Traffic planner here: The roundabout can no longer handle the high traffic volumes and traffic distribution. Its capacity limit (Level of Service) has been reached. The aim must be to redistribute traffic as effectively as possible and minimise the number of crossing points for traffic flows. The idea of an additional exit is a good one. As you say, there should only be one exit with a right turn, otherwise there will be dangerous left turns. This right-turn lane should merge into the existing flow with an interweaving lane. My first idea would be to convert the next eastern junction into a roundabout as well and install a lane divider until there (like the ED divider). The northern car park should also be reversed. This would allow vehicles wishing to take a break to leave the track at the new exit, turn at the eastern roundabout and enter the car park. If you want to do another lap, leave the car park at the exit of the ticket office. This could also bring the old situation at the Devils Diner back to life and the queuing area for checking tickets will be longer. This is just a rough idea. This in return leads to the next problem. What about the traffic that leaves the northern car park and no longer drives a lap? This traffic has to pass completely through the roundabout at the access road and puts a strain on it. Bypasses are another option, but these are difficult to realise due to the limited space available. The traffic situation at the entrance is very difficult and complex. Many influencing factors come into play here: People who want to drive, people who want to take a break or leave, simple tourists who just want to take a look at the cars or residents who have to drive through there and who live in the neighbouring towns. Standard procedures will not provide an efficient solution here. I deal with such problems on a daily basis in my job and I would be happy to help and simulate this :)
I am from America and I have been twice. Once during the early week and once spent enough time to see a weekend. What I noticed is the roundabout becomes a gridlock because people don't really zipper in and then you have people trying to exit the parking lot and enter it while people will be parked along the side making it effectively 1 lane so it just stops traffic everywhere
I think the best solution here is ... Forced exit at the new proposed road (or continue straight on for another lap). Devils diner exit not possible unless a trackday. All traffic directed to the junction near the underpass with a new roundabout here to stop awkward U turns at the junction. The little drive will help cool the car down. Car park across the road PAVED, with a one way system. No entry near the ticket booth, only exit. So the flow would be ... Track > Exit right only onto the main road > Roundabout replaces junction > Return up the road, into either the new paved car park or straight up to the roundabout > Car park exit to roundabout at top near ticket booth > Back onto track via regular entrance. Oh, and automatic barriers that detect the registration number so there's no bottle neck there.
sounds good, maybe also increase the size of the ED fuel station. Close or heavily shrink the ED car park and add like an extra 10 pumps + make them so you can pay directly at the pump via card and cash like a drink automat. You would have 15-20 pumps with increased flow + no need to go inside for paying = faster. The ED fuel station also has huge traffic jams during the season as it is now. Maybe even have ED fuel station cards you can pre pay, similar to the ring card itself.
It's just absolutely wild to design this area in that way in the first place. Yes, when it opened many years ago it was sufficient, but you should always leave space for future growth/development instead of locking yourself in like that. Especially if you are in the middle of nowhere and have a super low density land use around you
While I don't disagree there's also the simple question of could they? It's entirely possible that they couldn't get permits to build anything bigger or all the surrounding land was/is owned by others who simply don't want to sell it which obviously means you're stuck in your own limited space
5 years of waiting of approval, top notch efficiency there. 😂 I'm intrigued to see how useful the new exit will be, especially for case of recently where there are 300+/500+ getting off the track together. I agree the current lane planning around the diner are weird, it make people in car park need to go turn around at roundabout, just adding more load to the roundabout.
5 years is still blazingly fast for German bureaucracy. Speaks Volumes of how bad the situation is and how much money is in it when it goes this quickly.
Let them install facial recognition and anpr ,and if in case of drifting a 3 year ban for the Nürburgring ,shit can be easily solved ,but there has be a need from the org itself
Given the scale of the traffic what is probably needed is to move the entrance to the overflow carpark and have a 3 to 4 lane bridge that feeds the entrance and do something similar with the exit. then make the area around the diner pedestrian only.
Misha, this is a band-aid solution to a much bigger problem. The whole entry/exit needs to be better designed and suitable for the number of cars it must deal with. Locals must hate the road as it's clogged up with racers. The road needs realigning, the roundabout deleted, a fair bigger car park fitted, and a cool-down lane with a separate exit added. I'm surprised the Germans have yet to work this out!
Germans love to make bad planning your problem and yell "skill issue, get good" right at you watching you suffer the consequences. Why is that ? I don't know, personally i dislike the lack of problem solving... that's usually what we are known for if we really want to do it...
round abputs are ore efficient than all other kinds of road crossings, the problem is the road was planned for the small town it is in not for the hundreds of tourists it sees additionally.
They need to make a "Turborotonde" what we call it in the netherlands. So the people that want to drive straight can go thru. And they could make the parking place a bit more efficient. Maybe make a second exit on the parking place so you dont need to go over the roundabout if you want to leave the track.
Misha, your work is appreciated by so many, and I want to personally thank you for everything you do for the community. Your hard work and dedication in creating incredible content do not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for the time and effort you put into elevating the experience for all of us. I'm also so happy to see your continued success over the years and wish you and your fiancee all the best! By the way, do you have any plans for a fan meetup in Zagreb? It would be amazing to meet you in person!
I was there in middle August and traffic jam was, Monday till Friday evening, absolutly horribel. In my opinion they need a better ticket system like slots for each car they can enter the track. Like buying a lap between 18:00 till 18:15 or something. (Sorry for my bad english) 😂
If the roundabout with the staff asking for tickets is the issue, wouldn't it make sense to have the ticket shop where the hyundai driving experience is and build the entrance there?
Something I think you overlooked is people in the carpark who decide they want to leave. They may have parked up after a lap to check their car, maybe they heard a noise or a scrape that worried them, whatever. They look and then oh no, I can't do another lap, I should just go. Now they have no exit if you make that a one way, they'd have to go all the way around the ring again because the only exit is that new one.
True, I thought the same. However, there might be a solution to it. The exit of the parking lot towards the roundabout is two lanes wide, so you could have the right lane going to the roundabout and the left lane to the track.
Yeah. And I think that's why there should be a very long diagonal parking area next to the Nürburgring when the new exit is built. That way people could park their cars there diagonally between the ring and L93 and check their car and then back out of their spot and then continue their way to enter the L93. And of course people want to walk from there to the devil's diner so there should be a safe walkway to the old parking area as well.
Feed the ramp onto the B-road, not the L-road, that way the next intersection is even a roundabout for turning around, and it's not quicker to turn on the street, like it is with the ramp to the L-road. Have all the access been done from the ticket booth area, overpass the L93 to connect to the parking lot next to the diner. From the Diner side, you can only enter the roundabout.
Imho another roundabout inside would also be helpful. Roundabout connecting way to/from parking area, way on/off track, +another branch off that roundabout to/from ticketing purchase. Then it would be easier/quicker to go directly from parking lot to track again, without "going out" to existing 4-way roundabout, ticket buyers won't hold off others
my 2c: Nurburgring should build some kind of "cool down area" where cars can enter, drive at a slow but constant speed, and then exit back to the public road. Aside that, they should ditch the whole ticket systems and use electronic badges. No marshal, you just have a wireless device that lifts the barrier, done.
That whole area could stand a total redesign. Needs to be much much larger. Its just gonna get more and more crowded in the future so they need to expand the parking and make the flow in and out of the track more efficient. Build a parking garage. They need 3 lanes for coming off the track 1. For going to the car park 2. For exiting back on to the public road 3. For going back out onto the track. And 3 lanes coming from off the puplic road for the same as coming off the track.
6:30 I think much could be improved with proper street signs alone. Have a BIG signs on every road leading to that roundabout telling which way you have to drive from the roundabout if you don't already have a ticket ready. The worst possible place to figure it out is in the roundabout where it blocks 4 roads if the cars get stopped there.
There is something called the ‘bypass paradox’ where new routes can actually make traffic worse. This new exit could cause that, as people might think it will make it quicker for them to get where they want to go.. and then all routes get filled.
I think that piece of road 200m west, and 300m right from the roundabout should move north around the (other) car park. With a new entrance and exit to the ticketbox and the circuit. That way there's plenty of space to redesign the connections to the track using that small car park at the academy pavillion
Move ticket checking from the roundabout down to the corner before the booths to give a bit of a buffer from there up to the roundabout for short stops, put up clear signage a mile away from the roundabout in common languages saying "hey you need a ticket, if you don't have one then turn left/right at the roundabout" and add a sign down from the roundabout that really says HEY YOU NEED A TICKET IF NOT TURN LEFT INTO THE CAR PARK. Would cut down on a lot of this stuff hopefully, but ultimately it is a lot of traffic to route through the roundabout and I don't see that changing any time soon.
Very helpful as usual- your information videos are must-see for anyone who is thinking about going to the Nordschleife. I reviewed them several times before my last visit.
The best way to plan this out will be to have two seperate access for entry and exit. and have the car park seperately, allowing for future expansion. perhaps a multi storey building in the existing car park
you honestly would need to remodell the whole area, like it is done for theme parks, having their own roads and traffic system. So having an L93 bypass/moved north (for normal traffic), then one crossing from there to a central area, where there are 2 options: a) buying a ticket b) already having a ticket. Also you have to have a road from b to a bc people. Then after that you have a big parking lot, then priority parking (for ring Taxi etc) and then a similarly controlled path to the track and back. Of course you then have your Driving Academy and the Diner near the ring next to the parking lots.
Ideally, there would be a tunnel from the carpark to the gates, a second lane/parking strip on Stroth to allow people to stop and ask marshalls for information ( in some kind of info booth) and a bigger parking lot at hell's diner. The other alternative would be to move the access road around hell's diner's parking lot, so that you have to turn right to get to the diner but crucially, no one can block the exit lane off the diner and anyone coming to the track can park their car at the diner, get out, get a ticket and then drive away from the diner again without impeding the exit from the track and diner.
You can't make it one way in & out of Devil's Diner. What happens if your car has an issue in the carpark? You're forced to complete a lap of the ring to exit?
They could install a one way road from the car park that either joins to the new exit with maybe a traffic light system with traffic detection on at the joint between the car park and the new exit road? Would mean anyone wanting to leave the car park to head home for whatever reason can get out when needed but wouldn’t stop the flow of cars getting off track through the new exit
Entry/Exit at T13 is a great idea, those who come into T13 off the track should be allowed to park/rest… but if you come in the Entrance at T13 from the public road you go straight out into the track. Would certainly help with the traffic at Devils!?
Don't forget you are in Germany. If you want to change something. You need to ask everyone in Germany/ Europe... After 10 years something might change 🤞
Good that they are going to try to solve the problem. Maybe a stupid idea from my side. Why not making a exit to the left to go on the 258 road? There people have the space to cool down there cars straight away and use the roundabout to go back and fill up the car at ED. And then you don’t have all the ongoing and exiting traffic on one road.
An easy solution would be to move the barriers to the roundabout and put three signs on the roundabout showing the way to the ticket office. Or let people use their credit card to buy a ticket at the barrier.
I'd relocate the L93 further away from the track, and build a whole new entrance with parking to allow for tickets, away from the little car park that exists. Lots of room.
Really needs two lanes on all approaches. One lane each for the Ring, one lane each for through traffic. And a well marked roundabout to prevent gridlock. Poor locals! They must drive for miles to avoid that roundabout.
One thing that concerns me is a) the exit still has to give way to the road, so the potential for traffic backing up is still pretty high. And b) once you get off there where do they go? They are just gonna go down the road to the junction to pull a u turn to go back up to the island to get to overflow parking. There needs to be some other way to get to parking after you’ve cooled down the car.
They need to forbid people from exiting the second big car park from the top (where the ticket office is), it also creates a trafic jam just behind the ticket office that goes all the way to the roundabout. Everyone from the secondary car park should exit from the bottom. It's not ideal and can be muddy but it would improve the flow as well.
Good to make improvements, but what if there is an issue with a driver and he takes the fast exit and he is way, this maybe a security issue. Also what about a total scrap redesign and see what the perfect track setup would look like. that 4 way roundabout looks a nightmare going to get another ticket etc rejoining the cue and so on, i think after a lap most people might need to use the toilets services etc chill out for a bit chat to fello drivers look at the cars and them make their way home etc, maybe a worth while investment to make a whole restructure. Make 1 big massive car part with large area for viewing the track, historical centre food hall andso on (ive not a clue whats there btw), but ive been intrested in the track since one of my freinds have been round the track with you from the UK, keep up the good reviews Misha :).
Hi Misha, can you make a vid about parking along the ring? At Brunchen there's a 'official' parking. But where are you allowed to park if you visit T13 or Kleines Karroussell? A few years ago we entered a road en been there, but afterwards we know it was not allowed. Can you explain about the do's and don'ts? Thanks.
i agree on the one way entry. they need 2 ticket booths with parking lots on both sides of entry. or they use an electronic nfc ticket system. everybody got a phone or a debit card with hot chip payment. or can install an app. like a toll booth. quicker passthru. if you run continous laps you take the direct lane and check back in. if you need a break or repairs you gotta do the double dragstrip loop exit L93 -> lil L92 -> 258 -> roundabout hauptstrasse back to the parking lot. the fastest airflow without taking constipating left turns in the middle. this tiny lil parking lot is enough for the diner guests, not racers. and there's no quick way to the bigger parking lot. they should maybe make that one even bigger for more hobby racers. the roundabout gotta roll tho for this street engine to rev. it's really a choke point if people wait for ticketeering.
i see a other issue with the new exit. if you want enter the big car park on the other side true its current back exit is going to be tricky as that exit is very small this will create an other traffic jam usaly i go to that big parking after a lap
my last laps where 2004 on the Ring and since then everyting changed i guess ... a pyle of entertainment parks with buldings and even a roller coaster??? Bro, here in Namibia time stands STILL like in a time capsule ;) give thanks for dis video.
I complete insane idea, build a tunnel from new exit under L93 to the current gravel parking space with lines in and out to the track. Close circle for incomig traffic to the track, so exit only. way more space for a bigger circle at the parking space, drivers can enter and exit parking space of devils diner. ;). Or 2nd crazy idea create a bypass from "In der Stroth" around the circle and come back to L93 at the current exit of the gravel parking space. L93 from current circle till next to the red painted new exit would be a closed "track only" road. Track exit to public traffic would exit at the circle to the new bypass road. So you would have a separated traffic for public and track with minimal costs of some 500m new road. public traffic just drives like on each normal road without the need to drive around the circle. :)
@@DxCBuG only if you leave, also there wont we a traffic jam, tunnel will not be 10 km long, and even the shortest tunnel, lets says this one would be 200 meters has safety regulations etc etc. And for the car it really doesn´t matter if its standing with open sky or under a bridge or something. :)
Hey Misha and comment section, please correct me since I am confused now. Is the Nürburgring a public or private road. I think I confused myself because it is operated by the track, but it used to be (or might still be) a public road. But sometimes the track is closed, so it is not public. Or is it a private road that the owner (the track) allows the public to use sometimes? Please be kind, I just think I have confused myself on this aspect.
This is a good and simple solution for everybody who is done with their driving or wants to save two minutes to get to the petrol station. Only problem I see is people who can't read a map and "must" turn left. But whatever, small strides....
Honestly the best, and impossible, solution is to turn the roundabout into an entry only and create several roads to leave the Ring that will flow straight into outbound traffic in either direction. The new exit is perfect, but another one passing over In der Stroth as an option either in the lane to start a lap or another lane next to it to then send exiting traffic over the little field, over In der Stroth and then on to said road. And for an added bonus to solve the traffic at the roundabout add exits earlier on both L93 and In der Stroth that connect the two without the use of the roundabout. It's wishful thinking, but one can dream.
The situation in front of Devils Diner is so confusing. I embarrassed myself last weekend trying to turn left to enter the car park directly but marshals lectured me on that. I didn't know they changed the traffic scheme but I had my ticket ready. For those who don't have a ticket, there is no real way to turn back.
Misha! as a huge fan from the USA (indianapolis actually), I’m curious if the Nordschliefe in the game Rennsport has the correct elevation at different parts of the track? That’s the best way I have to race the track, so I thought if you could check the game out and let us know how realistic the track is in game, that be amazing! appreciate all you do
Need some kind of automation like a toll gate where you just drive through instead of human intervention asking questions. Have a lane for those who have a electronic token and a lane for those who didn't prepare.
It's probably better then doing nothing, but the pain is still the new type of entrance with a marshall pre-check a ticket? I don't think that's really neccessary. Ok I haven't been there since 2011 but I keep watching the situations, video's and updates like this. Great photoshop skills! :D
Can't they just completely close this entry and exit and use the GP one? The GP one already has wide big roads + car parks (that are empty when no races are going on), + the paddock space + old paddock. Ticket office etc would also be right there. They would need to the run NLS or 24h layout instead of the tourist layout, but you would get more track for your money + traffic should run easier. And then only use the current tourist entry for track days with limited cars.
The big issue from my somewhat limited experience is the people who refuse to move on when track is closed. I've been stuck several times for over an hour, unable to simply pass by the entrance as I intended because people were refusing to give up "their spot in line" for the reopening of the track. The Polizei needs to enforce a standard of no waiting on the street at In Der Stroth. If the track is closed, you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here and wait on the street.
The exit onto L93 needs to be much like a highway access slipway. Long enough for exiting vehicles to get up to the speed limit to merge safely. The drivers returning from the carpark area shouldn't have to further impede an already strained roundabout. Its unfortunate the ticket office isn't trackside. (Haven't yet visited the track & area personally) There needs to be a complete change to the operation of entering & exiting. To make it safer for local residents, & track users. My two cents. For what its worth.
I bet you're not allowed to do that on a normal L (Landstraße) because there's some code that only allows that for Bundesstraßen an A (Autobahn) streets
@@DxCBuG I'm not fully aware of the German road regulations etc. But I thought it might have been a logical solution. But Government & Governing bodies don't always operate under what is logical.
why not use the T13 area and its exit/merge road to flush out traffic as well?? make it exit only after a lap, people can cooldown up to there nicely as well.
At this point, they should remove the roundabout and add a traffic light. There's just too many cars, from too many directions to be handled. And add more gates to get into the track.
In theory this new exit might take some of the strain off the roundabout, not saying it's the ideal solution, but might ease that as well but only time will tell.
the main issue is that the entrance in general is SMALL the parking is small the roundabout is on the worst position ever the roads should have being 2 lanes each
We have two lane roundabouts in Germany already. One example that comes to mind is in Gelsenkirchen coming off the A2 at exit Buer. Definitely would be a valid option.
Wouldn't it have been possible to make an exit from the left lane to 258? Much less busy road and much simpler junction. There's a bit of gradient, but does not sound impossible.
Do they allow compound R tires on the track? I can't remember. If so, leaving the track with compound R tires that don't have E Stamp, wouldn't that not be illegal?
I'm not sure if you saw what happened at the Anlassen bike event this April, but man the traffic jam at the exit was absolutely horrible. To be fair, the event was incredibly crowded this year anyway, new attendee record, so extreme situation. But I don't know how many hours I've sat in the traffic jam. Yes, hourS. So, great news!
Good thing becaude last time i went was on a weekday and by the end of a lap i had only for 45km in the tank left, and going off and go to gasstation and back on would take a lot of time, by the time i got to brunchen, i had to lift because the car indicated 2 km and than i came to the exit and there was really a lot of cars trying to go off, luckily while standing still it went back up to 6 km left but fuel stress kicked in!😂
As a driver I like the solution that you can't enter without the ticket. (only startet this year) now i allways get a parkingspot because there is allways someone leaving the parking. Before you had posers with a fancy car, that they wouldn't even drive for 1 lap, lapping Devils Diner 10 times and then parking the car the entire day to show it off. Now it's a great place to meet others who actually drive the track too. I don't mind driving around the roundabout for another lap it is a 30sek delay.
To be honest as a driver, what I care most about is the length of the line to do another lap. Maybe it's time for a second barrier on the straight but I guess there is no financial reason for that, because all the guys in the queue have a season card and don't generate any extra income🤔
I understand the issues of land owners, not being able to dig tunnels, etc. But a simple split roundabout that allowed people to go straight on the main road would do wonders and there's nothing preventing them from redoing the current roundabout. Also making the stopping point to check for tickets in the roundabout is just plain stupid, do it inside the circuit area, don't clog the roundabout!
Why not create another parking lot on the north west side with an enter exit on the north road? I don’t know who owns what land and if this is even financially feasible. Roundabout for sure needs an update.
**I have not been to the ring** It sure seems like the whole things needs blown up and to start over. There looks to be lots of open space/land surrounding the roundabout. The carpark at Devil's Diner is too small for how busy the Ring is.
Complete stops yes are not great, many years back my STi had fitted std brake pads when they were meant to be a softer compound, spent half of day 1 of Targa Tasmania with brakes on fire at the stage exit time card stop, suffice to say we swapped the pads out at lunch service!! Funny (yep a little) thing was every stage exit the timing desk would say your cars on fire, and we said yes we know, bye!!! As soon as you got to 60 or so the fire went out!!
Hey Misha, sort of off topic but after going to The Bend and liking it despite typically not liking track for being short (besides spa) have you considered driving Portimao? I know Jimmy and Steve were there in January in the M4 GT4 but i dont remember seeing you there.
It's crazy that cars in the car park have to exit and re-enter if they want to do another lap. 🤯
What also needs to happen is people actually listening to marshalls . It's a mess with people not listening to them on the car park...

I'm intrigued to see how useful the new exit will be, especially for case of recently where there are 300+/500+ getting off the track together.
I agree the current lane planning around the diner are weird, it make people in car park need to go turn around at roundabout, just adding more load to the roundabout.
5 years is still blazingly fast for German bureaucracy. Speaks Volumes of how bad the situation is and how much money is in it when it goes this quickly.
welcome to germany.....world champions in bureaucracy...and it's getting "better" every day.....
They should make a longer merging zip lane on to the L93 to avoid the "brake, stop and check for traffic" situations.
People will definitely drift that new corner lol
I'm surprised the Germans have yet to work this out!
you obviously don't know "US" germans then......that's how "it" works here....
@@stratman9449 The same people who brought you the Autobahn! Who knew!
@@stratman9449 All we know is that it works terribly bad, just like the Bahn.

I was there in middle August and traffic jam was, Monday till Friday evening, absolutly horribel.
In my opinion they need a better ticket system like slots for each car they can enter the track. Like buying a lap between 18:00 till 18:15 or something. (Sorry for my bad english) 😂
Absolutely perfect English. No apology required there whatsoever. Only one very minor spelling mistake but that's nothing! 😊

Great video. Thanks for all the info. Hopefully this can help the situation.
Im sure i seen a video somewhere of the track being closed for an accident and then it had reopened again before the previous cars had even got off 😅
Imho another roundabout inside would also be helpful.
They need 3 lanes for coming off the track
1. For going to the car park
2. For exiting back on to the public road
Would cut down on a lot of this stuff hopefully, but ultimately it is a lot of traffic to route through the roundabout and I don't see that changing any time soon.
the best plan is to close the parking next to devil dinner ! and have two exit of the track
So having an L93 bypass/moved north (for normal traffic), then one crossing from there to a central area, where there are 2 options:
a) buying a ticket
b) already having a ticket.
In return, the diner gets the old access road as parking spots for the spots they lost to the parking lot.
You can't make it one way in & out of Devil's Diner. What happens if your car has an issue in the carpark? You're forced to complete a lap of the ring to exit?
Surely you would just speak to a marshal and they would let you out onto the roundabout.
They also need to sort the entrance / exit for the over flow car park with these new measures
Don't forget you are in Germany. If you want to change something. You need to ask everyone in Germany/ Europe... After 10 years something might change 🤞
You mean the United nations
but only"perhaps"......
Add a second exit from the back of the Devils Diver carpark to L93, right turn only. To alleviate the exit at the roundabout.
to prevent drifting maybe add anti skid surface to make it harder
Next video, Misha playing Cities Skylines
T13 was full during a recent trip as well as the DD parking. Total chaos.
The overflow carpark will cause queues unless it's made one way going anti clockwise towards the track maybe?
Make 1 big massive car part with large area for viewing the track, historical centre food hall andso on (ive not a clue whats there btw), but ive been intrested in the track since one of my freinds have been round the track with you from the UK, keep up the good reviews Misha :).
they need to make a huge car park over the road and have a tunnel coming onto the track side
Thanks.
i agree on the one way entry. they need 2 ticket booths with parking lots on both sides of entry. or they use an electronic nfc ticket system. everybody got a phone or a debit card with hot chip payment. or can install an app. like a toll booth. quicker passthru. if you run continous laps you take the direct lane and check back in. if you need a break or repairs you gotta do the double dragstrip loop exit L93 -> lil L92 -> 258 -> roundabout hauptstrasse back to the parking lot. the fastest airflow without taking constipating left turns in the middle. this tiny lil parking lot is enough for the diner guests, not racers. and there's no quick way to the bigger parking lot. they should maybe make that one even bigger for more hobby racers. the roundabout gotta roll tho for this street engine to rev. it's really a choke point if people wait for ticketeering.
i see a other issue with the new exit.
if you want enter the big car park on the other side true its current back exit is going to be tricky as that exit is very small
this will create an other traffic jam
usaly i go to that big parking after a lap
my last laps where 2004 on the Ring and since then everyting changed i guess ... a pyle of entertainment parks with buldings and even a roller coaster???
You want to funnel boiling hot cars into a tunnel ? I don't see the vision... except id you have a paid fire brigade right there on standby
Ideally they should create an exit on the left of the straight to go straight on 258 road.
For those who don't have a ticket, there is no real way to turn back.
just make also an exit to the left of the track (ED Tankstelle side), which obvsly would be closed during trackdays.
Misha! as a huge fan from the USA (indianapolis actually), I’m curious if the Nordschliefe in the game Rennsport has the correct elevation at different parts of the track?
looks like they could also use more parking
It's hopefully going to be an improvement.
(Haven't yet visited the track & area personally)
There needs to be a complete change to the operation of entering & exiting.
How about another additional exit so that you can also enter the 258 road?
10:10 How will the people leave the carpark if they don't want to go for a lap? (if for example they heard a noise or whatever)
why not use the T13 area and its exit/merge road to flush out traffic as well?? make it exit only after a lap, people can cooldown up to there nicely as well.
At this point, they should remove the roundabout and add a traffic light. There's just too many cars, from too many directions to be handled.
And add more gates to get into the track.
we should recreate the Nordschleife in Cities Skylines 2 and let "Biffa" fix the traffic ^^
add a second lane to the turnabout.
In theory this new exit might take some of the strain off the roundabout, not saying it's the ideal solution, but might ease that as well but only time will tell.
I think the new exit will only be open on busy days because they would need 2 marshalls to tell people their car is too loud/ no drifting etc
When you use the new exit and want to go for another lap, what's the route back if you avoid a sketchy U-turn?
the main issue is that the entrance in general is SMALL
the parking is small
the roundabout is on the worst position ever
the roads should have being 2 lanes each
But how would you change the roundabout? Two lane solution like in netherland?🤔
I had no idea the issue was as bad as 1 hour to get off track, wow
5:25 finally shown the new exit 😉
I'm not sure if you saw what happened at the Anlassen bike event this April, but man the traffic jam at the exit was absolutely horrible.
To be fair, the event was incredibly crowded this year anyway, new attendee record, so extreme situation. But I don't know how many hours I've sat in the traffic jam. Yes, hourS.
So, great news!
Good thing becaude last time i went was on a weekday and by the end of a lap i had only for 45km in the tank left, and going off and go to gasstation and back on would take a lot of time, by the time i got to brunchen, i had to lift because the car indicated 2 km and than i came to the exit and there was really a lot of cars trying to go off, luckily while standing still it went back up to 6 km left but fuel stress kicked in!😂
does any one know if motor bikes can still go on track. And if so, is there rules about what they need to wear? eg, leathers for example
Also making the stopping point to check for tickets in the roundabout is just plain stupid, do it inside the circuit area, don't clog the roundabout!
another good video
Did they consult you? Would seem to makes sense...
Why not create another parking lot on the north west side with an enter exit on the north road? I don’t know who owns what land and if this is even financially feasible. Roundabout for sure needs an update.
They could build a car park in the field seems way to small for how famous the nurburgring is
**I have not been to the ring** It sure seems like the whole things needs blown up and to start over. There looks to be lots of open space/land surrounding the roundabout. The carpark at Devil's Diner is too small for how busy the Ring is.
Land sellers won’t sell the land so can’t be used
That roundabout should be replaced with a tunnelled intersection with bypass lanes. But Germans being German, it would take another 150 years.
0:09 Standard narcissist move 😃 DAMN I‘m busy people
Complete stops yes are not great, many years back my STi had fitted std brake pads when they were meant to be a softer compound, spent half of day 1 of Targa Tasmania with brakes on fire at the stage exit time card stop, suffice to say we swapped the pads out at lunch service!! Funny (yep a little) thing was every stage exit the timing desk would say your cars on fire, and we said yes we know, bye!!! As soon as you got to 60 or so the fire went out!!
Good video
