I think your vest looks amazing. If I were making it, I would make it exactly the same length as yours as having anything cropped isn't my 'jam'. Thanks for your podcast - I always enjoy your podcasts.
I absolutely understand that sentiment; cropped isn’t for me either…I don’t care how many people tell me it’s in style 🤭😆 Thanks so much for your kind words 💕
Good to see you again Ailie and happy you had a good time in Glasgow and on the tour. The Birlinn yarn is lovely to work with, you will enjoy that! And it wears so so well. Love your other items too, especially the kit.
☺️ Thanks for watching! That’s really good to know about the wearing properties of Birlinn Yarns, thanks 👍 I’ve only used it for a pair of gloves previously, and they’ve hardly been worn yet so I haven’t been able to put the yarn to the test x
Ailie, you made me laugh out loud when you said that you get more nervous each time you podcast. I feel the same way. Maybe it is because I don't want to let anyone down and try to do a better job each time I record. Love your channel. Your delightful knitty chat always brings me joy. Best wishes from Margaret (of My Wonderful Knitting Life podcast).
That is absolutely it Margaret! My inner perfectionist combined with knowing that people actually watch…it can be almost paralysing 🫣 Thanks so much for commenting, now I’ve found your lovely channel to check out 💕💗💕
Thanks so much for another lovely podcast. It really makes my day when I see you have a new episode to watch. The yarn you bought at the Glasgow Yarn Festival looks amazing especially the Iolair shawl kit and the jank for a hat. You might not need another hat but imagine how beautiful it would be and so soft to wear 😍.
A very lovely episode again! I am very impressed by your knitting skills! I have found your channel maybe three month ago and I have enjoyed your podcast episodes very much! I never would have thougt that you feel nervous about recording. However, I can understand why you feel this way. Actually, I like the fact that you don't post too often because it means that I will definately find the time to enjoy your latest episode before the next one comes out and I can watch all your episodes without stressing too much. I have unsubscribed from channels which post very often because they make me feel overwhelmed.
Such kind words ☺️ Thank you so much! I know what you mean about content overload, I unsubscribe from lots during December because I can’t handle all the Vlogmas videos 🤭💕
Dear Ailie, please don't feel nervous about recording! You're only chatting to Steve and me! We had a great chat when we met in person all those years ago at Louise's retreat. We are still the same people and you are still your lovely self! Thank you so much for making your videos.
I also made the Nighthawk as soon as it came out. I queried the quantities of yarn (especially MC) with the publisher and they confirmed the designer said it was correct. However I had 6 balls of MC left! I also reduced the length by 1 pattern repeat, but even so...!! Really happy I've found your podcasts 🙂
It was a crazy amount of extra yarn, I’ve got no idea how they came up with the quantities. Thankfully I had read a note on a Ravelry project about it (maybe it was yours 🤔) before placing my order, so I bought a lot less than was called for…I still had loads left though! I’m really glad you’ve found my channel too ☺️ Welcome! 💕
Just discovered your podcast and enjoyed it a lot; especially as I strongly identify with your yarn purchasing weaknesses. If I wasn’t on the other side of the world I would definitely be on your next trip. 😊
😆 I felt like a child in a sweet shop…gorging on everything and not knowing what to pick first! Thanks so much for joining me, and welcome to the clan 💕💗💕
Another lovely episode. It was great to see footage of your wool & walk. I live outside Glasgow & it would be nice to maybe join next year. Thanks Aillie 🏴
Oh now that’s good to know, thank you ❤️ I’m always a bit scared that DK weight triangle shawls will be too short; I like long narrow ones best - i.e. scarves 🤭🤣
Thank you for your lovely episode. It always makes at least my week 😊 You were very welcome and it makes me happy that the pattern made you happy. ❤😅 On Saturday Im planning to go to Munich Knits and I'm likewise super happy about going there aswell as kind of scared how much money I might spend...😉 so you're definitely not the only one out there. Your vest is so pretty and it looks great on you. ❤
It really did make me so very happy Andrea; a surprise kindness, it was so appreciated 🥰 Wonderful to hear that you’ll be at a yarn festival this weekend. I’m sure you’ll love it…even if your bank balance is less happy with you! 💕💕💕
Sounds like a fun and manageable trip! I would love to see the tapestry of Scotland live one day; I have two books about it from when it was first made a few years ago and I was following someonewho helped on it, love the idea and the style of embroidery.
Gosh Ailie, I can totally relate to that panic buying/frenzy mode! 😅 I did feel sad seeing the spinning in New Lanark. I live in Hamilton, so it’s fairly close to me, and I keep hoping that somehow there might be a last minute investor who will swoop in and save it. We send so much of our fleece to Yorkshire for spinning, and I wonder why it can’t be done in Scotland. Fingers crossed🤞. Your walking trip looked amazing, and you did catch some nice footage. I will check out the other podcaster you mentioned as she is new to me. I must confess (as I’m a bit older now), a Retreat sounds more appealing to me. Nice to see you back, as always. ❤ PS - I thought your goody bag contents were perfection, and very generous too! 👌
I know, it’s a huge loss….especially for the small businesses who use their services. It’s really sad 😢 Ha! I can absolutely understand the appeal of a retreat ☺️ I spend so much time resting though, that a wee frenzy of activity every now and then helps keep me sane 😉 Do check out Frances’ channel, it’s lovely. And she organises day trips on a canal boat, which sound VERY relaxing (near London, but maybe you’ll be in the area some time) x
Dear Ailie. Don’t think you’re the only one to keep knitting shawls they don’t wear! There’s always over the back of the chair while you’re knitting and viewing!❤❤
So great to catch up and hear all about your trip. I did not get in as a vendor there this year but if I don't next year I could maybe come on a trip instead. I have signed up for details. Your slipover vest looks lovely in the natural shades. I'm not very well controlled in terms of buying at yarn festivals!
That would be so great if you did, I’d love to meet you 💕 I’m not sure if we’ll do Glasgow again next year or go somewhere else, but you’ll be first to know since you’ve signed up to the mailing list x
Hello dear Ailie- I so enjoyed your episode ❤ I wish I lived closer so I could come on a Wool and Walking tour- a brilliant idea! And I had serious envy of the beautiful pouches from Harriet filled with such goodies- I bought one of her small project bags a few years ago and I totally treasure it ❤ . We saw the Great Tapestry of Scotland when we visited the UK - it was in Parliament House in Edinburgh at that stage - and it was so amazing! I love your purchases from the Glasgow School of Yarn and the shawl kit is most appealing ( my favourite colours) btw when does the Caledonia KAL finish? And do the items need to be finished? My Easwas hat seems to be on hold while I’m busy making Christmas gifts 🎁 Best wishes from Elizabeth 😊
Thanks Elizabeth ☺️ I wish that too! It would be really lovely to meet you in real life 💕 Don’t worry about the Easwas hat, the Caledonia KAL is an ongoing make along so there won’t be an end date…I’ll just draw prizes at set intervals 👍 Happy gift knitting ❤️
Love your podcast and your calming voice. ❤ Also love the two Gnomes at the beginning of this episode. Can you share the name of the pattern? 💕 apologies if you did already and I missed it.
☺️ Aw, thank you! They’re the ‘Here We Gnome Again’ pattern by Sarah Schira (Imagined Landscapes). If you want more details you’ll find me speaking about the first one in one of my earlier episodes…going by the thumbnail pics, I think it must have been episode 7 💕
☺️ Thanks so much, I’m really glad you enjoyed it 💕 I did think about a slipover, but I kind of want the yarn next to skin - it’s SO soft. You’ve spurred me into thinking about knitting a loose gauge top though; I think I might have enough for a Ranunculus, or something similar. Oooh, possibilities 🤔
Iolair yarn is always such a dangerous stall at any festival, I've never felt such nice samples anywhere else. The only thing that holds me back is that it's so soft I'd want it next to skin and I definitely can't justify a jumpers quantity of luxury yarn. Maybe I'll make myself a fancy cowl one day x
I absolutely agree on that front. A jumper would be amazing, but might also pill 🤔 Really, I just want to cuddle it and gaze at the beautiful colours 🤭😆💖
I think your vest looks amazing. If I were making it, I would make it exactly the same length as yours as having anything cropped isn't my 'jam'. Thanks for your podcast - I always enjoy your podcasts.

Ailie you are a ray of sunshine in this gloomy November day in Canada 🇨🇦. Always interesting, thank you.
🥰🥰🥰 So kind! Thank you ❤️ And thanks for watching x
Lovely photos of your trip Allie..take care. ❤
Phew! Thank you ☺️💕 I really didn’t do the trip justice with my visual recording of it, but at least I managed to take a few nice photos 🍂🍂🍂

How lovely to see your episode and hear about your trip and to see your purchases. Thank you for your sunny smile. 🇬🇧
Aw, thank you 🥰 Really glad you enjoyed hearing about my adventure x
Thanks so much for another lovely podcast. It really makes my day when I see you have a new episode to watch. It really is stunning yarn, but my bank balance is very unhappy with me 🥴🫣 x
A very lovely episode again!

So happy to see you again. The recap of the wool and walk was awesome.
Aawww, that’s so kind, thank you 💗 I’m really glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Happy to see you again.
Aww, thank you ☺️ And thanks for joining me 💕
Another lovely episode. It was great to see footage of your wool & walk. I live outside Glasgow & it would be nice to maybe join next year. Thanks Aillie 🏴
Aw, thanks Christine 🥰 I always enjoy seeing what things/places visitors take photos of my area, I hope my wee montage brought a smile to your face 💕
Hello I’ve knitted the Hebridean shawl , it’s lovely to knit and wear :))) it’s so cozy, wear it ! 😊
Oh now that’s good to know, thank you ❤️ I’m always a bit scared that DK weight triangle shawls will be too short; I like long narrow ones best - i.e. scarves 🤭🤣

I have never been to Scotland and think maybe joining wool and walking would be an amazing experience!
Oooh, I say YES! We had a lady from NYC with us this time, and it was her first trip to Scotland 💖
Gosh Ailie, I can totally relate to that panic buying/frenzy mode! 😅 I did feel sad seeing the spinning in New Lanark. The trip sounded fun, and I think I would have been similar to you at the festival 😅 It's the yarn fumes 😂
🤣 It absolutely is the yarn fumes! I was like a rabbit in the headlights not knowing which way to turn first 🤭 Thanks for being here Susan x
Gorgeous goody bag!
☺️ Really glad you think so, I loved putting it together 💗
Dear Ailie. Don’t think you’re the only one to keep knitting shawls they don’t wear! There’s always over the back of the chair while you’re knitting and viewing!❤❤
😆😆😆 Glad I’m not the only one prone to shawl lunacy!

❤
Right back at ya ❤️😊
How about a slipover with your luxury yarn instead of a shawl? Lovely to see you and hear all about the trip!
☺️ Thanks so much, I’m really glad you enjoyed it 💕
I did think about a slipover, but I kind of want the yarn next to skin - it’s SO soft. You’ve spurred me into thinking about knitting a loose gauge top though; I think I might have enough for a Ranunculus, or something similar. Oooh, possibilities 🤔
Looking forward to participating in the KALs! 😊
Wonderful! So glad to know that they sound like something you’d like to participate in 😊
Looks like a perfect trip ❤️
It was so good 😃 I’m still riding the high of spending time with fellow knitters! 💕
That sounds like a Wick/Caithness accent! Lovely slipcover 🙂
Ooh, you have a good ear…even though I was speaking in my absolute best ‘phone voice’ 😆 From a peedie bit north of Wick ❤️

Lived there for 16 years it's an accent never forgotten!

Beware the Timely cardy pattern - I knit it and the neck is BIG - had to rib/decrease in a lot. Love your podcast
Oh no, that’s not good 😧 Thanks for me know…forewarned is forearmed! 💗
