Good clip! My D-Lux typ 109 arrived a few days ago and it is phenomenal. As a 77 year old ex pro, I had a BAD summer 2018 due to high humidity and heavy pollen count in New York. So I wanted to find a compact camera I could stick in my pocket, ready for street photography. Ok, it won’t fit in my jeans pocket but it fits fine in my jacket pocket. So next summer I can leave my pro Nikon equipment in my closet. It took a bit of work to select my settings but now it’s nearly perfect. Highly recommended.

Great review of this camera. I bought this camera last year and it is fantastic! There is no doubt it is a Leica. The lens is tack sharp and B&W images are classic Leica !

Thanks for the comments and it's basically the same camera, but an updated version. Be sure to check out my Panasonic LX100 II review, because that is basically the same as the d Lux 7 from what I can tell. Perhaps at some point I will review it, but I'm currently jammed up with other projects ;) Thanks again!!

hi from Mexico! Very good video! explained how to use a 109 very well!! This video: 10/10! I am seriously thinking about buying a 109 used...in 2020!!! It's got everything i want, and even does 4K! A friend in Asia bought a d-lux 7, and the photos are amazing! , this camera is the predecessor of the 7, but it's $1100 + new, and one of these can be bought used for about $500. I'm 9 out of 10 on buying one. Bottom line: It's all in the Leica lens! The construction of these Leica's also is amazing! large dials etc. Also, I just subscribed!
Jason...best menu explanation EVER. I proudly own the De-lux 7 and love it and your menu tutorial help me a great deal' My 82yr old eyes are not what they used to be so I enjoy the capability of magnified view in manual focus mode. Magnified focus aid appeared in Af mode one day, i know not how, I loved it even more till it disappeared a shot time later. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TURN THIS FEATURE ON AND OFF. I have Alexander S. White's book on the Lumix DC-LX100 II and I love it but no where can I find the instructions for setting up MAG view in AF mode. I know it can work...it was working, I just don't know how to control it. Can you or one of your viewers help me be in control of that wonderful function? Would love to set up a Fn button with this function also but nothing in the Fn button sub menu
allows it. Any help would be wonderful....keep the videos coming.

I just wanted to know if you really see better results (JPEGs & video) coming from this camera than those from the LX100-II.
Also I'm curious of this D-LUX 7 isn't plagued with the sensor dust that's still a major problem with both LX 100.
I wish to buy this camera in the near future, therefore I wish to have a constructive exchange with an owner.

Many thanks for this intro. I bought this Leica and sold the Sony RX100 VII, Images from the Sony are good but having all key "buttons" are within the menu software making it slow and clumsey to use.

I got my last week. Haven't started using it much, but still happy with the red dot.
Branding only. Red dots don't take better photos. Lx100 is the same camera with slightly different firmware.
Excellent this was unbelievably helpful, thank you, I have just bought a D-lux 7 I’ve notice when i take a photo and i view it all the photo data shows in the pre view which I don’t want to see how can I stop that function can you help

Many thanks for this helpful overview. Can you please help with this problem - when I press the shutter more than one photo is taken. Both bracketing and focus stacking are turned off so I've no idea where to go to solve this issue. I thought it might be a camera fault! Gratefully, Gerry
On the bottom of the rear control dial you have the drive mode button, you must have it set to continuous shooting is my guess. 10:52 I talk about Drive Modes

@@yannolove1335 this is my first ever Leica camera, so I can't compare. The last camera I owned was a Sony Cybershot way back in 2011 and it's broken already. My only comparison is with the high end mobile phones from Huawei and Samsung. And all I can say is the Leica output is way better.

Image quality is very close to the LX100 although the colors on the Leica render better in my opinion.

Wow, thank you sooo very much for the tutorial! This is amazing! Now, I'm starting to reconsider getting this camera instead of the C-LUX version. But hmmm, it's really quite a hard decision to make. Also, I was wondering if there's an image quality/color difference between shooting with LEICA's C-LUX, and the LUMIX TZ200? Which is mentioned as basically the exact same cameras. I'm wondering if you noticed how the images compare on the two?
The colors do render a bit different between the Leica and Panasonic cameras even though they are basically the same hardware. The image processing is not the same, and the Leica has a slight edge in color production in my opinion. Better skin tones for example and things like that. However, it's not very noticeable to the average user I would say.

It's been such a long time since I had this camera in hand I honestly don't know off the top of my head, sorry. What mode is the camera in? Are you shooting jpeg or raw quality? If you hit the A button first does it work? If not I'm thinking some other feature must be enabled that is preventing the Filter from working. Let me know about these quick questions i have, and I will do some research to find out what is up Lisa.

Would you recommend this or the Leica X2 as a first camera for my self? I like high end stuff. I don’t really need WiFi as a feature. Pricing is around $600 bucks used in like new excellent condition for either model. I want to take high quality photos, and edit them on my pc. I’m a tech savvy person, and I’ve been in to High end PC hardware all my life. And, I just can’t do taking pictures with a phone anymore. I’m leaning towards the Leica X2, though it is a little dated I hear it takes very good pictures. Thank you.
I'm not familiar with that camera personally, but I'm sure it's a great unit in Leica put their name on it ;)

My mic is on while i checked but for some reason when i play back the recorded materials the sound button is off... there is no sound for the image... Would you know how to turn it back on...? Apologies if this has been answered - I find the display always shows the photos as brighter/more vibrant than they are when I download them. I think I’ve got the perfect shot but then I have to edit and fix exposure and vibrancy etc. I’m guessing it’s a display setting but I haven’t been able to figure it out. Any thoughts?

I read you use the front function button to get the filer menu. I do not get that. It gives a 4K funtion mode How do I get the filter menu.

Hi Jay, thanks for your nice review videos which I enjoy watching them. I really like the details you go through all the buttons and stuff which is awesome. Just want to thank you and I have recently subscribed to your wonderful channel. Secondly, I would like to get an advice on which of the two cameras I should buy between the Sony RX100M6 or Panasonic GX9. My main intention is for using the 4K video under low light or for night shooting. I wanted the best lowlight 4K compact camera. Can you highlight me on this, please? Thanks again Jay
Well, the Sony RX100 VI will only allow for 5min clips in 4k quality, so for that specific purpose, I think the Panasonic GX9 would be a better option. Plus you can change lenses on the GX9 as well. Downside is you don't have the awesome built in powerzoom zeiss lens, although it makes some noise when zooming anyway. The Sony RX100 VA would be better than the VI for low light due to the faster lens! The Panasonic GX9 has a larger sensor than the Sony and with the option of putting on really fast lenses, it is more versatile and powerful option for 4k video in particular I would say. bhpho.to/2QmpZ3D

But to answer your question, yes it is a fixed 3.1x Zoom or 24-75mm f/1.7-2.8 effective lens.

Well I would say the A72 has the larger sensor and ability to use all the e-mount lenses available, so it is way more versatile for sure! This Leica is a very nice turn key camera solution, because the lens does not come off. I would check out my Lumix LX100 II Review also (ruclips.net/video/flY6jfqvH0Q/видео.html), because that is basically the newer version of this Leica....

Does anyone's D-Lux make a constant processing noise when just left on but unused. It makes louder noises when focussing, which is expected - but I get a constant noise.
