The validity of this is really felt the first time you try this exercise. It's mind blowing the difference between how you THINK you come off VS how you ACTUALLY come off.

This is funny because I do this all the time when I'm home alone. The fact I speak out loud helps me articulate my thoughts, and I can just ramble. A lot of stuff comes out and I can even fix doubts I have, by creating this scenery of "we have a problem, let's find ways to fix it"
I have many hobbies and one of those is writing stories. If I figure out there are plot holes in my story or power system, I can just pretend I'm having this discussion with myself. If there is a discussion going on online, I can pretend I'm making a podcast about my opinion on things. Nobody will judge you tho, nobody can hear you, it's just you and your thoughts. By this you can be honest with yourself and help form your own mentality. You'll notice you'll have more confidence while talking and things to say, i noticed I'm even more prone to jokes on the moment, something I would've never imagined.
Adding to the fact I'm not a native English speaker, it definitely helps keeping my conversation skills strong and stable.
I wouldn't overdo it, but it definitely amplifies your views and creativity a bunch

I think that just talking helps the brain develop the skills. It is like lifting weights for the brain. I’ve often suspected that doing something like this could help depression, because depression saps my ability to do anything active like that. Ok, now to try this exercise. I also love learning foreign languages, but actually speaking them scares the crap out of me. I might try to do some of the videos in foreign languages as well. Thank you.

A thousand years is but an instant. There's nothing new, nothing different; same pattern over and over. The same clouds, same music, the same things I felt an hour or an eternity ago. There's nothing here for me now, nothing at all. Now I remember, this happened to me before. This is why I left. You have begun to find your answers. Although it will seem difficult the rewards will be great. Exercise your human mind as fully as possible knowing that it is only an exercise. Build beautiful artifacts, solve problems, explore the secrets of the physical universe, savor the input from all the senses, filled with joy and sorrow and laughter, empathy, compassion, and tote the emotional memory in your travel bag. I remember where I came from, and how I became human, why I hung around, and now my final departure's scheduled. This way out, escaping velocity. Not just eternity, but Infinity.

Damn, thanks for showing that old clip. I just made my first attempt at recording a YT video, and it's crazy how much that clip reflects how I look and sound. It's like I knew exactly what you were feeling and thinking, cause I was too. It's always hard to look at yourself like that, cause you think "Have I always looked and sounded like this... fuck" and you almost want to just remain ignorant to it from there on out to avoid self embarrassment. My natural tenancy for most things is to immediately assume "ah well I guess I'm not good at this either" when in reality, the more I do it, the better I'll get.

3:05 I once was trying to announce my stop loudly from the back of a shared taxi van so that the driver could hear me, and a woman made a remark: "That's not how you should speak" meaning that I was speaking too quietly to be heard, but I first intetpreted it as her saying that I was too loud. I really felt like I was yelling.

heya Julien, really appreciate the amazing content.
one thing I've realised is that letting go is a gradual process, so although i see how it benefits me in the long run (it definitely has uptill now) it slows down my social success in the short run. for instance if im processing the fear of loneliness, ill be more stifled/nervous during that period than i was before i brought that fear up. ive not seen you address this, or anyone asking this, so im curious and would be grateful to know your opinion on what one can do to get good results in the short run while simultaneously letting and becoming a SOCIAL MASTER!

Hey Julien, this has nothing to do with the video but i thought you could maybe help me. I have autism so i have a really hard time identifying my emotions (i feel emotions like happiness, sadness, annoyment and fear) and i also struggle remembering things from the past and connect them with any emotion. Do you know how i could improve my sensitivity towards my feelings or do you have any idea what i should do?

    • @petejaybeats

I would advise you to try meditation. Just sit there with your thoughts and the amount of emotions that you feel. Really take them in and try to figure out which emotion is which. Julian is big on meditation too so I assume he'd possibly give you the same advice in terms of feeling. Hope it helps!

After its done rewatch and anylyze it,ask yourself how it could be improved example :look at the way you say Xjoke/Xstory keep asking yourself would I watch this? Am I hooked or why was I hooked an now not anymore? If it is easy 2 do 1 a week then do it twice a week.

Hideous presence, body language so far behind and insecurities rooted in subconscious soo bad that you wont see shit after a year of struggling to "improve". Not everyone can just "let go" and magically not remain extremely creepy or stiff boring person.

I can't stand 99% of people. It's rare when someone's voice doesn't annoy me, and even rarer when I want to hear what they have to say. I don't watch podcasts or netflix, I follow one sports team and that's the only irrelevant content I consume, everything else is learning materials for my project. Only thing I care about is escaping 9-5 slavery, social skills to interact with a clown show world isn't high on my priorities. After seeing them all putting on masks, standing in lines and taking injections I'm disgusted really by my own species. Last thing I want to do is talk to these NPC's.
