Happy 2023 Ailie! The cowl is just perfect 😃 The books are interesting too! Thanks for bringing us out & about, & I would not mind if you sent us a wee bit of the snow 😊
Happy New Year Susan 💗 We’ve done not bad for snow this December, it’s normally Hogmanay onwards that it falls. Sadly it keeps disappearing and turning into ice! I’m grateful for what we’ve had though…the days are so much brighter with snow to reflect the light 🥰
I love your little knitting mouse! Thank you for this episode, and for sharing the book. I put The Art of Coorie on my wishlist. Thank you for mentioning the "flesh" color entry in Nature's Palette. It is an educational process to change ideas, but every time an issue is mentioned, it raises awareness. The Pelto collar looks wonderful, and I can see why it was a bit hard to let go of! Congratulations to the giveaway winner! ❤
Thanks Leanna 💕 Yes, the Nature’s Palette book is definitely of its time, but I felt the reworking could have mentioned the fact that some of the historical naming is problematic. It’s a fascinating read though 😊
Hello Ailie, So nice to see you in the New Year! I have not entered my crocheted granny squares into the #Coorieinmal but I will do so soon! I never mentioned before but your unspun sweater is so becoming on you. And I look forward to seeing your granny squares sweater. This week we have had beautiful sunny days here in central California. I had one surgery in December and another on January 20th, so I sat outside to get me some Vitamin D. It was so nice. Because I definitely have been Coorie in. Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery and the ocean waves, your buddies (the sheep), and the crunchy snow! Take care sweetie. StitchedbyMimi
Goodness, you’ve had a lot to contend with over the past couple of months. I’m so glad the surgeries are past now, and that you can rest/recuperate in the Californian sun ☀️ There’s no need to rush with your entry (just take your time); I’ve extended the MAL deadline until the 1st of March because I’m still enjoying the excuse to coorie in - winter is still in full force here 💨🌧️❄️🥶 Thanks for watching, and sending you lots of get well soon wishes ❤️
At long last I've had time to sit and catch up with you :) I have a scrappy pair of socks on the needles, a crackling fire on the go and dusk will shortly be falling in Galloway. Perfect coorie in time! Happy New Year :)
Aaaw, thanks for popping by Ali, that’s so kind 🥰💗 I’m seriously behind schedule on recording a new episode. I hope this episode wasn’t too dull…I was definitely in a post Christmas ‘Who am I? What day is it?’ stupor whilst stumbling my way through this one! Ax
Firstly thank you for the footage at the end. It made sense in my head that sentence! It was so lovely to view. I'm further down in Lancashire and we've had loads of ice, but no real snow. I love crunchy snow! ❄⛄ I'll have to go back and check out the rules for the Coorie In MAL. Congratulations to you 5000K winner. Have a safe, healthy and fulfilling 2023. xxJane 🎉
Thanks Jane, I’m so glad you enjoyed it ☺️ Yes, ice is no fun whatsoever! Our snow keeps disappearing, but we’ve been lucky to have a few falls of it this December - the days are so much brighter with snow on the ground to reflect the light! All the info for the Coorie in MAL is in the description box below the video. Do let me know if anything isn’t clear though 💕
Happy New Year to you too Ailie 🎉 Many thanks for your great episode- it was so enjoyable- I really enjoyed the footage of your local area and the snow looks so pretty! I adore your idea of Coorie In- so much nicer than our current need to Cool- Off here in Australia 🇦🇺 we’re looking forward to some cooler weather for the next few days- yay 😁
Happy New Year to you Ailie! Your new mouse friends looks like a Martha or a Marjorie to me. She’s so cute!!! I am knitting two shawls at the moment, both of which I started in the past week so I will enter them into your MAL. I’m not sure if they will both be finished by the start of February….unlikely but that’s ok. Wishing you a peaceful start to your new year ❤
So good to see you again, Ailie. Happy new year to you! May it be crafty and peaceful. Love the landscape. I could very well see myself living in Scotland 😁❄️
Lovely socks!!! It looks so neat and beautifully knit! i have a high instep too, so I had the same problem with mine, I also find it really hard to knit stranded colorwork in the round on such a small circumference. I suppose I have to practice it, so I bought the book “charming colorwork socks” by Charlotte Stone 😄
That’s such a beautiful book, I’ve been severely tempted to buy it but I think I’ll resist until I know that I want to tackle colourwork socks again! Looking forward to seeing your projects from it though ☺️💗
I'm ringing in the new year with a case of covid. Although I appreciate a few more days off from work, I could do without the coughing. I loved your little walkabout and the sheep running towards you really made me giggle and smile, and I thank you for that. I also thought to myself as I watched the sea that I myself have gazed upon that very sea albeit nearly 35 years ago and in the summer. It made me a little sad and dare I say homesick? The happiest of days I wish upon you for 2023.
Oh Karen, what a rotten way to start the year 😉 I hope you’re soon on the path to a speedy and full recovery! I’m so glad you enjoyed the footage - sorry to have caused homesickness, but thankful that it brought back fond memories. Take care ❤️
Happy new year from Australia Ailie! It was lovely watching your vlog and that winter coolness. We are starting to hit our usual summer temperatures now of averages in the mid 30 degrees celsius but it doesn't stop my knitting I must say.
Happy New Year! Hope the new year will treat you well. You will love your dickey, I just finished the Unarmoured Defence Cowl and love it to bits, it's so warm and snuggly, perfect for cold days with lots of wind.
Happy New Year! 😘❤️🤗 Ooh, that pattern is beautiful! I hadn’t heard of it and have just looked it up…I love that you can button it together, that’s a great additional detail 👍
Thank you for a lovely episode Ailie, and a very lovely and rewarding new year to you. Maybe your little mouse should be called Joy, as that's what she's bringing you? Best of luck with the MAL, I will have to go back to last episode to see what it is all about, as my memory is that of a goldfish, at times... 😂 Edit: ooops... saw your thurogh explantion in the description now 😜
Happy New Year from a hot Cape Town (30 C today)! I loved the scenes of the crunchy snow and happy sheep - for a moment I felt cool :> I think "Salt encrusted window" sounds like a good name for a moody skein of grey and white yarn ... like the view through it!
Thanks Teresa ☺️💗 I didn’t, it was a gift from years ago - shop bought and looks like it was done on a machine…I really should up my game and knit one myself though 🤭
Just found your you tube….and yes I too have a problem when knitting with two or more yarns when going socks. They look great on paper ,however, not practical for use. Joh
Happy New Year! I always enjoy your videos. About the colourwork socks fitting over your heel - I have exactly the same problem. I had done exactly what you did - going up needle sizes, increasing the number of stitches, super loose floats, etc but it still didn’t make a significant difference. I posted something a while ago on Ravelry about this. A couple of people commented that the issue is that the number of gusset stitches need to be increased - I haven’t tried it yet - A carry over goal from 2022 is to make a pair of colourwork socks that fit and go on easily.
Thanks Carolyn, I’m glad it’s not just me 😉☺️💗 That’s interesting, I must bear that in mind for other socks. In this case it was definitely the lack of stretch in the colourwork section that was the problem for me - I hadn’t worked the gusset when I discovered that the sock wouldn’t pull over my heel. Going up a needle size and making an effort to knit really loosely sorted that for me, but I’m not overly happy with how that section looks now! I’m thinking I might try 9” circulars instead of magic loop to see if I can get the second sock to look better, whilst also going over my heel…wish me lots of luck!!!
Happy New Year! Hope 2023 brings health and joy to you. I loved getting a peek at the lovely gifts you received (AND the scenery--i can hardly wait to visit Scotland). All of December brought flu to all of my family so January's new leaf is more than welcome. Happy knitting to all.
Happy New Year, thank you for the video. The mouse is, indeed, too cute. She looks like Maisie Mouse to me. I wonder what you’ll name her? Until your next video 🐨🦘👋🏻👋🏻
I really like your Instagram and this podcast is definitely great.Unfortunately, I can't understand your English accent 😓 and there are no subtitles.I'm sorry, but it's my fault . So,Happy New Year.
I’m so sorry, the subtitles are normally generated automatically but they haven’t been lately. I’ve rectified that now, so all my videos should have auto-captions (sometimes they are a little inaccurate due to my Scottish accent, but they are mainly ok) 💕
Happy 2023 Ailie! The cowl is just perfect 😃 The books are interesting too! Thanks for bringing us out & about, & I would not mind if you sent us a wee bit of the snow 😊

I love the vampire knitting society books. As you say they are a good light entertaining read
Absolutely!
I love snow, too. At Christmas we got about 60 cm! I felt like a corgi, trying to walk through the snow….not very elegant 😊
Oh wow, that’s a lot! 😆 I’d love to see a corgi in the snow!!
Happy New Year! Love the little knitting mouse. The scenery is beautiful. Take care.💜🧶

Lovely to see you, Ailie! I really enjoyed the footage at the end. Those sheep!!
I wish you a peaceful and fun new year. -Erika
☺️ I glad you enjoyed it. They’re incredibly friendly. I’m kind of glad that there’s a fence between us though, as Zwartbles are big beasts!
Your little knitting mouse is adorable! I think you should call her Purl.
Aaaw, now that’s cute!
pajamas are very de rigueur these days :). keep knitting, keep feeling better, and happy, happy new year 😄.

Happy New Year to you Ailee. Love your little mouse. Your walk outside in the snow looked cold and bleak. 🇬🇧
And to you 💕💗 Yes, thank goodness for winter woollies and warm houses!
You could call your mouse Pearl (purl) - love your accent, some podcasters are really hard to listen to but you are a Joy🌲

Scenery around you is breathtaking Ailie, thanks for sharing, Happy New Year 🥳
