I’m a woman in my 70’s and avidly watch every video with my husband. You come across as a person who sets an amazing standard of what a person should be. Well done.
Been following Matt since the TT and no one deserves the success he’s had more than him. Such a genuine nice guy and the editing and quality of his videos are next level. Even in the early days his effort into editing I believe is what made his channel blow up
And he hasn't made the mistake many YTubers do and thats to deviate away from what has made him successful, he keeps it about the cars and the projects rather than about him.
I met Mat with my wife and kids at Gravity show 2022. He was very kind and friendly. And Hanna gave my little boy a free airfreshener with Kevin's face on it. One of the things that he said to me that stood out was something on the lines of, he enjoys these shows and meeting people as most of his life is spent in the garage fixing the cars. He's worked so hard and deserves his success. Good luck Mat.
I'd say the main reason I started and continued to watch Mat's videos is because of how genuine is he. There's no BS, he's just clearly trying his best and having a laugh. Much deserved success!
Mat's rebuilds are brilliant and interesting but it's Mat himself that really makes the channel. He is such a likable guy, really engaging and entertaining. The team around are great too. I hope the channel keeps goes exactly where he wants it. I'm really liking your work too Ben. It's a great podcast.
Yes it's Mat himself, his a special one they all are a likable bunch of people. His dad makes me smile 😃 😊. My kids love Kevin they think his cute and funny 😁 they like everyone but the dog wins lol
You can see how genuine Mat is and how he’s far more comfortable talking to camera than in person. He obviously has a very wise head on his shoulders and learns fast when it comes to his business model. The biggest thing about Mat over and above anything else is he’s so likeable and has remained true to himself. The Mat we saw rebuilding the TT is still the same Mat we see today (yes the builds have got bigger and the video quality better) but as a person he is no different. Great interview👍🇬🇧
Mat being Mat. And Mat, if you ever read this comment - I’m sure people come up to you not because you’re a YT star, but because they feel that you’re their mate. That’s how you come over on your videos….just a normal bloke having fun. Don’t ever change fella….you’re going to go far 👏👏👏👏👍
I am not surprised his videos are so popular, he is hard working, affable, genuine, truthful and informative, and has chosen a subject universally interesting, as others have said, he deserves every bit of success ....... keep going all the way Mat 👍🙏
What Mat said about people finding his channel then watching the previous builds is 100%. I know nothing about cars but got totally hooked on it all. His and Freddy’s channels are now some of my favourites. He says hard work beats talent but truth is he is a talented lad - great editing, fun builds and not afraid to show mistakes. Makes us feel we are all learning on his journey with him 👍🏻
Matt just comes across as such a nice, genuine guy and I really hope he smashes RUclips records in the future. Just keep on doing what you're doing, dude! Oh and great interview too!!
Great story how mat evolved. One aspect that he doesn’t consider is, his personality is part of his appeal. He comes across as genuinely excited and passionate about what he’s doing, if he had a bland personality, I doubt his channel would have become as successful.
Matt is a totally genuine and humble guy, that really shines through in his content. The rebuilds are very aspirational, rebuilding super cars form scrap that normally regular folk could otherwise never afford. Matt is out there doing what every weekend Garage warriors dream is to do. I love the relationships he has with his Dad, Girlfriend and his mates. They are all in it with him and they are focused on the one goal. Good luck Matt in all you do.👍
Im 50 Young and recently discovered your channel (2-3 weeks ago and allmost finished playlists on main chan now 😂) After first video i was basically hooked. The mix of your positive and "lets try it" personality paired with your dads coolness and giggles + choice of seemingly crazy broken cars (the structural carbon i thought would be a spare part in the end tbf) makes it entertaining (and the sound of a Porsch ,Lambo,Ferrari engine first start helps) Add no real car mechanic background makes it addictive to look at. Sometimes wanna just jump in and say, why not make a groove for the o-ring instead if risking another engine teardown, but....its history now 😊 and you made it work, im still worried about that lambo o ring that leaked 3 times. I believe they milled the head = milled the o-ring grooves away and forgot to re-add them. Waiting for last episodes on a few builds....patiently 😇
I'm a car guy, an i never watch a car restoration video front to back. For whatever reason, Mat's videos are so educational and relatable, you almost feel like you can do it yourself because he breaks it down to the absolute basics and does the hard work, no matter how shitty it is. So glad to find his channel. Wish him the best!
One thing the video shows is just how hard Matts worked, he’s put so much effort in to his dreams and they’ve worked and he thoroughly deserves it. Love his channel, love his enthusiasm and long may his videos continue.
I love all of Mats videos. Found him a few months ago and have watched most of his builds. I think the fact he’s genuine is a reason he’s exploded in growth.
I've said this before, followed Matt from the TT days. Love the humbled attitude with the confidence that's growing with his mechanical ability! And getting your dad onboard is probably his greatest genius ❤️
Love Mat’s channel! Here’s what people aren’t factoring in….the labor that he doesn’t have to “pay”! That’s where people are loosing money. To have a team of family and close friends is amazing!
This was a fantastic interview, I love success stories like this, grass roots to high highs… I knew Matts life was going to spiral upwards since his first TT video. He has such a positive outlook on life, and it’s going on like a family business now, seeing his dad and girlfriend all the time is refreshing. Nothing seems too much for him and I know he mentions he does some “sketchy things” but he learns as he goes and never puts anything or anybody down. Again, brilliant interview, thanks very much
Great interview. I think Mat has a good shot at being the biggest car repair RUclipsr, he is so genuine and his excitement and enthusiasm really come across and make his viewers excited too.
Most likeable thing about Matt is his personality hasn't changed since his earliest videos such a humble bloke, watched the latest Lambo build in awe of his technical and mechanical ability.
Matt has found his Niche' in his young life. I wish him future success beyond today's. It's great to see somebody start something out of nothing and find a winning formula. 😊
I found his channel when he purchased the lambo and I've been hooked and now hooked on Freddies channel. The only thing I would say is Matt makes it look so easy I think I could build a car now.
Love this guy, and all his crew and family, I'm a relatively new subscriber came in with the Lambo, no real interest in cars, not mechanically minded, and i don't drive. Yet find it really interesting. The personality from them all is what makes us tune in every video. Who hasn't dreamed of owning some of those cars! I follow Tavarish and Jack Builds It now too. Through following Matts content!
The two the guys that deserve all of this are Matt and Joe Achilles. Genuine journeys, hard work ethic, dope content (helping idiots like me understand more) and risk tolerance. Always take risk. Comfortable makes us weak. It’s gruelling at times, yet working out what you need to do to stay in the game and executing that strategy is the difference between success and failure. Stay relevant, and deliver, consistently. Much, much harder than people believe.
I’ve been watching Mat since he worked on his girlfriends 1 series BMW.He’s a breath of fresh air on RUclips.Always sitting in wait for his next video. He deserves all the success he gets.
Love Matt im not a car person in particular but love this channel and can’t wait for the weekly videos to pop up. Well done to all involved an inspiration
Mat and his team produce some of the best content on our screens. The "fly on the wall" format works and the emotional highs & lows make for enthralling viewing, pulling in a huge audience. As with those he collaborates with (Tavarish / Vin Wiki / RE Performance and even Road to Success), there is a huge market for professional quality. The few seconds of sponsorship and product placement within each video (Time for a Y-Food!) do not interfere with the enjoyment. The 2nd channel and the "full build" videos are masterstrokes. We have come a long way from Wheeler-Dealers. The Road to Success podcast is also great. Well researched and informative interviews, and taking the studio on the road is a great idea. Keep it up !!
Superb content Wasn't boring and great to hear stories from a realist about past present and future..We all wish you well mat and fam upwards and onwards🎉
He is an artist.Film him working on cars without the editing and nobody would watch.Being a gearhead myself I respect the fact that he jumps in and figures it out. Also, how he tracks down the parts he needs just blows my mind. That takes alot of time and patience.I really like Tony as well and I wish my dad was as involved in my life.
I'm in South Africa .I enjoy your shows big time...I really respect and appreciate the way u fix crashed car not forgetting your personality ❤❤ u the best Mat😊
Such a top guy , there are so many of todays generation who expect the earth but are not prepared to put the work in to achieve it . They need to watch this , thats how you do it . Mat a inspiration to us all.
there a lot of channels like matts but what makes him different is that he is having fun with the journey of fixing the cars and also honest that he is learning while in the process of fixing the cars. to be honest tavarish's channel was like that before but due to his videos coming out to far in between most people (like me) are looking for other videos with the same content to watch. there are a lot of rebuilding channels here but matt has been very entertaining while doing the rebuilds and you can see that in all his videos that even if he gets frustrated he always looks at the bright side of things.
Incredible journey of a very humble young man with an outstanding supportive father. Mat you have a very characteristic personality with a great vision, well done mate
Hi Mike I watched the interview. And I see a fantastic guy who has literally worked for everything he’s got. People can’t stand to see your success in life. But you said you had nothing after leaving school. I take my hat off to you Mike. In this country people would rather see failure. You are living proof that The same opportunities are out there for any young guy to take up and make something in life. What a nice Guy. All the Best Mike
Matt is a genuine success, self-made, humble, and he and Hannah have done it all themselves. He deserves everything he's achieved. He says, hard work beats talent, but he's too humble because he won't admit he's got the latter in spades.
Matt signed one of my keychains (daily one) and sent me a t shirt and hoody in a mystery box. Absolute legend. I was over the moon that he took the time to write on the receipt too. Such a genuine lad. Ive got a ton of fast cars and Im an absolute petrol head so its fun to watch someone take their passion onto youtube and make something of it. Im potentially going to be doing this myself soon. Wish me luck!
Great video! Best podcast you’ve put out so far, can definitely tell you’ve taken on people’s constructive criticism and implemented it into the podcast. Well done 👏🏻
That's exactly why I love mats channel, which I just found, I'm doing same thing with property, I don't know squat about cars but love cars. It's the best channel on RUclips
Never heard of this channel before. Have been a Mat Armstrong 'fan' for quite a while so finally clicked to watch this vid after ignorong it for a few weeks. Subbed. This vid was bang on the money (bar the iffy sound at one point!), and I'd not realised how much I'm intersted in this side of RUclips. The interview was well researched, well conducted with intelligent Qs asked, and Matt was obviously a great interviewee with very revealing honesty and his good nature. Trouble is, I'm sat here now trying to figure out what i need to do to get off the rat race conveyerbelt! Think one of my problems is I have too many varied interests and most successful people seem to be more focussed in a single direction. I haven't given up on this dream but not going to give up the day job just yet!
Matt you are really just so good in front of the camera I think we all just like watching you. plus doing a lot of the things with your dad is so special. fast cars are a bonus.
I have to say that when I first saw one of Matt's videos, which was when he did an F30 335D tune with Mallory, I judged the book by the cover having never been a fan of the whole tattoo and big holes in the ears things but I have grown to have a huge amount of respect and admiration for his spirit and have a go attitude and his whole ethos of hard work beating talent, but of course that is changing as he learns by throwing himself into some awesome projects that most people would'nt go anywhere near. So now I see him working his ar** of and his talent growing day by day and by god is his channel entertaining and for me as a life long engineer having worked at all levels in the automotive and automotive sport industries I can only say well done Matt, keep on challenging yourself, keep on learning and keep the great content coming fella. Hope you get the Veyron some day soon.
It has been two days of my best life watching 3hrs videos of Matt, insane right, I'm not that patient but boy oh boy this guy is super amazing.I appreciate your love for cars and the great job you put to give life back to the crashed cars ❤❤❤.
Very enjoyable podcast. Matt, the reason we follow the M5, is because that's the car we have or can afford. Ferrari's are great, but unaffordable for most. Keep up the good work, it's wonderful to see your progression.
Great insight from a super energetic, honest, inquisitive and fun guy. What is interesting and surprising is that CAR VERTICAL doesn't include the history of a car that's been at auction. That should be an easy addition to show previous auctions a car has been listed on.
Mat has an accent which international crowd can understand yet still it is the Brittish accent.10 out of 10 in education, entertainment all boils down to a time well spent. Keep up the good work Mat!
Love Mat's channel. He brings something different to the table, even though he's doing the same thing as a bunch of others including Tavarish, I enjoy Mat's personality more than the others
I have only recently started following Matt after seeing him on the Gumball Rally. I am impressed with how he has been able to create his brand. I am a late bloomer with youtube and now follwoing 150 channels many car channels as part of my viewing pleasure. I dont watch commercial TV so this is a perfect alternative. Keep up the good work Matt
I'll admit my shallowness; I wouldn't generally give this type of guy a second glance, but he has (on screen) very much proven the saying "don't judge a book by its cover" very true. Amongst a crowd of very pretentious automotive "RUclipsrs", his personality shines, and appears to be an extremly likeable guy. In addition to his persona, there are two more outstanding features of his channel. The first is the amount of content in each video. He gives the viewer a lot of content in every video, whereas the majority of the "competition" will string viewers along, and frankly often leave them disappointed at the end of a video. Mat always ends a video on a high, and that's extremely commendable. Second, the production is simply first class. The editing, sound, flow, are worthy of some kind of award. Considering all of this is self-taught, including the scripting/filming/editing, it's inspiring. In my humble opinion, Mat does indeed seem worthy of becomming the world's biggest automotive RUclipsr.
Not forgetting that Yorkshire Car Restoration has Matts BMW 635 CSI and doing the body work - their channel has picked up a load of subs because of Matt.
I've been watching his videos since the TT. When I saw the 996 GT3 series I was like damn, I could've met him up there (I live in Florida) lol. He just seems like he deserves every bit of fame and fortune he gets. He's the most sincere person I think I've ever seen in the world of self made digital creators. I'd love to meet him and mentor under him, maybe he could do that next, I'd be interested. Anyways, really awesome interview, you've gained a follower in the States with this one.
Half an hour in you talk about knowledge . My Grandfather told me a long time ago "The more you know , the more you realize how little you actually know"
Awesome guy, i had bought my S5 at the same time his video got out and used it a lot to help do my mods. Great guy, great story, all the best for him in the future.
Thanks for the videos Matt. Just want to point this out the success of top gear was also down to the personalities of Clarkson, May and Hammond. You also have this yourself Matt. I think your fun and easy to watch so well done you only just discovered you so I’m another follower. Thanks again.
I’m a woman in my 70’s and avidly watch every video with my husband. You come across as a person who sets an amazing standard of what a person should be. Well done.

I agree Mat is the "Crocodile Hunter" of cars
Mat seems such a genuine, honest, hardworking guy. Good luck to him!!
Matt is a totally genuine and humble guy, that really shines through in his content. Matt is natural without thinking about people reactions and he love what he did ! that 's the key like chris slix :)
Summed it up at the end! People want it real. And Mat is 100% real
Great interview. May is a really genuine and honest guy. So refreshing to watch a channel without any foul language. Keep up the good work.👍
Matt you are really just so good in front of the camera I think we all just like watching you. plus doing a lot of the things with your dad is so special. fast cars are a bonus.
Why do you feel the need to judge people on their appearance, how shallow
Bit shallow ....I hope no one judges you by your appearance
*Mat*
@@wastedrainbow1814 not shallow, just being honest. Is being honest a problem now???
@@mlgboy1 100% shallow just because you think it's honest doesn't make it not shallow judging someone by their appearance....
Banger. Not sure how you’re going to top this but I’m sure you have plans!
Love this, great interview from both sides of the mic 👏👏👏
It has been two days of my best life watching 3hrs videos of Matt, insane right, I'm not that patient but boy oh boy this guy is super amazing.I appreciate your love for cars and the great job you put to give life back to the crashed cars ❤❤❤.
Matts point of difference other than his advanced skill level is his down to earth personality, he always appeals on an equal level.
Very enjoyable podcast. Matt, the reason we follow the M5, is because that's the car we have or can afford. Ferrari's are great, but unaffordable for most. Keep up the good work, it's wonderful to see your progression.
Good for you Mat. Everyone's routing for you, including me. Love the videos and its so nice to see a genuinely nice guy succeeding.
Awesome Podcast, great to hear from Matt. Its harder than everyone thinks to do well on YT!
Now reached 41.21 and now 46.45 I am getting more impressed by this guy.. A revelation..
Mr ENTERTAINMENT
the thing with matt is, hes just a humble guy doing something he loves thats what people want none of the bullshit in between
I know Matt channel since he rebuild the Audi S5 and still watch him every single time. well done mate
Great insight from a super energetic, honest, inquisitive and fun guy.
What is interesting and surprising is that CAR VERTICAL doesn't include the history of a car that's been at auction. That should be an easy addition to show previous auctions a car has been listed on.
I used to work with mat when i was younger. I remember seeing the TT and him telling me that he bought it from the insurance. He is a real sound guy
Also people forget, Matt is a massive personable RUclipsr. He is so watchable. Coupled with his dad who is so laid back. You can’t buy that.
I just discovered Matt's channel and loved watching all his videos and energy!
He and his dad are a joy to watch...Great parents!
You two complement one other . The content is interesting to listen to . Long may it reign .
The similarities between Mat's experience and Tavarish is striking.
Not forgetting that Yorkshire Car Restoration has Matts BMW 635 CSI and doing the body work - their channel has picked up a load of subs because of Matt.

ChrisFix, Tarvish and Mat Armstrong are probably my 3 fav car repair/maintenance channels.
Matts a huge inspiration for myself with just starting my own automotive youtube channel.
Good point!
Love watching Mat's videos....keep doing what you're doing Mat, the way you do it😊
So hyped to watch this!
In response after watching... Brilliant episode.
Really love what Mat is doing. Think he's got a way to catch up with Mighty Car Mods but I'd love to see it.
Brilliant video lads. Great to see Matt so successful with his RUclips channel
The interviewer is really good at his job, he just lets us listen to the whole story. Some interviewers interrupt so much and it's a pain in the a**
