As a sufferer of migraine about 6 times a year, I cannot imagine how drained you must feel with such frequency. I really hope your change of treatment gives you relief. Thank you for your wonderful videos, sharing your beautiful knitting projects. Judy, Nelson Bay, Australia
Hiya, nice to virtually meet you. As somebody who used to suffer awful migraines especially when my kids were young (although thankfully not as bad as yours), but as I grew older they have dissipated. I’m a young 70 retired nurse and hail from East Kilbride. Knitting since a young lassie and still learning. Thank you so much, enjoyed your post. Take care and I look forward to future posts.🤗
Aw, thanks Moira 💗 My Mum says the same about her migraines, they’ve eased post-menopause, so here’s hoping🤞 Isn’t knitting great? There’s always something new to try or learn!
You are an inspiration to us all , I didn’t know you were suffering so well done you on keeping up your podcast which ever way you do them ,I’m fascinated by your knitting and i will be looking out for you when ever you are able , a huge big hug to you ❤
Hello! I have to give Andrew credit for stearing me your way. I love seeing all your projects. They are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your health issues and please take care of yourself as migraines are so difficult. My son has them and he just needs a place to rest and recover when they occur. It will be a delight to get a notification when your podcast comes up but please don't feel pressure to record when you aren't feeling well. We will be here no matter what. Also just accept my comment and don't feel like you have to always respond. I really just like supporting podcasters and their beautiful work and tips. Happy knitting!
I finally had a moment to watch this. Your podcast is like a special treat each time . I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you on the why I knit podcast. Such a good show! I, too, suffer from migraines and have played the medication, food, and stress management game. So consuming! I am thankful for knitting as an activity I can do more often them not, and I am thankful for the community of knitters I am able to connect with. I'm grateful you are a part of that!
I’m grateful your part of the community too Meg ❤️ Och, sorry to hear about the migraines, they’re a real blight. Thank goodness for low stress pastimes like knitting to get us through! Thanks for watching x
So lovely to see and hear you again Ailie. Your in Mty thoughts and prayers as you change meds. I love the jumper your wearing it looks so cosy. What a great idea for a hot water bottle cover. Thanks for sharing that. Take your time and see you again soon.🥰
Thank you for your calm episode today. Lovely to see your knits. A couple of years ago I made my grandsons hot water bottles from 2 of my husbands commercially produced jumpers. I shrunk them in the washing machine and completed the process in the tumble drier. I made a pattern by drawing around the bottle. Three pieces so that there was a flap to get the bottle in and out. Using a jeans needle I managed to stitch it on the machine. Take care of yourself. 🇬🇧
Lovely to hear you on the Why I Knit podcast. You came across really well! For anyone who doesn't listen...go and find the podcast wherever you download your podcasts, I am sure you will enjoy it and find it useful!
Hello, I have suffered with migraines and totally understand. We are all individuals and relief is the objective. Take care of yourself and I will look forward to seeing you again. I enjoyed your visit. 🤗
Andrew sent me over. So glad he did. Love your voice and accent. So relaxing. I can totally do without any world events. Knitting is a great escape from all the propaganda. Sorry you're unwell. I pray you will feel better soon.
I’m here because of the Baptist minister. It now makes sense why he is so good at putting together an interesting presentation. Lovely man. He recommend you to his viewers as you said and so far, I’m all over the sweater you are wearing. WOW. It is very feminine and right now the way knits are becoming. Its so much fun to be a part of making my perfect wardrobe. Just like my father talked about his ancestors doing.
Hi Ailie, as I said previously, only found you a few weeks ago, went back and watched your episodes. Finally caught up and can honestly say have enjoyed them all. I like and respect your honesty and uniqueness. I look forward to coorie n in in the future. Thank you for the yarn and patterns ideas, wish I had the time to do them all! Take care 💐
You can also take old knitted sweaters (from the Thrift Shop preferrably), cut out the shape of your toaster, felt a nice design on the front of flowers of whatever you like, blanket stich the edges and make a delightful toaster cover! The sleeves you might be able to use for mug cozies or a flashlight cover! Cheers from Western 🇨🇦!
I enjoyed your podcast. I just found Andrew’s podcast and he mentioned yours and now have found you! I am a Scottish descendant and have been to Scotland several times and can’t wait until the next. I currently live in Wisconsin USA. Hope that your health improves. 🤗
Hello dear Ailie - I was so very pleased to see your new podcast come up - I always enjoy your projects - I adore the socks but yes the colourwork does make it tricky!! I’m really enjoying one of my current projects for my 21 month old granddaughter - it’s a farmyard scene with beautiful white sheep (no Australian sheep are white btw - more a roll in the dirt beige 😮 - I’m so loving seeing the different objects appear! And yes Jen in South Australia - I’m totally with you - although I’m just about as far south as you can go in Tasmania we’ve had 37 and 35 in the last few days - yuck-thank heavens for air conditioning in the car today!!
I hope your medications changes aren't too difficult for you and that they will be a cure. I love listening to your soft, calming voice and seeing your beautiful knitting. Be well soon!
Always enjoy your podcasts, beautiful makes. Thank you for the new people you mention, will take a look. Take care of yourself, hope meds help with your health. x
So sorry about your health issues. I hope your new medication helps. I really enjoy your podcasts and your friendly smile. I felted one of my son's jumpers - not on purpose- and made it into a hwb cover. I did blanket stitch it together, but it was hard work. Make sure you use a strong needle 😀
I just wanted to comment to let you know that I’ve finally been able to watch all of your journals and I enjoy ‘visiting’ with you. I think I can say that we Americans are honored when you use the term “sweater.” It feels familiar and comfortable. I do hope that you’ve been feeling better the last couple months and that you are enjoying milder weather. It’s cold and rainy here today in central Virginia, USA. I am enjoying some knitting with your podcast. Oh! and I took part in Andrew’s Gansey KAL, too. I made a pillow cover and actually won a prize! (I haven’t received it yet … 🐌mail.)
It's been lovely spending time with you. I was working on my test knit of the Chainmail Slipover for Hanna of Herbgarden Knitwear while I was watching. It's going to be a beauty that is full of texture. Thanks for sharing the hot water bottle idea. It's a good one. You could also look for wool sweaters at a charity shop and use them in the same way. Take care of yourself and we will see you again when you are ready. By the way, I listened to the audio podcast that you were on and enjoyed it very much. 🙂
Aw, thanks for listening to that, it was nice to have a chat with Mia about all things knitting. Your Chainmail Slipover sounds lovely, textured knits are such a delight 💕
Gees sorry to hear about the all too frequent migraines. I’ve had them for years, and happy to say once I got older (menopause) they became less frequent. Do what you need to do, I’m just happy when you post a video! Good thoughts coming from Colorado, Kathy
Thanks Kathy, I’ve heard that from a lot of folks about migraines improving post menopause (family members included). And yet my GP still tries to tell me there’s no evidence of a link with hormones…he is a male of course 🙄 Thanks for much for your understanding about my posting schedule (or lack of) 💕
Hi Ailie, Andrew sent me your way, 🤓🧶 and I’m so glad he did! Truly enjoyed your podcast. Loved the felted idea! On a non-crafty note, I can relate to the chronic health challenges, and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. 💚 Good luck with treatment changes. I now have all your past videos to catch up with in the meantime. 😁💚🧶
Wishing you the best of luck with the medication changes. Migraines are dreadful. I have seen so many suffer from them. Thanks for the tip re: Andrew's podcast. I will give that a go today. Your finished projects are lovely, as always!
I stumbled upon Andrew and hopped over to your channel. I really enjoy your style and found the podcast very soothing while I was knitting of course 😃. The idea on using old sweaters for felted items was great. I have a couple of them that don’t excite me anymore and considered making slippers with them. Looking forward to more of your podcasts.
Welcome Suzanne 💗👋 I’m so glad you’ve joined us. It was really fun felting the old jumper, although I definitely overdid it with a full hour at 60°C in the machine…the fabric was so dense that once I finished sewing up my hot water bottle cover it was useless, because it didn’t let enough heat through! Slippers sound like a good idea though 👍
So sorry for chronic migraines have known several with this hoping new meds help. Your love of knitting shines through and your pattern choices and works are lovely!
So sorry about the migraines. You are always so cheerful and your knitting is inspiring! I suffered migraines which lessened with menopause! I hope that maybe that happens for your too!
Thanks so much, that’s kind of you to say 💗 I’ve had many comments about there being hope of a reprieve post menopause…I only wish there was something that could be done sooner, as I have a good while to wait until then. At least there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel though ☺️
Hi Ailie, great to see you again and another lovely Podcast. Those socks are gorgeous I could see my wee Grandson wearing them. Your polo insert I great too looks lovely and cosy. I bought the Cargill pattern and on my list to do . I'm making my first jumper in the round just now, The Lento. I live in Central Scotland and use the word Jumper too . I'm glad you have found a use fir your jumper, it's a shame to waste it completely. I like the look of the Granny go round cardi too so will add that ro my list. Sorry to hear that you have been suffering with migraines, must be awful . My sister has them they can take a lot out of her. I returned to knitting and crochet after bring diagnosed with Heart Failure, I often get fatigued and have brain fog, forgetting words etc. You take the time to get yourself better, I hope the new medication helps. I like the sound of the Podcast re knitting , I for one have found knitting to be therapeutic. I forgot about the coorie in mal but have been working on items so will add them in. Take care and wishing you well with your health Xx🥰
Hello, Thank you for this lovely episode. I found you through Andrew and I found Andrew through Ruth loves to knit. It’s great that you recommend one another. I really hope your medication changes help with your migraines. Blessings!
Nice to see you back, Ailie! Your Granny Go Round cardigan is coming along so well. I'm still working on mine as well. I was at the button band part, and I just couldn't do it because I had to think too much, just like you. So I decided to go on to the sleeves and then go back to the button band at the end. I did manage to weave in all those ends though! It took hours. So sorry to hear about the migraines. That is awful. I hope you get better soon. 💞
That’s was such a good idea, why didn’t I think to do that?! I’ve started the sleeve now, but I still haven’t sewn in any ends 🫣 Thanks for your well wishes 💕
Hello from Copenhagen. I love your knitting and your Scottish accent 😉 I have by accident washed a sweater in the machine (more than once) , and after, I have cut out an oval, sewed the edges with mattress stitches and used it as a seating mat, I can have in my backpack
Always such a lovely time catching up with you dear Ailie 😘 Your Braids of Grass looks soooo beautiful on you and really has me itching to cast mine on 😍 I am 100% with you on the prioritization of knitting over end-weaving, but I do love your idea of devoting time each week to get it done. Perhaps Weave-in Wednesdsys are in my future 😂 Love your idea to repurpose a sweater you're not happy with and look forward to seeing how your waterbottle cover turns out 🤗 Sending you virtual hugs and positive wishes as you navigate through your med changes ❤️❤️❤️
🥰 Thanks so much Nikki 🤗❤️ You’re doing well getting through that long ‘to watch’ list! I really do appreciate you choosing to spend a wee while with me ☺️ Ha, ‘weave-in Wednesday’ could be a thing! You could start a # 😆
Lovely episode and the colour of the blue cowl is perfection on you . I too put things off like button bands and sewing on buttons and darning in ends .I can always find something more important. Lol. My way round this is to bite the bulletin and sit down with a great podcast .do it and I then feel so good ! May I suggest a new to me podcast Stitches and Cream from Falmouth . Her first podcast but very good. I suffer from cluster headaches and I understand the brain fog but the feeling when the pain goes is wonderful . Hope the new med helps.
Ooft, cluster headaches must be awful 😣 Thanks for the recommendation, I think she maybe popped up on my suggestions the other day so must check her out 👍💕
Your Braids of Grass is gorgeous Ailie! It is a lovely pattern isn't it? I've been in a dilemma as to whether to cast on my second, this time in Lettlopi, because spring is just around the corner (although we've got snow forecast for the coming days here in the Basque Country 😳), but I couldn't resist after seeing yours! Take care, and I hope the migraines improve - it must be a terribly debilitating condition. 🥰
It’s always a pleasure to join you Ailie whenever. I totally understand your pre and post energy levels following a migraine and brain ‘mush’ ! I hope your new medication helps. What a great idea for your felted jumper,Brilliant 👏I may just be copying you ! Here in the South of the Uk we have the same saying regarding May too😊
Oh wow, really? I think cloot is a Scottish word, so is the saying just the same but with slightly different words? It was so fun felting the jumper! I think I’d try a lower temperature next time though because the resulting fabric is very thick and stiff 👍
First. Go the jumper cohort. Being Australian I learnt British terminology and also am not comfortable with sweater. I mean who wants to think about “sweat” in relation to our much loved made garments lol. And most importantly may you have plentiful “well” moments over the coming months and know there is loving energy being sent your way from all over the world. Take care xox
Take care of yourself. Lots of migraines in our family - my brother and daughter have had lifelong struggles with them. Medications can really help but it takes awhile to find the right one. Hopefully your new treatment will help.
Thanks for a great episode. I just came over here, because Andrew recommended you. Thanks for the felting recommendation. Interesting to see what it looks like at this stage. I'm in Vanuatu at the moment but at some point I want to knit up and felt a bag with some wool I have in storage, in Scotland. I'm knitting on a few things, watching bits and pieces of this podcast as I never get 40mins to watch podcast episodes in 1 go, with multiple interruptions by my 2 young daughters. This last 5mins have been sock knitting! All the best with the change in meds. Happy knitting!
Wow, Vanuatu! The actual other side of the world!!! Welcome to the clan ❤️ Hopefully you can follow my inane musings between childcare duty interruptions 😉 I love the idea of knitting and felting a bag, do share if you ever get around to it x
I am so with you on the color work socks. I’m working on The Magic Toadstool socks by Stone Knits for a dear friend. I’m on my fourth try. I texted her earlier this week to tell her that if they didn’t work this time, I’m just sending her a picture of what she was supposed to be getting! 🤣
Lovely to see you and your lovely makes! I’m sure I’m not the only one who will be keeping your in our thoughts as you work with the new meds. May it all go the very best possible 💖 I understand about the erratic recording, I definitely do it too; but I think most folks are fine with it, & it’s us ourselves who fret over it. Sending you gentle hugs! 🤗
You’re so right Susan! I enjoy your episodes whenever they pop up and never think twice about it! It totally plays on my mind though when it’s mine…especially when I can’t record for ages and the longer I leave it the more I have to talk about, so I have to start figuring out what to chat about and what to leave out 🫣 Thanks so much for watching, and for your thoughts and well wishes 💕💗💕
@The Thoughtful Knitter LOL, I get it! In fact today I decided to record a video where I just *quickly* show my Jan & Feb knits, because I felt like they were so many it was making me anxious about podcasting 😄
It was a happy surprise to see this episode waiting for me! I love the idea of felting things that need to be repurposed. The socks are adorable, but I can see why color work socks would be difficult. Finally, I finished my big, beautiful Hiraeth Shawl, and some color work mitts. I now have a fingering weight jumper on the needles, along with an Abundance Cowl. I hope you can soak up the good wishes coming your way (we all go through stuff, and need the good energy of others to keep flowing through). I hope the changes in treatment are effective, and you are feeling like your best self soon!
Lovely to hear from. Sorry about your health and I do hope new meds assist. Love your knits and re-purposing of jumper. Amused by 7-10 degrees being spring. In Melbourne I’d have thick layers on. Take care.
I'm so sorry you are suffering with migraines. I hope your new meds help. I love the idea of reusing old projects. I have a sweater of my hubby's that was accidentally slightly felted, and I probably need to felt it even more. Can you please tell me what you'll be making with the felted fabric? I was hoping to perhaps make some sort of project bag. Thanks for a lovely podcast! Bring on Spring!!! 💗🌺🌞
I’m making a hot water bottle cover with mine, but somebody in the comments has mentioned using felted garments to make seating mats for outside which sounds like a great idea. A project bag would be lovely too 👍
Sorry to hear of the migraines. You do remarkably well! I forget words and stumble all over the place as I live with a constant low-level brain fog that is chronic depression related. Knitting is great therapy and creates escape and relief along the way. 'It's a sair fecht', as they say. Keep on going! 😊
My grandad used to say that 🥰 He was from Argyll originally, and has been gone for over 20 years, but I always smile when I hear ‘it’s a sair fecht’. Brain fog is no fun at all, I’m sorry to hear that you have that to contend with 😕 You also do remarkably well 👏 Knitting truly is like free relaxation and therapy. I think you might like the Why I Knit audio podcast if you ever have time to listen. It’s people from all walks of life and backgrounds chatting about how knitting helps them with their well-being, all having discovered it separately and normally quite by accident. It’s an affirming and uplifting listen.
@@TheThoughtfulKnitter yeah, I've heard you speak about the podcast, but still to get round to watching...will make an aim for it later on! Actually, as well as brain fog, the fact I was brought up speaking Ayrshire Scots is another reason I stumble about spoken English lol Inasmuch as there were some Wickers I struggled to pick up, I'm sure they'd have the same struggle with me an ma ain tong!
@@albanachknitter YES! It’s like being bilingual. Constantly having to translate into ‘acceptable’ English takes extra energy and effort. I call it my BBC Scotland voice 😆 The way I speak on these videos is definitely not how I speak to my friends and family…or anyone else who’s native to the area! You do a fine rendition of Burns though with that accent 👍
I'm with you Allie.. most of us call them jumpers not sweaters here in Australia though I think there are some who do say sweaters. Looking forward to whenever you can podcast. All the best...Carol.
Hi Ailie. Lovely podcast. Take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon. Daily migraines sound awful. I absolutely love the polo neck collar pattern. I must make one of those 😊
Hi Ailie, your podcast was just what I needed this evening. I'm knitting on a Twigs jersey - I've wanted to make this pattern since I begun knitting and feel confident enough in my abilities now. I grew up North of Inverness, my mam is from the Black Isle and Dad from Huntly and we always called woolen garments a jersey. Whenever I read about jumpers I always considered that an English term so it just goes to show the variation, even within a region. Like you though I persist with the words I was brought up with, I feel it's important somehow! I had to laugh along with you when you showed your shrunken jersey - imagine if that had been done unintentionally :( I really like your crochet cardigan, such beautiful colours. I've always had occasional ocular migraine but during menopause they became much more frequent and I then realised how exhausting they were. I can't imagine how debilitating yours must be. I really hope the new treatments work for you and that there are not too many side-effects. Enjoy the spring, the nights are really drawing out now. x
Yes, jersey and gansey are other words I use for the same thing. I’m wondering if I’ve maybe ended up saying jumper more due to the influence of tv/internet/living elsewhere 🤔 I make a conscious effort to hold onto my mother tongue as it’s fast disappearing…I was born right at the beginning of the Millenial generation, so globalisation has had a big impact during my adult life; I definitely notice that those younger than me use far fewer dialect words than I do. Mind you, I’ve somehow become someone who says ‘yarn’ instead of ‘wool’, but that’s 100% due to through repeated exposure in the knitting community! The lengthening days are such a joy, I love Spring 🌱
It is always lovely to have your company and to see your projects, even the "unprojects" - it must have felt good to take the plunge and stick that pretty yellow jumper into the washing machine to turn it into something useful. I am crocheting a blanket for your CoorieinMAL; I am not a crocheter but I am finding it so very addictive and definitely a yarn-eating project. Good luck with the new medications, I hope they work for you, and don't worry one bit about having the time or energy to film for episodes. We'll be there when you can podcast. Take care!
It’s ridiculous how excited I got about putting the jumper in the washing machine! It’s proving hard work to get a needle through the fabric though so I think I might try a lower temperature next time 😆 So glad you’re trying something new for the MAL, crochet is so quick and satisfying 💕
Thanks for a great episode - you are definitely not just talking to yourself and the camera! We are still in summer here in the Western Cape, South Africa, and summer is my worst season. Too hot to do anything much! I have been itching since about November last year to knit a lightweight top out of a nice sport-weight merino/linen yarn I have, but it has been just too hot - sweaty hands and irritability are the order of the day. Roll on the cooler days of autumn :-) Holding thumbs for your new meds.
Ailie how debilitating. Hoping things improve for you. Really loved your collar and colour. Look forward to when you manage a podcast again. I am enjoying a variety of crafts. The daylight hours are slowly lenthening here in SE 🙏😀
Always happy to see u back here however u are able. Migraines are pretty debilitating and I’m thankful to only have had a handful in my lifetime. Hope that gets sorted soon for u. Lovely lovely dickie and omg, I gasped at the felted thing that used to be an amazing traveling twisted cable sweater. Braid of grass added to my queue while watching. Take care of yourself!
So sorry to hear you're dealing with migraines. I can relate, I had continual migraines. I wanted to crawl under a rock and stay there. When I turned 40, it was like someone flipped a switch and the migraines were gone. Now I have other chronic pain issues. I'll be thinking of you.
Thanks Marie 🥰 I’m already the wrong side of 40 and they’re only getting worse, hopefully the meds will help ease them a bit and maybe in a few years I’ll have the same experience as you🤞💕
@@TheThoughtfulKnitter I'm sorry you're on the wrong side of 40, my oldest and youngest daughters are too on the wrong side of 40 and still dealing with migraines. I hope all the migrainers can find something to help them.
You just made my Saturday night even better. I hope the new medication really helps and quickly so you can have some of normal life back (not that life with a chronic illness is ever normal).
Yes Andrew led me back to you ! Today you gave me a warm memory- my grandmother emigrated from Scotland to the US as a young girl - and she always said that about not changing your clothes until May was over ( in Scots Gaelic I guess). Well we always argued: “This is New Jersey, not Scotland! “ Your knitting is just perfection BTW.
Thank you the effort you put into this Podcast. I love catching up with you and it doesn’t matter how frequent or infrequent that is - it’s a happy little surprise when your podcasts pop up and I’ve been watching from the beginning. You hate winter like I hate the heat of an Aussie summer! We’re heading into a 5-day heatwave here in South Australia - average temp over the next 5 days will be >38C or >101F……bring on winter! I’ll still be knitting though 😂
If feel the same way. I am in the Western Cape, South Africa and we have had a hot Feb. I am so done with summer and I am looking forward to the arrival of autumn!
Beautiful work! Also, my grandmother had a very deep Irish accent and when she said "sweater" it sounded so funny. "Jumper" sounds so much better. Finally, as a fellow migraineur, I do hope you find relief soon.
It is always a pleasure to see your podcast, I get inspired by your knits. Found the Pelto collar quite appealing. Take good care of yourself, get well soon !
Andrew cheerily sent me your way. So happy he did so! I am so pleased to meet you. Thank you for a lovely time spent with you and all your nice subscribers.
Dear Ailie! Do hope a medication switch will do the thing and you'll be treading a lighter road soon. Casting on several knits at the moment, hoping that some of them will be finished. Struggling to get my knitting going the way I'd like, Just need to carry on, I guess. Sending warm thoughts your way❤❤ Ylva
Good luck with future. Hope all goes well. I am happy to see you anytime. I also call them jumpers. I just translate in my head whenever I hear that😂 Also, that hot water bottle idea is brilliant! Take care.
Lovely to see you back, but sorry to hear about your health problems - I hope the new meds work and your problems resolve themselves. I am always happy to see a new podcast from you, but please take care of yourself as a priority, and only record when you are feeling up to doing so.
I always love seeing your podcast pop up. But from personal experience, I would say do whatever is best for you to get back on your feet. Chronic migraines are hugely debilitating, and I hope your new preventative approach works for you. We'll be here whenever you feel able to return. All the best.
I recently caught the Why I Knit episode with the interview with you. I thought it was really great - well done for being brave and talking about your health challenges. Love Liz x
Thank you! It didn’t feel brave, it just felt like a nice chat. I suppose that’s why Mia is a therapist, she definitely gets the best out of her guests 👍 I’m so glad you enjoyed it ☺️❤️
Thanks for a lovely podcast. I hope your new regime helps to aleviate your illness, it is very very hard to not have access to your own brain, I know..... been there, done that. Sending you lots of good and lovely thoughts, and hoping for the best for you. Untill next episode, take very good care of yourself.
Hi Ailie, thanks for the audio podcast recommendation, I'll check Louise out 😊 I'm still knitting away on Christmas gifts 🙈 I hope you find a treatment that helps you to manage your symptoms and live well 🌞
Roxanne Richardson has a channel here on RUclips and she does a whole series on how to knit socks to fit more precisely if you're interested. Great to see you back and I was tickled when Andrew said he watches you.
ailie, i do hope, now a month into your med changes, that you’ve been able to settle on the right one(s) successfully. whoever invented migraines was a cruel so-and-so. i had migraines for almost 50 years (arghhh), and i’m now about 4 years migraine-free, so i’m here with my fingers crossed for you. hang in there 😉.
i’m sorry that you haven’t found the “magic pill” yet. mine came in the form of a simple iron pill, oddly enough. medicine is weird, and it can take a while to get to the right place. if you and your doctor are persistent and willing to go the extra mile, you’ll get there. i know you’ve got the stamina to hang on, but i hope something comes your way soon! 🤞🏼☀️
Thanks Tammy, I did think about doing this but it wouldn’t have helped with the sleeves which were too tight (nor the bobbly yarn). I’d definitely consider it for other garments though 👍
Jumper is what we call them in New Zealand - sweater sound so wrong. I hope it never catch on here like some words are starting to - like whats wrong with chips fries sounds unhealthy!!! And we love our chips!!!
Please continue to say Jumper! Every time I hear someone from your part of the world say sweater I feel like we (North Americans) are taking your language from you.
As a sufferer of migraine about 6 times a year, I cannot imagine how drained you must feel with such frequency. I really hope your change of treatment gives you relief. Thank you for your wonderful videos, sharing your beautiful knitting projects. Judy, Nelson Bay, Australia
Even once a year is too often Judy, they’re so debilitating! Sending you well wishes too 💕
Hiya, nice to virtually meet you.
Aw, thanks Moira 💗 My Mum says the same about her migraines, they’ve eased post-menopause, so here’s hoping🤞
Isn’t knitting great? There’s always something new to try or learn!
You are an inspiration to us all , I didn’t know you were suffering so well done you on keeping up your podcast which ever way you do them ,I’m fascinated by your knitting and i will be looking out for you when ever you are able , a huge big hug to you ❤
Bless you 🥰 That’s so kind, thank you Helen ❤️❤️❤️
That’s so kind and encouraging 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you! 💕💗💕
Andrew….. also sent me! ♥️
@@MYROCKOROCKO thanks for coming! 💕
🥰🥰🥰❤️
Thank you for your calm episode today. Lovely to see your knits. A couple of years ago I made my grandsons hot water bottles from 2 of my husbands commercially produced jumpers. I shrunk them in the washing machine and completed the process in the tumble drier. I made a pattern by drawing around the bottle. Three pieces so that there was a flap to get the bottle in and out. Using a jeans needle I managed to stitch it on the machine. Take care of yourself. 🇬🇧
Sounds great! I hadn’t thought of using a jeans needle 👍 I’ve already started on the blanket stitching and it’s hard going!
Och, thanks for the wee mention :)
You’re most welcome 😊 Your channel is an absolute treat - totally refreshing and authentic 👏
Lovely to hear you on the Why I Knit podcast. You came across really well! For anyone who doesn't listen...go and find the podcast wherever you download your podcasts, I am sure you will enjoy it and find it useful!
🥰 Thanks Caroline! I was so happy to be invited on the podcast, and the chat itself was lovely - like a chinwag with a friend ❤️
Hello, I have suffered with migraines and totally understand. We are all individuals and relief is the objective. Take care of yourself and I will look forward to seeing you again. I enjoyed your visit. 🤗
☺️ Thank you! 💕
Andrew sent me over. So glad he did. Love your voice and accent. So relaxing. I can totally do without any world events. Knitting is a great escape from all the propaganda. Sorry you're unwell. I pray you will feel better soon.
Welcome to the clan Valerie 💕💗💕 Thanks for the well wishes and prayers, they’re most appreciated!
Welcome! I’m so glad you’ve joined us, and that you’re enjoying knitting your own garments 😃
Take care 💐
Aw, that’s so kind 🥰 And we’ll done getting through all that time with me and my musings! Thanks so much Moira x
That's a great idea! This might be a new crafting rabbit hole for me!
I enjoyed your podcast. I just found Andrew’s podcast and he mentioned yours and now have found you! I am a Scottish descendant and have been to Scotland several times and can’t wait until the next. I currently live in Wisconsin USA. Hope that your health improves. 🤗
Welcome to the clan Michelle! I’m so glad you found your way here 💕💗💕 I hope you don’t have to wait too long until your next trip across the pond🤞
😆 ‘roll in the dirt beige’👌 Ooft, that’s far too hot!!! Sending cooling air your way 💕
I hope your medications changes aren't too difficult for you and that they will be a cure. I love listening to your soft, calming voice and seeing your beautiful knitting. Be well soon!
☺️💗💕
Always enjoy your podcasts, beautiful makes. Thank you for the new people you mention, will take a look. Take care of yourself, hope meds help with your health. x
☺️ Thanks so much! 💕
I’m finding this out! I’ve done half of it and had to take a break to let my poor hands recover 🤣
Such a late reply! SORRY! How exciting that you won a prize on Andrew’s Gansey motif KAL. I’m sure it’s made it’s way to you by now 💕
It's been lovely spending time with you.
Good thoughts coming from Colorado,
Kathy
🥰 Welcome to the clan Rachel! I’m so glad you’ve joined us 💕
Wishing you the best of luck with the medication changes. Migraines are dreadful. I have seen so many suffer from them. Thanks for the tip re: Andrew's podcast. I will give that a go today. Your finished projects are lovely, as always!
Thanks Kathleen ☺️ I hope you enjoy Andrew’s channel, I think it’s a breath of fresh air 👍
Thank you so much Susan! 🥰❤️
I have been watching you since the very first episode. I love your knitting talent. Hope the medication change works wonders. Stay strong.
Aw, thanks Jan, I’m so glad to have you following along ❤️
Definitely do add them in, I’d love to see what you’ve been making 😃
Thanks for your kind and encouraging comments, they’re really appreciated 💗
Your creations are indeed "Thoughtful," as are your ideas and content. Heal. Be well. It's okay to be self-compassionate. 💕
Aw, thank you ☺️🥰❤️
Hello, Thank you for this lovely episode. I found you through Andrew and I found Andrew through Ruth loves to knit. It’s great that you recommend one another. I really hope your medication changes help with your migraines. Blessings!
Aw, welcome into the clan! 💕💗💕 I love both of their podcasts, so I see I’m in good company!
Sending love and thoughts your way. Take good care xx🇺🇸
🥰 Thanks so much!
Ailie, I hope your new medications work well and that you feel better very soon. Love your podcasts! Jane
🥰💗💕
Looking forward to seeing you in the ‘Granny go Round Cardigan’ the colour looked so good when you held it up ❤
Aw thanks, it’s definitely fun!
I’ve started the sleeve now, but I still haven’t sewn in any ends 🫣
Thanks for your well wishes 💕
Hello from Copenhagen. I love your knitting and your Scottish accent 😉
I have by accident washed a sweater in the machine (more than once) , and after, I have cut out an oval, sewed the edges with mattress stitches and used it as a seating mat, I can have in my backpack
That is such a great idea!! Thank you for sharing it 😃 Sending my hellos to you over the North Sea 💕
Perhaps Weave-in Wednesdsys are in my future 😂 Love your idea to repurpose a sweater you're not happy with and look forward to seeing how your waterbottle cover turns out 🤗
Sending you virtual hugs and positive wishes as you navigate through your med changes ❤️❤️❤️
🥰 Thanks so much Nikki 🤗❤️ You’re doing well getting through that long ‘to watch’ list! I really do appreciate you choosing to spend a wee while with me ☺️
Ha, ‘weave-in Wednesday’ could be a thing!
Thanks Angelica ☺️ You could always wear it outdoors instead of a coat? It really is a lovely pattern, and the fit is great 💗
It’s always a pleasure to join you Ailie whenever.
Slight variation in South Wales , cloot is clout but exactly the same meaning regarding weather !
@@annparsons6238 how fun, thanks for letting me know 😃
🤣 I’m with you on the ‘sweat’ connotations! Thanks so much Sue, I’m soaking up all the well wishes and good energy from you lovely lot 🥰❤️
Take care of yourself. Lots of migraines in our family - my brother and daughter have had lifelong struggles with them. Medications can really help but it takes awhile to find the right one. Hopefully your new treatment will help.
Thanks so much 💕💗💕
Thanks for a great episode.
🤣😂🤣 I love that!!! It’s the thought that matters, at least she knows you’re REALLY suffering for your art with her socks!
Wishing you all the best with your upcoming treatment.
🥰 Thanks so much! 💕
It totally plays on my mind though when it’s mine…especially when I can’t record for ages and the longer I leave it the more I have to talk about, so I have to start figuring out what to chat about and what to leave out 🫣
Thanks so much for watching, and for your thoughts and well wishes 💕💗💕
@The Thoughtful Knitter LOL, I get it! In fact today I decided to record a video where I just *quickly* show my Jan & Feb knits, because I felt like they were so many it was making me anxious about podcasting 😄
@@wildcottageknitting 😆 looking forward to hearing about them x
The hot water bottle project is fascinating. Can’t wait to see it finished. 🧶
Thanks Barb, I’m looking forward to sharing my progress 😃
It was a happy surprise to see this episode waiting for me! I love the idea of felting things that need to be repurposed. The socks are adorable, but I can see why color work socks would be difficult. Finally, I finished my big, beautiful Hiraeth Shawl, and some color work mitts. I now have a fingering weight jumper on the needles, along with an Abundance Cowl. I hope you can soak up the good wishes coming your way (we all go through stuff, and need the good energy of others to keep flowing through). I hope the changes in treatment are effective, and you are feeling like your best self soon!
Thanks so much, I’m soaking up all the positivity 💕💗💕
Lovely to hear from. Sorry about your health and I do hope new meds assist. Love your knits and re-purposing of jumper. Amused by 7-10 degrees being spring. In Melbourne I’d have thick layers on. Take care.
😆 Aye, we Scots are used to the chill!
Brain fog is no fun at all, I’m sorry to hear that you have that to contend with 😕 You also do remarkably well 👏
Knitting truly is like free relaxation and therapy.
Lovely episode, take good care, sending a nurturing hug💕
🥰💗💕
I'm with you Allie.. most of us call them jumpers not sweaters here in Australia though I think there are some who do say sweaters. Looking forward to whenever you can podcast. All the best...Carol.
😊 Glad it’s not just me! Thanks Carol 💕
Any time I can find a podcast with such lovely knits and a delightful Scottish accent I’m in!
Aw, thanks! ☺️😃❤️
Hi Ailie. Lovely podcast. Take care of yourself and hope you feel better soon. Daily migraines sound awful. I absolutely love the polo neck collar pattern. I must make one of those 😊
Aw, thanks so much Sarah 🥰❤️🤗 I can 100% a cosy collar! Thanks so much for watching x
It’s proving hard work to get a needle through the fabric though so I think I might try a lower temperature next time 😆
So glad you’re trying something new for the MAL, crochet is so quick and satisfying 💕
Oh dear, we’re all wishing for a change in the seasons! Here’s hoping the cooler weather isn’t too far away 💕
Ailie how debilitating. Hoping things improve for you. Really loved your collar and colour. Look forward to when you manage a podcast again. I am enjoying a variety of crafts. The daylight hours are slowly lenthening here in SE 🙏😀
Thanks Zena 💕 The lengthening days are such a joy, I love it!
Thanks Nikki ☺️ Even one migraine is too many, they’re horrible things…hoping you manage to avoid having any more 💗
Yes. Andrew led me to you and I’m very happy he did.
☺️ Welcome to the clan! 💗
Thank you so much
All the best for the new medical regimen I hope it works out well xx
🥰💕💗
Please take care of yourself, no need to,apologize. I enjoy seeing you when you can do it.
🥰💗💕
@@mariepreimesberger1898 oh, I feel for them 😢 Sorry, I meant I’m over 40…I’m hoping that a switch will flip at some point though!
Good luck with the new treatments, really hope they work for you.
Thanks 💗
You just made my Saturday night even better. I hope the new medication really helps and quickly so you can have some of normal life back (not that life with a chronic illness is ever normal).
🥰 Thanks Heather xx
Yes Andrew led me back to you ! Today you gave me a warm memory- my grandmother emigrated from Scotland to the US as a young girl - and she always said that about not changing your clothes until May was over ( in Scots Gaelic I guess). Well we always argued: “This is New Jersey, not Scotland! “ Your knitting is just perfection BTW.
😆 Good point! I love that held onto the wisdom of her land though ☺️❤️
Ooft, that’s hot! 🥵 This cool climate lassie would be taking refuge in an air conditioned room!
We’re all wishing for a turn in the seasons! ☺️
Beautiful work! Also, my grandmother had a very deep Irish accent and when she said "sweater" it sounded so funny. "Jumper" sounds so much better. Finally, as a fellow migraineur, I do hope you find relief soon.
☺️ Thank you! For the well wishes and the support in my knitting language issues 😉💕
It is always a pleasure to see your podcast, I get inspired by your knits. Found the Pelto collar quite appealing. Take good care of yourself, get well soon !
Thanks Nicole 😊 I hope you enjoy the Pelto Collar if you ever knit it 👍
Great podcast, I really enjoyed it!
☺️ Thank you! 💕
Thank you for the effort you make to podcast and share your knitting. I always learns things from you.
You are so welcome! I’m glad you learn something from my musings 🥰❤️
Thankyou Ailie I appreciate your videos and the time and effort that goes into them. Completely understand and yeah just thanks, you're great x
Aw, that’s so kind, thank you! ☺️💕
Andrew cheerily sent me your way. So happy he did so! I am so pleased to meet you. Thank you for a lovely time spent with you and all your nice subscribers.
Welcome to the clan! 💕💗💕 Andrew’s channel is such a treat, I’m delighted that he’s been watching mine too ☺️
Glad to see you again Ailie. ❤❤
☺️💕
I hope so too! Thanks Ylva 🥰 Sending you positive knitting vibes to get you back on track 💕💗💕
@@TheThoughtfulKnitter Thanks Ailie!😊
Good luck with future. Hope all goes well. I am happy to see you anytime. I also call them jumpers. I just translate in my head whenever I hear that😂 Also, that hot water bottle idea is brilliant! Take care.
☺️ Thanks Karen 💕
Lovely to see you back, but sorry to hear about your health problems - I hope the new meds work and your problems resolve themselves. I am always happy to see a new podcast from you, but please take care of yourself as a priority, and only record when you are feeling up to doing so.
Thanks so much 🥰❤️
I always love seeing your podcast pop up. But from personal experience, I would say do whatever is best for you to get back on your feet. Chronic migraines are hugely debilitating, and I hope your new preventative approach works for you. We'll be here whenever you feel able to return. All the best.
Thanks Dawn 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Ailie, thanks again for another lovely episode. I’m sorry to hear about your health struggles. ❤️ Sending warm wishes your way!
🥰 Thanks so much Diana ❤️
Haha the moment you said you’d rather knit than do housework, I knew I’d found the right channel 🤣
😁 Welcome to the clan! 💕
It's been so nice to see you! Take care of yourself. Migraines are terrible! I really enjoyed seeing your projects! ❤️
☺️ Thanks Debbie 💕
Any friend of Andrew is a friend of mine. I look forward to your podcasts.
Aw, welcome!!! 💕💗💕

I recently caught the Why I Knit episode with the interview with you. I thought it was really great - well done for being brave and talking about your health challenges. Love Liz x
Typed this comment before you mentioned it on the podcast!
🤣
🥰❤️ thank you!
Hi Ailie, thanks for the audio podcast recommendation, I'll check Louise out 😊 I'm still knitting away on Christmas gifts 🙈 I hope you find a treatment that helps you to manage your symptoms and live well 🌞

Glad to see your podcast once again. Love the fluffy softness look of your new sweater!
It’s so cosy! ☺️
Roxanne Richardson has a channel here on RUclips and she does a whole series on how to knit socks to fit more precisely if you're interested. Great to see you back and I was tickled when Andrew said he watches you.
Ooh, thanks for this, I must have a look 👍
Shout out to Andrew, the Albanach knitter for steering me your way. He's wonderful!
Aw, he’s sent quite a few over here, it’s lovely to see some new faces 😃 Welcome to the clan! 💕
The arms of your felted sweater might make great arm/wrist warmers.
They’re a bit too small, but I’m brainstorming some other ideas for them 👍💕
HI Found you! :D - referred from Andrew at Albanach knitter - take care of yourself
Welcome! It’s great to have you joining the clan! 😃
I found you throughAndrew and am happy to add you to my community of imaginary friends.
😆 I promise I’m not imaginary. Thanks so much for joining me, welcome to the clan! 💕
ailie, i do hope, now a month into your med changes, that you’ve been able to settle on the right one(s) successfully. whoever invented migraines was a cruel so-and-so. i had migraines for almost 50 years (arghhh), and i’m now about 4 years migraine-free, so i’m here with my fingers crossed for you. hang in there 😉.
thanks so much for checking up on me 🥰 Sadly, it doesn’t look like we’ve found the right meds yet…I’m hanging on! 💗
i’m sorry that you haven’t found the “magic pill” yet. mine came in the form of a simple iron pill, oddly enough. medicine is weird, and it can take a while to get to the right place. if you and your doctor are persistent and willing to go the extra mile, you’ll get there. i know you’ve got the stamina to hang on, but i hope something comes your way soon! 🤞🏼☀️
Next time a sweater doesn’t fit put it on inside out. Get a friend to pin it to your size. Then use a sewing machine to seam and next “steek”
🤣🤣🤣 That’s so true! I also think sweater sounds kind of unpleasant, like it’s a sweaty garment or something 😆
I can't get my head around colourwork socks either...all that getting your toes caught inside socks? Hm
🤣 Good point!
Please continue to say Jumper! Every time I hear someone from your part of the world say sweater I feel like we (North Americans) are taking your language from you.
Aw, thanks for that! I feel better about being so obstinate now 😆💕
