Stock vs. stock, L15B7 vs. K24A2, in a DC2, the L15B7 will smoke a K24. The K series transmissions are weaker than the turbo L series since the L is built for greater torque. You cannot do 500hp on a stock block with the L15B like the K though. You can, however, make 300hp and gobs of torque with a reflash stock on a L15B. Much like the B series vs. K series, it's all up to the person building the car. Hasport makes axles for this swap currently. The K20C is a tougher swap since there's a good bit of cutting required to accommodate the beefier transmission and Hasport has these too, but they are special order.

@@acevedohiram The only awd l15 transmissions are CVTs, so thats kind of a bummer. Also the l15be in those cars only makes 190hp compared to the 160 in the element k24, so its not really worth doing compared to putting a supercharger on the k24a4 or swapping to a k24a2
Also - axles are easy on this swap with the non si transmissions. Off the shelf options available for both though. I make use of OEM axles from other Hondas, all of which I can replace at any O’Reillys/autozone.
I think for me, what makes Honda so special is that they are reliable and competitive in motorsport in NA applications. its hard to say for sure if the L15B7 or the K20C will catch on by most Honda people.
Mark bro, I have missed your videos sumpin fierce! I havent seen you in FOREVER for some reason. I saw a 2024 Integra Type-S the other day with a turbo 6 speed manual and I fell in love. I asked dude if I could take pics of it and he was ALL about it. It was the first new Integra that I've ever seen. He did everything but let me drive it, and he might have let me if I asked, but he was really cool. He was as excited about it as I was! Edit: I have been inundated with work lately and I'm a truck driver, so most of my favorite channels are ignored, but I'm trying to catch up. It wasn't because I was ignoring you.
I could see the L15 going into older/smaller chassis, like the Ef civics, and the 1g CRX. It would also be a good candidate for the old mini cooper. I don't think it is a great swap for an integra. The B-series is more than capable of making that power just by adding a turbo. No vibrations from aftermarket mounts either. For the Element, I'm still waiting for Hasport to make some J-series mounts. They keep teasing it.
I really like how it looks in that integra as well as that ek with the L15 swap. makes the 90s car look more modern in the engine bay. i also like that it makes great tq out the box and is probably decent on gas as well
@manlb9254 it's had 93 running in it since I bought it new, and I just got all the work done with arp studs new timing chain and clutch at the same time. Hopefully it'll last longer. But in all seriousness honda sucks for this one
TF works is working on a swap kit with a miata trans to run the L15 rear wheel drive. In a light weight chassis as a fun street car? perfect choice with the torque. We're finally starting to see more and more DI capable standalone management approaching enthusiast level accessibility. To me this is what will make the l15 and similar engines more viable.
Yooo whats good ??? I been following wit you since you got da9 and i use to have 2 of them but i got fg2 !!! Planning keeping long time but this video LOVE IT !!! If i had the money i love to get motor put in a honda cars that fit 🔰 in the future!! And DOPE VLOGS …. Keep it up bro here in San francisco, California
My 8th gen si with a k24a swap is pretty hard to beat. It paired to the lower gear ratio 6 speed makes it stay in the sweet spot for amazing power for na.
@@acevedohiram yeah that is very true. You make a good point. Not everyone wants a manual. I’m just surprised across the board that no one uses Hondas 8 speed dct. Maybe it can’t take much more power than stock?
Bro noones gona do a l15 swap in a honda element or tsx… where l15 makes sense is when someone wants a new engine in a civic. Original k20s are gettin old and most k20s are high miles.. if l15 cost same as old k swap it wud only make sense to choose l15 cuz it probably much lighter and lower miles. Plus few bolt on and youll make more power than traditional k swap. For ex l15 will make way more power just bolt ons cuz its already got a turbo vs traditional k swap you gotta buy turbo kit or go all motor. The daily driver aspect of it that its lighter and can be better on fuel.
I like to do a clean tuck one with a Clean Eg Cx chassis with Ac .. Oem look.. be nice with 300hp daily smog CA legal one.. more than enough power and fun for a Eg chassis.
It's price. B series is drying up. The l15 doesn't make high hp but has a ton of torque. Even with an of the shelf ktuner map. They make more tq than hp in those instances. Like he said, think daily driver or even a track setup.
The L15s are cheap and plentiful since they come in every newer civic/accord/crv. You can do the swap for the price of a K, and make a reliable 250whp/300tq all day with some basic tuning and bolt ons. Mine has held up to over a year of racing/time attack in my EK and still going!
@L15B7EK make sure it's got upgraded headstuds. I'm very leery on mine now ever since it blew the head gasket. Only 70k miles maintained very well. Crossing my fingers the arp head studs fix this motors downfall
Lots of guys coping and seething at the L15B7 being a potential future swap option 😂 your B series is out of date, your K series is cool and all but a daily with 250+ Trq at 2,000rpm is a better deal!
Damn no love for the second gen CR-V. For me the question would be if there’s a transmission that’s awd for my V? As a person that lives in Los Angeles California I haven’t done anything to my V due to Californias bullshit emissions so I’m I favor of anything that’s smog legal and more power.

This is not true at all lmao
Lol!!!
You guys should do it L15 vs K24

Do you guys foresee this ever being in a 7th gen civic?
@ i’m not sure if it ever would, we are confident we can get it done but may be more costly than our avg $15k cost right now for the older chassis
why would you put an l15 in an element when it already has a k24
If you live in California, having a CARB legal turbo engine swap is goals. Specially when it’s plug and play
@@Sk8orDieWorldWide The CTE and JRSC k series superchargers are already carb legal tho
@@Sk8orDieWorldWide Also you'd have to remove the awd setup in the element for l15 swap which kinda ruins the point of the chassis
@lafave2555 why couldn't the l15 from the new crv be adapted to work?

Happy to see the L15 coverage. I have been using this swap in my EK for time attack racing over a year now and love it. Such a fun swap!

The L15 can make some power, just gotta get ARP head studs.

Its not an upgrade for sure, but it is a solution to the problem of B series being over 30 years old and theres fewer and fewer by the day
Too tall.

Hopefully this engine gets fixed. Head gasket issues are very common on the L15B7. Mine didn't make it past 70k miles before mine went.
I hear arp headstuds help. Also running high octane 93 also helps

they definitely have issues due to the small oem head bolts. we at group n garage make our own spec studs to resolve this issue

this swap is for older chassis (golden era) i wouldn’t install into a newer K car
If you have someone make an adapter plate to merry the L15 with a k manual trans and a custom intermediate shaft and bam there you go
Why did they go for a cvt? Why not a 5-6 speed? Or maybe an 8 speed dct out of the ilx?
The ilx was straight K series. It probably wasn't a bolt up and go situation
@ yeah I forgot about that haha. But damn swapping in a cvt is a violation 🚫
@HighhScore in an original auto car it wouldn't be bad. The Si swap would be the best for a manual chassis though
@@acevedohiram yeah that is very true. You make a good point. Not everyone wants a manual. I’m just surprised across the board that no one uses Hondas 8 speed dct. Maybe it can’t take much more power than stock?
this car is a 6speed, as i presented our shop integra many owners actually wanted cvt for there daily civic / older 2000 crv
I asked that company an estimate to do an L15 swap, they told me 13k if I bring a rolling shell 👍
L15 swaps are going to be great for 2001 & up civic
Personally I’m not opposed to this engine swap. It’s just not a pretty motor, lol!
Might be a good candidate for the 2013+ CRZ's since their canbus wiring is a nightmare, lol.
The L15 will be a new swap as tech and support grow. Let's face it: you don't see many until you see one down the track making numbers or times.
Your an idiot
First Da L15 mark

Best swap for an element is J series and that’s that
I hope to L swap a CRZ. Keeping the L series alive

After the first 3 minutes of seeing Ev swaps im going to give up. They have their place but i was here for fun. I see no fun.

L15 is a shit engine. That engine doesn't do well with additional power. K24 all the way.
