I paid $23k out the door for an XLT eco boost. I have 6k mikes on it and I’m still in love with it. I’m also not a huge fan of the orange. I don’t like the cubby hole at all tbh…wish it was just a bigger screen. The cubby behind the screen is ideal for large sunglasses. You get used to the dial shifter pretty fast. I average 31 mpg in normal drive mode.
Just got mine exactly a week ago. I just drove 25 miles in a major city with TONS of stoplights and averaged 30.4 MPG. That was with 2 adults, 2 kids, and at least 500 pounds of vacation gear in the back. It’s borderline fun to drive for me too. I can use it to run my boat detailing business during the week, and haul the kids around on the weekend. All of this for 28.5k OUT THE DOOR with for the XLT 2.0, CO-Pilot 360, optional 110 outlet in the back seat, AND A Line X spray in bed liner. Bang for the buck is awesome.
@@cabdriven I've had an AWD XLT since Nov 21' and have 10,000 miles on it. Averaged 32.5 mpg highway driving over 500 mile trip in the midwest. this is the perfect truck for anyone that doesn't need to tow 10,000 lb and doesn't want 18 mpg.
Technically, it does not have a fully independent (rear) suspension. It's a torsion beam suspension and it works well enough. Mainly a cost saver and actually preferred in the case of this truck. The interior is also a love/hate thing... that cubby-hole is ridiculous and I can only speculate it was a design flaw or cost cutting measure as a larger screen was voted down. Good review.
Yes and no, the FWD is a torsion beam, as you state, but if I remember correctly the AWD models are IRS. If I am wrong I apologize but I am certain that is what I saw/read in previous reviews.
You’re correct about the cubby, due to the microprocessor shortage the full size screens chip wasn’t available so they had to make do with the available chips to meet demand. Hence smaller screens/ cubby space but “availability” despite microprocessor shortage
Great review. I appreciate your honest, up front, straightforward thoughts. This video is a good example of really refreshing content that other vehicle reviewers could use a dose of.
I love my Maverick!! I ordered it before Christmas and it was finally delivered the end of May. It was worth the wait and the price was great. $25k for the XLT. By the way, orange is one of my favorite colors so I’m digging the interior.
I had 3 older Ford Rangers and was ready to jump at the new Ranger until I saw that it was too long to fit in my garage comfortably. This will probably be my next vehicle and I agree, this was what the new Ranger should've been.
I love my 22 ford maverick..we’ve had it since December 2021… we got the XLT with the luxury package..we love ours..with that said there is a few things I wish ford would change.. the hockey puck shifter is one for sure… I get used to driving with it and then I go to drive our van I forget where the shifter on the van is.. just a little annoying… now for the engine noise, not sure why.. but ours does not have any engine noise.. it’s very quiet and a comfortable ride..now the next 2 things I really wish ford would change… when you get into the vehicle you decide what drive mode you want.. I always select echo .. then when drive to your location stop and turn off the vehicle it goes right back into normal mode and if you forget to change it back to echo you do lose some gas mileage.. it should be when you select echo.. it should stay in echo.. plus if you turn the vehicle on it should say “ vehicle still in echo..or what ever mode your in.. simple click “ok “ to let the vehicle know you want to stay in echo mode on the steering wheel instead of have to cycle through the drive modes every time… the next feature Is the auto shut off when you stop the vehicle.. yes I can see that would be important for the hybrid but the 4 cylinder echo boost engine should not… or at least have the ability to shut if off and leave it off.. cause again when you shut the vehicle off it will go right be to auto shut off mode and let’s be honest.. it bugs the heck out of me every time I stop at a red light the vehicle shuts off…and do we really NEED this feature??? I would say no.. maybe in the big cities with lots of traffic but again durning the summer when it’s hot, when the engine shuts off .. so does your AC …so I would pass on this feature all together.. ( please ford please come out with a fix ) now with that being said.. I love my 22 ford maverick.. there are awesome little features I just love.. like the AC .. if you have an incoming call on your phone and you answer it while your plugged into apple car play or android auto..the Truck will turn the fan speed down on the ACso you can hear who your talking to plus the person on the other end won’t hear AC fan noise and you won’t have to keep saying “ WHAT? WHAT? CAN YOU REPEAT THAT!! I just love that cause most of my time in the vehicle and my business I’m on the phone…also I love all the strange storage that’s going on in the vehicle.. again I basically work out of my vehicle and I have a place for everything even the funky door cubby he showed..now again I love my maverick..you could not give me enough money to get rid of it.. we had a 2007 ford ranger before and it was just a 2 door vehicle..well back in 2007 when we got it we didn’t have 2 boys..now we do.. so my wife would have to dive the van to drop them off to school.. and before I get home I would have to go swap vehicles so I could pick them up from school.. so we waisted lots of gas before we got our maverick.. having a vehicle with 4 doors is a must if you have kids and take them to school..or where ever…now, I think we were one of the first ones in our state to order the Maverick and I don’t care where we go ..Walmart Home Depot krogers ..don’t matter..we can come out and 9 times out of 10 there is someone standing at our truck wanting to know either what it is.. or do we like the truck.. blah blah blah..and before we know it they are sitting in our truck wanting it… and I do tell them the good and the bad .. but most is always good.. we came out of Walmart just a few days ago and there was a doctor waiting in the 98 degree heat so he could ask what kinda of truck it was and do we like it.. I sent him straight to the ford dealership.. also right now with gas prices the way they are…we drive the maverick when we go see my mother in law.. 2 reason really.. one last time we went we got 36 miles per gallon on the highway.. 2 ..we splurged and paid 10 bucks a month for internet in the truck so it’s a WiFi hotspot..and trust me when you have 2 young boys on a long trip.. they need entertainment.. not sure how I got along when I was a kid..seemed to remember making a lot shapes with the clouds..anyway back to it.. yea.. the internet for the kids is awesome.. especially for us..my oldest son has autism and him be able to play his iPad helps so much.. again just another little feature that’s awesome… so I guess basically what I’m saying is and if you missed it the first few times I said it..I LOVE MY MAVERICK!
This is very good information. I will be ordering my 23 Maverick on August 2. Hopefully the problems you described will be corrected. Also I have seen that it should have a split rear seat. Thanks again.
I've been in the market for a new truck for a while, I was leaning toward the Tacoma but as someone who's also 6'3 this truck seems way more comfortable, not to mention around 15k cheaper
@@teslaedison6236 I'd agree I have a Maverick and am already thinking of trading it in, or keeping it until I can order and receive a new bronco. This "Truck" is just too small.
Your review is spot on. My wife was mad about me putting 2x4s on the center console in her Lexus - needed a small truck for homeowner stuff. Looked at used Tacoma's etc all above $30K. Got a Mav AWD XL with tow package, added cruise control myself (Ford switches). Been driving this little truck since April - exactly what I needed. Wish the Hybrid had AWD, would love to have the better MPG.
I actually want one of these. I think they are more than enough truck for most people. "...Could be better...." Yes, but that means it cost is going to probably be nearly 20% more cost and thus takes away the easy entry pricing. With that, I have learned over the years the mid-cycle refresh is the best. typically all the bugs or mechanical issues are worked out by this point and the refresh brings better looks most the time, in addition to more options or more included in each package for a better bang for your buck feel.
Would be in one today if they sold for $26k…all dealers in their area are throwing on a $10k mark up…(over msrp which I thought I would never pay). Got a call from a dealer near me in Ashland VA, rushed in as it was the XLT trim & color I wanted, arrived to find they had marked it up to $36k! Walked out and refuse to pay anyone that mark up.
If you do get a hybrid it has cvt transmission made by JATCO. JATCO makes horrible cvt transmissions. They are notorious for breaking down. Just sayin.
@@opiegonebad58 Some are saying that a 5 year old Maverick in good condition could retain most of its initial sales price because the waiting list is so long. Toyota should have a hybrid truck before long, but I doubt that it will have the low base price of Maverick. I like the F150, but a truck the size of Maverick is really more to my actually needs. And a PHEV version of the Maverick is coming, and probably a BEV version. Ford is taking a Three Bears marketing strategy on Maverick
@@timothykeith1367 Toyota does have a truck hybrid. The hybrid Tundra, but its a real truck. You know for towing, off roading, etc. It gets 22 mpg which is pretty good for a truck.
@@JesusisLOVEJohn- Pretty sure this is the same e-cvt for has used for years. It's an extremely durable transmission. Lots of owners with 200-300k or more on the original trans. The hybrid system in general is bulletproof.
Can't wait to get mine in 2023! All signed up to build when they get released, I've always been a Ram guy but I love what Ford is doing these days with trying to give dealerships the middle finger. I need a daily truck with better MPG and 4x4 or AWD for the work commute in the snowy north. I don't care about the looks whether or not it's a "real truck" and can pull 6000kg because that's what farm trucks are for. I need something that can take light payloads from the hardware store or landscaping lots and will get me to work safely in bad weather. And for the 30k tag, you can't beat that
It’s wild to me that a sub $30k truck is thought to be cheap now. People have just accepted this and kept paying, I for one will continue buying old vehicles.
An old vehicle that will require 10-20k in repairs in the next 4 years. Most people don’t have the time or money required to maintain and update an old vehicle so at this point the only option is to buy new, and 90% of new vehicles these days are above 30k just the times we live in….

I agree with you on the Ranger name plate. I had that conversation before. Totally agree with you. I have the first edition. I really do love the truck. I have every bell and whistle possible. Joy to drive.
Oh yeah. I keep saying that the new ranger should be called the F-100, since it's hardly any smaller than the F-100, and the Maverick should've been called the Ranger. I think that'd be perfect
My build week is this week 6/20. I'm a fatty 6 3" ab out 245 pounds. I have an XLT with the Luxury, AWD and 4K towing with a sunroof in Area 51. Hopefully they can deliver on the SoA.
Fantastic video - but, did I miss something - is the steering wheel on the right side somehow? How was this filmed? My brain hurts. I may have an “oh, duh” moment and come back and delete this.
I think that cubby hole is intended for umbrellas. I could be wrong but i've seen other manufactures utilize that space for conveniently grabbing umbrellas while getting out of the car.
As a former Ford Ranger owner, 1995 model, I’m pissed at Ford hearing how bad the reviews have been for the new model, but it’s refreshing to hear you say that the Ford Maverick is the new Ranger. I’ve been eyeing this truck for a fews weeks, really considering making a move to get one.
I have a Mazda 3 Hatchback. I bought it because the gas economy plus the cargo space. A new full size truck is too much, don't work in the trades, probably not going off road, not going to haul a large trailer... but there are times when I would like the cargo space of a truck. The Maverick is targeting me.
Have a 2022 Oxford White XL Ecoboost AWD. Got just over 5000 miles on it. It's all you need ! Paid $24910 total for mine . No orange accents at all , thank God ! I came from a 2005 F-150 FX4 , and love my Maverick !! Drive it 92 miles per day, mixed highway/ country roads and getting 32.5 MPG's. It's your answer to everything. It's a truck, hauls ass, people, and stuff in the bed . It really is everything that 85% of people NEED ! It's Ford Tough !
I ordered mine in sept of 21. Took delivery in march. I think it looks great. Not trying to be slick like the Santa Cruz. Just trying to look like a smaller ford truck. The interior design is good, too. And the cubbies are versatile and useful. ( except for that one next to the screen ). I agree the shift knob ought to have stops. I agree that the truck ought to remember what mode you had it in, and you should be able to make the engine shutoff feature OFF by default. But those might be corrected in a software update. I got the AWD with tow package and the truck can haul its full payload up a steep grade without you even feeling it. It takes corners like a sedan. And the undersea storage in mine holds everything I might need out on the road, from road flares to jumpers, to load straps. I’ve hauled plywood in it and the tailgate feature for doing so works great. The XLT has 110 outlets, inside the cab and in the bed, and the rear seat and front seat have usb and usb-C charge ports. And I have had 5 full grown adults, two of them over six feet tall in the truck and no one was particularly cramped. The front seats are still roomy enough even when you pull the seat forward to make more room in the back for tall gomers. All in all, for 30K its the best value on the road for anyone that needs something that can haul people AND materials.
I got an xlt hybrid with the luxury package. Have about 4500 miles on it. For driving to work and school it is great. It is a comfortable little truck that gets amazing milage. I did not realize the orange was a thing on all of them. I got mine in red so I had assumed it was color matched. I have an old f250 i use for towing my trailer and hauling stuff for projects. I love it especially after only paying like 27k out the door. It is a great truck especially for me since I live in LA and the hybrid is awesome for traffic.
I've seen hundreds of these reviews. A ton before I bought my own Maverick, a ton while I waited for it to be built, and a ton still.......because I fucking love this pickup and like hearing opinions on it. Honestly, this is my favorite review of the Maverick. May be partial because I am an Okie as well. Completely understand the wind/weather reference. That wind...is......constant, pervasive, always there. Gotta learn to walk against it.
Thank you for the review and for your honest feedback. Here's some feedback. REVERSE your video. Payload is 3/4 ton - 1500 lbs, as you mentioned. THAT IS GOOD! I agree the Ranger SHOULD be this truck. Needs more charging ports, at LEAST 50% more for both the front and back. The prices your quoting are higher than the Indianapolis area: XL - $19,995 XLT - $22,280 Lariat - $25,490 The cubby on top is to hold a GPS or other device. The deep cubby holes are for long items like Umbrellas etc. Things you use when you're getting out of the truck. Thank you for sitting in the back and showing us what it is like!
I have a 2010 Ford fusion hybrid...same drive train and I get incredible milage and very smooth and plenty powerful...excellent combo...very reliable engine...good handling, quiet S Should be very good in a midsized truck
Great video. PLEASE do a video telling us why you hate the Ranger! That was really interesting to me. I'm looking at that truck and would love to hear more.
Man, I want one of these. I HATE Ford, but my Ram is just way too much truck for me. And I feel like I need to support a company that is actually trying to make an affordable vehicle, and keeping the dealers out of the picture at that.
Why is the steering on the right hand side? Did I miss something? Great review, I am currently looking at replacing my Tuscan with this. I'm a little skeptical since it's the first time the Maverick is being offered. Don't want to jump from one lemon to another.
Regarding you comment about rather having a Maverick than a Ranger, you are not alone. Per the Q2 sales figures released by the automakers and listed on Good Car Bad Car for US pickup sales: Ranger sales were 34.2k for Q2 of 2021, for 2022 that number dropped by a whopping 18k to only 16.2k. Meanwhile, the new Maverick sold 19.5k units for Q2 22 (and obviously zero for 21). So, 18k potential Ranger buyers chose this instead, along with another 1500 people, to beat Ranger sales by about 3300 units for the quarter. For some additional perspective, the Tundra, Frontier, and Gladiator all sold around 21k for the quarter, so the Maverick is just about as popular as they are, and the Colorado was at 22.5k. My theory is that, due to ballooning prices on trucks (and the insurance increases that go along with that), combined with rising gas prices, people who would otherwise have bought a half ton to tow a 12 foot boat, or a 4x4 midsize or half ton despite not off-roading, took step back to honestly evaluate their needs/uses. Doing so led to looking at this affordable truck that could tow their boat (or atv or whatever), got great fuel economy, and can be equipped with AWD for those in winter climates, and they decided to buy based on their needs rather than with their ego.
I should add, Ford never breaks out fleet numbers (since it helps inflate the F Series numbers to say they are number 1 seller), but even if 100% of those Mavericks were fleet sales (hypothetically), it would make quite a statement that Ford's fleet customers ran from the Ranger when presented with a smaller and less capable truck that provided sufficient utility for their business while being half the price of the Ranger and practically double the fuel economy.
Get the higher end Maverick with the big engine and FX4 offroad plus towing package for only $36,000 fully equipped and you are set. That higher-end version STILL gets 27+ MPG and it can even go off-road which TFL truck and other channels have ALSO tested quite well! I've even seen local ones that are LIFTED on M/T tires with nice self-built back-bed canopies and roof-top campers. The Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline can't compare price-wise to that sort of functionality. It's $7000 to $10,000 USD more to get the same functions! I'm VERY IMPRESSED with the higher-end workplace-bought Mavericks so far and am EAGERLY awaiting an all-electric version with 300 mile range! Sometimes ya just gotta bite-the-bullet and SPEND the extra $10,000+ to get the higher end trim level to satisfy your inner cravings for interior luxury features plus off-road and towing capability! V
The little cubby in front of the screen is for pre-heating things for a 10 am snack. Throw a burrito in there in foil. Let it cook on the dash for a few hours and boom.... hot snack. Want to warm up those left over tacos for lunch.... boom! I'd call it the SUV of trucks with the unibody and independent rear frame. Nice ride. Light work. The dial thing is weird. Drove a dodge with one. I prefer a lever. I have 265K on my current gas and oil guzzler. Currently looking hard at these. Will be at the cross roads soon. New motor or different truck. I think it will fit most of what I do. Sucks you can't put a 6 foot ladder in the bed long ways. I can still fit 3 dirt bikes in and get good MPG. I currently get most of my miles from running them to ride. The occasional work trip (.62 per mile for usage). I had a couple ladders as well as tools and such. Pack out stack. Holding out hopes for a toy hauler, but given current prices I can camp or stay at hotels (which I hate with dirt bikes).
That's insane, I have a Maverick and now am thinking of getting a Ridgeline. The interior is just too cheap, I've had it for two weeks and I have scratches on the door from my watch bezel.
Noooooooo don't get a Ridgeline.... They are just cheap overall, and Honda doesn't really know how to make trucks. The maverick might feel cheap on the interior, but the internals are much better thought through and better at what they do. Ford actually knows what they are doing with trucks, while Honda only really made a bad SUV with a bed.
@@dominicdelgado1654 yeah just mad that I built it out over 31K. 25K is the sweet spot for this car. I'm going back and forth, but will most likely build a Bronco and trade up whenever it's built. The price difference of my Maverick and a Big Bend Bronco is only about 5 or 6k difference.
Love my Maverick. Park it in the drive. Had someone knock on my door today ask me to see it! Had a Ranger for a rental recently, did not care for it. Good review.
Is your right hand drive?looks like you are driving from the passenger side.oh and I love "big load" and if I crash it,I'll buy another one.i have a 2024 xlt on order.cant wait for it.
Nice truck, good review. My only gripe with Ford vehicles is that chime when the door is open & at start up. Some vehicles at my work are Ford & the chime drives me crazy. It may be just me & it's no big deal.
Please make a single-cab version. I’m CONSIDERING getting one right now, but I want a longer bed more than I want rear seats. Id DEFINITELY buy that in a hybrid
My biggest issue with it is I wish it had a tow capacity of 5500 lbs. Being able to tow a small/mid size travel trailer would be the tipping point for me.4k lbs is a bit low when single axle tt's are usually 3200 lbs or more empty. Toss gear In it and you hit 4k easy. 5k-5500 lbs would open up more options, and let you handle lighter trailers easier.
The space on the dash behind the screen is a perfect space for Toll Transponders. I have always hated having to stick that to my windshield and have it fall off on an extremely hot day.
The Maverick is NOT a mid-size truck. Don't mislead your audience. it's a compact truck. The last time Ford sold a compact truck in the USA was in 2011 with the old Ranger, and the Maverick is even slightly smaller than that. Some of your complaints have been addressed since. The orange interior accents? Those become black if you get the Black Appearance package. said package also includes black seats, black door panels, black interior accents, blacked out headlights, black exterior trim, smoked tail lights, and black wheels. The reason the truck is so cheap is that it's not built like a truck. The Ranger and F150 are traditional trucks, with body on frame construction. The Maverick is unibody, like a Toyota Corolla. It's built on the same platform as the Ford Escape and Ford Focus. This explains the size, price, drivetrains, and unibody construction.
Great review! I'm lookin at vehicles now cuz my son just got his license and probably getting my car. I like the no frills, old school "truckness" that this truck has!!!!!! The price is right too!!! Imma test drive one soon! Thanks!!!
We just got one that some cancelled because they could not wait for their order. Off hand the negatives are cheesy trim, it looks like garbage nylon they pulled out of the back scrap pile. Only other issue is my foot hits the bottom of the console when on the brake. I'm 6'4" 275 and fit perfect except for my feet under the dash. It has awesome power on highway which we spend most days on. We turned in our leased f150 5 liter for this. The nonstop turning shift knob bugs me slightly as an engineer.
Looks like the inside segments are right hand drive?! I have a Eco boost XL for general transportation. Just added AWD and the towing package. $24.500 out the door. The sliding (manual) rear window is only available with the 360 package for some reason. I added bed lining and a bed cover. Have not had a complaint from any adults about roominess riding in the back seat. The truck is a little noisy but have to expect that for the price.
The modes do work! Try driving it and switch from regular to eco mode and you'll feel it change, same for sport mode and so on... I bought the Lariat luxury with jamming system and it cranks. Milage is sweet, I'm getting 28 in city and I've owned mine for 4 days and love it... My 2021 F150 Lariat with 2.7 also sweet but I like most everything about this truck. So far zero complaints. The dial shift, try looking at dash and put it in drive and go... mine is loaded with features and very happy I got it. So read the book on stuff and try it out and redo this or update your thoughts after a month..
What I've learned, all people are different - very hard to get a review that matches my interests. I love my Maverick! That's all I can say. It has a few things I don't love like the low speed brakes... I love the orange and the style, but that's what I was saying about people being different. What's important is the drivetrain and the ride and the power. All of that is very good. Price is such a strange thing. It's not expensive by today's standard. But just 5-8 years ago 30K was a LOT of money. I get it's the cheapest truck - I just can't believe how expensive ALL trucks are now - and why? The Maverick changes all of that. It's just a good ride at a good price. ( please tell me it's not going to fall apart at 50K miles)
I hope it doesn't either I appreciate the feed back they only let me have these trucks for a day and I dive them as hard as I can to find the good and bad
Have you ever observed that he alternates between sitting on his right and left side? Is this an option for this truck that can switch the driving position for left or right-hand driving?
I dare you to drive that Maverick on a few of New York roads and streets in the 5 boroughs and I guarantee you will rethink your 'bad Oklahoma roads' comment. I really appreciate the review.

Dude. Press the enter key every once and a while.
This is very good information. I will be ordering my 23 Maverick on August 2. Hopefully the problems you described will be corrected. Also I have seen that it should have a split rear seat. Thanks again.
@@ronniemullis8717 did you get it?
I've been in the market for a new truck for a while, I was leaning toward the Tacoma but as someone who's also 6'3 this truck seems way more comfortable, not to mention around 15k cheaper
15? Bro, Tacomas are 50k now.
Base SR Tacoma 4x4 is around $30k. I'll gladly pay that for a real solid rear axle TRUCK
Good luck finding one for that.
@@teslaedison6236 yes the v6 4x4 acces cab is like 32k I feel like it might be better so spend a little more if you can afford it
@@teslaedison6236 I'd agree I have a Maverick and am already thinking of trading it in, or keeping it until I can order and receive a new bronco. This "Truck" is just too small.
Why is this a right-hand drive?
Your review is spot on. My wife was mad about me putting 2x4s on the center console in her Lexus - needed a small truck for homeowner stuff. Looked at used Tacoma's etc all above $30K. Got a Mav AWD XL with tow package, added cruise control myself (Ford switches). Been driving this little truck since April - exactly what I needed. Wish the Hybrid had AWD, would love to have the better MPG.
My 2.0L 4x4 XLT Off Road, is averaging over 32 mpg, with a little over 5300 miles driven . . . absolutely love it !!!
Single time Ford Range owner, and 5 time Taco owner here…. I love your attitude/approach/outlook. Thanks for the honest review.
don't confuse either a Tacoma or a ranger with a unibody Ford escape with a mini truck body on top of it
Im glad that it has the name "Maverick." Its out there, it is in its own category, a new little truck free in the wild. Its a maverick!
Is the steering wheel that switches sides standard, or an option?
I just ordered my Ford Maverick a few days ago. I am excited cannot wait for it to get here..
You can make the back seat go flat if you remove the headrests.
Good question. Can you disconnect the center seatbelt and get it out of the way? Somebody let me know
Would be in one today if they sold for $26k…all dealers in their area are throwing on a $10k mark up…(over msrp which I thought I would never pay). Got a call from a dealer near me in Ashland VA, rushed in as it was the XLT trim & color I wanted, arrived to find they had marked it up to $36k! Walked out and refuse to pay anyone that mark up.
SAME every dealer near me wants 36,000 and up with lariats going up to 47,000. its insane and shows why I hate dealerships so much
I would be in it for the mileage (hybrid), and the bed for light hauling. That's all I need, that's all I want. Great review.
Some are claming almost 60 mph for the Maverick hybrid for parts of a highway trip when driven very carefully. There are rumors of a PHEV version.
Yeah I’m watching this thinking “hey I could maybe pick one up in 5 years or so used”
I’m looking for a new truck. I’m considering a 2006 Ranger or a maybe a 2001 Sierra.
An old vehicle that will require 10-20k in repairs in the next 4 years. Most people don’t have the time or money required to maintain and update an old vehicle so at this point the only option is to buy new, and 90% of new vehicles these days are above 30k just the times we live in….

Great review and video ! This truck is going to sell pretty well for the average person who really doesn't want a mid to full-sized truck .0
I think that'd be perfect
everyone got bigger tho so like we good
I am going to try and fit an umbrella in that deep door pocket. I am wondering if that’s what it’s for.
Dial shifter is nice because you don’t look at all. Just spin it like you’re turning up that volume!
I have a Mazda 3 Hatchback. I bought it because the gas economy plus the cargo space. A new full size truck is too much, don't work in the trades, probably not going off road, not going to haul a large trailer... but there are times when I would like the cargo space of a truck. The Maverick is targeting me.
Nice review, but how do you accidentally mirror the video? Or is Oklahoma a right hand drive state? 😄
Thanks for the review! I ordered the XLT Hybrid which is in transit and I should have it by late December. I think I made the right choice.
Thank you for your honest review. I appreciate what you had to say
Thumbs up for saying "this is what the Ranger should have been". The Ranger is almost an F-150 with different styling.
If I could go out and buy (at MSRP or less) an XLT hybrid with a few options, I would have already.
The prices your quoting are higher than the Indianapolis area: XL - $19,995 XLT - $22,280 Lariat - $25,490
The cubby on top is to hold a GPS or other device.
The deep cubby holes are for long items like Umbrellas etc. Things you use when you're getting out of the truck.
Thank you for sitting in the back and showing us what it is like!
I have a 2010 Ford fusion hybrid...same drive train and I get incredible milage and very smooth and plenty powerful...excellent combo...very reliable engine...good handling, quiet S
Should be very good in a midsized truck
Great video. PLEASE do a video telling us why you hate the Ranger! That was really interesting to me. I'm looking at that truck and would love to hear more.
I credit your review with setting me off in the direction of a Maverick, when I was decided on getting the Ranger. My Maverick is on order now.
11:55 is it not possible to remove the headrests from the back seats? It looks like it'd have plenty of room to fold fully if you took them off
Man, I want one of these.
I thought it was only me who noticed that. I thought this guy was in Europe and not in the US
I have a Ranger XLT FX2 that I bought brand new in 2020 for 30K out the door. Including tax, tag & title and I absolutely love it!
That little hole in the center dash is the perfect spot for an Ez Pass, something you need to pay tolls in the Northeast US.
Regarding you comment about rather having a Maverick than a Ranger, you are not alone. Per the Q2 sales figures released by the automakers and listed on Good Car Bad Car for US pickup sales:
Ranger sales were 34.2k for Q2 of 2021, for 2022 that number dropped by a whopping 18k to only 16.2k.
How come you are on the right side of the truck driving
V
nope. need that hybrid with these gas prices.
I own a 1029 Ranger Lariat and a 2022 Bronco Sport Outer Banks for my wife. We would love one of these little guys. Thanks for the review.
I’ve watched a lot of reviews and this one is the top notch review. Hell I was going to buy a Honda Ridgeline but now I’m Mavrick all the way.

Nice truck, good review. My only gripe with Ford vehicles is that chime when the door is open & at start up. Some vehicles at my work are Ford & the chime drives me crazy. It may be just me & it's no big deal.
I really want one, but they are so marked up at this point that it doesn't make sense to pay that much for one.
EcoBoost XLT is running for $39,995… i would love to have one but prices are way up in PuertoRico
Nice straight forward opinions! The reversing on the camera had me wondering if you were in Australia though! LOL!
Please make a single-cab version. I’m CONSIDERING getting one right now, but I want a longer bed more than I want rear seats. Id DEFINITELY buy that in a hybrid
there is no single cab version
The XL with the eco boost 2.0 with the hitch and spray in bed liner the price was $22.675 and that is a good buy
Under 30k truck is a amazing price with today’s market. Rangers from 2000 are selling for almost 20k in some areas.
Very nice review! Was very surprised that you didn’t have hundreds of thousands of followers. Keep it up! My favorite review on this truck so far!
Great review! I'm lookin at vehicles now cuz my son just got his license and probably getting my car. I like the no frills, old school "truckness" that this truck has!!!!!! The price is right too!!! Imma test drive one soon! Thanks!!!
Really appreciated this video...Love your delivery!!
A totally honest review...you comment re the back seat lying flat has been flagged by Ford...good job
I actually really enjoy your review so I’m gonna subscribe.
Twist beam axle. Semi independent. Good honest review, and enough truck for many apps.
Is his truck...right hand drive?
Is this vehicle more similar in size to the old ranger than the new ranger is? The new ranger seems a lot bigger than the maverick
I know ford can't make everyone happy but I bought a XLT because of the orange trim
It's so weird- at first I thought he was in Australia. But then he mentioned Oklahoma.
I dare you to drive that Maverick on a few of New York roads and streets in the 5 boroughs and I guarantee you will rethink your 'bad Oklahoma roads' comment. I really appreciate the review.
Really looking forward to getting this truck soon. Loved the video too, I have similar humor so I was laughing quite a bit watching.
The cemented me ordering one. Thank you so much!
Idk I love my 2019 ranger, I load it down everyday full of material for work, I’ve loaded with over 2k pounds of paving stones for my backyard and drove 50 miles, it handled it like a god damn champ, the 2.3l is peppy and it’s comfortable, idk why there’s hate on the truck tbh
I pick mine up tomorrow. I’m beyond excited
Once I can pick one of these up after the used car market crashes I’m strongly considering it. Just saving my money and waiting
It's the best value on the market in practically any class of vehicle.
I use a 2017 Nissan Leaf for my work commute car I'm considering getting a used 13,000 MI Ford Maverick hybrid what do you think
Hey, if you take off the backseat’s headrests and put them under the back bench, does the back seat drop all the way? It seems like it might.
i have watched many reviews on this truck and what i keep coming back to is this is a refreshed Explorer Sport Trac. Am i wrong?
It's a hybrid and cheap a xlt with ford copilot a hitch mat and liner cost me 26200 out the door! I get 41 to 47 mpg lowest was 37 hi way with ac on!
Why is the video reversed?
You're right, the Maverick should have been the Ranger.
I love my Maverick.
I’ve only seen maybe three in person driving down the freeway and none up close. All my opinions are based on the many videos here on YT. You basically echoed everything I like and don’t like. I’d really like to order a 2023 XLT AWD Ecoboost but I’m not sure after waiting for all the 2022’s that need to be completed or reordered as 2023’s that I would get it built until late next year or beyond.
I had a stroke about 8 years ago. My right leg isn't responsive enough to work the pedals. Can I drive with my left foot and still keep my right foot out of the way?
