    I love using a Trequartista as a lone striker with two wide players moving into the space that he opens up, when he drops back and draws the CB's with him. It is a great way to create a fake strikerless system with him creating a midfield diamond by dropping back. The only thing I find a bit sad is that every player who can really play in that role is basically a CF. Still, Trequartista and Target Forward are by far my favourite roles for strikers.

      Great idea for the formation/use of the role. I think my love of the #10 (kinda like what I talked about in the video) means I miss out on trying some other formations that could really be effective. Thanks for the addition, hopefully other people see this and try out it out

      Could be interesting to look up Francesco Totti in FM during his prime for the lone forward Trequartista. Think he would fit the role perfectly as well.

    I agree the Trequartista (TQ) excels in the "No. 10" role. Using him as a striker or on the flanks requires more physical skills, but in the No. 10 position, he is supported by both the midfield and strikers. IMHO his main function is to find and exploit space (Anticipation, Decisions, Off the Ball), with creativity being secondary. Given it's almost impossible to find a Messi, I prioritize technique, movement, and balance over pace and acceleration.
    I use him in a 4-2DM-3-1 formation, behind a Pressing Forward who, along with the wingers, handles the pressing (high Workrate and Stamina). This setup lets the TQ roam and find space when we gain possession. I've found penetrating space is crucial, and even 'mediocre' players overperform due to this ability.
    Key Player Traits: Move Into Channels, Get Into Opposition Area (if a decent finisher or good in the air), Plays One-Twos, and Dictates Tempo (if a decent creator, helps with refining your team's pace of Counter-attacks if GeggenPressing/ fast paced Vertical Tiki-Taka). I avoid "Gets Forward Whenever Possible" since he connects the defensive midfield with the attack. There are so many parameters and combinations to consider.😃

    So, in my recent save in FM23 with Roma, i started using the Trequartista in the left in my 4-3-3 because i had a great young german newgen that i think is perfect for the role and that is evolving at a fast rate and has almost all important stats in 15 or above. The interesting thing is that, he´s doing pretty good at the role but.... I hired Velasco at the start of the season as a free contract from Man City and... he was the sub... untill he started playing like prime Messi in the Trequartista xD the only stat he has higher than 15 is the dribbling and my man stated smashing everyone, mid of the season he has like 15 goals and 10 assists playing serie A and UCL against Top teams and being the best player consistently, he has like 20 Appearences and some more from the bench and hes average rating is like 7,20 all competitions and 7,30 in Serie A, with some higher than 8,00 matches... Hes just a 13-14 attribute average stats in the key attributes and he even has just 12 passing and 15 vision and makes prime Messi passes xD
    I think the Trequartista role is pretty special, even when you use it with someone that is not Messi level, for sure that level would be insane, and i at some point will make a player in the editor with Prime Messi stats to see what i can get out of the Trequartista role and see if i can reach Prime Real Life Messi stats ahahahhaah but the role is just insanity, i love it so much, and my Velasco is loving it too, just average Serie A player destroying UCL level teams is fun man xD

    Another great role explanation thank you Sir!
    Ah as a football romantic love the trequartista - the heartthrob of the midfield, the elusive artist with a killer touch. Imagine this:
    The game throbs with energy, a dance between two teams. Your forwards are the dazzling strikers, the ones who steal the spotlight with breathtaking goals. But who sets the stage for their brilliance? Enter the trequartista.
    Playing in that sweet spot, the three-quarter zone of the pitch, they are the midfield maestro. They see the entire game unfold like a symphony, weaving through defenders with balletic grace. Their passes are like whispered promises, finding their target with pinpoint precision.
    The trequartista isn't about brute force or thunderous strikes. They are the puppeteer, the one who pulls the strings from the shadows. A delicate touch, a feathery pass that splits the defense like a sigh - that's the trequartista's magic.
    They are the embodiment of the beautiful game, the architect behind the symphony of goals. They may not always be the ones in the limelight, but their influence is undeniable. Theirs is a love letter written in passes, a silent promise that ignites the fire in the forwards' hearts.
    So, the next time you witness a game, keep an eye out for the trequartista - the one who conducts the attack, the silent magician weaving his web of creativity. They are the soul of the midfield, the artist whose brushstrokes paint victory on the canvas of the pitch.

    I remember in real life, Trequartista was popular in Italy in the 2000 to 2010, in Kaka (Milan) and later in Wesley Sneijder (Inter). In 2009/2010, Mourinho unlock Sneijder in league tactic 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond mid), having absolute freedom behind Diego Milito (playing as a DLF-A) and Samuel Etoo (playing as AF), and using a classic 4-2-3-1 in Champions League games, where Sneijder was playing the Trequartista role, but hybrid one, from CM position (simultaneously beeing CM-A, and Trequartista), roaming and going in spaces, that Milito opened playing as a lone striker (DLF-A). Also Don Carlo used Kaka in similar way in his Milan 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond), having a BWM in Gatuso, DLP in Pirlo, and in front of him Shevchenko (AF) and Filippo Inzaghi (Poacher). Today in real life this role sadly is not in use so much, because this role has absolute freedom to roam, which Pep kid of killed it.

    I had a winger with lots of creativity, passing, and dribbling, who could shoot and cross but wasn't as good at either as he was at creating with the ball. I used him as a wide treq. The nice thing is that it doesn't require pace, so an older winger with those stats can be used in the role as effectively as a younger faster winger. Essentially, his role allows him to come super deep to receive the ball, and then distribute or progress the ball as he sees fit. Since he got older, I adjusted his roles specifically to have him hold up the ball and cross from deep, and I actually saw an increase in his assists from that. Essentially, he can find a hole between the midfield and the back line, receive and draw out a CB with his progressive carry, and then slot the ball in the path of the striker as soon as the CB jumps. It's especially effective against 4-2-3-1. I consider it a combination between Messi and Grealish- you want him to get the ball and draw as many defenders as you can, so that he can find someone who is free in space.

      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад

      Great addition to the role, thanks! I also hate using absolutes in my video, like saying only one type of player will work (I think I maybe went too far in this one on that hahaha), because there are so many stories like yours way you're able to craft the role to your player and have success (even if someone like me alludes that you may not have it)

    Hey man this role has often escaped me at times but when you emphasised the fact that the player type in question has to be a Messi Level player which is hard to find😅, thus I realise I have misprofiled the role quite often by playing a player not even close. • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад

      I find that with a 433, slightly shorter passing and slightly higher tempo work. Your team will try to keep possession of the ball so you're not bypassing the treq with long balls, but the higher tempo can still help you be more purposeful in trying to score a goal.
      A 442, similar instructions would work. I also like a more direct passing style with this formation. If you have your treq as one of the strikers, the direct passing style could get it to him faster and let him do his thing

      Thank you and glad you're enjoying the videos! For your question, an Anchor Man is a traditional DM and sits in the defensive midfield area where he holds his position in front of the backline to provide defensive cover. A half back is usually used with a back four and when you have the ball, he'll drop into the defensive backline to create a back-3 formation.
      They're pretty similar in that they're both holding defensive midfielders, they don't take a lot of risks, and they're great for providing defensive cover if you have a bunch of aggressive roles up top. I should (hopefully) have some videos on these two in the somewhat near future, but hopefully that helps a little!

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker so far it's good. I started as unemployed with no experience and the lowest licence and I'm clawing my way up jumping clubs, so I'm facing quite different challenges than most channels discuss (weirdly I never coached Premiership club in FM). Point is, I use what I find at the club most of the time.
      In my current club I play an asymmetric 5-2-2-1, with Libero on support (who works amazing and is way more aggressive than I anticipated). The Trequartista (One of my two transfers, 21 yo) occupies the central AM spot, offset to the left a bit. I tried to give him space to operate in, so he is surrounded by the AF in front and BWM-D behind him. There is an IW/IF/W on the right wing (depending on which player is healthy, I'm looking for a transfer for that position). In possession wingbacks provide width (left one is more attacking), and Segundo Volante and aforementioned Libero move up.
      He scored 7 goals and 2 assists in 15 games, which places him in top 10 scorers of the league.
      I could play him as AP, but in FM 24 a lot of teams play with 1-2 DMs and I'm afraid that forcing actions through that area will hurt more than it would help. Maybe I'll try out AM or SS after watching your explanation of the role. Overall, with just 3 offensive players I wanted a mobile role to roam into free spaces and provide a scoring threat as well as distribute ball.

      Yea if it's working, than keep at it! I like the shadow striker with the advanced forward, little easier to "predict" what he's going to do compared with the treq. But 7 goals in 15 games is excellent production; sometimes the fact that the treq wanders can be good like you say for those 2DM systems you're facing

      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  Месяц назад

      KDB would be a mezzala in a 433, and Bruno probably a shadow striker in a 4231

    I am currently playing a 3421with a DLP and DM in the midfield two, and an AM on attack and an AP on support with a DLF on attack. After watching this I am thinking of changing the AP to a Trequartista because I have Samardzic that used to play Regista but had more impact further up the pitch and is by far my standout player at Udinese. On the AP side my wingback is on attack to provide passing outlets.
    If I were to turn him into a trequartista, should I change the striker role too?

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад +1

      I would change the treq first, and then keep watching on how the treq and the striker interact with each other. It's easier to see the impact of one role on another when only one of them has changed

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Fair enough, I tried it a couple of games and Samardzic looks like the real deal as a trequartista, definitely give him a look as he's one of the only young players that is at a smallish club that has almost all of the attributes required and plenty of room to improve!

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker A little update now Samardzic has been playing as a trequartista for about half a season: It's working incredibly. He has become a key pass monster, pops up wherever he feels like he wants to and scores some crazy goals. I might make the move to a bigger team and will definitely bring him with me

    Would Rafa Silva be a good trequartista?

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад

      I'd probably use him as a shadow striker or an attacking midfielder (attack). Some of the mentals are low for a trequartista, but his speed and mixture of technical attributes make him great for a SS or AM

    Bellingham fits your category of having nothing less than 14. But I guess you didnt talk about him because he is also realy good in other Roles and kind of looses his qualities in terms of pressing while playing him as a trquartista.

      That'd be a great idea to try Bellingham at a treq! I don't think I tried it with him but I'm sure he'd be great at it. Not to spoil my other video, but I talk about Bellingham in the role guide for the Roaming Playmaker if you'd like to see how I use him

      @@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker I just found you out (about 2 weeks ago) and if there's something I actually enjoy I this videos is the part where you pick the "best" player to describe how the position works. For this one I thought "that's Messi", but was expecting Bernardo or Foden to be mentioned, but I'm not sure if their stats reflect this position.
      Nevertheless, let me just say I'm really enjoying this series and, even tho I might not use them, I like to learn how other positions work from you.
      Cheers mate

      @@tiagosacramento4855 I really appreciate the support, thank you! And thank you for the feedback, I'll see about incoporating more player stuff in future videos.
      For a quick side note on the player examples, I think that's always the most fun but toughest part of making these videos. I try to pick a wide range, or maybe show lower league teams, but inevitably when I show world class players there are so many examples that's it's tough to show the perfect one (except maybe Messi lol.) Anyway, thanks again!
