10,000 miles daily driving a 2022 Maverick

  • Since purchasing my Maverick, I have had an amazing time owning and driving it. As time wore on, and the rose-colored glasses faded, I was able to see both the good and bad things about it, and make this video. To spoil everything, I greatly enjoy the Maverick, and it perfectly suits my usage. But whether or not that applies to you is something only you can decide. I hope this video can help you get started, and best of luck.

    This unibody platform is basically the same as my 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.0 Ecoboost motor and AWD drivetrain. With 240 HP, it is peppy and fun to drive. Now that I have 10 years and 120.000 miles on this platform, it is still very solid. With full synthetic oil changes every 5k miles, the engine still runs strong and uses no oil between changes. Making the body into a light pickup just adds to the utility of a solid platform that I am still enjoying after 10 years.

    Great review. If I get the urge to let go of my current ride I may be looking at the Maverick. I used to own an '05 F-150 but wasn't hauling that much with it and it took up a large footprint in the driveway. The Maverick would be more practical in my case for the occasional appliance purchase or hauling stuff to the county dump.

    I currently have a 2014 Fusion with the 2.0 and AWD, it works great and the AWD kicks in without hesitation making it difficult to lose traction in any situation. Unfortunately, the 6 spd auto in my Fusion is definitely subpar. There is always a kick or hesitation from 2nd to 3rd and shift time is rather long in general, and it doesn't like to downshift unless really leaning into gas pedal. The Maverick has been my goal since it launched and now I'm only more convinced I want one! Great review.

    • @mrbillybob444
      @mrbillybob444 Год назад

      Yes, this is where I'm at. Have a 2007 Fusion that has seen better days, and when the maverick launched I knew it was the replacement. Now they need to show up on the lot. Or release the order books. Something.

    That was a good review. I own a Maverick Lariat 2.0 Eco 2WD and I am getting 25 mpg in town driving. I love the truck. Have not been on a road trip long enough to get an idea about hwy mpg but I would hope to get 30 driving between 70 and 75. My only complaint is the rattles from the front doors and dash. I plan to have the service dept attempt to fix those rattles when I go in for service.

    Great “real world” review. Reviews after time and use with a vehicle are more important to me than the “look what I just brought home!” review.
    I think a Maverick is my next vehicle. I keep bouncing between it and a used Ridgeline (we currently have 05 and 18 Pilots). I like the increased hauling capacity of the pilot, and well, it’s a Honda. I like the better fuel economy of the Maverick. Looks like it’ll get about 5 miles per gallon more than the Honda. Ultimately, it may depend on pricing when I purchase one in the spring.
    I think either of them would be an excellent complement to my Silverado 3500 HD. Good fuel economy with light duty capacity for a daily driver, and the old workhorse when I really need to move something.

    I've had the basic Maverick for 10000 miles and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I've used it for a little bit of everything. You are 💯 about rolling down the windows. The other minor irritation I would add is that the driving options, eco mode, sport mode, ect are not saved. So every time you shut down the truck, you have to reset your mode. Overall it seems to be a great buy though.

I do a bunch of small-middling jobs throughout the week, instead. All I need room for is my tools and some small materials. I really think this would do the trick. Given the added bonus of up to 41 mpg with the hybrid version, it's very tempting.

    This was exactly the truck I wanted and ordered, but never received. I'm now in a Santa Cruz Limited and I don't regret it. The Maverick is a great little truck, but feature for feature, I think the Santa Cruz is the more compelling option for someone with less truck necessity.

      I ordered one in January too. Still on order. I now have a Santa Cruz SEL Premium and love it. So happy that Ford shafted me.

    Do you ever wish you got the hybrid for the fuel economy? Been debating between the two engines. I want a Maverick but they are marked up to $35k+ in my area so I'd have to order one and wait a while if i want one at MSRP lol

      Not really honestly. I needed something to tow with and I've done a good deal of towing since, including bringing a 2800lb focus 3 hours back home through mountains. I also like having the AWD. As for fuel economy, I drove 70 miles all highway yesterday to drop off a cylinder head and made 30 mpg so I'm not upset with that.
      If you want one at MSRP, place an order, and pick the options you want. That's what I did.

      Got the hybrid and love it. It’s not a tow vehicle, but I didn’t buy it to tow. Running about town you can get 40+ mpg, and 70 on the highway will be 34-36 mpg.
