    Great review. For me, it’s fit for purpose. Small size, under 20MP for smaller file sizes, excellent menu, good fast lens, easy access to aperture and shutter speed, quick access to picture size format, nice small fill-in flash, easy file transfer. My pictures are for viewing on phone, iPad and computer. Good price point and it was readily available where I live.

    Don’t forget that the original Leica M film camera was essentially 'point and shoots'. It were the Rolleiflex and smaller plate cameras, the Linhof and Graflexes that were the ‘professional cameras'. At the end of the day it’s the quality of the content of a photograph that was and still should be, key. Certainly not the image quality alone. Look at the work of Robert Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson. FWIW I have been using m43 Olympus cameras for all my professional work. Clients are happy and so am I.

      True... A good photo with a "bad" camera is still a good photo... a bad photo with a professional camera will always be a bad photo ;-)

    tried the DLux 7. Uses a Panasonic Menu. It was very confusing. The DLux 8 has a MUCH better menu. The DLux 8 is excellent

      @@flofroschmayerthey fixed the menu, removing a lot of very useful options. It was a bit disappointing.

    2:05 "I'm going to go to (aspect:ratio) 3:2 as you would go with every ff camera"
    For me the beauty of aspect:ratio 3by4 is precisely the wonderfully balanced ratio height-width of the frame, visible in VF/LCD;
    the vertical dimension is essential for good photography.
    5:08 "problem of (camera) size" But the LX3 was smaller than this '8' and did have sort of joystick...

    Nice to meet you, when I saw Florian's photo, I thought the color was really nice. I basically take it as a jpeg, but are there any recommended color settings?
    contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc.

    Great review. I agree, what do you want to do with camera...for me it will be a carry everywhere camera and will get the fun shots I need and can print up to 16 x 20 with 17MP. I would not use for a wedding or something like that, unless I wanted a quick shot I could transfer to phone and send to couple. But I was tired of carrying a full frame with lenses on vacations and just walking around that this will fill that niche for me.

    Thank you for the video. It help me to decide that this camera it is not for me. The photos out of camera are not good to many things you have to fix in post, noice and distortion and much more! So if you like to spend a lot of time editing your photos this camera is for you! And one more thing is that people are complaning about dust on the censor!

    Great review. Is it easy to put in a trouser pocket to carry around? I do that with a Ricoh GRIII but this is a bit bigger.

    • @flofroschmayer
      @flofroschmayer  4 месяца назад

      No. It is too big.... for my trousers at least. But I also did not force it because it was a loaner.

    I love what Leica have done update wise from the D Lux 7. It would have have been as good as M4/3 could be currently if they had put in the latest 25mp M4/3 sensor.

    • @flofroschmayer
      @flofroschmayer  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes. Don't know why they did not go there. But it looks realy good.

    • @Victor-kh5rh
      @Victor-kh5rh 3 месяца назад

      They didn’t go there because they would also have to update the lens to account for the new sensor, and then the camera would be priced at a level that just wouldn’t make any sense at all. This is a solid update, and I’d expect the 9 to have the newer sensor and lens. The tech is still good, and I’m glad to see an update focused on refinement rather than just raw specs. This might be the camera I was waiting for to replace my OG Fujifilm x100 for the next 10-15 years.

    What does the LED under the Menu button indicate? Flashing blue/red/green?

    • @flofroschmayer
      @flofroschmayer  3 месяца назад

      The Sim Card status LED... You should not open the cover/remove the memory card or the battery from the camera while the status LED is lit, which indicates memory access. Data on the card may otherwise be destroyed and camera malfunctions may occur.

    Es gibt vieles, was die 8 nicht hat und auch viele schon moniert haben, etwa keinen Klappbildschirm. Oder auch Kleineres, wie die fehlende Möglichkeit zwischen bestimmten Brennweiten hin und her zu switchen. Das verstehe ich aber vor dem Hintergrund, dass es für eine reine Hobbykamera keine Rolle spielen sollte, ob man nun exakt bei 35mm oder 37mm ist, solang einem der Ausschnitt gefällt. Alles in allem also gute Entscheidungen von Leica, hier das Wesentliche genau für eine D-Lux zu formulieren. Was für mich dabei aber nicht ins Bild passt: Die Leica Looks aus der Fotos App sind nur auf die SL3 und die Q3 herunterladbar und laut Leica Store werden die wohl auch nicht für die D-Lux 8 erhältlich gemacht. Die Leica Looks greifen *nur* auf JPGs. Der gemeine SL3- oder auch zu großen Teilen Q3 Fotograf wird ganz sicher in erster Linie RAW schießen und seltenst out of camera JPGs exportieren. Warum Leica also hier, dieses JPG-only feature gerade für eine Kamera nicht bereitstellt, bei der sicher prozentual so viele Nutzer wie bei keiner anderen Leica JPG schießen werden, ist für mich einfach nicht nachzuvollziehen.

      Ich kann mir eigentlich nur vorstellen, dass es ein Hardware Problem ist. Wenn der Prozessor der gleiche wie der von der D-Lux 7 ist, sind die Farbprofile der neueren Leica Looks vielleicht nicht zu verarbeiten. Keine Ahnung, da bin ich zu wenig im Thema. Aber ich bin total eingig mit Dir, ist eine sehr komische Entscheidung.

    • @lelandfitz1762
      @lelandfitz1762 4 месяца назад

      @@flofroschmayer Deine These mit der Hardware macht am meisten Sinn. Wenn ich so darüber nachdenke, hat Leica keinen Grund "absichtlich" dieses Feature D-Lux Kunden vorzuenthalten. Sie bieten schließlich was die UX angeht das volle Q3-Erlebnis auf der D-Lux an. Also da ist sicher keine Taktik dahinter, um absichtlich etwas für Premiumkameras exklusiv zu halten. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass es tatsächlich am Sensor/Prozessor liegt und Leica nur etwas Zeit braucht, die Looks-Profile vielleicht extra dafür zu erstellen, falls das möglich ist. Die einzige Aussage dazu habe ich von Leica Heidelberg gehört, wonach es wohl eher dabei bleiben wird. Ein kleines Ärgernis bei einer sonst super durchdachten Kamera!

    Very well presented review. Your observations of the sensor capabilities and in particular the size of the camera. I too had difficulty in achieving comfort in the ergonomics of the camera. This is not a camera I would invest in choosing a Fuji X100VI as a more suitable compact for me.

      Ich verstehe es auch nicht, ich hoffe ja noch, dass sie da nachbessern. Kann höchstens wirklich sein, dass der Prozessor auch aus der D-Lux 7 ist und es dann tatsächlich ein Hardware Problem ist. Keine Ahnung.

    Overpriced 6 year old Panasonic LX100 II win a Leica body with Leica menus. Has the exact same processor, exact same sensor, and exact same lens and the LX100 II... only it $1,600 lol.
