Been subscribed for a while and enjoy all your content, even strangely found myself watching how to repair a Hotpoont washing machine that I don't even own 😂. I'm not looking to speak on my vids, I played a starring role on a TMF video once and can't watch myself on that! Just two questions, what make of handlebar camera mount is that and will you be filming your trip to Normandy? Thanks for all your vids.
Love the name 👍. To be honest there are stacks of mounts/arms available some even made in China ! But I use Ram mounts . I have a ball mount attached to the bikes handle bar and then an extension arm and then the camera is mounted to a ball attachment that is then clamped onto the extension arm . Works really well . Just have to make sure the handle bars when on full lock don’t cause any of the mounts to catch your clocks or depending on what handle bar mount you go for , some quick release clamps have large knobs, that the clamp does not dig into your tank when you turn the bars . I have one of those fast clamp mounts from GoPro and that will dig into the tank on full lock . Glad you enjoyed the Hotpoint video 🤪 just finalising the Landing Beach trip and i will be doing a video . Day 1 will be Pegasus Bridge heading west to the Mulberry harbour then down to the British war cemetery in Bayeux , day 2 is from the West , St Mere eglise, Utah beach , point du hoc , Omaha beach and then finally the American cemetery . It’s been a case of deciding what to see as there is tons of stuff to see but we only have 2 days of site seeing followed by travel day either end . Hopefully dry(ish) 🙈
Loved the video and the comments about GoPro. I too am a DJI fan and have the wireless mic but have been afraid to plug it into the action 3 while riding my bike. What has been your experience? Did you wind up using elastic or something else to prevent losing it?
Hahahaha yes indeed , elastic band to the rescue. The other option is to simply download the audio from the wireless microphone and then synch them in post edit . 👍
I just picked up the DJI mic for my channel videos as well. Hands down game changer....using it with a few GoPros during my build but there is still the popping when riding the motorcycles and plus you have the headache of having to use the go pro media mod and all the cables which is super complicated when attached to your rig...Your set up with the Action3 seems to be the way to go here. Is the mic pretty seamless with the camera like other DJI products?
The quality of the DJI 3 is not as good as the GoPro …. But it’s still very good in the good sunlight etc. however , it’s the fact that it hasn’t frozen on me yet that makes it less annoying than GoPro. From a mic point of view I have used it at very fast speeds and the mic receiver hasn’t fallen out of the side of the helmet mounted action 3 yet , but I do put an elastic band around it 😂 . Popping is too much audio I have my tx at -7 and the rx at -10 .
Brilliant videos mate… What settings are you using to have indipendente control over exhaust and voice mic volumes? I tried in stereo but ended up with the engine in my left ear and my voice in the right (so no good). In Mono of course there’s no post editing control… Any ideas?
Hi. If you use the 2 mics in mono , then pop one in your back pocket and ensure that the red record button is on the back pocket mic(safety track?) Then you get both mics audio being sent to the receiver (thats the green light on the mics) and this is burnt into the audio file on the camera , which means you can't adjust the mics audio levels individually in post edit , but the back pocket mic will have its own audio track that you can download via usb c plugged into the side of it and then drop that track onto the timeline , obviously clapping or something to synch it up with the cameras audio. Then you can as and when reduce the cameras audio(ie both mics) track and then bring up the audio of the pocket mic that will have a separate audio track recorded. Make sense?
@@gsd32i You Sir are a genius🤓! I suppose the only downside is that, when using voice commands to start and stop recording (to not film hours of pointless crap like motorways), the second mic safety track will just keep going making post sync a total nightmare? Or does the safety track also stop and start?
@@kevinofishero yes thats when you have to know when you want to record the exhaust note from the pocket as you will have synch issues...you could see if beeping your horn gets picked up on the pocket mic, I beep 2 beeps etc, safety track I believe keeps running with the red light on...only 15 hours !!!!!
You can do that in editing: I use Luma Fusion for this. I import the video, split the audio track from the video twice (to get two audio tracks). Then you can configure one audio track to «Fill from left» and the other to «Fill from right» and the sound will be in both speakers. That way you get two separate audio channels and can set different levels to suit your taste. So no need for a separate audio track and you will only have recorded sound from when you are recording video.
@@gib6383 I now have Premier Pro set to convert stereo to dual mono. Job done… Just experimenting with different places to place the second microphone.
What chin mount is that? Have osmo action 4 on the way and looking for a mount. Seen one that straps to the helmet but cannot close visor fully and reviews say they break easy
Hi Ian, really pleased with the camera and mics. No crackles or pops from mic getting to "hot". You can hear the wind noise at speed but very pleased with it so far.
@@gsd32i brilliant thank you. I have just bought an Osmo 3, trying to get decent audio via a mic which worked fine with my previous camera. I have one more thing to try, if that fails, I will go down the same route as you, though it is added expense I could do without. 🙄😂
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I tried a lav mic and the usb c jack but the audio wasn't brilliant and I was forced down the more money route...and I am glad I did. The receiver stayed on the camera at speeds well in excess of the speed limit , with an elastic band to add that extra bit of reassurance . The magnetic mount never let me down. FAR more user friendly than gopro, which as a b roll camera let me down again on my recent 3 day mini tour. Pile of crap!!!
@@gsd32i I have heard so many bad reports of Go Pro over the years. Up until my last couple of vids, where I am just trying the Osmo 3 out, I have been using an old SJCam SJ6 Legend. It served me well, but the video quality has been deteriorating, hence the purchase of my new camera. At speeds up to about 50mph (on my RE Classic 350), the wired mic was ok (ish). Then, at speeds of about 60mph (on my Interceptor), it crackles like mad. I have just bought an in-line volume controller, which I will try tomorrow, but if that still doesn’t sort it out, then I will have to bite the bullet and go wireless. I need great voice, and exhaust sound, as my channel is based on that (as well as gorgeous scenery), so if necessary, I will have to use the second mic in my tail bag, and add in editing. Just another process to add 😳🙄😂. Thank you.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield There's always something to do and spend money on., Very pleased with the dji equipment and Its early days for me with it, at speeds of...well you know🙈 there were no mounting issues with the action 3 and the helmet wireless mic stayed in the helmet. I had simply cut a plastic ice cream carton top to shape, to fit inside the helmet chin area, put tape around this and then secured this to the inside of the helmet chin area and simply clipped the mic on this attachment , worked a treat.
Thanks for posting this. Like you, I am fed up with GoPro, primarily because of the hassle with trying to get decent external audio. As soon as DJI or Insta360 video quality that is equal to (or better than) GoPro then I'll bail on GoPro. I think the Chinese systems are getting very close to overtaking GoPro on video quality. One thing I did notice in your video, and I think this is just a post issue, is that there is a very slight delay between the channels for the exhaust notes. I think this is because the rear mic is closer and the helmet mic is a bit further away, so it appears as a very slight echo. You may be able to address that is post by going for a tighter fit between the channel tracks. I'm not 100% sure what the cause is but I do hear a very slight echo in your audio when you compare the two channels.
Hi. You may be correct and I may not have adjusted the 2 tracks exactly in post. Just waiting for the DJI 3.5 mm audio adapter to arrive which should mean that I do away with the receiver unit I plug into the usb port of the camera. It's designed for moto vlogging. 👍
I would give the settings a go and then simply listen to the audio , also check to see of your gopro has decibel level adjustment Trial and error as helmets etc are different.👍
Hi, I would like to use the DJI Mic 2 for motovlogging, but I have a question. Do I just pair the transmitter (mic) with my Insta360 X4, and that's it, or do I also need to connect the DJI receiver to the X4? I read that you get worse audio quality without the receiver. Also, with the transmitter inside the helmet, would it be better to connect a lavalier mic to it? Thanks
Hi. I am not an expert. What I have found works for me is the dji mic receiver plugged into the camera via a lead or usb c and I attach the transmitter to the inside of the helmet and then adjust the settings accordingly, very much trial and error. I don't know much about the mic2 or x4.
How do u sync ur mic to another camera? are u using 1 mic for two camera? like how do u get sound for GO PRO HERO 8 when is the mic is on DJI? Action 3?
Great audio from both ends 😊. Much clearer, or is that just me? Camera quality from the DJI is good. If you record in RAW then you can colour grade in edit (sounds like I know what I’m talking about, but in reality I watched RUclips Videos) 😎.

Hi. You have to go out and test the mic in different locations. Always useful if your mics have the ability to adjust the gain levels to reduce the wind noise etc.
It was a bit of a trip thing to be honest. The clip at the end, when I muted the helmet mic gave a better sound of the exhaust on its own. Its a case of synching the 2 mics audio together , so for a first effort I was more than happy and when I want to hear the exhaust will simply stop talking😂
So purchased a Go Pro 11 in Dec 22. Within a week was turning off, freezing. After a month of trying everything Go Pro said to do they changed it in early Feb. Unfortunately I was not well so didn't test till 4 weeks later. Again straight out the box it was freezing, shutting down and corrupting files. So again all the same rubbish Go Pro telling me what's wrong, manual update, battery faulty (I tried three), SD card faulty ( I tried three) they finally swapped it again. First ride out two weeks ago and switched off in four minutes. Continued to shut down or freeze everything I used it so done manual update and tried a week later and still same problem. Phoned Go Pro and they want to send me a fourth camera. I laughed and said no I want my money back. They said that's not our policy, I replied is it your policy to supply a working camera? I've spoken to my credit card company and they will refund the money and take it up with you as I've never had a working item and everything is detailed on your computer. Anyway looked at the Osmo 3 as I don't won't an insta 360 x3 due to all the editing and think the wireless mics are the best quality I've heard in a crash helmet. Also I love the way the camera uses the magnetic brackets. I agree the quality isn't as good however it doesn't matter how good it is if it doesn't work. Will get the adventure pack as seems best value. I'm interested ti hear what the audio sounds like with something like a purple panda plugged in. Thanks for review. Tim.
Tim I am with you totally on that. Just been out on a used 2019 mt09 doing a video and with the voice command being used to start and stop the recording on the action 3 it all works so well, no issues . The dji wireless mics are very good. I still use my gopro 8 on the bars looking back so it's not a major thing if it freezes. gopro sadly have lost me as a customer......now if only dji would bring out the 4 which moves the quality to above that of gopro....

Good audio and visual ,DJI really stepping up now !
Hi. Got them on both my helmets and they have been fine. chinmounts.com
Oof, I've had the receiver fall off on the side of the road. Wish there was a way to secure it better.
I use an elastic band 😂 tested to 140mph!
Great review on a fantastic day. Quick question, any pops or crackles at speeds over 50mph ? Cheers
How reliable is that usb c connection
No issues so far.👍
@@gsd32i cool found out I can just use a usb cable and move that receiver on the helmet to keep it out of Frame ..
@@MRSMI13Y90 thanks for update . I have the screen facing me and that way it also stays out of the shot . 👍
I actually found the dji camera to be better than the go pro. And also the mic sounded lovely!
Used mine again today , knocks the GoPro into the weeds👍
Did you end up putting on an elastic band to hold the receiver onto your camera afterwards?
Wondering if it will come off at higher speeds
Hi . You know what ? It was a bit of comfort thing for me ……. I would “suspect”that it is good enough for up to 140mph with the band in place 👍
@@gsd32i Thanks for your answer!
Sounds good!
Colour looks a little flat on the DJI but other than that I think it’s perfectly fine
Hello. Is the 32bit float on or off? And also, is the lowcut on or off?
Hi, this one the DJI Mic in the video is 24 bit mono and the low cut was off.
@ thank you!
Sorry could you tell me if you have the baffle in?
baffle in
How are you going to use the mic while raiding??
just like in the dry. I use silicone pieces and make the joints temporarily waterproof(ish)
Would these settings work on the GoPros?
I would give the settings a go and then simply listen to the audio , also check to see of your gopro has decibel level adjustment Trial and error as helmets etc are different.👍
Sounds good to me!
Action 3?
Just use 1 mic and then clap or beep the horn to synch them up so its easy to find the synch Pont when you come to edit on the computer.

Does the receiver hold ok into the dji action? Could it come loose and fall out?
I use an elastic band just in case.....Apparently at 140 mph its still ok!!!!
Great audio from both ends 😊. Much clearer, or is that just me? Camera quality from the DJI is good. If you record in RAW then you can colour grade in edit (sounds like I know what I’m talking about, but in reality I watched RUclips Videos) 😎.
Thanks for the tips!🤪
@@gsd32i I wouldn’t hold much credence with any tip I offer on tech stuff 😏
What if you went fast, would the mic fall, looks so sketchy on my insta36o with the cold shoe adapter
I now use the 3.5mm adapter from DJI .😁
HELLO :) I have some question .. I will start to motovloging with my Cbr650r but ı need the know if ı buy wiresless mic ( rode wireless me or rode wireless go 2 ) can ı take a clean woice ? because ı dont need use wired headset. can u help me about it
Hi. You have to go out and test the mic in different locations. Always useful if your mics have the ability to adjust the gain levels to reduce the wind noise etc.
The helmet cam/mic quality is great and essential. The muffler can mic not so much. Makes it hard to enjoy your commentary/video over the long term.
Good Morning, the overall volume of the video is a little low but very impressive and clear, the exhaust sounds really throaty.👍
Thanks , I can always change that in the edit and bump the level up a bit 👍

The DJi remote mic fits on the Media Mod so let’s see what happens.
The sound from the secondary -if you may- transmitter of the exhaust was insane mate!! It sounded really really good!! So would you suggest coughing up the money and buy the mic system?
