I'm coming back to vlogging after a 3 year break. I just wanted to say thank you for creating this amazing demonstration of how the DJI mic 2 works with the DJI action cam. Initially, i was leaning towards a Go Pro Hero 12 black - however, after seeing many vids as well as this one, DJI is clearly the best. Safe riding buddy.
3 things I love about your video, you must be an engineer, or ocd. You explicitly explain exactly what you want to know, clear to understanding, very simple to understand and take in. I love your RE classic and the sound it makes, I hand one also, the 350 and 500 both great bikes. You make the video great put together and interesting, many thanks, safe riding. Cheers
Just bought the Action 4, already have the Action 3 with the original mic system and adapter. Mic 2 on order and I already have the Bluetooth controller. Brilliant set up for moto vlogging and walking👍
Hi Marc , thanks so much for this clear video and explanation. I'm just about to purchase the Action 4 and nearly bought the Mic 2 pack with 2 transmitters and the receiver but now realise that I don't need the receiver part for motovloging , just connect the mic to the Action 4 by bluetooth . The mics are now available to purchase separately at £89 so if I want to connect another later that's perfect . I'm going to fit the mic 2 like yours on a magnetic tape inside the helmet , thanks for the -12 db setting tip. The remote was always a no brainer to add to my order , £69 but well worth it , no fiddling with the camera buttons ! The plastic button you added to the top of the Action 4 is also a great idea. Thanks again for bothering to upload this video , very timely for me and will help other motovlogers I'm sure. All the best from Southampton , UK. Paul
Thanks for covering this for us Motorcycle Riders. One thing to point out in my experience, the LCD Display and rec/pause red/green indicator on the DJI GPS Remote is not visible in sun light. Makes it hard to check the cameras recording or paused unless you have a view of the camera. The camera LED’s are just visible in day light. Also, there is a round 6hrs of battery life (the manual states this) for the DJI MIC2. You would need to be careful that the battery doesn’t go flat on longer rides as you will not record the audio only to find out later.
Excellent overview, especially the DJI Mic 2. I have the action 4, and I also have the action 3. Just checked and no firmware update as yet for the 3. Maybe soon.
Oh man 😅 I just purchased the DJI adapter 😂, I definitely like this new set up for sure ! Wireless without the receiver is hands down better ! The audio is also better
Excellent video Marc, really clear and well produced. I was about to buy all the adapters to hook up my DJI Mic (1) with the transmitter, but this beats it by far.
I love how you explain everything so clear! thank you. I'm looking to purchase the Action 4 and possibly the mic as well for my motovlog setup! (New Subscriber)
Thank you friend, I was already giving up because my DJI Mic 2 couldn't connect because I hadn't updated the firmware because I didn't know and after watching your video I'm now enthusiastic again and my DJI Mic 2 can connect. Thank you very much again.

@@Marc.Stones thanks! Have you encountered some static noise issues at all with ur dji mic 2? So far I love it just trying to dial everything in. Have a great day!
Excellent Marc, just got a action 4 & this is just what I was looking to achieve, well done. I have the same bike in the same colour too, great choice.
Perfect test, thank you so much for doing it. You may have just 'sold' me on DJI. So much easier and versatile with the wireless audio. It's painful to setup and sync audio for GoPro. I didn't realise the DJI cameras have the bluetooth mic sync built in - no need for a receiver! Excellent.
Hello there is it worth linking the Lavalier mic ,to one cam on the handlebars ,with the mic threaded along the frame to the back to catch exhaust sound, and mic2 in the helmet for spoken audio. Chris
I’m still stuck on OA3 and DJIMic. The way the receiver connects directly to the OA3 via USBC is not something that gives confidence. Next option is to mount the receiver on the camera (only with a cage) by hot shoe and then a wired connection to the camera. I’m looking forward to being able to buy the DJI MIC 2 and the OA4 and enjoy the convenience of wireless connections between all units. Biggest tip help is the adhesive magnetic tape. Thank you! I need that to mount the TX1 - DJI MIc inside the helmet. Much thanks for this video.
Excellent video. I was drawn to you by the DJI content, while watching, I wondered how it would fit with me riding my RE Classic 350, and then there you are riding one too 😊. I think the wired mic picked up the exhaust note better than the wireless, which is nothing new. I have seen motovloggers using the original wireless mics and thought that was the case with them too. Thanks for sharing, love the tip about the adhesive button extension, great idea.
@@Marc.Stonesdid you have a link for the record button “extension”, I would find it useful as I am away at the moment, and have no ruler to measure the diameter required. Cheers

I think you’re the first one who tried mixing up both helmet and exhaust sound at the same time, however I’m curious if I can connect up to 2 Dji mic 2 to 1 Dji action cam? As I’m planning to get the Dji mic 2 pack and Dji action cam 4 so one in helmet and another one in exhaust using 32 bit float so the exhaust sound will never clip

Thank you! Where did u buy the little button for the power button ? How did you fix your gps remote on the handle bar? I just bought all components…Osmo action 4, DJI mic 2 and gps control 😅
Good Morning Marc, thank you for a very informative and detailed video. I think the DJI Mic 2 sounded better than the RODE Lavalier. I will be trying the DJI Action 4 Camera with the DJI Mic 2 (Bluetooth) on my motorbike on Thursday and I would like to think I will receive the same quality you have demonstrated in this video. Ride Safe & All the Best.
Great review and walk through! Thank you! Unfortunately, I have some issues. I have that exact setup, DOA4 + Mic 2, and kept losing connection between the mic and the helmet mounted cam. Of course, didn’t see that until after the ride and come to find out that I had zero audio after 15 seconds into a 3 hour ride, with about 15 segments recorded on the DOA4. Probably user error, but twice as bad, as I was shooting a review of the BMW K1600 GTL for my local BMW dealership. Embarrassing beyond measure, I’ll have to go back and see whether I can take the bike out for another run. Apart from that, the image quality of the DOA4 is brilliant! I’ll like add a second DOA4 and the remote, and sell my Insta 360 X3.
Very useful video. I use the DJI Mic 2 with the Rode Lavaller fixed in the helmet but was not an ideal solution, the magnetic tape is a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing. The Osmo pocket 3 allows to connect 2 DJI Mic 2, just waiting for an update so the the Action 4 also allows this.
There is some clicking sounds from the wireless mic. Is it from the distortions? A lot of microphones are too sensitive for such tight spaces and close to mouth, I wonder if its not the same with DJI Mic 2.
Brilliant walkthrough! Thank you! I have the Mic2, the Osmo Action 4 is on the way. The magnetic tape. You just resolved the issue that bugged me the most! How to mount the Mic2? Thank you! Question, though: what about the battery life of the Mic2? If you’re going for a longer ride, turning the camera(s) on/off with the remote preserves the batteries. How do you go about preserving/extending battery life for the Mic2?
Hey, I would like to know how you use the Pocket 3 from Dji? Is it only for B-Roll/Pan shots or do you think you could get the Creator bundle + accessoeries and you it for a moto vlog too ?
Problem I came across is doing for example long videos with overlay. Longer video cuts in smaller clips usually approx 20 minutes in 4k and data cant be added to merged clips. It can only be added to individual clips and distance always starts from zero. So if you do whole day riding around and want to record distance it wont work. Well it will but every clip distance will start from zero even if it was continuous recording.
19:24 Thanks Marc, great video, I have also just purchased the Osmo Action 4 Adventure combo which came with Mic 2 as part of the pack from Amazon UK. Not had it on the bike yet as waiting for my ChinMount to arrive, but some initial tests done and really very impressed!!👏🏻
Hi Marc, just rewatched this video. Out of curiosity, would the OA4 allow you to use 2 X Mic 2’s at the same time (I doubt this) ? Also, I presume the Mic 2 is capable of storing audio on its own. So essentially, you could have the one in your helmet capturing your voice storing on the OA4, and the one in your back pocket capturing exhaust on it’s own, then link together in post, as you would if you used a zoom h1n or similar.
what if we connect RODE Go (Dji mic) wireless mic receiver output to a Bluetooth transmitter and connect the transmitter to Gopro12 via Bluetooth ? will we have a dual wireless mic setup ?
Mic 2 is on my to-buy list. I recorded 15 hours on trips with just ’wind noise’! Time is now for the mic 2. Can you tell us what editing program you are using? I’m such a ‘newbie’.. lol you put out a quality video with the content I have been seeking. JT in USA north of Chicago.
That's really helpful Marc. I've just upgraded to an Action 4 to do some Moto vlogging on my new Bullet 350 and I really just wanted the noise of the engine rather than me speaking, but the wind noise from the camera (even with a Windslayer cover on it) is too loud. I'll have to get the Mic 2 so I can stick it in a rucksack like you suggest. This video is exactly what I needed - great job 👍🏻
@@Marc.Stones How does it work with the quick record function? Does it connect to the camera instantly when you hit the record button when the camera is off, or is there a lag whilst it connects?
Hi Marc. One thing you didn't cover. How long will the battery last? When I am out I am out all day and I can't stop every time I want to turn the camera on and off to turn the mic on and off. How is this issue handled? I do like the sound of the Mic2 best on your set up. Thanks!
Great video and review - super clear! Haven't been motovlogging ever since rats ate out my cable but recently got the DJI Mic 2, so will defs set this up :). Question sir: What is your mount set up for the B cam? i.e. the camera that's shooting you from the handle bar. I see a circular mount at the base of the stick? if you could share what this product is that'd be much appreciated. cheers!
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing! Do you think mic 2 will work well with a bit louder sports bikes? Im vlogging for more than 7years already. Tried all the solutions but nothing seems to work for me. Is -12 db the lowest it can go?
Hi. Have you also tested using the DJI receiver connected to the X4? It's supposed to provide better audio quality. You would need to use the mic adapter and the DJI Mic 2 mount as well.
@@Marc.Stones yeah well for X4 in your case I mean DJI action 4 hehe: the thing was about using the receiver to see the difference. But maybe you don’t have it?
Very good solution. I have a question about remote control and power of the microphone. Did you let the mic always on and it records, when you use the remote control? I do a lot of moto off-road travel and have no time to charge the equipment over the day and it will be the perfect solution for my travel gear.
@Marc.Stones thanks for the quick reply. I had think so, but was not sure if the battery last long enough. But I watched other video also and with your answer I can imagine how to use it. So I need to change from Insta360 to DJI with my gear. 😉
Marc, first of all, greetings from a big fan in Portugal! ❤️❤️❤️ Great solution, thank you very much! I'm just wondering if you could give me a suggestion to capture the sound of my voice and the engine as well using just one camera. Maybe two mics? Please, advise. Again, thank you so much for everything. I follow your trips and tips and all. I hope you're happy with the BMW scooter. I love the X ADV and actually have just bought one. Let's. Hope for this bad weather leave soon and we go back to happy riding!
Hi Marc great video very informative thanks. Just got my first DJI Action 4 but struggling to press the buttons. Could you post a link to the rubber caps please as I can't find them anywhere. Quite excited waiting for my Mic2 to arrive. 😅 Thanks 👍
The mic 2 is much better. Just toss it on the magnetic strap and bingo .. you get your awesome sound . You can also use the voice prompt on the Osmo action , start recording, stop recording and shut down while driving. But the low side is, if you got a loud noise motorcycle, then it would be hard for the Osmo to hear you well. haha.
I am not sure if I did the right things, but I keep the DJI MIC 2 always on, because if I am set it up auto off, and then I need to switch it on again, and it's quite annoying for me, I just check from the rear mirror from my motorcycle, if the yellow light is not blinking, that is mean the Mic is already connected.
Thanks for the great video, I have been trying to work out a good setup with the rode wireless mics and gopro's, but this is infinitely cleaner and I'm already a big fan of the Dji gear, so might take the move away from GoPro and switch to Dji for my setups moving forward. I wonder if you can connect the camera to the mic receiver unit via Bluetooth, and therefore use the one action camera to capture two separate mics via the receiver. That would be brilliant. Thanks again, subscribed 😎 Just to add, the ability to quick release the camera is a game changer, I had been looking for a solution for hte GoPro, I have exactly the same frustration you mentioned with my Hero 8 black and media mod, meaning I had to go through the faff of unscrewing the mount and then detaching the media mod in order to switch out batteries due to the awful battery life. Quick release for the win ❤️🥳🎉
Hi, you can connect the receiver only via USB, but you can record a second audio signal directly inside the mic 2 and synchronize it in post. Cheers Marc
@@Marc.Stones guess I'll have to be clapping (or carry a mini clapper) everytime I start recording then 😜 they have started doing a bundle now where they do the Osmo Action 4 and the dual mic, receiver and charger case. Might be tempted to head that route and use the GoPro for some other purpose.
Thanks for the great info, this is such an awesome set up! For the GPS remote, are you able to start/stop recording for two cameras with one press? Or do you have to control one by one?
Thanks for this. It’s always easier to learn from other people’s experience 😉👍🏻

Hi, no you can only connect 1 mic. If you have 2 mic 2's the second one can record audio internally.
The new Action 5 Pro can do this.
@@Whatreally123sure about that? So I can have two different cameras with action 5 and two mic and link them up all together?
what if we connect RODE Go (Dji mic) wireless mic receiver output to a Bluetooth transmitter and connect the transmitter to Gopro12 via Bluetooth ? will we have a dual wireless mic setup ?
Vielen Dank für das gut erklärte Video, die zweite Camera ist das auch eine Action 4 ?
Genau 👍
Mic 2 is on my to-buy list. I recorded 15 hours on trips with just ’wind noise’! Time is now for the mic 2. Can you tell us what editing program you are using? I’m such a ‘newbie’.. lol you put out a quality video with the content I have been seeking. JT in USA north of Chicago.
Wind noise is always difficult to handle. I am using Final Cut on a Mac.
This was an excellent video! Thank you!
Thanks for your feedback. The Mic 2 works well to record the engine sound.
@@Marc.Stones How does it work with the quick record function? Does it connect to the camera instantly when you hit the record button when the camera is off, or is there a lag whilst it connects?
There is always a lag when it connects.
@@Marc.Stones How much in seconds would you say from when you hit the record button to the video and audio syncing up?
Difficult to say, this is different every time, sometimes fast about 2 seconds, sometimes 10-20 sec.
Lots of love and support it was informative and no harm in subscribing you keep the good work and happy to see a royal enfielder
Thanks for your friendly feedback :-)
Hi Marc. One thing you didn't cover. How long will the battery last? When I am out I am out all day and I can't stop every time I want to turn the camera on and off to turn the mic on and off. How is this issue handled? I do like the sound of the Mic2 best on your set up. Thanks!
Hi, the battery of the mic 2 lasts about 6 hours. Cheers Marc
Great video and review - super clear! Haven't been motovlogging ever since rats ate out my cable but recently got the DJI Mic 2, so will defs set this up :).
Question sir: What is your mount set up for the B cam? i.e. the camera that's shooting you from the handle bar. I see a circular mount at the base of the stick? if you could share what this product is that'd be much appreciated.
cheers!
I use a ram mount with a clamp to mount the DJI Action 4 on the handlebar.
Great job; you can hear the engine better with the wired mic, or is it just me ?
Such a great video. Thank you for sharing!
Do you think mic 2 will work well with a bit louder sports bikes?
Im vlogging for more than 7years already. Tried all the solutions but nothing seems to work for me.
Is -12 db the lowest it can go?
I think it will work, -12 db is the lowest.
hello Marc could you please tell us which filter did you use in this video?
Hi what do you mean with filter? Colors of the video?
@@Marc.Stones yes sir colors in this video? it looks cinematic
Thank you. I just got the MIC 2 too.
I am going to buy action 4 advantutre combo also mic2. Just tell me mic 2 battery timings??
Very informative. I am very interested in the plastic enhancements that you glued to your recording buttons, but I did not find any links
I use these ones: amzn.to/3U3wZ9e Cheers
Hi. Have you also tested using the DJI receiver connected to the X4? It's supposed to provide better audio quality. You would need to use the mic adapter and the DJI Mic 2 mount as well.
Hi, I do not have the X4 so I can not test it.
@@Marc.Stones yeah well for X4 in your case I mean DJI action 4 hehe: the thing was about using the receiver to see the difference. But maybe you don’t have it?
I do not have the receiver only the mic 2.
Very good solution. I have a question about remote control and power of the microphone. Did you let the mic always on and it records, when you use the remote control? I do a lot of moto off-road travel and have no time to charge the equipment over the day and it will be the perfect solution for my travel gear.
I always leave the mic on, the battery last between 5 and 6 hours which is enough for a day of riding.
@Marc.Stones thanks for the quick reply. I had think so, but was not sure if the battery last long enough. But I watched other video also and with your answer I can imagine how to use it. So I need to change from Insta360 to DJI with my gear. 😉
Thanks for great review! I was wondering, can you record an intercom conversation with your setup using DJI Mic2? (voice of a friend)
I did not find a solution so far.
Thanks for the comparison, I was looking for this video.. I requst pls do same thing with Gopro 12 black. Thank you. 😊
Hi, if you want to capture both sounds, this could be a solution for you: ruclips.net/video/ZDI1KriC44w/видео.html Have a safe ride!
Very good product. soon I will buy that for my moto travel Vlooging.
Hi Marc great video very informative thanks. Just got my first DJI Action 4 but struggling to press the buttons. Could you post a link to the rubber caps please as I can't find them anywhere. Quite excited waiting for my Mic2 to arrive. 😅 Thanks 👍
Hi, thanks :-) I use these ones: amzn.to/3U3wZ9e Cheers
This review made me buy this mic! Thank you so much Marc! Instantly subed! :)
Thanks 🙏🏻✌️
GoPro 10/11/12 or (7/8/9) can get 9Hr battery cages "RE-FUEL by Digi Power" i have them for my 2 x GP10's with Mic adapter & mini 3.5mm mic's
If I want to do the Dji mic 2 and use it with my full face mountain bike helmet and an action 4 what all do I need?
Thank you so much for broadening my horizon sir. Learnt so much from this video
Great video specially the sound of bike captured.
Thanks a lot :-)
Do you have a link to the gel thing to put on the button? I also have problems turn it on with gloves
I use these ones: amzn.to/3U3wZ9e Cheers
@@Marc.Stones thank you
I bought mic 2 yesterday , thx for this ep. To setting the mic with action 4 ❤❤❤
Enjoy the combo!
Thank you, your explanation is very helpful
Excellent video. What mount do you use to attach the camera to the front of your helmet? Thanks.
Hi, I am using a chin mount.
It sounds good in many reasons. Now I want to have both Osmo Action4 and Dji Mic2.
I also leave the mic on, the battery last for a day ride.
Thanks again, subscribed 😎
Just to add, the ability to quick release the camera is a game changer, I had been looking for a solution for hte GoPro, I have exactly the same frustration you mentioned with my Hero 8 black and media mod, meaning I had to go through the faff of unscrewing the mount and then detaching the media mod in order to switch out batteries due to the awful battery life. Quick release for the win ❤️🥳🎉
Hi, you can connect the receiver only via USB, but you can record a second audio signal directly inside the mic 2 and synchronize it in post.
Cheers
Marc
@@Marc.Stones guess I'll have to be clapping (or carry a mini clapper) everytime I start recording then 😜 they have started doing a bundle now where they do the Osmo Action 4 and the dual mic, receiver and charger case. Might be tempted to head that route and use the GoPro for some other purpose.
Thanks for the great info, this is such an awesome set up! For the GPS remote, are you able to start/stop recording for two cameras with one press? Or do you have to control one by one?
You can control 2 cameras with the remote. 👍🏻
