It will be difficult for anyone to fill the shoes left by Sabine. Misha has done an incredible job learning the circuit intimately, and taking fans of the Ring round faster than they might ever do in their own car. If anyone in the world is carrying on that torche, it's Misha.

I’m pretty sure he’s not trying to fill Sabine’s shoes, he has a lot of admiration and respect for her. There are also other pilots that are more experienced around the ring. As a RUclipsr myself, I can tell you that when your audience expects a certain subject in your videos, it's hard to deviate from that and still get a happy audience. For example, in his normal videos, he talks just enough to get you interested in the car he's driving and the passenger, and then goes on to race. He knows people are there to see him absolutely demolish Nordschleife, so for him to talk more or make it all about himself wouldn't really sit well for a video because of the audience. I've met him a few times and the guy is awesome, very kind and of course smart as shit. He's very good at the things he does.

RUclips has tossed me some Misha videos, in the past.
Being the cynical old fart that I am, I admit to not taking them too seriously (just another social media "star" taking excessive risks to flog "shock" content).
Admittedly, I am just another moron keyboard warrior, sitting behind a screen in Miami, but this interview has, for obvious reasons, completely re-calibrated my opinion.
Put it this way, 38 min flew by as fast as a ring lap.
The insight pertaining to the "rules of the road" and insurance, on the ring, has answered questions that I have had for years.

I wonder if I hold the record for armco replacement. My insurer was charged for 600M! I think it was EU15k and this was 20+ years ago! I came over the small crest after Tiergaten and aquaplanned. The clouds had just dropped rain really quickly and I didn't slow enough for the conditions. After going along the left barrier for a long time (locked wheels do nothing on grass!), the kink in the barrier sent me across the track into the barrier of the right side of the track which I hit at 45 degrees still with quite some speed. I bounced back into the sliproad of the left just before Hohenrain-Schikane! I'd done around 100 laps at the time in different conditions so whilst not an expert, I knew my way around a bit.
I'm really glad you covered insurance. Too many people drive the 'ring thinking that they're only risking their car. People have lost their houses when they have to personally cover medical claims due to not having a policy in place. Before my accident, I checked with my insurance broker as it didn't look excluded but I wanted to be sure. The broker said the underwriter didn't want to cover me. I replied that if it wasn't excluded then I was covered regardless of their thoughts on it. They agreed and issued a new policy specifically stating that the Nordschleife was covered. I stuck with that insurer for a few years due to that.
Great video. I'm surprised Ben hasn't experienced it. I couldn't resist and wanted to experience it once .... and ended up visiting from the UK twice a year.

Hahaha, Misha saying simracing is a cheap gem to learn the ring... he's right... and he was my instructor back in 2017 for 4 laps, he wasn't convinced as much back then, glad we won him over, hahaha. Love you Misha, thanks for everything you do!!! Glad to hear you are taking your rest seriously nowadays! Well done, Ben, great Interview!

    Very interesting interview!
Nice to hear the people that come to you to drive their car want you to send it.
I do agree. I started with the nurburgring after that went to zolder and Zandvoort but it felt boring compared to the ring. It was fun but it was not as exciting as the ring. Iearned the track in forza motorsport. First time I came there is was quite nervous but when I started the first lap I did know all the corners speeds where different and it was way easier to feel what the car could do. Since I did more than 200 real laps with multiple cars and sometimes my motorcycle. I really love the track. There is nothing like it.

The barriers on the ring do magic. Last year when i was to the 24 h Race i saw a car losing control and just charge into the barriers. The car got flung into the air, rolled multiple times and came to a sandstill some 100 m down the road. But he did not leave the track at any point!

Great guest and great interviewer, been following misha for years, would be excellent to see you both sharing a lap soon.
Never been to Nordschliefe before yet learnt the track from granturismo over many years, must be over 1000 laps, recently realised I can watch any 5 seconds clip of misha doing a lap and know where in the lap it is and the next corners, think I can get it in 3 seconds but definitely within 5.
Would love to offer my limited knowledge for a passenger guide service to you Ben! it’ll make me take my EP3 over from Cornwall

I also have the book at home
I loved reading it and was surprised it was less about technique but more about mindset and philosophy of driving better/faster ❤

So many people sleep on simulators and fancy themselves "racing" drivers. It literally doesn't even need to cost more than a grand for a decent setup with a mediocre gaming PC, a PS5 or Xbox. Cheapest, safest ways to learn a track. Then when you for the real thing you already know the braking points and where the turns on the track are. You factor in all the costs when it comes to physically driving a track; Tyres, Fuel, Insurance, maintenance, brakes and considering if you want to get good you need to drive the track quite a few times, you'll need deep pockets to do it the old fashioned way. Just look at Jimmy Broadbent.

I love nurburgring so much I have 200+ hrs on assetto corsa.
Done nothing but drive different cars in the nordschleife.
And now that it got added on ACC (I wished without the gp track). I drive there non stop when I got time.
And again what you learn from the AC nordschleife helped in the ACC version. Minus the gp track I hate it.

ooof. I approve of the GC8. My first car was a Mazda MX-6 (similar to a Ford Probe for my murican friends, the body was different but they shared the mechanic), but my second, third and fourth cars were GDs. I sadly never had a GC but my best friend at the time had a crazy JDM STi swapped GC8 he used to trash on the drag strip and in the backcountry roads. That car was a lot of fun. And that guy was crazy. If I remember correctly he went trhough 4 engines and 3 trannies XD
