Thank you 🥰 I always think it’s a bit tricky to get away with headwear when you have short hair, but I suppose my fringe helps mitigate problem that a wee bit. i just went through the same discovery with my socks. i figured that i'll keep on with my 2.5 mm and co 60, and, if the socks are too big, i'll just wear a cheapo pair underneath - i'll be extra warm, the fit will be just fine, and all will be well 🧦 :). i tried using 2.25s, but they just didn't feel right - i loooove my 2.5s. your cardigan turned out really well. with the yarn that you're going to use for joji's shawl, it's going to be just beautiful. happy podiversary! 🥳

    You’re so sweet to mention to my Covid Icelandic disaster! Your Rosanna cardigan is gorgeous. I have not knit so much on my summer solstice cast on. I knit loads when I was sick (I have split for the sleeves) but when I look at it now, it reminds me of being sick and of missing my trip! I should really get on with it and at least finish it before the winter solstice rolls around. Love your episodes Allie 😘

      Maybe don’t finish it? If it reminds you of a tricky time then maybe it served it’s purpose (providing distraction and solace at the time), but now it’s time to move onto other things? Although, if I remember rightly, it has mohair in it…so perhaps not that easy to rip out 🤔

    Re the socks, if they have a heel flap and gusset construction, if you make the heel flap longer, it gives you more room in the arch area, making it easier to get over your heel (my husband has high arches so I usually do 20 slipped stitches, 40 row flap, and that has made it easier to get over his heel without sacrificing fit on the foot)

    • @TheThoughtfulKnitter
      @TheThoughtfulKnitter  2 года назад +1

      Ah, thanks Helen, that’s helpful ❤️ I think I probably do have a high instep. These were a fleegle heel, so there was no heel flap to adjust, but I’ll definitely remember that going forward 👍

    Hi Ailie 👋 As always a pleasure to watch your podcast and I love the cardigan you are wearing. Loved the colour immediately and then it dawned on me; I have the same yarn/colour way in stash, yay. Shame about your socks, but your sister must be pleased. I don't have the same experience with the inelastic fabric as you have, I will measure my gauge, maybe that's off and that's why it's not inflexible? 🤔 Your lugwarmer looks beautiful and your knitting is so neat! Been thinking of knitting a headband myself but I always seem to forget. Maybe this is the year I will make one. And the Cargill sweater is lovely, the colour is perfect for you! Love the no mohair version, the pattern really speaks for itself with this yarn. Hope I can join you next time for your podaversary!

    • @TheThoughtfulKnitter
      @TheThoughtfulKnitter  2 года назад +1

      Hey 👋😃❤️ How funny that we bought the same yarn in the same colourway; we must share very good taste!
      Goodness knows what I did with the Catharine Macaulay socks…it’s maybe just that I have a high instep or something. My sister found them tight to put on too though, so I think the fabric is stiffer than my usual at that gauge 🤷🏻‍♀️ They look great on her, and as I was knitting them I kept thinking that they would be perfect for inside her hiking boots, so it was meant to be ☺️
      Thanks for all your kind comments, hopefully you’ll see some of the knits in person at some point ❤️

    Hi Ailie, I enjoyed your episode as always. As a mental health nurse myself I appreciate you mentioning Creative Restoration. I have had a look at their website and now starting to explore some of the podcasts that are featured on the website. I am very much an advocate that we need to encourage everyone to have some form of hobby. There are so many benefits from having a hobby in our lives, as you will know. For some reason society lost the desire for having a hobby. Though I have to say during the last couple of years, that seems to have changed a little as lots of people had loads of time and have found hobbies again, which is great. I think we as a society work far too much and do not look after ourselves enough. Of course there are those of us to do try to look after ourselves. Though I think I might have too many hobbies but boy it is fun and handy to be able to do many different things, it means I never get bored. T x

      Aw, thanks T ❤️ I’m glad it struck a chord. I knew there would be at least one person who appreciated hearing about the Creative Restoration website and retreat!
      Aye, I’m completely with you on the fact that ‘overworking’ is glorified in our society…the problem is it’s not sustainable, and people just suffer. Hobbies are such a good way to practice self care. Although there’s the need for balance there too; I definitely need to reign myself in and spend more time on other interests than knitting - everything in moderation 👍😆

    The color of your cardigan is beautiful! I have a similar "sliding" problem with a raglan open cardigan. I'll be interested to see how you cope with it. Mine isn't really fixable because there's not enough fabric between the ribbed vertical edges. I only wear it a little. I may frog it someday. I really love your description of lining the headband! I'm all in for trying something like that. I'm working on a Plotulopi cardigan for my cousin right now. Since I started it earlier this summer, I'll not join your KAL; however, I've learned to add a small length of the unspun along with a thinning spot in the yarn in order to strengthen a stitch or two. Then all I'll need to do is to tidy up the ends. I'm making the Rusty Cardigan, a free Ravelry design. It's my second one. All the best as you head into cooler weather.

I just finished a couple of little projects, and I am waiting for a couple of the colors that I didn't have in stash. Not only could I not find a short enough zip but I decided it would be itchy. So I used crochet loops (on a tiny needle so they came out nice and dainty) and it looks lovely. You may need to experiment on a swatch you already have. Mind you, the other benefit of trying this is that it's very quick , to both do and to rip off again if it doesn't work out.
