EVDANCE sent me their Tesla to J1772 charging adapters to test out and this really is a game changer. One is a fairly small size that works well. The really nice on is their mini Tesla to J1772 EV charging adapter. It's about the size of a Tesla Tap Mini, but costs a lot less than a Tesla Tap. And they both work great with my Kia EV6 with no issues. Check out the review and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!

  • @TechnicallyJeff

This is a crazy good deal compared to a Tesla Tap Mini. Let me know if you have any questions. And be sure to subscribe for more videos! 😀

  • @adambuchanan8460

Sorry Jeff. Tried two of these and neither would charge my EV6. First one got stuck on the Tesla charger and started sparking too. Do not recommend.

  • @bradbike

Interesting...might be a necessity with road charging folks. We purchased the 1772 Tesla brand wall connector, back in April, for our KИ. It's just like BetaMax all over again. 🤷

  • @DrakeDealer

The point of getting the Tesla Tap is that you’re not getting chinesium. It’s made in the USA, so of course it’s expensive. I would rather not risk fires.

  • @monkeyrun

honestly would not cheap out on something like this. if anything goes wrong it could do a lot of damage.

  • @sanglee1609

I’m not worried about someone unplugging me, but will there be a spark or damage my car if the Tesla end is unplugged while charging? I am thinking of returning it since I can’t lock that end. Have you tested that by chance?

  • @brianborkowski5977

Why do people need to lock during charging? What is the concern? Do you trust third party chargers that they used the correct wire gauge.

  • @ArtiePenguin1

If you can, you should do a test on a Tesla Destination Charger/Wall Connector. Those likely have a different communication protocol than the portable Tesla Mobile Connector you have. With destination chargers is usually where the non-TeslaTap adapters have issues since you have to wait 30 seconds or plug things in a certain order.

  • @robertkaufman6602

I am a bit confused. This is for home use assuming you have a Tesla charger installed at your home? Or can you somehow use this at a public level 2 Tesla charger? If so, now does one set up an account with Tesla for a non-Tesla EV?

  • @RamenNSoup

I tried the 80 amp mini for just a couple of minutes today at a Tesla destination charger and it worked fine. It pulled 4.4 kw but I think it's because they had three Tesla chargers there and maybe they all shared a circuit? Two model 3's were plugged into the other two. I plugged in the dedicated J1772 Clipper Creek 32 amp they had there and went back to charging at 6.2 kw. I wonder what I would have pulled if I was the lone care there... Anyways this is very comforting to have on hand, thanks!

  • @kenridge2

Just ordered the mini adapter! Thank you Jeff!

  • @kiaev6d

So glad these work! Thanks for reviewing!

  • @wellsbengston4132

Thank you for this review. I just purchased one for our RX450h+ to give us more options when we stay in hotels. It worked fine at a local hotel!

  • @ArcaneEdge

I kept playing Back to the Future 1.21 gigs watts in my head when ever you said the charging speed haha. Nice review, might have to pick me up one of those

  • @eastwind319

I bought the EVDance 80A (mini) back in August. I have lots of Tesla destination chargers around where I live, but the ones I tried tried the adapter at didn't ever charge my Nissan Leaf. I also tried a few other ones too, but the only one I ever got to work at all the DCs was the TeslaTap mini import. My research before getting that one indicated that sometimes the DCs are set for only charging Tesla vehicles and that the import version of the TTmini has a chip/circuit that can fool the DCs that aren't set to allow all makes of EVs. Some of the other DCs in my area that I tried could charge my car with the EVDance and some other adapters. But those were the ones that weren't the ones that I wanted to use so often (locations that I was near)

  • @DP-og2oq

Ordered 80amp mini just now .. ~26% off of 79.99 .. 59.49 plus tax. Thanks TJ

  • @user-qm7up6gm1e

Just take the order, thanks jeff

  • @dennisbloom8611

I just checked your Amazon link and they’ve already increased the price by $20! This is a few hours after you posted the review. Sheesh, it was a reasonable cost, but maybe they’ll drop it once inventory goes back up?

  • @jcc6637

It's a bummer the mini one is 'currently unavailable'. I wanted to buy it. Thanks for introducing it anyway.

  • @andysimon7081

Based on Amazon reviews and your video, I went ahead and got both adapters just to see which one I prefer. So far, they both work like a charm! I may keep both since the total cost of both of them was still less than just one from other brands. Is there any point to having 2? Fortunately, the mini version had a 30% coupon. Thanks for the review!
