But then you literally explained that anything not claimed on insurance won't be listed. Bit of an L there
I’m p
Mat is one of the best and most genuine people Ive ever met. Treated me like family as soon as we started working together. Even though I scammed him on that Ferrari engine :)
I read that in your voice. Perfect.
Bang on T 👍🏽
@tavarish you sir are one of the most genuine yourself 👍😎
Wow you just said mat is such a genuine nice guy and treated you like family and yet you still ripped him off. Wow
Freddie you really scammed him giving him a Ferrari engine for free 😂
Thanks for having me on again Ben! I’m sure there’s going to be even more to talk about another year down the line! 🙌
Do you think you would have won a race by then? 😉 Pleasure Mat! Thanks for coming on 🙌
Ohhh... that is harsh ;)
Legend mat. You encapsulate what’s possible if you want it enough
Couldn’t agree more about the weather affecting peoples moods in the UK!
Matt Armstrong your videos are Top Gear ;-)
Mat is the king of advertising. Weaves his ad into the video where you can’t skip it or you’ll miss the content of the build. So clever.
Even this car vertical ad.
Agreed and Chris slix is the same too keeps showing him working while doing the ads
The one he threw in on the RS6 vid when the bonnet was up at the side of the road was brilliant. 😂
Loads of youtubers do that now 😅
The only RUclipsrs ads I ever actually watch & I don't even mind!
I have watched most car programmes on tv over the decades and that’s a lot for a 64 year old, but Mat’s RUclips recordings are now my most eagerly awaited. Just love his charisma and honesty. How can you not like him, Tony and those who share his enthusiasm. I think most of us who watche him, wish we had the balls to do what he has done. Keep it up Mat 👍
You have said it better...he's that good. Over here from South Africa.
The only thing that has got me glued to Mats videos is that he’s so decent with his manners, no ego, no umps, no swearing… no matter what..brilliant, keep it up, the world is waiting for you with a throne massively bigger than Amazon or Netflix…
I notice this too, super polite and never swears which is super rare on podcasts nowadays.
I think that the reason why MA is becoming so popular is that it's totally unscripted and is pretty much "What you see is what you get!"👍
his content is so easy to watch and i feel like im leaving knowing that i can fix anything if i stick to it. that positive energy!
Yes and he's always laughing and positive even in the most trying times. 🤔😃
Bookmarked for a later roadtrip
omg Misha! 🫣
The man the myth the legend, misha charoudin everyone
On the plane to The Freedom Factory!
The 3 of you on a road trip 👀🤞
❤
I am 56 years old , I watch a few channels , Tavarish to Harry’s Garage , don’t see them as rivals each are different, Mat and his team is just great , it’s the personality, they are the Modern day version of Clarkson , May and Hammond , a national treasure .
I love hate watching Shmee , DDE etc but do watch but Mat always makes me smile and laugh , keep up the great work 👍
yeah Shmee is as sickly as his names sounds.
Schmee started to get annoying and kinda cringy. But when he starts talking about the cars and mechanics he’s fun to watch but there’s only so many times you can hear a man say this is mine mine, I bought this, that’s my new car etc… I sound envious and face it, we all would be but it gets a tad irritating.
That’s why I stopped watching strad, he was fun bit now he just shouts a lot
@@loiphinHello I'm Shmugg ..I honestly don't get the appeal of that guy
Schmee is the most annoying of the bunch ... can't watch 15s of the guy
Genuinely love Mat's Dad, he's such a legend man, never seen him without a smile or laughing.
I bumped into Mat one day while at SEMA. I just briefly told him I had been watching since he rebuilt his Bentley in the beginning and enjoyed everything. He seemed like he didn't know how to handle it well as he states in this video so I just kept it short, let him be, and enjoy the trade show.He is just a nice normal car guy with a huge RUclips channel.
You got to interview Tony!
We need to make it happen!
Yes....great call.
Tony aka Mi’Dad
This needs to happen.
The Tony and other Mat show
Mat nailed it about saying it feels like we’re there with him. I personally love how real he is. It’s like your just down the garage with your mates working on cars
Mat really comes across well as a decent guy who is fun but doesn't have an ego. He seems so down to earth and makes incredible content.
Thank you Mat. Cannot wait until each video drops
I can honestly say that the reason people love Mats channel is bc it gives us commoners a feeling of relatability and that we too could strap in and grind to make similar things happen in our lives. It's real life being filmed and even while he makes a lot of money it's not money he is handed for doing one movie or show. He really does have to work alot to make it even through youtube(filming, editing, working, etc.)
Theres definitely enough youtube space to watch Mat, Chris Slix, Tavarish, saving salvage, CCD etc without them being competitors. I watch them all, and more weekly. The growth of Mats channels is staggering tho
They add to each other more then compete, all are different though and definitely have there own unique styles which is why people watch them
More car content the better, I watch all of those channels. Mat deserves all the success he gets
All these RUclipsrs have basically replaced Top Gear and Fifth gear
When you buy subs and comments of course it’s staggering😅
I agree, and each creators success can only be good for others. A rising tide raises all ships
Should deffo try and get mats dad on for a podcast, that would be epic😅..brilliant pod yet again Ben👏🏼💯
Agreed. I would love to hear his back story.
24:17 each creator has there own personality and as a result there own audience. I want to see Freddie come to the UK!
There are a couple of things I appreciate about Matt.
1) His positive attitude. He is always laughing, but yet serious when required.
2) His relationships. Firstly with his dad and with Hannah abd the rest of the team. You can only maintains good relationships when you are respectful towards others.
3) I can watch the videos with my wife and grandchildren because it is clean fun and NO SWEARING. If is the same with Freddie's video's as well. Many people thinks you have to be foul-mouthed and under the belt to be funny.
I congratulate them.
Awesome Monday morning episode. Mats a lovely bloke and I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone in the car community in saying we wish him all the success in the world. 😊
Tony at the end priceless. 😂 lovely insight again, living my old life every week with Mat and crew
Matt deserves all the success he’s getting, been watching him since he was on the driveway with the TT genuinely nice guy and puts 100% effort in
Mat really needs to be on tv,he could easily take over the top gear type of viewer.
RUclips is bigger than TV
Why would anyone want to work for the BBC when you can run your own channel.
I love Mat's optimism. He doesn't feel shackled by any limitations and doesn't impose them on himself. He's very inspirational
my favorite part is when he takes the car to the dealership and sees how well he put the car back together .. kinda solidifies his skills .. A1
We like real genuine HONEST PEOPLE and Mat is one of those and his team!!
I'm American, and I love his crash series where he rebuilds cars; the videos are amazing! Sometimes, the dialect is hilarious because of the differences between American English and UK English. But, wow, you've got some unbelievable machines!! Much love from Portland Oregon!!!
I lost my dad 3 years ago to Covid and seeing Mat working with his dad on cars reminds me of the good times I had with my dad when we were doing carpentry together
It’s great seeing Mat grow over the years it’s a 100% the story as much as it is the cars. So good to see your podcast brining more great content they are always good! Well done!
Thanks Dave! :)
Hard work beats talent. I used to mess about with BMW car engines, my ADHD loved it. It is so possible to have a 100m. I think Matt is a huge motivation to being happy, with who you are and the skills you have, and how powerful laughter is! - Thanks for all the smiles. Brilliant - Phil
Mat being himself is what makes me watch the channel, that that talking is friendly and honest.
For me the "hidden" gem for me is Mat's Dad. I am so glad that he is now full time. Cause miss him so much when he is not there. Mat is more focused on his product, which is critical, don't get me wrong. But Mat's Dad is just such a joy and he cannot hide it. His joy is infectious and even pulls it out of Mat even when Mat is focused on the product.
Matts right i watch the DDE guys, Smee, Mr JWW, Car wow and more absolutely
Mat’s great and so interesting to listen to. Also credit where it’s due to you Ben, you’re a fantastic interview/podcaster, fantastic questions and equally great to listen to.
Much appreciated!
From the States - this dude comes off so incredibly gunuine/doesn’t have a care in the best way. Sub’d to him a month ago and he’s already my favorite RUclipsr. What a talented guy. Top tier interview too. Great, well thought out questions. This was 👍 content. ✊🏻
Mat is such a genuine and honest person. He is truly inspirational. I love his simplicity & humility. Keep up that amazing smile and hard work Matt, you are awesome !!!!
Easy to see why Matt does so well with his friends and family. Almost every paragraph includes something about pleasing viewers, friends or family. It seems his goal is to please. The question is what s it that enables Matt to draw so much sheer joy from just having a great time. Seems like the ideal friend.
I actually watched another 1 hour video from start to finish, your podcasts with Mat are so riviting that time just disappears.
Excellent content, and insight, well balanced questioning and a really good insight into the life of Mat.
Watched mat from the beginning , love the father son ratlatioship and how almost every video has a mistake I’d make in it
He’s given me the confidence to buy back one of my crashed vans from the insurance and rebuild it … copart became a reality
I don't even like cars and still watch all of Mat's videos for the story and crew.
What a genuinely nice guy Matt Armstrong is. It was good to hear about the background of the team and what we see is a true reflection of them all. I enjoyed the podcast Ben, I hope your US plans come to pass.
I just started watching fairly recently Mat Armstrong I love his stuff amazing what he has achieved very inspiring indeed!!
u can see this is Mats passion and his team are the same its there passion!!
I love seeing the relationship. As someone who was close to their son before his untimely passing, it brings a smile to my face seeing Mat and his dad's relationship.
"If one person watch my video doesn't mean that that person won't watch someone's video doing a similar thing". So true and I love that he has this perspective❤
and Mat has the personal phone number for the DDE guys haha cool!
One of the big reasons why you are so inspirational is because you deal with frustration in such a graceful way. Guess you get a lot of that from your Dad, he is a legend
48:23 its the same reason why people loved the original top gear… there’s so many people that do what he does but we love watching him !! 🎉🎉
Refreshing to see you ask challenging questions in a cheery and thought provoking way, without a doubt that’s helps us to discover more, looking forward to seeing more. Pic at the end was classic 😊
Mat is one of the very, very few RUclipsrs who worked so freakishly hard to get there. And he is not even done yet nor any less passionate about it. Grand lad. I dislike people just buying expensive cars and stuff. But he, he is actually investing so much into it, it's mental.
I hear what you’re saying mat … that’s why I moved to Australia… and you inspired me to start my own channel…Legend
In the past couple weeks, I've binge-watched every video Mat has ever made and now I want more.
Definitely a genuine person and that's is greatest strength which makes people gravitate towards, he makes builds so simple you almost feel as if you right there, @Matt keep your originality. Keep up the fantastic work i know it must consume alot of your time, its a tough balance, you awesome bro
Awsom content Mat, I'm 64 now medically off sick by an accident which was not my fault, I'm home every day now and enjoy watching you and the team create very good and interesting content, I was a international truck driver and i have seen lots of super cars on the road, now you make content showing these super car in crashed states and putting them back together your way and making them better then and quicker then some of the big manufactures which is from what i see is probably watching you and is giving them idea's on how to move on, keep up giving us very interesting content, crack on Mat.
Ever since i discovered his channels i have watched all his videos, big up mat. Much love from Zambia 🇿🇲❤
Ku chalo 😅
I believe what makes it brilliant is the camera IS so close and you're totally spot on that we feel a part of what you're doing and amazed always how you Endeavor to persevere no matter what comes up and keeping the smile on your face and laughing about something that cost you 20 more hours of work
Love all of your podcast ben! I found them from your first interview with mat and here we are again. You never disappoint.
You're an absolute natural in the videos with mat.
The car aint bad either.
As a wildlife photographer, i totally get where Mat's coming from re the editing. I have way too much to do, juggle a full time job etc & not doing my own editing would free up so much time for me. The thing is, my eye is my eye, i know exactly when things are looking the way i want them. Theres no formula, every photo is different, therefore i cant hand that side over.
I will say tho, that mat will have to eventually hand at least the first edit over to someone else or face burnout sooner rather than later
My first video I watched off Mat was only two weeks ago, thanks algorithm... And it's been a pleasure, I love the relationship he has with his team and his Dad, it's real, and that's the bottom line... he's a real lad, having a great time with his family and his mates... I think the way BMX riders have transferred skills within sport and social media is testament to their own creativity, with the likes of Mat and Matt Jones for example...
In a world of negativity and hate, Mat's channel really is a moment of calm and happiness. This is the content that needs pushing to our youth. He and the family deserve every moment of success. (and great interview)
I discovered Mat about a year ago while researching a car project. I love working on my car and Mat and his crew are having so much fun. I watch because Mat is a likable guy and I'm a car guy.
The thing about Mat's channel is that it is not just about cars. I don't like cars or at least I didn't. The channel is about having a go and persisting and having a laugh as you do it. Whatever you do.. repairing a house or building furtniture. I love Mat's channels because I leave feeling upliftrd and inspired.
👌 nail on the head! I'm in to cars but I love their attitude and view on life. Inspiring
You have come from humble a beginner, to what you all are now. I used to rebuild VW campervans split screens 1964, 6 volts and converte them to 12 volts. While I was still at school I also built trailers from scratch. Now I'm ex army and in a walker❤ to all on this channel.
He’s honest about what he knows, he’s able to laugh at himself (especially in those “engine very bad” moments 😂) and seems like a genuine guy. Plus, his dad Tony is GOLD with that laugh and a dog named Kevin. What’s not to love? Keep it up Mat and team!
On the story, I have watched you from around the first Aston Martin, I've mucked about with cars and bikes for years as a hobby(45yo), but you have given me the confidence to get stuck into tasks on my bikes that I wouldn't typically have tackled, the self-taught mechanic angle is endearing, that relates to loads of people.
Mats personality is a leading factor to the success .Also we as the general public can associate working with a dad and best friends ! Paradise. We also know we’re never going to afford a super car and appreciate looking inside the engine of a super car or similar sports car . So Matt is worth every penny he earns , and I love Tony too
I enjoy watching Mat rebuild "Crash Damaged" cars because he comes across as so genuine and real and he makes it look so easy to fix the cars that he works on. I would like to meet Mat and just shake his hand and say thank you for giving me an escape from my day-to-day grind!
With cancer...and bed ridden...I love what Matt does and who he is. Cheers mate
Get well soon ❤
@@hachi_2ba thank you. I appreciate it. Asking for help is tough
Get well soon David ❤
@MANIAC-RTID thank you mate
Mat deserves everything he has achieved! I have loved his journey!
The cool thing about Mat is that hes just very relatable and seems very down to earth. Type of lad every lad would be happy to call a mate.
I love Mat's accent ! Believe it or not this is the biggest reason I am devouring anything coming out of his content as an international English speaker.
Not any accent me duck, this is Leicester, or Lesta as locals say.
I’m sure that Matt’s inspiring story will garner a lot of (rightful) appreciation, but I think it’s also important to acknowledge just how far you’ve come as an interviewer. Your recent videos have come on leaps and bounds and I think your empathetic and enthusiastic approach to your guests and their subject matter makes your channel a must watch.
Mat is an inspiration.even at 60yrs old I can't wait to see his videos. His and his dad's laugh are very distinct.. keep em comming Mat
My son is a 20 year old RUclipsr who has been doing his own editing since he was 12 and I’m in awe at what he has learned and what he earns by such hard work 7 days a week
Me as a car guy form kids age I love to watch him and he has my respect what he's doing, and with how much love he's doing that basically with his family and a good friend. Keep doing that as long as you love too! I would love to guest wrenching with him just to feel the vibe 🤗❤️
For me, the fascination of watching you all rebuild the cars, is that most of us simply hand over our damaged car, to be repaired and we don't see behind the scene. What you do is incredibly clever and lifts the lid off a world that we don't have access to. I restore fine antique furniture and people who come into my shop, are fascinated by the process of structural and decorative restoration I think, in the same way that we watch you rebuild cars. Great chat, thanks for the hours of enjoyment that your channel has provided me.
This is the first time I have watched MA on a pod and it just confirmed what a legend he is for me.. We need more lads like this in this world. Great questions sent as well 👍 good watch
The ending had me in stitches. What an epic episode. Thank you for this, and i agree with Mat... after i started my own company... the "new lows" are... the "old highs".
I’m pretty sure we all watch mat because we aspire to have his personality
Thanks for helping me understand my son a bit better. I split up when he was young. Ive just started binge watching your channle and I love all aspects of it. thanks for doing what you do.
Matt you nailed it, we really do feel that we are there with you. You editing the videos your self is absolutely amazing Netflix would ruin it.
Brilliant interview, great guys. Was glad to hear that it was from lockdown, another success story, you've encouraged me to keep pressing on with my new adventure.
I watch Matt, Tavarish, Samcrac, Jack builds, Hoovies, B for Build, and others….I love cars and good content, that’s it.
RichRebuilds and Grind Hard are great as well
Great stuff as always Ben. Looking forward to whatever comes next from both yourself and Mat 👍
Guys I follow you both, I like the fact your both grounded and down to Earth. Don't loose that its what makes you who you are ....
My mum wouldn’t let me change 😂
I can 100% relate that feeling with the weather. I´m from one of the sunniest places in Spain and I live in Germany since 2015 and the mood change is absolutely real, specially in the winter. The time from november to february is a constant demotivation, it´s only work and sleep, I barely want to do anything more.
Great interview of one of my favorite Tubers. I think this sub count has risen so much is also since his Dad came on board. He is such a character, so funny and I love his strong Leicester accent.
Mat you are authentic! Watching you and your dad form a new bond on camera has been nothing short of magical. Every car guy's dream! Keep being you.
Much respect mat new to your stuff and watched nearly everything you’ve done such cracking guys around you that’s wot it’s all about as you grow keep your circle small & tight…your dad is proper old Skool defo need more of his antics…
This video had me in tears! 🥲 I’ve loved watching Matt and Tony do these cars and build the channel. It’s so inspiring to see what’s it’s became. Thank you for the podcast
Mat's videos have caused me to cheer at my computer out loud when they solve a big problem... so fun to watch.
What a sneaky Ninja Ginger!! I had no idea! The last part of that podcast was hilarious👌🏼. He’s a great guy, so are his team and this was a great watch! Kudos! Love to see fairly local people doing well!
Id love to see an interview with his dad, Tony
Tony seems a well funny bloke, like a laugh a minute
YES YES YES!!!!!!!
For sure it would be nice to meet Mat. When you put yourself out there in the public eye you do give up privacy. It is a fine line to be in both worlds. I wish you much success.
What I really enjoy about Matt is that he is genuine and he understands this is the secret sauce. He takes us on adventure of fixing the unfixable and we get to hang out in the garage with the gang and watch the ups and downs of these journeys. So many RUclips channels seem to lose this as soon as they become successful it seems like the content becomes an afterthought. I really like the Rolls Royce but to be honest if he had purchased a basket case Defender, Lancia, or Alpha it would be just as interesting to watch.
That's an insane fact that he edits all of the footage himself, that's not an easy job, really gained a lot of respect from that statement
Matt Armstrong you are my idol I would love to visit you whilst you are doing a build just to have the Matt Armstrong experience one love brother happy new year
Just watched the interview with Matt, bloody fantastic and such a great guy and working with his dad just breaks me up, love the music at the end as a proud Australian
To reiterate the comments from Freddie, although never having meet either of you your content and channel make us all feel like we have and that we are part of your team and best mates. The way you both edit the content of your channels is both refreshing and entertaining unlike the latest TV programs, I hope that you both continue for a very long time indeed.
He will be the best not that the other guys who really work hard to put content and share knowledge, i enjoy Matts videos cause his a humble dude and doesnt show off! He gives you the feeling that you right there chilling with watching the build he does it simply and doesn't complain n moan and use cuss words, thus he will go far.
Been watching your channels for a while now here in the US as well as other youtube people. I think the person that makes the video must have a great personality and you do it better than anyone . Don't change anything! I'm a motor head too having bought and restored a 1971 MG Midget. Great show and can't wait for the next video.
