How Emirates' Fleet Will Change In Five Years

- The Emirates fleet is a bit of a peculiarity in the commercial aviation industry. Not only is it the only airline (of its size) operating an all-widebody fleet, but, close to half of its 263 commercial passenger aircraft are Airbus A380s.
The Middle Eastern carrier has had this two-type fleet for several years now, ever since it retired its Airbus A330s and A340s in 2016. However, this relatively simple composition will soon change as the carrier takes delivery of additional types - namely, the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787. So, with all of this in mind, what will the carrier's collection of aircraft look like in a few years? Let’s take a look for today’s video!

Flying with them in February with a transfer in Dubai.
Looking forward to 4 flights with them all on the 380.
First time for me.
Wow that’s exciting. I was going to fly with Emirates next week with a layover in Dubai, wanted to visit the Burj Khalifa since it was an eight hour wait for the next flight. Ended up choosing a direct flight to where I’m going
I have a feeling we will see some changes in order numbers, as Emirates further loses patience with Boeing...
Possibly quite the opposite. Imagine what discount EK got on their two new freighters?
I may be wrong, but I remember seeing somewhere that EK already cancelled some 777x and increased their order of a350...
More importantly, the costs associated with fleet complexity tend to be higher than any discount Boeing (or Airbus) could offer..
I have a feeling the 777X will never fly with airlines, doomed to failure

I love their simplified fleet
That A380 put emirates in the aviation industry and made them the brand they are today. For sure that was the best pick they have ever made
They should have stopped at about 50 units. It might be a passengers dream but it isn’t an accountants dream.
@@EdOeuna They are still buying A380 from other leasing companies. They ain't going away for a long time.
@@LINJ638- they’re buying aircraft that they already operate, not extra ones. How many A380’s are at DWC? Last time I was there (2 days ago) there were about 15-20. All lined up. All looking very sorry for themselves. One is being dismantled.
As a plane spotter, I like a lot of diversity at airports. To my eyes, the more types of airliners and the more airlines the better. I mean, an endless stream of A320 and B737 family jets gets boring quickly. More types just makes spotting more fun in my opinion.
Emirates has developed a niche market and a system that is working really well. I hope as their fleet diversifies they'll continue to have success.
After taking several flights on A380s, the type, especially with Emirates, has become one of my favorite planes to fly on. I am very glad that 5hey plan to fly the type into the 2040s!
I love the changes because I will be pilot soon 😁😁
congrats and good luck
All the best man
Congrats on that!
I'm just waiting to go on the a350 inaugural flight
It will be to AKL if i'm not wrong
I predict EK would use the A350s to the certain destinations which first class is not needed. For example ADL and newly destinations like YUL.
I like this new background music🔥
Emirates have changed the aviation industry over the years and i respect
(Also second)
Not really.
they are the reason the a380 is the king of the skies@@johniii8147
Nice to see new aircraft in emirates even though they are too small.
Can’t wait to see a larger plane!
The upcoming Dubai Airshow 2023, should be the defining moment on the Emirates future fleet. Emirates Tim Clark & Team, are experts in making the right choice for their future success👍✌️
fun fact: Emirates had every B777 variant
except the -200ER
@@kylefaris5487They did have the -200ER until 2016
@@kylefaris5487 yes they had the -200ER version too, you can look it up
I'm a huge fan of the Emirates current fleet (especially the a380s) but I'm also now really excited to see the future fleet especially the a350s coming into service. Really pleased and happy for Emirates 😊
The 777X, 787, A350 and A380 are my favourite aircraft so that’s great. Apparently they are looking to order more at the Dubai air show this year as well.
Hopefully they won't equip their incoming aircraft with the same business class cabins they have in their current 777 fleet.
The seats of the 200LR, in business class, are much more comfortable. They don’t have that stupid foot rest thing that digs in to your shins when you try to lie flat.
@@EdOeuna But it's the same 2-3-2, right? By current standards, having 2-3-2 in business class is unconscionable.
@@sainnt - like I said, the seats are more comfortable. The layout isn’t the best but at least one can lie down in relative comfort.
@@EdOeuna I have no doubt that the seats are comfortable. However, for a high end airline like Emirates, 2-3-2 in business class is simply unacceptable. I would not pay for that service if I have other options. Same price as a QSuite. Easy choice.
@@sainnt - chose Qwantarse as your peril. I always chuckle to myself when I hear a welcome on board announcement, in the heart of Africa, which includes welcoming QANTAS frequent flyers.
Personally I think that what there planning is good, but I would personally prefer replacing the 787 with the new 777X.
Personally I am very happy about the planned fleet changes, it will bring a lot of diversity and options for both the pilots working for Emirates and ultimately the customers 😅
@simple flying not liking the background tune. I thought it might be a one time thing for news but makes it a little to disturbing watching videos on head/ear-phones
great video, but bring back the old background music please
surprised they havent ordered a350-1000s or 787-10s honestly
i thought that but the a350-1000 is around the same size as 777-8 so it would just be more costly
They did once have the A35K on order, they later cancelled the entire order and then later ordered 50 A359s.
They ordered the -10. but swapped them for the -9 instead
You forgot a few things, Emirates also operated 777-200ERs, 777-300 (Non ER) and 777-200 (Non ER)
Will be interesting if they go single aisle as well
now you need to remake this after the new order from the dubai airshow
A380 my dream 🍻
Special Appearance of Perth Airport ahahaha
Simple question, would the 777X now be in service with airlines if they had not had all the issue's with the 737Max? ie- Blanket certification claiming that it's just another 777....
Well some of the delays would have occured anyways like the engine troubles with the GE9X, the failed pressurization test or the control issue they experienced during a test flight. So it's a bit hard to quantify, how much daly was caused by what issue
Anyone know what the capacity is for the new 777 compared to A380?
I hope with a 787, Emirates would fly their Cebu and Clark routes separately to try to compete against Qatar Airways for these routes to other Filipino airports and increase the routing for this to be at least once daily.
Emirates is always the forerunner
Rumour has it that, Emirates will only operate the A350 and 777X,..the 787-9 order will not be cancelled, rather it will be taken by their sister airline Flydubai. Watch out for the Dubai airshow in November.
hope Boeing manages to get their company organized again.
It’s actually nice when an airline company can afford the newest and shiniest toys out there when you’re wholly own by the government of Dubai 😬😂.
increases logistics costs.
A380 is the best. ❤
Personally if I was Tim Clark, I would use the 777-8’s to replace their 200LR’s and -300ER’s and the -9 to replace the A380’s. As the -8 and -300 are the same size, the -8 makes an ideal replacement. The -9 I think is better for the A380 as the largest twin engine aircraft, being bigger than the A350-1000.
You don’t think that’s what they’re doing?
Well the 777-9s will replace both the a380 and 777-300ER fleet. That's the plan
Emirates will change they r intrested in pax safety and facilities. But Air india will never change they r not bothered about welfare of passengers.
Probably the next time I fly emirates they will have a mixture of ac cause the 777 & A380 are a bit boring !!
After A380 what?
777-9/10
Personally, I sant to see another 4 engine airliner replace the A380. I do realize that's wishful thinking, though.

I used to fly for them i hated A330 and those silly A340 always issues B777 was a smooth operation ❤️
They should get the A350-1000 and cancel the 777-8 as it will be delayed until whenever. LOL.
Yeah, because retraining 1500+ pilots is that easy.
@@EdOeunaStill cheaper than flying a jet that's 26 Tonnes heavier when empty.
@@nathd1748-keep dreaming.
@EdOeuna You're the one dreaming. Because Boeing have said they have no intention of offering the 777-8 as a pax jet. Its obsolete on paper against the A350-1000. It takes a lot of extra fuel to lift that extra 26 tonnes and fly it a few thousand miles every day.
@@EdOeuna well first of all, you don't need 1500 pilots for 35 planes and second, retraining is often part of the deal when changing planes
