- The house is coming into shape and form with the rough framing completed. BEEFY v8-grade Glulam beams were hoisted into place to make this a truly modern post and beam construction. We also hit a scary snag with one of the gable structures, but it was systematically addressed and rebuilt.
As with all things custom, expect hurdles and obstacles that you will have to overcome... and with something that has the intricacy and scale of a house, this is no exception.
Here is Part 1 of the build:

came for the 86 and now i'm stoked on the bougie ass house for no reason lol
Forget cars, this is my favorite series on RUclips right now
looking forward to part three! house is looking sick!
thanks! lots more to show and catch up on
I just found your channel. I live in Texas and love Eichler’s! The prices are unreal but I understand floor plans can be bought. I do hope you will give another update. The new build is a great idea and I can hardly wait to hear more about it!
Hi, I was recommended this video because I watch a lot of mid-century architecture videos. Congratulations on your house being built! My wife and I live in a 1955 Eichler-esque post and beam architect designed house in Houston. You're right! They are OLD!!! My family lives in the Bay Area and we been to lots of Eichler open houses over the years. Thanks for the videos!
Nice very exciting stuff.. Glad your recording everything..So many ppl build houses and never record or take pictures of the process..I recorded my entire process from being to end.. Look forward to seeing part 3...👍🏽
That’s dope, the view too 😎 sheeesh
bro nice cameo

Alright brother. Time for another car video. It’s been quite a while now eh!!!
Hey man wondering how you're doing, love your videos. What job do you do actually aside from RUclips?
Very interesting. I think it's quite rare to design a modern house (loosely) after an Eichler. Custom building in a time when everything is prefab can't be easy or cheap, i applaud the bravery!
I own a custom built genuine MCM (a large International style built in 1962) and just to find people who are able to work on it is a nightmare lol, a lot of skill has been lost.
Is the house done? Will you do a walk through?
Great video, can’t wait for part 3 👍🏼
This is very interesting interpretation with the concrete base. I am just starting your series. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
So sick
Coming along nicely Eric 🙌🏾
You don’t think eventually you’d want a garage with a separate bay to work on your cars? I know you kinda downsized with cars for now but maybe you’ll have that urge down the road again…
it would be nice but I figured I'd just move a car into the car port when I want more space in the garage for a project. I don't think I'd ever have 2 or more personal projects going on at the same time... if I did, that would be better served in an actual shop space. The house right now is evenly partitioned into 3 sections, L-R. Making the garage huge would throw that off.
@@CornerBalanced ah, I see…flow or Feng Shui is important.
@@swpdisciple every dimension needs to be intentional
Have you considered installing a retractable roof above the atrium?
You ok?
Any updates on the house progress 😊
Did you move up to oregon?
Not yet, but I will when this house is done
Where's the fixed gear?
How do I reset the trip counter on my 1996 C2 993?
Where do you get your funding from? It seems you have a lot of time and money
Where’s part 3
this series ain't hittin so may have to just cut straight to the finale instead
@@CornerBalanced I literally check weekly to see progress. I cannot wait to see the finished house and interior.
@@sibun7153 still in progress but it's definitely getting close now. I hope to move in soon and wrap things up.
I take it the home isn't in california anymore. I haven't seen that type of foundation building in CA in a long time
It's in the PNW. What's different about this foundation build vs what's in CA?
@@CornerBalanced in CA it is cost prohibitive (and probably no longer code), to build basement type foundations, even up against a slop. So in CA the foundation can only be a slab on grade (shallow foundation)
Is this structure corner balanced?
it's gable balanced
How is the house going? Part3?
It's finally nearly done after an excruciating process... I'll post about it soon
wen update?
good question... :(
@@CornerBalanced house done or major delays?
@@ReidEvers trying to get out of that prolonged "almost done" phase
@@CornerBalanced Gotcha, best of luck!
