a cookie. But, they're only 0.875 net carbs per "cookie thing" as I decided to call them, haha. Can't wait to get a bar that Steve used and try again!
That was awesome! Btw… there is a guy on RUclips who texts tons of different food with his glucose monitor, I think his channel is insulinresistant, and the Quest bars didn’t have a bad insulin response which is great. That makes this hack even better. Thanks Steve!
Gave in and bought the meat smasher and a box of Quest bars. Very nice treat. It doesn't seem to derail me off my diet. A couple of cookies with a cup of tea, then back to carnivorish no problem. Good video, thanks again.
This would be a great way to get my 89 yo dad, who avoids anything "healthy" and has a raging sweet tooth, despite being diabetic, to get more protein into his diet. Thanks!
Thanks Steve... and Wes! I think this is a great idea for a quick fix when you get a craving for something sweet. A couple cookies 🍪 will fix it... and quickly with this idea! Some keto vanilla bean ice cream would be good with the warm cookies...

great idea I will be trying it this weekend. hard to satisfy everyone's Sweetooth in this household. I am not one for protein bars but as you said the texture changes when cooked. The closest thing we can find that is a healthy cookie is the almond flour ones from aldis...about 1 gram of sugar per tiny cookie.
Thx Steve. Going to try tonight if my store has the bars. I think a sheet of parchment paper on top before you smash may prevent sticking. Fast and easy I like it.
OK. Now have a challenge for you .. Einkorn flour. How much healthier is ancient flour vs modern flour? I ask because ancient flour is low gluten and higher protein.
I've thought about it a handful of times, but honestly this challenge would fit better with one of the keto baking channels like "All Day I Dream About Food" or "Keto Upgrade". Both have far more experience with keto baking than I do.
I honestly like the Quest bars as-is, but they're definitely better cooked. I chop mine up into 4 pieces then put them in the toaster oven for a few minutes to get the baked flavor.
Thanks for making me aware of this hack. I tired this on a Costco/Kirkland brand Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavors with similar results. But I just cut the bar into 8 pieces and didn't smash them. I did 4 in the microwave on high for 35 seconds. They kind of bubble up and spread out a little. These taste better this way but they seem to stick more to my teeth. I did 4 in the toaster oven at 370 for 8 minutes. That temp was too high, 350 would probably be better. They got a little crispy, but tasty, and less sticky. Nice hack! Next time I'll do the toaster oven at 350/8-10 minutes as suggested below. No need to smash them.
This is very helpful, Steve, along with the comments/suggestions I’m hoping are shared. Oddly, I am struggling w/with getting in enough protein & calories due to some medication interactions so was thinking supplementing bars may help. Great timing, as usual, Steve lol.
I just tried this. I got a sampler pack, and my daughter made them into cookies for me so I don't know which flavor she used. Whatever it is, it's really good, although I liked them best slightly warm and soft rather than as crunchy as they are cold. Thanks for this!
Oh wow, forgot about this from seeing it a few yrs ago. I just bought a case of the white chocolate raspberry Quest bars, so will definitely try this & report back. Thanks for the reminder Steve
@@SeriousKeto I tried this. It was bad. Then I realized that the "best by" date on the PL bars was 12/2023. So, not exactly a fair test. Though, there's a reason they've been in the pantry for more than a year. Sorry for the bogus data point.
@@SeriousKeto We tried again! Tonight we used the Quest Birthday Cake bar. Cut into 8 pieces as you did. I put the pieces between two small pieces of parchment paper before pressing, so no sticking at all. Don't have a silicon mat, so put on a regular dinner plate with a piece of parchment paper. YUM! Just about a minute out of the microwave (at 35 seconds) they were marshmallowy. A few minutes later they were a little firmer, but never made it close to "crunchy" like a cookie. We each tasted a bite of it cut right off the bar before trying the "Steve-i-fied" version and your technique did make them taste better. Definitely worth doing again for a quick after-dinner snack. Thanks, Steve!
Chocolate peanut butter - presses out well. Cooked in air fryer for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Hot very good. Very crispy once cool. Probably will try with only 8 minutes though.
Thanks for this video. Awesome! I’ve been eating them in the microwave forever and occasionally stick em in the chaffle maker. I wanna try this new way, particularly the crunchy ones. Did you just leave them on the counter for a few hours? Or maybe our then in a container, etc.? Thanks again!
On the counter, then in the cookie jar (which isn't air tight). If you want them to stay kind of moist, you can put them in a ziplock bag. Whichever way you go, I'd recommend eating them within a week, as they do start to taste a bit stale by then.
I will have to try this again. A good while back I had some quest bars and they didn't do well for me. I wasn't on carnivore like I am now. They might have improved a lot since then since it messed my stomach up. When I have funds again I will try them again. Thanks Steve and your videos are always the best.
leave it to you steve to come up with a delicious hack!! i have some more choco brownie bars arriving today and can't wait to try this out. my low carb sweet tooth appreciates it. thanks!!!
Steve get your tortilla press and some parchment paper and it makes flatting a breeze. I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough it was great, the brownie was good but I didn't care for smores. That's all I've tried so far
Chocolate brownie - tastes great, presses out well
Cookies and cream - tastes very good, doesn't press out as well due to large chunks of cookie
Chocolate chip cookie dough - tastes really good, presses out pretty well

I have not, but I have some that are getting awfully close to their "best by..." date that I should use up.
@@SeriousKetoSame here, may just have to try this!
Thank you - I can't wait to try this. 26 days on keto.
I used to do this often years ago but I preferred baking them in the oven.
Great video Steve! And I love the shirt. I need to get one for my wife. 😂
Thanks!
6dollarshirts dot com is the source for much of my wardrobe. 🙂
I just tried the cookie dough bar yesterday for the first time, uncooked. I’m gonna try another one this way. TFS.
Thanks Steve! Now i have to be patient and let them sit for a while to get crispy. I can't wait to try them!
Also, microwaving them for 45-60 seconds (rather than 30-45) will probably get them crispier/crunchier.
Excited to try this…I think my grandson will love them! Thanks for the hack Steve 😀
Interesting... Going to try this with the Perfect Keto protein bars we've had laying around here for a while (didn't love them). Will let you know. :)
Please do let me know.
Quest company executive " Daaannngggg!"
Thanks Steve! Great video. I can’t wait to try this. Hopefully we are going to Sam’s in the next couple of weeks. 😋
Chocolate peanut butter - presses out well. Cooked in air fryer for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Hot very good. Very crispy once cool. Probably will try with only 8 minutes though.
how fantastic! an improvement on an improvement!
Your wife didn't want to be on camera... but didn't realize her reflection was on the refrigerator:)
But you can't REALLY see her appearance, which is what she was concerned about. 😉
Great idea thanks Steve. We just happen to be going to Sam’s club this weekend. Going to grab some! Have a great weekend 😊
I love it when a plan comes together. 😉
What a creative mind you have! Super idea!
Thank you both!
@ noice! Thanks!
Thank you so much. This is definitely gonna make my life a little easier. I love the brownie bar made into brownies. ❤
I just had the Chocolate Brownie Quest bar as cookies. They were awesome!
That's the epitome of the KISS method.
You had me as simplest and quickest.... AND you came through! I'll have to give that a try because I'm simple and quick well maybe slow quick 🤪
Thanks Steve from Serious Keto!!
Great! Definitely need some quick last minute ideas like this.
I will have to try this again. A good while back I had some quest bars and they didn't do well for me. I wasn't on carnivore like I am now. They might have improved a lot since then since it messed my stomach up. When I have funds again I will try them again. Thanks Steve and your videos are always the best.
Excellent! Looks great, can't wait to try it out
Definitely something to add to my Sam's list. Thanks, Steve!
Hi Steve. What a great idea! So easy too! Thanks for sharing!😊🤗
Quest bars are very expensive in my country, I buy a similar brand, that I find taste better, so I will try your genius hack with the bars I buy
Great idea, Steve. Definitely will try this.
This sounds and looks Delicious!!!
Those look good. Will have to try them. Thank you, Steve.
I have to try this with the peppermint bark bars and fridge or freeze them. Refreshing thin mints!
Please let me know how that turns out.
@@SeriousKeto will do! Looks like they are labeled as seasonal so I might have to wait.
leave it to you steve to come up with a delicious hack!! i have some more choco brownie bars arriving today and can't wait to try this out. my low carb sweet tooth appreciates it. thanks!!!
What was the microwave device you cooked the cookies on
The silicone mat?
GREAT tip! Thanks! I'm going to grab a couple bars for emergency purposes!
Genius I'm going to try this
Cookies and cream in the tortilla press got nice and flat. 30 seconds and they do taste better than the bar. Great idea.
Great idea I tried it with an almond chip IQ bar and it was really good. I will try a paleovalley superfood bar (not keto) next.
Awesome. Keep me updated. 🙂
The paleovalley superfood protein bars melted and then got hard and chewy like plastic. I really did not like them 😅
1/29/25 Just tried these cookies using the Quest chocolate brownie flavor - excellent! Thanks!
Glad they worked out for you! 🙂
Steve get your tortilla press and some parchment paper and it makes flatting a breeze. I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough it was great, the brownie was good but I didn't care for smores. That's all I've tried so far
I'm totally using the tortilla press next time.
Thank you Steve.
Steve very interesting. Thank you for sharing.
The cookies and cream one and rhe doughnut one are top quality.
