5 Vocal Foundations of Brilliant Communication
    1. Speed: Change your speed when you speak, keeps the audience interested. Speaking quickly can seem more passionate, but speaking slowly makes a larger impact because it sounds important.
    2. Volume: Volume shows confidence that you believe in what your saying and that you’re confident, you miss out on a huge part of authority, charisma, energy. Speak at different levels of volume.
    3. Melody/ Pitch: When you speak with more melody what you say becomes more memorable. Most people use two notes when they’re talking, you’ve got a piano of 88 keys, most people speak with a few keys. Example how different song played on the piano use a variety of keys to make you feel different emotions.
    4. Tonality: The emotion that lives underneath your words. Body language, your face is the remote control for the emotion that lives underneath your words, your facial expressions influence your smile brings more melody into your words, so monotone face/body = monotone voice, neutral face/body = neutral voice. Feels more authentic.
    5. Pausing: Gives audience time to comprehend what you’re saying, gives communicators time to listen and to process.
Articulation: When you improve articulation pronunciation, of your words, people perceive you to be more intelligent. Pronounce your words with clarity, you come across as more intelligent.
Don’t interchange past tense and present tense.
Imitating great speakers is how you learn, by following proven methods. Fastest way to improve is to find people you like, imitation is not a bad thing, but it’s not okay to imitate forever. You have to start making things your own. Practice makes perfect.
    How to manage nerves
Most of us are great communicators, but when you get on stage all those great communication skills disappear. You need to know how to manage your nerves, because they can rob you of a great presentation.
    Manage from different stand points:
Body- Master your breath, using 2-3 cycles of Wim Hof breathing. Going to help relax your body and your mind. One of the reasons why our body and hands shake is because of excess adrenaline, so before you go on stage go for a walk at a faster pace. By doing these activities you’re getting rid of excess adrenaline.
Mindset- One of the main reasons we get nervous, because we fear judgement, we become self-conscious, take that consciousness in your head and you place it outward. Focus on the audience, you’re there to give value to the people in the audience, the more you get out of your head and into the audience less self-conscious and more audience conscious.

This inspired me so much that I oversimplified this video into a quick reminder, and I felt some might need it as a recap from time to time:
Is it possible for me to change my voice and how I sound? - The way you speak is just a series of behaviours.
    --------
5 vocal foundations of brilliant communication:
    1. Speed - how fast or slow you speak (rate of speech). Keep it varying. Faster speech indicates passion, Slowed down indicates profoundness.
    2. Volume - Keep it at a level 5 when in public.
    3. Pitch - Speak with modulation and melody. Ex: we have a wide range of voice ranges, but we keep using a limited range. Like 2 key tunes of a piano vs 88 key tunes!
    4. Tonality - is the emotions that live in your words. The expression you bring on your face when you sound.
    5. Pausing - Take a pause, after you impress a point, to express it better.
    --------
    How to get better:
Make a 20 min video of you speaking, as in an improv. Send it to a speech pathologist and a second language English teacher and get it reviewed. Work on the review points, one thing at a time.
    --------
    Job interview or your presentation:
If you describe what is said in your resume or presentation, why attend an interview or even go present?
The in-person necessity is to form connections. That you tell a interestingly, that makes you connect and build rapport.
    --------
When you speak, be conscious to present yourself both (body language, hand gestures, facial expressions, head nods and postures) and (5 vocal foundations). Only when you train your vocal instrument, can you connect with people and influence their decisions.
    --------
To start off practicing, mimic a good, if not a better speaker or communicator. Allow yourself to be influenced and at the same time, making it your own by adding your own flavours.
    --------
Nervousness kicks in cold feet when you have to address a large audience or a figure of authority. It brings a sense of shiver and tremble before you get your speech going. This is due to adrenaline rushing in your bloodstream.
    1. Try a couple of cycles of breathing technique or a quick physical action (like take a flight of stairs or few push-ups or star jumps). Get rid of the adrenaline.
    2. Instead of thinking what people might think of what you have to say, think of what value you have to give to them. Shift that consciousness from you to them.
    --------
Dare to start using that vocal range and become familiar to a new self. It may sound fake or phoney, but it's not. Just re-adjust and get going. Explore the full range of that vocal instrument of yours.
    --------
    Try improv. Do improv. Improv.
    It's a game changing skill.
    --------
Your pitch, tone and volume may be familiar to your known circle of people, but not to a neutral audience. Let go of fear or inhibition, 'cause danger is real, but fear is an illusion! Don't get stuck with the mould that other people create for you.
Learn to master this and discover the connection you can make with people at a deeper level.

    Melody! So simple and brilliant.
I've recently gotten back into karaoke and have been looking up singing exercises, that's how I stumbled on to this channel.
It's so effing wild, all these things.... I'm good with my voice, as in accents and inflections, I play harmonica... but I speak at a 3 and only usually only with a couple chords.
I even bought a digital piano last month so I could write my son a song.
Hearing Vinh ( which was also the name of an old boss I had at a bobba tea, ramen, sushi place) say Melody to your speach is like a eureka moment. And I already have all the tools.
And to extrapolate it further you can also say that your face is like a piano too, with all the muscles in it.
Thank you great sir! You're doing the creator's work, like many of the vocal coaches I've seen online. Encouraging and nurturing people to push past their limitations and Awakening the dormant glory yet to be. We'll build a bridge to the heavens this way.

    Notes from first watchthrough:
Tone, Range, Volume, Pauses, Speed, end on a low note. Use the entire piano not just the keys you are comfortable with.
The piano brings strong emotions, despite nothing being said. Your voice has a melody to it too. Use it to your advantage.
A monotone body creates a monotone voice.
Breathing exercises when nervous. Shakiness is from excess adrenaline, do smoke light workout or go for a fast paced walk before hand
Also, learn how to stop focusing on yourself, it’s not about you or about performing good. It’s just about serving the audience to your greatest ability.
This was gold will definitely watch this again to engrain these ideas.

I have a habit of what might be known as stimming. One of the biggest advices I got from mom was..think of it like this. You are seeing yourself from the interviewers eyes. You are hearing what you say. You feel the feeling you are trying to portray. If you stop picking at say an imperfection of the skin or scratching your face even though nothing is causing it really, you can seem uncertain of what you are saying. Your visual clutter basically as you said. As I pictured myself as being the other person or outside looking in perspective.. the first ever job interview landed me a means to get my car and life set up. It gave me a sense of drive. Plus my mom must have wanted to get me outta the house. 😅

This is so true! Since the past few years I've noticed huge fluctuations in my voice and it got me wondering if I ever had my "own" voice. Everyone around me had this signature style to the way they speak, i.e, their distinct voices and they never seemed to deviate from it. Made me think maybe I lost my "natural" tone of speaking somewhere along since I'd just pick up and reflect the tone as the person I'm talking to. This cleared up so much for me, I'm very thankful!

I agree, but the best way to learn is still through actual practice in communication, such as training with role plays on Personeo AI or with your friends.

I have been wanting to train my voice to learn some singing techniques considered weird like yodel and also to train myself to sound deeper and not so high pitched because it deeply annoys me and this video actually made me self aware of how I can do it and more confident on trying. Thank you for the work you do. It actually changes lifes.
